* AwesomeMusic/AwesomeMusic: The anime's OP, "Gospel of the Throttle" by Minutes Til Midnight.
* CatharsisFactor: It is oh so satisfying seeing Aram [[DirtyCoward beg for his life when]] [[spoiler: Shimazu Toyohisa beats him to a pulp, then convinces the elves to kill him with their hands.]]
* CompleteMonster: [[StarterVillain Aram]] is a knight of [[TheEmpire the Orte Empire]], in charge of patrolling its lands where he would oppress the elves there, take their women to be made {{sex slave}}s, and kill any wandering Drifters. [[DisproportionateRetribution Burning the elven villages because two teenagers helped the Drifters]], Aram personally kills the village elder, gloating that all non-humans will be exterminated, before ordering his men to kill some of the elves in the village, [[WouldHurtAChild including the teenager]], wanting to cut the elf population in half.
* CrossoverShip: It's not exactly uncommon to see Hijikata with [[VideoGame/FateGrandOrder Sakura Saber]], due to her being Okita.
* DesignatedHero: Ohhhhhhhhh, yeah. If not for the fact that the enemies they fight are even worse, [[BloodKnight Shimazu]], [[ManipulativeBastard Oda]], and [[ColdSniper Nasu]] would definitely be the bad guys. [[spoiler:Within three volumes of their introduction, they've turned the formerly peaceful elves into their own vicious, revenge-focused personal army]].
* FanficFuel: Any fic that has a public domain/historical figure fighting alongside the Drifters or the Ends.
* MemeticMutation: "Speak Japanese." [[labelnote:explanation]]One of the lines uttered by Shimazu during his fight with an Orte Empire knight in the second episode, this line is used to counter [[SubbingVsDubbing English dubbing in anime]].[[/labelnote]]
* SelfFanservice: Oh boy, does it ever hit this trope harder than Nasu. It's fairly obvious that his design is a bit effeminate, and his voice in both versions of the anime doesn't help matters, but when people tend to draw him, they give him luscious lips, wide hips, and an overall more feminine design than he ever really looked like.
* {{Squick}}: "The arrowheads are full of shit!"... Yeah as in literally, imagine having an arrow jammed into you, and later find out that they are tipped with fecal matter.
* ViewerGenderConfusion: Many viewers mistook Yoichi for a girl when they first watched the anime, due to his slender build, hairstyle and feminine face. His voice in the original sub doesn't help matters.
* {{Woolseyism}}: In the original audio, Yoichi is voiced by Creator/MitsukiSaiga, a woman, and has a clearly feminine voice, leading Toyohisa to initially assume that he's either a woman or Nobunaga's attendant, Mori Ranmaru. In English, he's voiced by Justin Briner, who, while not having a deep voice, still has a masculine enough tone not to be confused for a woman. As such, the dialogue in the aforementioned scene instead alludes to how Toyohisa would think that Nobunaga would prefer having Ranmaru considering their relationship, to which Nobunaga says, "Would have made these cold nights a lot warmer," alluding to the rumors of their potentially intimate relationship.
