* AngstWhatAngst: What does Peter do when he realizes he's up against the very vampire that killed both his parents and Ginger? Swear for a while, and then [[TemptingFate comment on the fact that he was attacked with just a pebble.]]
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** The score by Music/RaminDjawadi, very similar at times to a score one would hear throughout a monster movie from the 1980s.
** [[Music/JayZ "99 Problems"]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKsP5qlWtes in country blues style]] is surprisingly catchy.
* CompleteMonster: [[BigBad Jerry Dandridge]] stands in [[AdaptationalVillainy stark contrast]] to the [[Film/FrightNight1985 original]] film's [[AffablyEvil charming and likable monster]]. The film opens with Jerry having slaughtered a family, including the teenage son, out of suspicion the boy was spying on him. Jerry reveals himself as a savage predator who kidnaps and feeds on people, keeping them locked up in his private [[CannibalLarder larder]]. When Charlie Brewster tries to rescue a woman Jerry held hostage, Jerry had been toying with them both and had already turned her, letting her die in the sunlight solely to mess with Charlie. He's more than happy to tear the throats out of innocent bystanders and turns Charlie's girlfriend into a vampire in front of a helpless Charlie, and later mocks him as he makes out with her. While Dandridge in the original held a certain elegance, the remake's version is nothing more than a savage, sadistic predator.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Charlie's go-go dancer neighbor Doris only has a handful of scenes but is pretty memorable and well-liked. This is due to her attractiveness, her bravery when Charlie tries to intervene as Jerry feeds on her, and the intensity of the following scene, where Charlie tries to help her escape from Jerry.
* HesJustHiding: There are those who hold out hope that Adam was among those turned and then brought back to normal. InUniverse it is unclear if Adam and his family were turned or just killed. They aren't visible with the vampires at the end but were in the original script, and could have just been further back.
* HilariousInHindsight: [[Recap/DoctorWhoS31E6TheVampiresOfVenice They originate in the Mediterranean,]] you say?
* HoYay:
** Peter tells Charley he's gonna "pop his cherry" and [[spoiler:even kisses him when Charley defeats Jerry for good.]]
** When Evil Ed [[spoiler:attacks Charley and is practically lying on top of him in an attempt to bite him]], he says, "Is this getting weird for you? 'Cause I'm feeling a little homo right now!" Especially with Evil Ed taunting Charley about his new vampire senses. He can hear him breathing, he can ''feel'' him nearby.
* JustHereForGodzilla: Just here to see the [[Series/DoctorWho Tenth Doctor]] fight vampires.
* NoYay: Jerry. With ''everyone''. It comes to the point of Jerry being a MemeticMolester.
* OneSceneWonder: Will Denton impressed as Adam in the opening scene, trying to hide from the vampire and find a way to defend himself, in a house filled with bodies drained of blood.
* {{Squick}}: Creator/DavidTennant's long-winded improv about his leather pants in the HilariousOuttakes reel.
* TearJerker: [[spoiler: Evil Ed]]'s death scene. The fact that they're portrayed more sympathetically in this one really doesn't help.
-->'''[[spoiler: Evil Ed]]''': It's ok, Charley. *Turns to dust*
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: The vampire teeth, the final showdown, and many others. On the more technical side, there's the elaborate long take during the highway chase, with the camera moving in-between the car seats and characters. It owes a lot to ''Film/ChildrenOfMen'', but it's still well done.
* WhatDoYouMeanItsNotForKids: Surprisingly, the Japanese seem to think this movie is kids' stuff. Not only is it given a G rating in Japan, but it's also published under the [[http://disney-studio.jp/product/index.jsp?cid=1130 freakin' Walt Disney logo!]]
