1* GeniusBonus: There are a lot of historical references in the strip, as might be expected when you have Creator/BenjaminFranklin as a primary character. One which actually gets missed a lot, though, is that Ben previously helped two people. The first, listed earlier on, was UsefulNotes/AbrahamLincoln -- another is not expressly named until much later, but turns out to be Edward Murrow, a philanthropist and war reporter who made his name in 1930 and later would be an incredibly powerful reporter during the RedScare.
2* HilariousInHindsight: [[http://www.agirlandherfed.com/1.1264.html 9/13/14.]] When Clarisse goes headhunting for a political ally, she says, "I need someone who's part of a living legacy. Also someone who's not related to a dead president or senator." Her target suggests UsefulNotes/DonaldTrump -- "Household name, started his own dynasty..." -- but she says, "[[EvenEvilHasStandards I have standards]]." Well, apparently the standards of a CardCarryingVillain who plans on murdering a majority percentage of the world so she'll be a powerful ghost when she dies are higher than half of America's. Given the themes of the strip, no one would have batted an eye if the joke was ''actually'' made during his presidency.
3* JustForFun/OneOfUs: An in-universe example, the ghost of Abraham Lincoln has spent most of the last two decades on the internet, and in particular, loves TV Tropes, [[http://www.agirlandherfed.com/1.1425.html posting under the name Abe-1809.]] Based on her reaction to that revelation (particularly including the AltText), Mare also is one. Later, he describes the concept of tropes to an elderly Japanese woman. [[http://www.agirlandherfed.com/1.1464.html She responds with another common internet meme . . . .]]
