%%* BadassDecay: Happens to Sephiroth in ''The Rogues Gallery''. He even complains about it himself.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Stick from ''The Scrambled Channel'', among others, which somehow became the most popular character despite being an inanimate piece of wood.
* FandomEnragingMisconception: Wil used to have an "idiots" page where he made fun of people who asked him Gannon Bannable questions in emails. One in particular is that there is no Chaos Diamonds 1 or 2. It's called Chaos Diamonds 3 because there are three Chaos Diamonds in the story.
* HarsherInHindsight: Back in the day, there were a lot of people who portrayed Psyguy as a sort of LovableSexManiac in fanart as a joke. These became pretty easy to wince at once the sexual abuse allegations against him came to light.
* OvershadowedByControversy: Since 2014, the site has become more well-known for its creator, Bryon Beaubien (aka [=SuperPsyguy=]), who has been accused of being a serial abuser, sexual harasser, and child predator and engaging in emotionally and sexually abusive behaviors toward his female staff members and fans[[note]]though part of them have come out as gender identities other than fully female[[/note]], including minors. This eventually resulted in him taking down Platform/Fireball20XL and vanishing from the internet, before returning to the Internet as [=BitPolar=] and later Brinnstar, but the low view counts maintain that he'll never escape his controversy.
* ViewerGenderConfusion:
** Many readers at first thought that Mike (the former member responsible for ''Webcomic/InWilysDefense'') was female, due to having a female avatar.
** Same for Noccifire. Several discovered he was male on his debut wha-chow appearance. He since changed his avatar.
** Jen. One issue of her comic had her addressing the numerous emails she got asking whether she was a guy or a girl.
