* AccidentalInnuendo:
** Frequently, which is especially funny because he has ''many'' very young fans who would never even notice-- if he didn't stop to dwell on the innuendo he'd just made ''every single time''.
** At one point, he claimed that he makes too many innuendos in general, especially in RealLife, and would start trying to cut back -- but he was back at it again [[StatusQuoIsGod in the very next video]].
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-JQiIllm1A#t=35m32s "This was my first time, so my blood was really, really pumping when I was doing this"]]
** While playing ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaPhantomHourglass'' and managing to shoot an arrow into the blue weakpoint on Crayk's tail; "Stuck it in his butt, ok ... ({{Beat}}) no, don't-I can never think before I speak because I'm focusing on the game, ok?!"
** Whilst discussing Xenoblade's controversial graphics in "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThQrp7lkKxM Valak Mountain Research,]]":
--->'''Emile:''' And I don't really think it's fair to compare it to games that came out today considering its original release, I mean, granted that, it was an early 2009 release in Japan. In only a few months, this game is gonna be 6 years old. It's hard to believe that, holy crap. But yeah, I don't know, maybe people just get too caught up in the 1080p-ness games these days and--(collapses into laughter) Wow, Emile! That [[ThatCameOutWrong sounded a lot better in my head]] than it did when it came out of my mouth! Um, yeah. You wanna have people take you seriously in a discussion of graphics vs. aesthetics, um, that is ''not'' the way to do it. Oh my god, I can't believe I said that...(laughs) I'm not even gonna re''peat'' that...But yes, people just seem really caught up in whether games are 1080p or not these days and they seem to even get caught up in it for games of last gen or even games that are, like, many years old and, I don't know, I'm just getting kind of tired of it, personally.
*** When he says "repeat," the second syllable is pronounced with a subtle laughing sound.
*** And the cherry on top? As ''soon'' as he said it, he discovered the Hollow Bone Landmark. Yeah.
* AdaptationDisplacement:
** Searching for "[[LetsPlay/ProtonJon Move Faster Pokey]]!" in the [=YouTube=] search bar now yields "move faster pokey chuggaaconroy" as the second most popular search.
** Most people don't realize the inflection of Chugga's BigNo prevalent throughout his videos is a reference to Dr. Robotnik's BigNO in an episode of ''WesternAnimation/AdventuresOfSonicTheHedgehog''.
* AntiClimaxBoss: Chugga attempted to build up a big match during the tail end-of ''VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite'' by pitting his team he used the entire journey in ''White'' as Blair against the team LetsPlay/MasaeAnela built in playing ''Black'' version as Whitlea. The first round Emile completely sweeps Masae's team with [[GlassCannon Roc]], and the second round he wins by having a rather unfair advantage as most of Masae's second string were around 3 to 5 levels lower than Emile's team. In the end, Chugga beats Masae twice without losing even a single party member.
* ArcFatigue:
** Some viewers felt this way about ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles1''. A number of fans were happy that they could experience a game that can be difficult to get ahold of, but due to a number of [[ScheduleSlip unannounced hiatuses]] and the fact that Chugga did his usual HundredPercentCompletion on a game much bigger than any other he's [=LPed=], some were worn out, especially since the playthrough took a year to finish.
** This goes double for the sequel, ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles2'', shattering the first game's record in episode count and runtime, ending a year and 4 months after it started at 218 episodes and with a runtime of more than 5 days.
** Chugga took multiple episodes to cover everything in Castelia City in ''VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite''. Fans rejoiced when he finally made story progress. Chugga himself mocked this during the post-game.
* ArchivePanic: With over 2,000 videos and over forty Let's Plays, let's just say that it's gonna take a while if you want to catch up on every LP.
** At a whopping '''117 VIDEOS''' (this is after Website/YouTube removed its time limit), his ''Xenoblade'' playthrough certainly takes the cake (and 17 of those are just bonus episodes). Upping the ante is the fact that each video ranges from 15 minutes to nearly an hour; if every video was played front to back without breaks, it would take roughly two days to reach the end of the series.
** ''Xenoblade Chronicles 2'' surpassed its predecessor by a lot, with the main game and ''[[ExpansionPack Torna ~ The Golden Country]]'' lasting 218 videos, with most being 30-40 minutes long. This all combines to a total length of ''5 days, 10 hours, 23 minutes, and 59 seconds.''
* SugarWiki/AwesomeMusic: At the end of his ''Majora's Mask'' videos, he features a [=ZREO=] remix of a song from the game relevant to the events of the episode. And, in general, he tends to pick pretty good music whenever he needs to speed up footage or make a montage, often using rock covers of video game music by [=CarboHydroM=] and [=CSGuitar89=].
* BaseBreakingCharacter:
** Pango and Croque ended up being Emile's least popular villagers in his ''New Leaf'' LP, however many also feel he unfairly chose them as the designated bad guys of the village after bad first impressions and at times had to bend over backward to keep that narrative going. To anyone that knows how the ''Animal Crossing'' games work, his treatment of Croque, in particular, is actually very unfair, as what the villagers have as catchphrases are meant to be [[VerbalTic Verbal Tics]] with no ill intent, and other things that they say are not only random but they can easily be seen in a nicer context. Fans note all of his villagers tend to display acts of selfishness on occasion but Emile still enjoys their company causing some to accuse Emile of being a hypocrite.[[note]] As an example, Pietro wanted to replace his [[YouMeanXMas Toy Day]] gift just 4 days after he got it. While Emile is angry at that moment, Emile doesn't hold anything against Pietro in the long run and continues to see Pietro as one of his favorites.[[/note]] He even brings up the random dialogue in regard to Pango in episode 40, saying that he didn't want to talk about that aspect too much in order to keep the "sitcom" feel of the series intact by making the animals seem real. Even taking into account that one is supposed to treat the villagers with established personalities, some still feel he treated them a bit unfairly, as he seemed to be intentionally twisting whatever they said to be as negative as possible[[note]]For example, Croque mistakes him for a ghost after he returns from his long absence in Welcome Amiibo and begs him to leave him alone, and Chugga interprets this as Croque wishing death on him. Before that, Pango writes him a letter asking if he'd like to hang out with her, and Chugga jumps to the conclusion that she's trying to mug him.[[/note]], on several occasions even shooting Croque down or not acknowledging it whenever he actually said something nice or attempted to befriend Emile. Towards the end of the ''Welcome Amiibo'' revisit however, he did come to accept Croque's catchphrase as just something he says without any ill intent, and agreed to bury the hatchet with him (Pango had long since moved out by this point).
** To a lesser extent Rocco has gotten quite a division among viewers. Fans find him to be an entertaining JerkWithAHeartOfGold who offers nice wit without being overtly disrespectful to Emile and appreciate how Rocco [[spoiler: was the only one of the five starting villagers to still live in Pallet by the end of the ''Welcome Amiibo'' revisit]]. Others see Rocco as an uninteresting GenericGuy noting how his role as the [[TokenEvilTeammate mandatory village jerk]] was filled much better by Croque and Pango, while not having anything else to make him stand out in part of how OutOfFocus he was in the original run of the series.[[note]] It took until Day 35 to see the interior of Rocco's house, and Emile wasn't actively trying to get inside (or even notice he had never been inside), in contrast with his desperation to see Chester's home.[[/note]] There's also a section of fans who hate Rocco specifically for the events of Father's Day where [[spoiler: his long-winded dialogue cost Emile his chance to stop [[CreatorsFavorite Biscuit]] from moving out, with Chugga not even knowing Biscuit was leaving until it was too late]].
** Volvalgia the Dragonite from ''[[VideoGame/PokemonGoldAndSilver Pokémon Crystal]]''. Fans appreciate Chugga making use of a [[InfinityMinusOneSword Pseudo-Legendary]] that has been [[PowerCreep overlooked with time]] allowing the Dratini line time to shine and wish Chugga would use a Pseudo-Legendary again in a future team. Detractors argue that Volvalgia proves why Chugga '''shouldn't''' use these types of Pokemon as they don't get much use of [[AwesomeButImpractical their actual power in single-player]], with Volvalgia not reaching its final form [[EleventhHourSuperpower until the penultimate episode]], with the battle against [[SecretBoss Red]] being the only time she got to use her full power.
** Walnut the Forretress from ''VideoGame/PokemonColosseum'' is divisive, especially for Chugga picking her as his StoneWall over [[StarterMon Baggage the Umbreon]]. Supporters agree with Chugga's assessment that Umbreon's moveset is too lacking in ''Colosseum'' and that it was better to make use of a less popular and available Pokémon. These fans also note Chugga will have plenty of opportunities to use Umbreon in later [=LPs=], and Walnut's [[TakingYouWithMe Explosion attack]] created several chaoticly entertaining gambles throughout the Let's Play that wouldn’t have been doable with an Umbreon. Detractors of Walnut, however, feel Chugga's reasonings for using her are hypocritical, as while Chugga claimed that Umbreon wouldn't be able to do much besides "Bite and Toxic stall" Walnut ultimately spent most battles either using Rapid Spin (which is a move '''much''' weaker and more situational than Bite) or Toxic stalling, only broken up by the occasional use of Explosion. These detractors also note Chugga didn't get Spikes (one of the main reasons he cited for using Forretress) until the post-game and seldomly used the move at that.
** Haywire the Zebstrika from ''VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite'' is divisive with fans just due to how overshadowed she ended up being the entire LP (usually shown up by Emile's Krookodile). She certainly has her fans, having some perfect IV's and admittedly getting better once Emile finally gets some decent moves on her, like Overheat and Wild Charge, while others feel Zebstrika in general is just a Pokémon that tends to suffer from CantCatchUp at higher levels and feel Emile could have chosen a better member for his team (that would still qualify as being underrated). Emile even addresses this in the LP proper, bringing up a vocal part of his viewers that begged him to switch out Haywire (many of them actually wanted Emile to break his usual "no Legendary rule" and add Zekrom to the team, so that there would still be Electric-type coverage), and even admits to having seriously considered retiring Haywire before lamenting that he ''really'' wanted to give her another chance to prove herself and try and make her work... Though by the time ''VideoGame/PokemonBlack2AndWhite2'' rolled around, Chugga admitted that like Trifecta below, he doesn't think of Haywire very fondly in hindsight.
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: Emile's redux of his ''VideoGame/{{EarthBound|1994}}'' LP features an episode where after beating one of the 'Your Sanctuary' locations, he goes and buys the [[spoiler: really worn out and crapshacked]] house that was for sale in Onett. He then reads the story in a magazine, hidden inside the drawers of the house. Said story turns out to be one that's very crazy and even flat-out absurd as hell, that after finishing reading it, Emile ends the episode in complete and utter silence as he leaves the house; and doesn't even says his usual outro (besides showing off the latest Sound Stone progress before the end-card). In result, he never mentions or references the magazine's story ever again.
* BrokenBase:
** Emile's insistence on not showing off any special events in his ''Pokémon'' [=LPs=]. While one camp agrees that it would be unfair for him to showcase parts of the game that are no longer legally accessible and that trying to hack in the events would put his save data at too great of a risk, many others desperately want him to play through them on-camera rather than just talk about or allude to them. The latter opinion has become more prominent as a result of many other popular Let's-Players taking the risk and successfully showing off these events in their videos, and after Emile demonstrated the Southern Island event in a bonus video of his ''Pokémon Emerald'' playthrough.[[labelnote:Note]]This event is a notable exception to his "no parts of the game that can't be legally accessed anymore" rule, as it is activated through the use of a special e-Reader card rather than through Mystery Gift or distribution cartridges (which ''are'' legally purchasable, but are ludicrously expensive and have the possibility of being defunct). Despite the fact that Emile needed to spend over $100 to get the card's associated event item into his copy of ''Emerald'' as a result of the game's lack of e-Reader support (he needed to scan the card into a copy of ''Ruby & Sapphire'' whose save file had mixed records with another Third-Gen ''Pokémon'' game less than five times, then mix records between the ''RS'' cartridge and the ''Emerald'' cartridge to transfer the event item into the latter), said process is entirely doable by anyone with the necessary supplies and does not run the risk of running into any legal gray areas or harming any save files, hence why he chose to show off Southern Island.[[/labelnote]] This debate has, however, started to die down somewhat, thanks to Emile showing off the Regi Trio event in ''Pokémon Platinum'' and all the ones in ''Pokémon Black & White'', having apparently prepared for them far in advance, and by ''Pokémon Black 2 & White 2'', he has begun showing Event Pokémon through illegitimate means, further quelling most of the debate on this matter.
** His vocal distaste for the newer ''VideoGame/PaperMario'' games, particularly [[SitcomArchNemesis the game that broke his heart]], ''[[VideoGame/PaperMarioStickerStar Sticker Star]]'', has garnered this over time. Emile has picked up a habit of [[TakeThat bashing the games]] as well as [[{{Sequelitis}} equal parts mourning and taking jabs at the series' overall decline in quality]]. While many believe Emile has every reason to complain about his feelings on the ''Paper Mario'' series after ''Super Paper Mario'' and/or that it's [[RunningGag entertaining]] just how far he'll take it, a lot of people are also getting tired of his [[BrokenRecord near]] [[OverusedRunningGag constant]] mentions of the series and wishes he would just let it go already, or at least cut the new entries some slack. He's [[LampshadeHanging very aware of just how vocal he is about the subject]] and often apologizes for being too negative on it, and appropriately, the announcement trailer for his new let's play of ''VideoGame/PaperMario64'' takes this years-long arc to what may be its natural conclusion, showing Emile's exhaustion and near-breakup [[CrackShip with his beloved Paper Mario]], before the two agree to try to start things over... and he takes a moment at the end to assure the audience that he intends this to be ''the only'' joke about the modern games throughout the series.
*** His opinions on the latest game, ''VideoGame/PaperMarioTheOrigamiKing'' is even more contested. Before the game came out Emile complained how the game had some similarities to ''Sticker Star'' and decided to not buy it, despite ''Origami King'' being considered a SurprisinglyImprovedSequel to many fans and critics alike. [[https://twitter.com/chuggaaconroy/status/1364348646385471488 He eventually bought]] ''Origami King'' for a second-hand price to give it a chance, but by the time he finished the second chapter he didn't want to play anymore due to some problems he had with the game that left him conflicted. While a lot of people are okay with his opinions and are glad that he even gave it a chance at all, others felt a lot of his criticisms of the game are very nitpicky or downright bizarre. His opinions about the game's music[[note]]He felt the songs sounded very samey and thought the the previous games had much better variety[[/note]] and [[spoiler:Bobby's death[[note]]He thought his death was completely unearned due to Emile thinking he was [[TheScrappy annoying]] as well as contradicting ''Paper Mario'' lore by having him permanently die as opposed to coming right back like Bombette and Admiral Bobbery[[/note]]]] have been criticized a lot by his fans, with them thinking Emile is being completely {{bias|steamroller}}ed towards the older games as those games had similar issues which he never brings up. That being said, Emile slightly mitigated this later by stating that, while he may not be a fan of the ''Color Splash'' and ''Origami King'' approach, he doesn't consider either of them anywhere '''near''' as bad as ''Sticker Star''.
** In the ending to his ''Xenoblade Chronicles 2'' Let's Play, Chugga added text subtitling a [[TheUnreveal silent line]] from [[spoiler: Pyra, and later Mythra in bonus episodes]], implying [[spoiler: Pyra and Mythra lost their memories when they were revived]]. This sparked major debate. One faction claims Chugga was within his right to do this, especially as he substantiated his view through DummiedOut content and evidence in the game's internal files. Other fans believe the game's ending was intended to be [[AmbiguousEnding up to interpretation]] and Chugga should have left the ambiguity intact, and that Chugga was [[WordOfDante presenting his headcanon as fact]] by adding the text. The arguments hadn't died down by the end of his NewGamePlus videos, as Chugga had to address the issue again when he reached the ending for the second time. For what it's worth, [[spoiler:''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles3'' revealed that Pyra and Mythra (and Nia) eventually married and had kids with Rex]], throwing the debate if [[spoiler:they lost their memories at all]] in the foray again, though it doesn't necessarily contradict Chugga's assertion that [[spoiler:Rex and the Aegis would still hook up, but have to start all over again]].
** Emile's opinions on difficulty in Pokémon games, expressed both in his own videos and on ''LetsPlay/TheRunawayGuys'', have been very contentious, especially in the wake of the discourse surrounding the Switch-era games. Emile believes that Pokémon already has a built-in difficulty setting in the form of using [[LowTierLetdown bad Pokémon]], weaker moves, or other challenge runs. Some agree with these points, or praise Chugga for going against the usual online arguments. Others feel a SelfImposedChallenge is not a substitute for built-in difficulty settings, that having to actively handicap yourself for a challenge is a sign of poor game design, or simply take issue with Chugga's definition of "bad Pokémon" (see HePannedItNowHeSucks).
%%* CreepyAwesome: His profile icon during ''Majora's Mask'', and his one for ''Pokémon Emerald'' to a lesser extent.
* CreatorsPet: Trifecta the Dodrio in the ''Pokémon XD'' Let's Play, who hits all the requirements for this trope:
** Hated by fans: commenters despised her for [[{{Jobber}} fainting in nearly every important fight she was in without achieving much.]]
** Loved by the creator: Chugga loved her and kept insisting she was a good choice.[[note]]Though it did do well [[OffscreenMomentOfAwesome in Mt. Battle]] and against the final Miror B. fight.[[/note]]
** Put into big scenes for no reason: Chugga kept using her in major boss fights in an attempt to make her useful, even though every fight was one big EpicFail for Trifecta after another.
** Talked up by other characters: Chugga himself constantly shills her, and blames most of her failures on bad luck rather than poor tactical choices or her low defensive stats.[[labelnote:Note]] The most infamous moment was when Trifecta got OHKO'd by Ardos' Swellow, which Chugga blames entirely on luck despite the attack not being a Critical Hit, and failing to notice the real case of the KO: Voltaire paralyzing Swellow earlier had activated its Guts ability.[[/labelnote]]
*** For what it's worth, Chugga has said he doesn't look back on Trifecta fondly.
* DesignatedVillain: Some fans felt as though Chugga went a bit overboard in making Wally come across as antagonistic in his ''[[VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire Pokémon Emerald]]'' LP just for the sole reason of him getting a Ralts from Norman for free, when most fans agree that Wally is an IronWoobie. The fact that the LP was two years before ''Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire'' also didn't help matters, as Wally's character was more fleshed out by those games and retroactively made it seem like Chugga was demonizing Wally for unjustified reasons.
* DiscreditedMeme:
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZF2Shvy-7w Steve the Trooper]]. Chugga hasn't named any Pikmin Steve in his ''VideoGame/Pikmin2'' LP, and heavily implies that he is tired of all the fan attention the throwaway gag got. Though he indirectly made jokes about him during the LP, even in the finale. This trope is officially {{Zig Zagged|Trope}}. Chugga now acknowledges Steve exists, but he has a [[BigNo spirited reaction]] when someone other than himself (usually LetsPlay/ProtonJon) brings it up. He ends up bringing the meme up again in his ''Pokémon Emerald'' LP when he ends up fighting [=PokéManiac=] Steve, especially after this exchange:
--->'''Steve:''' Don't forget [[MemeticMutation what you've]] [[MemeticBadass done to me!]] I'll make it so [[NeverLiveItDown you can't forget!]]\
'''Chugga:''' ...[[BigOMG Oh my god!]] HE'S OUT TO GET ME! HE WANTS TO GET REVENGE ON ME FOR HOPING HE WOULD DIE! [[BigNo NOOOOOOOO!]] HE'S FOREVER REGISTERED IN MY CELL PHONE! Ahhh... [[AttentionDeficitOohShiny we found a Carbos, that'll raise overall speed...]] oh my god, I gotta start [[ParanoiaFuel sleeping with one eye open...]]
** "D'OH I MISSED" also seems to have somewhat slipped into this territory, since Chugga has barely said it for a while and when he does say it, he sounds a bit reluctant.
** "''VideoGame/{{Okami}}'' Bonus Video". While Chugga is still known to this day for the amount of bonus videos he ends up [[ScheduleSlip keeping on the backburner]], ''Ōkami'' stopped becoming the most infamous example after he finally ended up releasing the final bonus videos for it, concluding the LP for good.
* EnsembleDarkhorse:
** Steve the red Leaf Pikmin for being a trooper once had a Website/{{Facebook}} page. In the finale of ''Pikmin 2'', after going the entire game trying to mention him as little as possible, [[spoiler:he gives in and lets him have the honor of carrying the lightweight and final treasure in the game]].
** Slavinator (his Zigzagoon HM Slave) is the fan favorite of his ''Emerald'' team for similar reasons as Steve, but not to the same extent. Fans must've learned how [[CreatorBacklash Chugga takes things like that]].
** His ''VideoGame/PokemonColosseum'' LP gave us Affection the Misdreavus. Part of the reason for her nickname was to acknowledge how popular she was.
** Marshall the Quagsire, for [[spoiler:the spectacular last battle against Evice.]]
** Roary and Darmani (his Arcanine and Donphan in ''Crystal'') considering how difficult it was for him to capture them. Along with Methane, his shiny Weezing.
** ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossingNewLeaf'' gives us all of his villagers aside from [[{{Tsundere}} Pango]] and [[{{Jerkass}} Croque]]. Stinky and Pietro, a masked wrestler cat and a clown sheep with rainbow wool respectively stood out the most alongside Molly, [[RidiculouslyCuteCritter a friendly duck]].
** The members of Chugga's ''VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite'' teams tend to get this, but the most notable are Ottawa the Samurott and Hilbert the Garbodor, the former of which being a BornLucky [[ActionGirl female starter]], and the latter for his [[LethalJokeCharacter surprising usefulness for a living pile of trash]], even being made into the leader of a biker gang. And that's just on the ''White'' end; the ''Black'' team has the trainer Whitlea, who's only really showcased for version differences, [=GoldenPant=] the Scrafty due to her [[MythologyGag nickname]], and [[TheUnpronouncable :(]] the Beartic due to her [[CurbStompBattle astounding victory]] against Drayden.
** His mother quickly gained a lot of fans thanks to her deadpan nature making for a great contrast to Chugga's hammy tendencies, as well as her hilarious guesses at names of Smash Bros. characters.
** If the comments are anything to go by, [=FamilyJules'=] performance as [[VideoGame/ChronoTrigger Gato]] is ''very'' popular with fans.
** Dugtrio in his ''Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX'' LP struck a chord with fans not just because of his already eccentric canon personality, but because of Emile's ''hilarious'' voice-acting for him.
* EpilepticTrees: For the insane amount of cool knowledge and trivia Chugga has on the many games he plays, there's been a few times (mainly in earlier series) where he's mentioned 'facts' that range from plausible speculation to merely cool ideas with little to no actual credence to them. This wouldn't be that notable if it weren't for the fact that [[WordOfDante due to his popularity and the fact the majority of his information is very well-researched, these can end up becoming somewhat infamous spread misinformation, contrary to his intention]].
** When he talks about the "theme" of ''Majora's Mask'' along the lines of Link getting progressively less small and scared. It's not a bad idea, but it's largely WildMassGuessing since there's no real evidence of this, taking a lot of the meaningfulness and emotion out of it since it's really just Chugga's made up theory. It's not helped by the fact that part of the theory relied on Link's personal feelings, none of which are ever displayed and doesn't really contribute much to the game.
** In ''Emerald'', Chugga claims Gyarados ''was'' originally a Water/Dragon-type as fans have bemoaned it not being throughout the series' history, but due to the combination's complete lack of weaknesses barring Dragon itself [[note]]which in Generation 1 meant that in practice it essentially had ''no'' weaknesses, as the only attacking Dragon move at the time was Dragon Rage, a move with a fixed damage of 40[[/note]] with Gyarados itself already being immensely strong, it was changed to Water/Flying at the last minute [[GameBreaker out of fear of it being overpowered]]. While this certainly seems to make sense on paper, there's no official material backing it up, and actual data in the games suggests the Dragon-type and its weaknesses were added late into development, which would seem to contradict the story altogether.
** Chugga's theory that Wes from ''Colosseum'' [[RogueProtagonist was originally supposed to be the]] BigBad of ''Pokémon XD.'' Unlike many of his other [[ShownTheirWork well-researched]] info about the games he Let's Plays, there doesn't seem to be any WordOfGod anywhere supporting this, and yet Chugga still [[FalselyAdvertisedAccuracy passes it off as fact]].
** Chuggaaconroy's take on what each of Yami's forms in ''Ōkami'' symbolize doesn't seem to have any factual basis. It's actually become a BerserkButton in the ''Ōkami'' fandom due to so many people [[WordOfDante accepting it as canon.]] He [[OldShame later apologized]] for spreading this theory around when he finally did the second Devil Gate Trial several years later, as he revealed he first heard the idea from a [=YouTube=] comment and forgot to do any research to see if it was actually true (he stated that he'd added it to his list of things to fact-check, but that it had ended up mixed in with his list of confirmed data and he'd forgotten that he'd never actually looked into it).
** In ''VideoGame/SuperMarioGalaxy2'', the somewhat infamous subject of the game's [[WhatCouldHaveBeen once-planned story]] being scrapped with [[Creator/ShigeruMiyamoto Miyamoto's]] counsel is brought up on multiple occasions, with Chugga voicing a distaste for the sequel being a somewhat confusing plot-light reboot of the first game. However, on one occasion, Chugga mentions that the original story plan for ''2'' would have focused on how Lubba met Rosalina. While this certainly makes a lot of sense as Lubba is the main new character and the closest thing to an equivalent for Rosalina - who was the subject and narrator of the first game's storybook - and their relationship is hinted at but remains mysterious in the final game, no in-detail source about what 2's story could have entailed seems to have surfaced over the years, let alone how Lubba could have factored in.[[note]]This one, notably, is likely a matter of inconclusive research, as mention of such a concept was added to [[https://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_Super_Mario_Galaxy_2_pre-release_and_unused_content Super Mario Wiki's own unused content page for the game]] all the way back in 2012, and has remained without a known source since.[[/note]]
* FandomRivalry: Chugga's fans vs. LetsPlay/SlimKirby's fans had this at one point. Slim and Chugga themselves aren't hostile at all, though, with Chugga even referencing Slim pretty often in LetsPlay/TheRunawayGuys' ''VideoGame/MarioParty'' [=LPs=].
* FountainOfMemes: His team in ''[[VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire Pokémon Emerald]]'' so far already have a page on Facebook for his Lombre and at least two pages for his Zigzagoon, Slavinator.
* GrowingTheBeard: He started as a guy playing games for fun with no experience making videos. Over time, his Let's Plays have gotten more and more comprehensive, coupled with professional editing and presentation, to the point where many have come to regard his Let's Plays as the most complete walkthroughs on the games he's playing. Considering that Chugga has continued to up the quality and presentation of his LP videos, the beard may never stop growing. There are three commonly-cited beard-growing moments:
** The first is ''VideoGame/{{Okami}}'', which was arguably the first game Chugga took more seriously and went for a more comprehensive approach with, and showcased a game he loved but that hadn't had much recognition. This was also the point where his editing became more professional, giving the story scenes the treatment they deserved.
** The second is ''VideoGame/KidIcarusUprising''. In the final bonus video ([[ScheduleSlip released long after the rest of the series]]) Chugga himself says he believes this was the series that introduced design elements and stylistic choices that would become the standard for his [=LPs=] from then on.
** The third is ''VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiSuperstarSaga'', which was not only the first LP to incorporate viewer input on a regular basis compared to select moments from previous [=LPs=], but was also the first LP to incorporate his modern thumbnail aesthetic, which would simultaneously be carried over into ''LetsPlay/TheRunawayGuys'' at the exact same time period starting with ''VideoGame/SuperMario3DWorld''.
* HarsherInHindsight:
** His ''VideoGame/SuperMarioSunshine'' LP can be painful to watch if you know that he was suffering a CreatorBreakdown at the time and was [[StepfordSmiler trying to hide it.]]
** Chugga's "I wash my hands 20 times a day and I never get sick!" joke in his ''Kid Icarus Uprising'' LP is hard to listen to knowing how sick he got during ''Xenoblade Chronicles''.
** A few episodes of his ''VideoGame/YoshisWoollyWorld'' LP reference the "Yoshi Commits Tax Fraud" meme; then in the finale, Chugga reveals that he was audited by the IRS one week after said Let's Play was announced. For what it's worth though, Chugga had the incident PlayedForLaughs when he revealed it and took the opportunity to tie it back into the meme.
** In an ''VideoGame/AnimalCrossingNewLeaf'' video, Stinky sneezes in his face and Chugga hopes he's not coming down with some kind of "kitty flu" and talks about how unsanitary Stinky might be due to all the bacteria growth underneath his mask. Chugga ends up getting sick during the LP, and then there was his absurdly long infection during ''Xenoblade''.
** During the ending credits of ''VideoGame/SuperPaperMario'' he mentions really looking forward to ''VideoGame/PaperMarioStickerStar''. It ended up becoming his most hated video game of all time, to the point that he had some less than happy [[BerserkButton reactions]] to it getting brought up in LetsPlay/TheRunawayGuys.
** The bad habit Chugga has when he says there's some game elements or extra content that he wants to save for a bonus video, which very often never materializes. One particularly glaring case was during his ''Okami'' playthrough in which he started going through the final demon gate gauntlet for the last stray beads, jokingly calling out his viewers for expecting the next video to be delayed 6 years if it ever comes out at all... it ended up taking ''eight''. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] in ''VideoGame/LuigisMansionDarkMoon'' by saying that the bonus videos will come and that "This is not ''Okami''." He also brings this up during his reveal of his ''VideoGame/Splatoon1'' LP, stating he plans on covering multiplayer during the LP as opposed to afterwards since he's fully aware of his bad track record with releasing bonus content.
** During his ''VideoGame/{{Okamiden}}'' series, he accidentally read "sit down" as... [[TongueTwister something else]]. After laughing at himself for a bit, he showed gratefulness that [=YouTube=] doesn't have censors. This episode came out before [=YouTube=] started demonetising videos for containing swear words.
** He repeatedly talks about how nobody remembers ''VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiPartnersInTime'' in his playthrough of it. In the March 2018 Nintendo Direct, a Platform/Nintendo3DS remake of ''VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiBowsersInsideStory'' was announced, skipping ''Partners in Time''.
** When introducing his ''VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiSuperstarSaga'' LP, he calls the ''VideoGame/MarioAndLuigi'' series a good alternative to ''VideoGame/PaperMario'' after the latter had fallen on hard times, having experienced a perceived artistic decline and severely reduced public presence compared to other ''Mario''-series spin-offs. Now it's the ''Mario & Luigi'' series-- or rather the company that made them-- that has fallen on hard times, with Alpha Dream filing for bankruptcy.
** In episode 11 of ''Super Luigi Galaxy'', he allegedly {{face palm}}ed while a Wii Nunchuck was strapped to his wrist and jokingly asks why Nintendo makes their product so durable and [[TemptingFate to make their product "a little crappier"]]. When the Switch was released, there were problems with the controllers' control sticks drifting after around a year of use.
** Emile's criticisms of the [[VideoGame/LuigisMansionDarkMoon Polterpup]] in his ''Dark Moon'' Let's Play feels more warranted and much less nit-picky with the introduction of the Polterkitty in ''VideoGame/LuigisMansion3'', which does the exact same things Polterpup did in the last game, but with ''none'' of its positive traits.
** In ''Super Mario Sunshine'', he basically calls out how rigged Mario's trial is and the basic plot is Mario getting framed by Bowser Jr. for vandalizing the island with graffiti. Between ''Pokémon Crystal'' and ''Super Luigi Galaxy''/''Pikmin'', he and other Let's Players were temporarily and wrongfully suspended from [=YouTube=].
** In the second half of ''Animal Crossing: New Leaf'', his birthday wish is "for my next Let's Play to be a good one". His next LP (not counting ''Pokémon XD'') was ''Xenoblade'' which including postgame took 119 episodes and only 19 of them were post game. There was also his illness putting ''Xenoblade'' and his channel in general on hiatus.
** During his playthroughs of the ''Pikmin'' games, Chugga occasionally joked about how PNF-404 would be a better place if the playable Captains worked to reduce the populations of some of the more frustrating enemies to fight such as Wollywogs and Orange Bulborbs. His wish would come true in the worst way possible in ''VideoGame/{{Pikmin 4}}'', where a decreased populace would become a gameplay problem due to above ground enemies not respawning after they're killed.
** All of Chugga’s playful teasing and collaborations with LetsPlay/MasaeAnela take on a sadder light when Masae revealed on Twitter in January 2024 [[https://x.com/masaeanela/status/1749980618572677542?s=46&t=NRncZcPaMVNXl5a0MqPFNQ that the two haven’t been friends for several years]], thanks in large part from how uncomfortable Emile made her. Masae goes on to state she had cut all contact with Emile prior to the ''VideoGame/Splatoon2'' LP and the video she guest starred in was uploaded without her consent.
*** Even more wince inducing is during her eventual appearance during the multiplayer videos for the ''Sonic Colors'' playthrough, with Chugga remarking that all of his other intended guests ended up either retiring, getting caught up in a scandal, or vanished from the internet completely. Those last two categories essentially are where he ended up some years later.
** During Episode 19 of the ''Black 2 and White 2'' LP, Chugga goes on a few-minutes-long rant about the female protagonist's shoes, states it's something he "thinks about a lot", claims he named himself "Sneakz" in Join Avenue because of it, and discusses buying the shoes for the cosplayer in the LP's announcement video. All this became far harder to watch when the 2024 allegations revealed Chugga's interest in shoes was a lot less innocent than it seemed, and that he'd engaged in roleplay with a 15 year old in 2010 when he was 19.
** In Pokemon Crystal, he doesn't think there are any bad dragon Pokémon, "except maybe Altaria". By the time of his original Pokémon Black and White project, he gives Hydreigon a bad review, reasoning it evolves too late and by the time it does fully evolve there's little need for it and claims to have trained one personally so he knows firsthand how much of a chore it is.
* HeartwarmingInHindsight: During the LP of ''VideoGame/PokemonXDGaleOfDarkness'' Chugga expressed disappointment with [[Anime/PokemonTheSeries Ash]] for [[spoiler: breaking his promise to return to Pidgeot]]. Fast forward to the final episode of ''Anime/PokemonJourneysTheSeries'' where [[spoiler: Ash reunites with Pidgeot and recaptures them]].
* HePannedItNowHeSucks:
** While the bios he gives to all obtainable Pokémon in his Pokémon LP's are a great source of insight as to how useful they are, Chugga's harsh criticisms of lower-tier Pokémon tend to rub their fans the wrong way. While most won't argue with them being bad in competitive play, Pokémon such as frequent punching bags Flareon and Glalie still tend to be perfectly usable in-game. This leads to their fans arguing that his opinions on them are skewed due to looking through the lens of a high-level competitive player, and that gives casual fans the wrong impression of them.
** As mentioned above, Emile has gotten flak from fans of the later ''VideoGame/PaperMario'' games ([[VideoGame/MarioAndLuigiPaperJam its crossover with Mario & Luigi]]) with fans of these later games (particularly ''VideoGame/PaperMarioTheOrigamiKing'') feel he's judging the game too much for what they aren't rather than what they are.
** Over the years, Emile has gained flak for his negative viewpoint on ''[[VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire Pokémon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire]]'' with him going as far on one occasion to call them the worst mainline Pokémon games[[note]]Though he followed it up by mentioning he's never played the Sinnoh remakes nor does he plan to[[/note]]. Many fans of the remake feel he's letting the omission of the Magma Hideout and Battle Frontier cloud his judgment of the games.
* SugarWiki/HeReallyCanAct: Although Emile's voicing of characters in games is mostly out of silliness and light-hearted fun with no intention of trying to match professional voice-acting, some of his voices for certain characters are legitimately convincing and well-done in some areas. Some noteworthy examples include Fassad and Porky from ''VideoGame/Mother3'', Miror B from ''VideoGame/PokemonColosseum'' and ''VideoGame/PokemonXDGaleOfDarkness'', Dimentio from ''VideoGame/SuperPaperMario'', and Girahim from ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword''. His eccentric personality often helps with fleshing out the character he plays, and many people have noted that Emile can be really good at voicing different characters in the moment.
** In his ''[=EarthBound=]'' remake, Let's Play, he imitates Aloysius Minch's [[LaughingMad laugh]], making it sound like a realistic hysterical laugh including the coughing at the end (which was him actually coming close to coughing).
** In ''Pokémon Mystery Dungeon DX'', Emile capitalizes on this trope by not only recording Rayquaza's lines in post, but adding a big reverb and layered pitchshifted vocals in order to give off a VoiceOfTheLegion-eque presence.
* HilariousInHindsight: [[HilariousInHindsight/ChuggaaConroy Has its own page]]
* HoYay:
** PlayedForLaughs when he and LetsPlay/ProtonJon sing [[WesternAnimation/{{Aladdin}} "A Whole New World"]] for a donation at Website/TheSpeedGamers marathon, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JrjglkKv_28 which can be seen right here]]. It was so popular, they followed it up with [[WesternAnimation/TheLionKing1994 "Can You Feel The Love Tonight"]]. Yes, really.
** A few moments with Jim in ''Majora's Mask''.
** Parodied with Francis of ''VideoGame/SuperPaperMario'', where he (jokingly) chooses the options to have Mario call him irresistible and a stallion.
* HumorDissonance: His puns, especially those involving the names of characters in ''Pokémon Colosseum''. Are they incredibly witty considering how quickly he comes up with them, or is he trying too hard and spoiling the few genuinely good ones that he comes up with?
* IKnewIt:
** Hours before his announcement of his Let's Play of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword'', [=GreatMomemtsInLPing=], a channel dedicated to moments from various Let's Players, released [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKY0YyJBlYc a video of a moment]] from Chugga's ''Majora's Mask'' playthrough in which he was playing ''Skyward Sword'' before going into the episode proper. The description ponders whether it would be a future project.
** Many People had speculated that his 37th LP would be another ''[[VideoGame/EarthBound1994 EarthBound]]'' LP due to his constant hints at wanting to redo it for years.
** Nearly everyone guessed LP 44 would be ''VideoGame/PokemonMysteryDungeonRescueTeam'', due to it being a "spinoff series new to the channel" and being delayed in January 2020 due to unexpected circumstances, which lined up perfectly with the announcement of the ''DX'' remake.
** Similarly, just about everybody successfully guessed LP 45 would be ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles2''.
** Many people correctly guessed that LP 47 would be a replay of VideoGame/PaperMario64 following the "one of the most important games to my childhood" hint, as Emile has praised the game many times in the past.
** In his LP of ''Black 2 and White 2'', many fans were able to guess that Chugga was evolving his Eevee into Vaporeon simply by process of elimination.
** [[https://www.reddit.com/r/chuggaaconroy/comments/14tnbe8/i_know_chuggas_final_pokemon_blackwhite_2_team/ At least one fan]] managed to successfully predict Chugga's last team member in ''White 2'' would be the Crustle from Seaside Cave.
* ItsShortSoItSucks: What some of his fans cry whenever he posts videos that are usually less than twenty minutes long. He calls them out on it when he points out that for his earlier [=LPs=] he couldn't even go past ten minutes due to [=YouTube's=] restriction at the time, so they should be happy that he can post longer videos now.
* JustHereForGodzilla: His ''Splatoon'' playthroughs combine the games' story mode missions with multiplayer matches that focus on using a new weapon so viewers can learn strategies for it... but most people, upon learning the contents of the playthrough, just come to watch Chugga play online multiplayer Splatoon, especially since all his other projects have been single-player games with no real-time interaction with others (bonus videos dedicated to multiplayer modes excluded).
** Others have had the exact opposite reaction, instead only watching the single-player modes, the feature of the day, and/or the weapon bio, ignoring the rest of the episode.
* MandelaEffect: Several people have claimed Chugga has done a Let's Play of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTwilightPrincess'' or ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime'', but [[https://twitter.com/chuggaaconroy/status/1331373912022724616 he has done neither one]]. This is especially ironic in the case of ''Twilight Princess'' as Chugga never finished the game until 2017.
* MemeticBadass:
** His Zigzagoon Slavinator in ''Pokémon Emerald'' became one by staring down at Brawly's Makuhita while ACOOLTENT (Chugga's Tentacool) chipped away the last of its HP via Poison Sting. It gained four levels just by ''staring at him''.
** Affection the Misdreavus from his ''VideoGame/PokemonColosseum'' playthrough. Despite having the ability Levitate, opposing trainers [[ArtificialStupidity kept trying to use Ground or Normal-type moves against her]] to no avail. Chugga decided to make her a permanent team member and [[RunningGag kept track]] of how many times the opponent would use moves she was immune to. The "It doesn't affect Misdreavus" gag quickly became the most-remembered part of the whole LP.
** Chugga '''himself''' became one when he mentioned during the LP of ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask'' he got his apartment because his [=YouTube=] channel came up in Google's autofill before Creator/ChuckNorris.
** Aidan the Vaporeon became known as an almighty BloodKnight among the fanbase shortly after his debut episode in the ''VideoGame/PokemonBlack2AndWhite2'' LP. During Chugga's very lengthy attempt to capture him as an Eevee, Aidan nearly wiped out his entire team, which included [[OlympusMons Victini]]. Fans quickly dubbed him a godslayer, with Chugga himself joking that he probably spared the other Pokémon at Castelia Park from his wrath by adding him to his team.
%%** [[VideoGame/{{Pikmin}} Steve]].
%%** His ''Majora's Mask'' LP has a lot: [[BadassBystander Jim]], [[MundaneMadeAwesome Deku Link's snot]], [[UnstoppableMailman the Postman]], and [[VoluntaryShapeshifting himself as Goron Link]].
* MemeticLoser:
** Steve was ''intended'' to be this at first, but it [[GoneHorriblyWrong Went Horribly Wrong]] and he became a MemeticBadass instead, [[DiscreditedMeme much to Chugga's dismay.]]
** Trifecta the Dodrio in ''VideoGame/PokemonXDGaleOfDarkness''. Whenever it's out, it usually gets annihilated first-turn.
** Supernova the Clefable tends to be this due to her absolutely ''dreadful'' luck.
** Haywire the Zebstrika to an absolutely ''absurd'' degree, as she was ''always'' getting shown up by Terrabite the Krookodile and generally suffering from CantCatchUp for most of the series. Chugga later stating that her nickname idea had been stolen off of a forum by the person who suggested it sealed her fate as this, with Chugga himself declaring that she was flat-out cursed.
** Lavos quickly became one in the ''VideoGame/ChronoTrigger'' LP, due to the existence of the "Kill Lavos Button". They way Emile structured the series means Lavos has been anticlimactically killed once per view of each alternate ending video.
* MemeticMutation:
** Steve the Red Pikmin. Regretted and sometimes [[LampshadeHanging lampshaded]] by Chugga. Chugga lampshaded this with Bulby the Bulbmin.
** The "No coin left behind movement". Much like Steve, Chugga regrets saying it and thinks his fans are absolutely insane for actually doing it.
** If you see someone doing [[ThatRussianSquatDance the Russian dance]] in a similar manner to the [=ReDeads=] in [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask Ikana Castle]] and someone else starts singing ''MOSKAU! MOSKAU! I DON'T KNOW THE FRIKIN' WORDS!'', you now know why.
** There's a picture going around of the time Emile made a funny face during a WebVideo/StephenVlog video.
** The episodes of ''Pikmin 2'' when he encounters the Waterwraith.
** It doesn't affect [[VideoGame/PokemonColosseum Misdreavus]]...
** [[VideoGame/Splatoon1 "I'd like to bring special attention to Damage Up!"]]
** [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword "Don't forget about the wing ceremony."]]
*** And then you have those who combine the above two (especially since their respective playthroughs are back-to-back). "I'd like to bring special attention to the wing ceremony!" is one such example.
** The aforementioned HilariousInHindsight of Chugga's [=LPs=] seeming to predict sequels. This has led to people thinking Nintendo takes notes from Chugga and works more on franchises he plays, and/or predicting any game he plays is now guaranteed a sequel.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hm7sW6a3JIQ His dance to the Hiker theme from]] ''VideoGame/PokemonBlackAndWhite'' became this mere hours after the video was posted.
** Fans making custom versions of his logo for games he hasn't actually Let's Played.
** [[https://i.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/001/897/729/ee2.jpg Candle Pyra]] from the announcement video of his ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles2'' Let's Play.
** Buff Chugga.[[labelnote: Context]]On Twitter, when Chugga took a [[https://twitter.com/chuggaaconroy/status/1376645432001097729?s=20 screenshot]] of his [[UsefulNotes/COVID19Pandemic COVID vaccination]], many were surprised at how muscular his arm was, unaware that he works out on a frequent basis; even hiring a personal trainer.[[/labelnote]]
* MemeticPsychopath: Ursula from ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles2'' is treated by Chugga as if she was a threatening villain, due to her [[ThatOneSideQuest tedious sidequest]] (which due to the Let's Play format, he had to do for one episode, and it took almost '''23 hours''' for him to complete).
* MisBlamed: The way he perceives [[VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles2 Ursula]] makes it seem like she's responsible for the [[ThatOneSidequest horrors of her sidequest]], when it was Tipitapi that was responsible for all the worst aspects of the quest. {{Downplayed}} in that he does give talk crap for what he's done, and his treatment of Ursula is clearly done in jest.
* NeverLiveItDown:
** Like LetsPlay/ProtonJon and "move faster pokey" before him, Chugga has the same negative reaction whenever the name '[[VideoGame/{{Pikmin}} Steve]]' is mentioned near him.
** Also similarly to Jon, particularly the delays with his ''VideoGame/Superman64'' playthrough, Emile's tendency to upload bonus videos long after the main LP is done has become a recurring joke among fans. In particular, the Nintendo Gallery video for ''VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaTheWindWaker'' and the North Ryoshima & Kamui Trial Demon Gate videos for ''VideoGame/{{Okami}}'' have become a frequent target of jabbing from fans, especially due to fact that it took nearly '''eight years'''-- long past the six-year maximum that Emile joked about in his video for the Ryoshima Trial Demon Gate-- to finish the other two ''Ōkami'' bonus videos. It's reached a point where every time Emile promises that he'll upload bonus videos for a let's play in due time, fans will immediately jump on to voice their skepticism.
** Chugga wasn't wrong about Dodrio being a solid and overlooked Pokémon, but thanks to a number of questionable strategies, bad luck, and the all-double battles format of ''Gale of Darkness'' being unkind to [[GlassCannon Glass Cannons]] like her all leading to her fainting a ''lot'', Trifecta's performance in that LP tainted a lot of his fans' perception of the Dodrio line's usefulness.
* NightmareRetardant:
** The Tanetane Island MushroomSamba from ''VideoGame/Mother3''; in the game, it's utterly horrifying. Perhaps in a failed attempt to bring humor to an otherwise terrifying part of the game, Chugga instead ruined it by acting like a stoner through the entire thing. This was received so poorly that [[https://youtu.be/XG4pULkFq4g he actually uploaded a second video with his commentary completely muted]] to preserve the original atmosphere.
** Trying to make conversation with the moon in ''[[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaMajorasMask Majora's Mask]]'' while he's bored and waiting for aliens to attack the Romani Ranch. "...read any good books? Ah, the chapter in the bible on the apocalypse. Ah."
* PlayerPunch: In the ''Animal Crossing: New Leaf'' LP, [[spoiler: Biskit suddenly moving out with no warning after Emile took every precaution he could to prevent it]] feels like one, especially with the way Emile's voice just loses all the joy from it.
* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap
** Pandora the Absol from ''[[VideoGame/PokemonRubyAndSapphire Pokémon Emerald]]'' was widely derided upon her capture due to lacking any physical [=STAB=] moves to compliment her high Attack stat (prior to [[VideoGame/PokemonDiamondAndPearl Gen IV]] moves were categorized by type with all Dark-Type moves being special), many predicting that she would be the weak link in the LP. Ultimately, however, Pandora proved to be an amazing asset against several Gym Leaders and even managed to single-handedly defeat the first half of the Elite 4, with many now considering her to be the MVP of the team.
** Munchkin the Granbull in ''VideoGame/PokemonColosseum'' was disliked for being an EleventhHourRanger who took the place of widely assumed ([[WhatCouldHaveBeen and originally planned]]) [[EnsembleDarkhorse Flygon]] as the team's final member, with Munchkin losing their first onscreen battle [[DiggingYourselfDeeper only making things look worse]]. Ultimately, however, Munchkin proved their worth in subsequent battles thanks to their strong attacks and Intimidate ability making for good kinship with his other team members.
* TheScrappy:
** While previous Pokémon teams had varying degrees of pushback over their final member, ''XD'' took it to a whole new level with Trifecta the Dodrio. They didn’t appear [[EleventhHourRanger until the start of the final dungeon]] and thanks to its pitiful defense stats and shallow movepool they’d prove to be TheLoad overall, with any moments of [[ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman proper utility being rare.]] Making matters worse, Chugga would constantly defend her inclusion throughout the [=LP=] and blame her losses on poor luck [[NeverMyFault rather than acknowledging her flaws or taking responsibility for his tactical errors]]. Even Chugga admitted years later, [[CreatorBacklash that Trifecta was a poor choice for the team]].
** Supernova the Clefable in ''Platinum'' took up the ButtMonkey mantle left behind by Trifecta. While Clefable does have a varied move pool ([[OlympusMons Mew]] being the only Pokémon that can learn more Technical Machines than it), this utility was limited by Chugga’s decision to [[SelfImposedChallenge not use any [=TMs=] that the player could only obtain once per cartridge]]. This resulted in Emile having to rely on [[AwesomeButImpractical high power low accuracy moves]] throughout the adventure with Clefable getting [[BornUnLucky horrendous luck]] with said moves ultimately not being as powerful as Emile anticipated even when they '''did''' hit. As a result, Supernova [[TakeThatScrappy became the team member to sit out of Victory Road]] to free up the HM Slave spot. While obtaining a Life Orb in the post-game (whose ill effects are ignored with Supernova's Magic Guard ability) provided a much-needed power boost, it was ultimately wasn't enough [[CantCatchUp to keep up with the high power and versatility provided by the rest of the team]].
* ShipToShipCombat: Chugga has a tendency to root for the FanPreferredCouple over a game's OfficialCouple in many games he plays, most notably both ''Xenoblade'' [=LPs=], which combined with his tendency to get [[{{Squee}} very gushy]] about his favorite ShipTease moments, can cause this trope in the comments sections. This can even bleed over into characters outside of the ship: a major point of contention in his first ''Xenoblade'' LP is his condemnation of Sharla for initially being a Shulk/Melia ShipperOnDeck before jumping to Shulk/Fiora.
* ShockingMoments: Chugga [[PrecisionFStrike dropping the F-bomb]] during [[https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=vm4WEfWXtyo Episode 131]] of ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles2''. At this point in time, Chugga hadn't had any uncensored swears come from his mouth on his channel for a good 12 years, with the last time that "fuck" had been uncensored being in 2009 with [=LPs=] such as ''VideoGame/Mother3'' or ''VideoGame/SuperMarioSunshine''. At that point, however, Chugga's channel [[CharacterizationMarchesOn hadn't fully established its identity yet]], and monetization issues weren't a problem, so once these two points were amended, Chugga's channel had become more family-friendly, with uncensored swears being reserved for LetsPlay/TheRunawayGuys. In this episode, the fact of [[spoiler:Haze knowing herself only as Fan la Norne because Amalthus stealing half of her Core Crystal left her without her memories]] was so [[FridgeHorror frighteningly morbid]] to Chugga, that he could ''only'' express his thoughts on it [[ObligatorySwearing through uncensored swearing]].
-->''"That. Is. FUCKED up."''
* SpoilAtYourOwnRisk: Early in his ''VideoGame/XenobladeChronicles1'' LP, he [[http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1s27uvv flat-out said]] that he will ban anyone that posts spoilers for the game in the video comments. Sadly, that didn't stop them.
* TransAudienceInterpretation: When Chugga first encountered Lasagna the Crustle in his ''Black 2 & White 2'' LP, they initially were a female crab, only to become a male crab instead when Emile reset the game due to not having Sturdy. This caused many people (including Emile himself) to interpret Lasagna as non-binary, or as a trans male. Though the fact they managed to mate with Jade the female Flygon and produce Trapinch eggs could disprove this theory.
* UnexpectedCharacter:
** Fans weren't expecting Dusclops/Dusknoir to be Chugga's final team member in his Platinum LP, especially since he skipped on using Duskull earlier in the game and even written it off for its poor attack power and low speed.
** People were also pleasantly surprised to see Crustle join Chugga's ''White 2'' team, given how he held a low opinion on the Pokemon in the first ''Black and White'' LP. Chugga himself admitted that it was his fans' passion for Crustle that caused him to change his mind.
* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: Many of his earlier series contain frequent references to (and jokes about) [=YouTube=] features that no longer exist, such as Video Responses and the five-star rating system, which may confuse newcomers to the channel.
** For a more specific example, The LP of ''[[VideoGame/PokemonRedAndBlue Pokémon FireRed]]'' had Chugga nickname his Spearow/Fearow "Khold", as a (lighthearted) TakeThat to fellow Let's Player "The Khold One", for using a Farfetch'd (which you get by trading a Spearow for it) on his team. In 2009, The Khold One was a relatively popular Let's Player, with him and Chugga having comparable viewership. In the time since the ''[=FireRed=]'' Let's Play, however, The Khold One has fallen into obscurity (posting a video in 2019 only to joke about it), with his last Let's Play occurring in January 2014.
* ViewersAreGeniuses: He doesn't hold back the tech lingo or obscure game references. Most of the time, it's ''Ōkami''. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] in the Spirit Crucible Elpys from ''Xenoblade Chronicles 2''.
-->'''Chugga:''' I've met 12 year olds who've talked to me about ''god philosophies'' in [=RPG=]s that I've Let's Played. [[SoProudOfYou You all are brilliant!]]
* WatchItForTheMeme: Some people who've subscribed to him later on went back to watch ''Pikmin'' just to see who this Steve person everyone talks about originated from.
* TheWoobie:
** Supernova the Clefable has become this in his Let's Play of ''[[VideoGame/PokemonDiamondAndPearl Pokémon Platinum]]'' due to constantly [[BornUnlucky getting screwed over by bad luck]] whether it be flinching, getting inflicted with a status ailment, or having its attacks miss whenever Chugga uses it in battle.
** His LP of ''VideoGame/PokemonXDGaleOfDarkness'' has [[GlassCannon Trifecta the Dodrio]], who's regularly seen as TheScrappy due to her fainting in one turn from a bad match-up or an unprecedented mistake on Chugga's part. Even though Chugga tries to convince his viewers that Dodrio is a good Pokémon, its only showcases of that potential are either off-screen in Mt. Battle or against the final Miror B. match where 5/6 of his Pokémon are [[GreenThumb Ludicolo]]. For fans of the three-headed bird, it might have been especially painful.
** Haywire the Zebstrika became this, in spite of her BaseBreakingCharacter status. She's always [[AlwaysSomeoneBetter upstaged by Terrabite]], she got swapped out for Zekrom in the final fight, she kept losing battles in the post-game that she could have potentially won, and when she ''finally'' TookALevelInBadass and started contributing, she gets a chance to win against Alder and ends up [[YankTheDogsChain losing the fight by about a hair]]. The old black and white mare ain't what she used to be...
