* AudienceAlienatingEra: Extreme Justice and the PowerArmor. Also, whenever he’s written by [[Creator/TomKing Tom King]].
* FanPreferredCouple: It's safe to say that fans of Boostle greatly outnumber fans of Booster shipped with anyone else, and the same with Beetle.
** When it comes to hetero patterns Trixie from Vol 1 tends to be the number one choice for Booster's future wife.
* FanonDiscontinuity: For many fans, the Superbuddies.
** In his current series, the most unpalatable aspect of his portrayal in ''I Can't Believe It's Not The Justice League'' - that he'd married an old lady for her money - [[RetCon turned out]] to be something he'd made up just to see if Ted would believe it. Doubles as a bit of a TakeThat, since this was in the last issue of Dan Jurgens' (who created Booster) run before Keith Giffen and J.M. [=Dematteis=] (who wrote Superbuddies) took over.
** Also, his portrayal in [[Comicbook/BatmanTomKing Tom King’s Batman Run]] and [[ComicBook/HeroesInCrisis Heroes In Crisis]].
* HoYay: With Ted Kord/Blue Beetle. It started out as something the fans noticed by accident but eventually the writers started intentionally writing it that way because it was funny.
** Occasionally poignant, too. Booster nearly kills himself [[YouCantFightFate trying to save Barbara Gordon]] to prep himself for saving Ted. And then consider that Ted [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy was in love with Barbara...]]
* IronWoobie [=/=] JerkassWoobie: Rip Hunter is a horrible manipulative liar, but... he also has to keep everyone at arm's length to protect himself from his enemies, who'd gladly murder him as an infant. And there's the fact he lost the only woman he's even mentioned caring about to that very thing.
* MemeticMutation: His DayInTheLimelight episode in ''[[WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague Justice League Unlimited]]'' featured a RunningGag in which civilians he rescued throughout the episode would mistake him for Green Lantern and call him as such before they run off. ''Despite clearly having different main colors.''
-->'''Civilian:''' Thank you, Green Lantern!\
'''Booster Gold:''' ''For the last time,'' I am ''not'' Green Lantern! If I was Green Lantern, my costume would be green!
* MyRealDaddy: Similar to what happened to his friend Ted Kord (the second {{ComicBook/Blue Beetle}}), Booster Gold was created by Dan Jurgens, but he is mostly associated with his time in the {{ComicBook/Justice League International}} under J. M. [=DeMatteis=] and Keith Giffen.
** Potentially subverted as Jurgens' run on Booster Gold Vol 2 was far more beloved than [=DeMatteis=] and Giffen's run and later minis like Time Masters and Blue And Gold have caused the pendulum to swing back to Jurgens' Booster being the far more beloved and remembered version for modern fans. Helping matters is ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueAction'' using the Jurgens' version of secret Time Master.
* PortmanteauCoupleName: Boostle (Booster/Ted, from Booster Gold/Blue Beetle). Ted has occasionally referred to the two of them teaming up as "Blue and Gold" which fans have also adopted for this.
* ShipsThatPassInTheNight: You would be surprised how many people ship Ted/Michelle despite the fact that they've never met.
* TearJerker:
** Ted Kord's funeral, where Booster was unable to speak and just broke down crying. That Booster was going back in time to rewatch it makes it even more tragic.
** Booster going back in time to have more adventures with Ted. Especially when Ted [[spoiler: tells Booster that he knows him well enough to have figured out that he was from the future, and is worried that this means they aren't "close" in the future anymore. Booster assures him that they are still "really close" and that won't ever change]].
** Any time Skeets is badly damaged, or even killed. Like during the ''Flashpoint'' tie-in, where given the events un-happen, he effectively died for good.
* {{Woobie}}:
** Tell me you didn't want to just give him a great big hug in OMAC Project.
