* ComplacentGamingSyndrome: Once you unlocked the stage which requires you to survive for 100 seconds, you can level your characters and get gold fairly quickly and easily.
* CriticalDissonance: The game received mixed to positive reviews from critics , but sold [[http://www.polygon.com/2013/6/21/4453412/code-of-princess-performs-surprisingly-well-in-us-sparks-talk-of surprisingly well]] in the US. Ironically the game performed so-so in its native home Japan. The producer, Yasuo Nakajima, said he would like to do a sequel on Platform/{{PS4}} or Platform/XboxOne because of the game's success in the States.
* GermansLoveDavidHasselhoff: It sold surprisingly well in the USA for a relatively obscure, animesque hack & slash.
* GoodBadBugs: There's an exploit in the 3DS version with Solange and her aerial attacks. Spamming one of her attacks in the air while repeatedly pressing forward allows her to combo that attack over and over, to the point where it looks like she's flying.
* PolishedPort: While it being an obvious emulation of the 3DS (complete with a button to choose which screen to be displayed with what size), the first Steam release runs at HD resolutions, and runs at 60 FPS.
** The EX version for Steam and Nintendo Switch later remade the game for a single-screen experience.
* SpiritualSuccessor: To ''VideoGame/GuardianHeroes''. Some of Creator/{{Treasure}}'s former employees [[http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2011/11/28/guardian-heroes-devs-working-on-code-of-princess are the ones who worked on the game]]. There's even a ShoutOut in the packaging: In the back of the box blurb "Be the guardian of 50+ heroes", the words "guardian" and "heroes" are written in a different font and arranged in such a manner as to form the title of the earlier game.
* ThatOneBoss: Liongate, if you've been spreading your experience points across all four characters rather than LevelGrinding a single fighter. Doesn't help that he's a LightningBruiser with his own Burst mode, has a poke attack that interrupts your combo starters, and is surrounded by a squad of {{Mook Lieutenant}}s who have ''much'' better AI than the enemies before this point.
** The Guardian, who is fought right after Liongate, shares [[MovesetClone a similar move-set]] to Liongate, with a few of his moves changed up, and is just as [[LightningBruiser fast and powerful]] as him. But at least he doesn’t have any {{Mook Lieutenant}}s accompanying him.
* ViewerGenderConfusion: At first, many people thought [[http://static2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130710041321/codeofprincess/images/0/0b/Ali_baba.jpg Ali-Baba]] was a guy. It didn't help with her {{bifauxnen}} [[UsefulNotes/{{Pettanko}} features]] and [[GenderBlenderName name]]. By now, anyone who played the game knows her gender, but somebody unfamiliar with the title might do a double-take to her appearance.
* SugarWiki/VisualEffectsOfAwesome: Just after defeating Liongate and freeing [[spoiler: Schwartz de Lux]] from the control of the Guardian Code, you meet the Guardian Code itself, and it looks simply amazing. It is an iridescent rainbow-colored crystal figure with a winged pattern around its back. It looks almost ''divine'' in appearance.
