* BigLippedAlligatorMoment:
**
** Mirage Mania from the first game certainly qualifies as well.
* BreatherLevel:
** Early levels in Book 2 from Volume 1, mainly because the final level of Book 1 was much harder. At least, until you hit Art/TheSphinx. Or the Genies.
** Similarly, all of Book 3, Volume 1 shouldn't be that big of an issue as it pales in comparison to the difficulty of Book 2, Chapter 9 up until about the latter half of the book, and by then you should still be properly equipped to put up with whatever the game has left.
* EvenBetterSequel: Volume 2 introduces companions & rainbow tiles, features a more compelling plot, improves the Tome of Knowledge, has fewer AwesomeButImpractical treasures, is more flexible with bonus words, lets you choose which minigame you want to play & allows you to replay specific books for points. (Clips & Giggles was removed, unfortunately.)
* GameBreaker: Some treasures are extremely powerful:
** In the original game, the Poseidon's Shield/Aegis of Athena is useful and powerful in pretty much every level, reducing the damage of attacks by a whole heart. If you're a strong player and the damage scales up, the treasure is applied before scaling up the damage, which can mean it can block over 2 hearts of damage.
** The Hand of Hercules does a whole heart of extra damage for each attack, which makes attacks stronger. In addition, it also grants bonus damage for metal words, which makes metal words extremely powerful in Book 3, Chapter 4. Spelling a word like "heavy" will do extreme amounts of damage to enemies. This can be furthered by using treasures that synergize, such as the Genie Lamp (already useful here due to every enemy having Power Down, thereby giving more utility for Power Ups that would be used) with a Power Up potion or the Arch of Xyzzy with words like "alloy."
*** This would be nerfed in Volume 2 so that the Impossible Engine adds 3/4 of a heart and doesn't have anything for bonus words.
** In the second game, the Mad Hat/Time Helmet gives you gems upon scrambling, which is very beneficial in making your attacks stronger, giving bonuses such as healing from the emerald tiles, and helping you get rainbow tiles. This is especially broken in arena, where you can fill your tiles with gems before an enemy attacks, and the animation gives you time to look at your tiles.
* GoddamnedBats:
** If you have really good spelling, everything but the bosses is this.
** The Deckswabber in Book 2, Chapter 5 has attacks and a stun that aren't particularly dangerous. However, he's the first enemy with Gem Steal, which is really bloody annoying. You can only hope he doesn't steal a valuable gem.
* GoddamnedBoss:
** The Eternal Wanderer and Frankenstein. The Eternal Wanderer's level even has several GoddamnedBats. Fittingly, the title to the level is called Highway to Heck.
** Lady Summer-Speak in Volume 2.
* MemeticMutation: Bookworms Adventure Deluxe gained a sort of ironic fandom in 2018, when a Website/YouTube commenter named Beef Stew made joke requests to several popular gaming channels to play or review the game.
* NightmareFuel: A few of the bosses can qualify as this. Surprising that a worm can destroy them with the English language...
* SpiritualSuccessor:
** Bookworm Heroes, a defunct multiplayer mobile game, can be seen as this.
** Letter Quest, a similar game which added a few more RPG elements.
* ThatOneBoss: Pretty much every boss that has immunity to words that are particularly short (unless you normally spell longer words).
** The Hydra is the first survival battle in the game, and it is capable of inflicting every status ailment you've seen in the game up to that point. Thankfully, each of the heads do not have much HP.
** If you haven't died, Medusa does a lot of damage with her attacks.
** The fight against is a battle for survival where you have to face several monsters you've faced before (which while weakened still retain their moves from before, meaning that you'll experience virtually everything you've seen before thrown against you) with at the end. himself is capable of using pretty much every status ailment in the game against you, and he has three-AND-four letter immunity.
** Even for a final boss, in the second game is awfully difficult. Its Plot Hole attack does a large amount of damage, and to make matters worse it comes with a status ailment that prevents Lex from moving for a certain period of time. And it has three forms that you have to take down in succession without healing whatsoever (although healing potions and gems can still be used).
* ThatOneLevel:
** The Labyrinth of Crete has monsters that enjoy stacking poison against you, and to make matters worse some of them are capable of stunning as well.
** Delphi's last two enemies do what appears to be a broken extra heart of damage, which means that without Aegis of Athena, the Greater Basilisk and Medusa can do 2.5 hearts of damage with an attack. They can nearly insta-kill you at full health if the damage is scaled up.
** Genies, Genies, Genies has several monsters that can inflict all kinds of status ailments on you, and to make matters worse each of them has armor. In particular, the Fortune Reversal attack is particularly nasty, as it heals and powers up the enemy, all while powering you down. Finally, the monsters do lots of damage, probably an extra heart more than they should. If the damage is scaled up, a monster can take away over half your health if you don't have the Aegis of Athena.
** The Haunt has DemonicSpiders with each of them (except for one, which is still a pain to fight) capable of powering you down, powering up, and healing themselves all at the same time. The boss of the stage even has an extra power down move. Thankfully, each of them are weak to metal words, which gives them a severe weakness to the Hand of Hercules.
** The Celestial Realm from Volume 2. Stuns and tile attacks abound.
** Also from Volume 2, Virtually a World. Your gems & potions are in grave danger.
