* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: [[AlternativeCharacterInterpretation/FinalFantasy Here]].
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic:
** You know something's going to die, and in epic fashion at that, when the Magun's theme starts up. Kumo's combat music has this effect as well.
** Not to say that the anime soundtracks aren't lacking in a good opening song ("Over the FANTASY") and ending songs ("VIVID" and "Romancing Train") of course, especially when one of your main composers is Creator/NobuoUematsu himself.
* AudienceAlienatingPremise: Just like ''Anime/FinalFantasyTheSpiritsWithin'' (which coincidentally premiered the same year as ''Unlimited''), the anime is a standalone work that does not adapt any of the storylines from the games and has little in common with them, which turned off many ''Final Fantasy'' fans from the anime, while a ''Final Fantasy'' anime had little appeal to mainstream audiences in the first place. Naturally, just like ''The Spirits Within'', it failed to attract an audience, and the anime was cancelled after its first season due to poor ratings and video sales.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Akai Kiri (a.k.a. Madoushi) is easily one of the most popular characters in this series, despite only showing up in one episode of the anime proper.
* FanNickname: Kuroki Kaze was known as "Rock Boy" on many forums back in the day due to his near-complete lack of emotions.
* HilariousInHindsight:
** People complained about how long it took for Kaze to do a summon. With the summoning times of some of the other ''Final Fantasy'' games, his summoning time seems to barely register.
** The character designer is the same person who did the ones for ''Anime/SamuraiChamploo'' and ''VideoGame/TalesOfLegendia'' -- and suffice to say, one can see the similarities, though ''especially'' with ''VideoGame/TalesOfLegendia''. This is particularly notable with Grune in ''Legendia'' who looks somewhat like Fabula. [[spoiler:They have more similarities too...]]
** Clear has clothing made of water that can also grant the ability of flight. In other words, he is wearing a [[VideoGame/DragonQuestII Water Flying Cloth]].
* HoYay: Implied when [[spoiler:Kumo brings Kaze back to the Comodeen... bridal style]].
* JustHereForGodzilla: Despite being only one member of the ensemble cast, the brooding MageMarksman Kaze is easily one of the story's main selling points, sandwiched as he is between the [[UselessProtagonist Hayakawa twins]] and [[OvershadowedByAwesome Lisa]].
* MemeticMutation:
** "The Soil Charge Triad to use on you has been decided!", followed by the name of the Soil ingredients of a summon.
** Related to the above, some people make up their own summons, often causing crossovers.
* SoBadItsGood:
** The anime in general is this for those who have watched it; the plot is messy (the unreleased-except-in-script ''After'' is even messier as well as ending in a blatant SequelHook), it all barely resembles ''Final Fantasy'' outside of a few franchise mainstays (with Chobi, Cid, and Moogle Kupo even having prominent roles in the cast), and has a lot of characters who are either dumb or outright unlikeable. And yet, there is also enough hilariously bizarre imagery and plot twists mixed in with some sincerely well-written moments to make it a fun watch. The English dub adds to this with its voice acting that is a mix of both entertaining ''and'' gloriously hammy.
** The sequence for Kaze's aforementioned summoning, which he does with his Magun and Soil. (And yes, it ''is'' [[GunsDoNotWorkThatWay as stupidly awesome as you would imagine]].) It takes ''forever'', happens OncePerEpisode, and (other than the color of the bullets) [[RecycledAnimation it is exactly the same each instance it happens]]. But even then, it is undeniably badass and Kaze's voice actor in both Japanese and English does a great job in helping its case. The summons always doing something really cool afterwards also helps.
* TearJerker: Episodes 10, 13, and 18 all definitely count, as does [[spoiler: episode 25]] ([[TheWoobie and]] '''''[[KickTheDog how]]''''').
