Stephen Farrelly (Irish form: Stíofán Ó Ferghaile, born 28 January 1978 in Cabra, Dublin) is an Irish {{professional wrestl|ing}}er. After having worked as a bodyguard, he took up the sport of professional wrestling after training with Cliff Compton, Tank Toland and Cindy Rogers in Larry Sharpe's Monster Factory wrestling school in April 2002, at Wrestling/BretHart's suggestion. He received an injury early on but returned two years later, debuting in Irish Whip Wrestling as Galldubh before returning to the name he was better known for, Sheamus O'Shaunessy. His exploits here lead to booking with larger promotions, including one affiliated with the Global Professional Wrestling Alliance in Austria. From there, Sheamus would eventually earn a developmental deal with the largest pro wrestling promotion left in the world, Wrestling/{{WWE}}.

He is the first Irish Whip Wrestling International Heavyweight Champion, and FCW Florida Champion, a three time [[http://www.wrestling-titles.com/wwe/wwf-us-h.html US Champion]], three time [[http://www.wrestling-titles.com/wwe/wwe-h.html WWE (World Heavyweight) Champion]], one time [[http://www.wrestling-titles.com/wwe/wwe-world-h.html World Heavyweight Champion]], and, alongside [[Wrestling/ClaudioCastagnoli Cesaro]] as Wrestling/TheBar, a four-time WWE Raw Tag Team Champion and one-time [=SmackDown=] Tag Team Champion. He was also the 2010 Wrestling/KingOfTheRing winner, and 2012 Wrestling/RoyalRumble winner. He won the 2015 ''Wrestling/MoneyInTheBank'' ladder match and thus its Money in the Bank contract, which he successfully cashed in at Survivor Series 2015 to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

He has appeared in a handful of movies including Two-Ton in ''Film/TheEscapist'' and Rocksteady in ''Film/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtlesOutOfTheShadows''.

!! "Tropes after tropes!"
* AbortedArc: Right after his HeelFaceTurn, it looked like Sheamus was setting up for a pretty good feud with uber monster heel Wrestling/MarkHenry. But Wrestling/TheBigShow's return from injury torpedoed the storyline and we never got to see them go after it in a real, intense feud.
* AffablyEvil: Whether he's a heel or a face, he still engages in witty banter with his opponents during in-ring chat moments every now and then.
* TheAlcoholic: A subversion. By his own admission, he does drink, and fairly often, but more as a social thing than any sort of addiction, being never really drunk. [[NeverGetsDrunk Although that could just mean that he's so used to liquor by now that he holds it fairly well since, according to him, he can drink 15 pints in one sitting.]]
* AnimalMotif: Not deliberately, and it's not anything that Sheamus or WWE are doing, but ever since he got the nickname "The Great White," fans have taken to drawing cartoon sharks with Sheamus's signature hair.
* ArchEnemy: Wrestling/JohnCena, Wrestling/TripleH, Wrestling/{{Christian}}, Wrestling/AlbertoDelRio, Wrestling/TheBigShow, Wrestling/JeffHardy, Damian Priest, [[Wrestling/{{Walter}} Gunther]] and Austin Theory.
* AscendedMeme: More a meme coming full circle. After Wrestling/{{Edge|Wrestler}} called him Beaker one night, the [=IWC=] took it and ran with it. However, during the HalloweenEpisode of ''Raw,'' it came back full circle when Franchise/TheMuppets were hosting. After Beaker was bullied by Christian, and Christian was run off by Sheamus, Sheamus told Beaker he wasn't gonna be able to make it to the family reunion this year.
* AwesomeButImpractical: His initial finisher, which was a high-angle crucifix powerbomb, has been largely dropped from his moveset. Although it looks devastating, it's also extremely difficult to execute - particularly on larger opponents.
* AxCrazy: Became this after moving to Raw. On WWE's ECW, he did say he wanted to remove men he found unworthy from the WWE roster but it was mostly just talk and standard underhanded tactics. On Raw he actually did remove a man from the WWE roster (Jamie Noble)
* BackhandedApology: To Wrestling/JohnLaurinaitis
* BashBrothers: [[Wrestling/TheBar With]] Cesaro. There's a reason they're the five-time tag champions.
* BeardOfBarbarism: Post-2015, where he's got several bands in his beard and looks like a raider from the dark ages... which was sort of the whole point.
* BeardOfEvil: After he dispensed with the braids, his beard in 2016 as a heel is much thicker and wilder than it was at any point during his face run.
* BadassLongRobe: As King Sheamus.
* TheBerserker: He has had lots of long lasting, visible injuries and sells them as he wrestles too. Despite this he just [[AttackAttackAttack does not stop attacking]].
* BerserkButton: Don't slap the guy. Or spit on him, for that matter.
* BigWhat: His somewhat understandable verbatim reaction to John Laurinaitis fining him $500,000. Most of the reasonable commentators agreed that, while punishment for his actions [[note]]i.e. blowing his top and kicking a ref in the face after a bad call[[/note]] was warranted, the fine amount was a ''bit'' [[DisproportionateRetribution over the top]], given the situation.
* BloodKnight: Even as a face, his primary motivation is to just get into fight after fight. Hell, it's the main reason he didn't walk out on Triple H like the others. During their feud in mid 2010, Sheamus cracked Triple H in the back of a head with a lead pipe during The Game's heartfelt farewell to Wrestling/ShawnMichaels. Yeah, Triple H could've sued Sheamus for assault or the like, but instead he picked himself up and gave Sheamus what the Irishman himself admitted to be ''the biggest arse kickin' he ever got.'' It's something Sheamus grudgingly, but willingly, respects Triple H for.
* BoisterousBruiser: When John Cena warns him that besides The Big Show they may also be facing [[Wrestling/BigELangston one of the strongest man he has ever seen]] Sheamus's response is basically "Sounds like fun."
* BrainsEvilBrawnGood: This is how his feud with Wrestling/DamienSandow went. Sandow brings puzzles like the Shell Game to the ring to try and humiliate Sheamus; Sheamus in turn just kicked him in the head over and over. Partially subverted as it's shown Sandow as violent and aggressive, and Sheamus as clever and crafty.
* BullyingADragon: Did this to Wrestling/TheBigShow. While they were in the middle of a feud for the World Heavyweight Championship. [[HoistByHisOwnPetard It cost him dearly.]]
* ButNotTooWhite: '''Subverted'''.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Can effortlessly lift The Big Show.
* CheapHeat: When WWE was having performance in Manchester, England, heel Sheamus quickly gained the fans' ire by mentioning that Liverpool (the biggest rival of Manchester United, the majorly supported football club in Manchester) having more European Cups than Manchester United and singing Liverpool's de facto jingle "You'll Never Walk Alone".
* CombatPragmatist: Sheamus doesn't care much if you're distracted. He came to fight, and if you're busy doing or looking at something else, he'll just nail you with a Brogue Kick as soon as he sees the whites of your eyes. [[Wrestling/BryanDanielson Daniel Bryan]], Wrestling/DeanAmbrose, and Wrestling/RomanReigns all found this out the hard way.
* ContinuitySnarl: At one point Wrestling/{{Christian}} wanted a match against him (before the "One More Match" gag) and joked to him that that they were both born without last names as part of a reason why it should happen. Wikipedia research or prior exposure to both Sheamus and Christian reveals that their characters both had last names for years before making it to TV.
* CoolOldGuy: Sheamus' gimmick from about mid-2022 onward makes use of the fact that, at 45, he's decidedly outside of his prime by wrestling standards. He's a prickly old bastard who has no time for anyone's nonsense and will decisively kick the face off anyone who tests him or gets in the way of what he wants.
* CrucifiedHeroShot: Often
* DeathFromAbove: He has started using a diving top-rope shoulder tackle as one of his signature moves. Usually pulls it out about once a match.
* DemotedToExtra:
** A multi-time WWE Champion who fought Triple H in a high profile match at ''Wrestling/{{WrestleMania}} 26'', put him out of action for nearly a year at the next PPV and became King of the Ring. Since winning [=KotR=], however, he's subsequently [[{{Jobber}} lost more often than he's won]]. When Triple H returned, Sheamus interrupted his promo... and was promptly beaten down like he was an afterthought and then subsequently squashed by Wrestling/EvanBourne. He managed to win the United States Championship from [[Wrestling/BryanDanielson Daniel Bryan]], who invoked his rematch clause for ''[=WrestleMania=]''... in a match that subsequently got pushed off the card into a dark match that turned into a meaningless battle royal won by the Great Khali. From main eventer who put a legend out of action to not even on the show a year later.
** Happened again after Royal Rumble 2014. Part of it had to do with his being on the shelf with an injury for about four months, but with so many high-profile storylines happening, Sheamus was sort of pushed off to the side.
** Perhaps the biggest sign of re-promotion came when he won the Money in the Bank ladder match in June 2015, and then when he cashed it in five months later to take down Wrestling/RomanReigns and become Wrestling/TheAuthority's new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. No big.
* DenserAndWackier: Sheamus went from being the guy who wanted to destroy everyone to be, after winning Money in the Bank in 2015, the King of Comedy Heels, being put in a comedic position that didn't seem to present or treat him as a threat for everyone else on a consistent basis. His World Heavyweight title run put him somewhere between the two extremes.
* EvilRedhead: When coming up to WWE's ECW anyway, up until his [[HeelFaceTurn feud with Mark Henry]].
* ExtremeMeleeRevenge: Oh, good lord. After The Big Show wriggled his way out of what seemed like a sure title loss at ''Survivor Series'', Sheamus grabbed a chair and ''went postal.'' By Sheamus's own count, he delivered '''thirty-one''' chair shots to Show, who left the arena bleeding and was still barely able to walk nearly a week after the PPV.
* EyeTake:
** If the picture above is any indication, he's got a pretty good crazy face.
** Look into the eyes of Sheamus and the face of Christian [[http://youtu.be/xs6bgDIzPb4?t=7m54s here during the Memphis Street Fight.]]
* FashionableAsymmetry: Color rather than placement or pattern. He wears one red wrist band and one black one.
* FatalFlaw: His HairTriggerTemper gets him in trouble from time to time. He's been DQ'ed or counted out of several matches. Not to mention getting fined an impossibly high amount of money in storyline for kicking a ref in the face (and this has all been during his [[{{face}} babyface]] run).
* AFatherToHisMen: Sheamus has a noticeable bond with the members of The Brawling Brutes and is also the clear leader of the group. A good example occurred in the 2022 Royal Rumble, when Ridge Holland was eliminated in front of Sheamus as the latter made his entrance; many other heel stable leaders would have admonished their stablemate for coming up short, but Sheamus simply gave Ridge a reassuring pat on the shoulder, told him "Don't worry, fella. I'll get him," and went right after AJ Styles, who had eliminated Holland.
* FightingIrish: On his first appearance in WWE's ECW, he gives a speech to the crowd in Gaelic, the language of his homeland. He also likes to brag about the prowess of his countrymen in battle.
* FieryRedhead: He isn't a person you don't want to make mad.
* FinishingMove:
** In his indy/FCW days, he used the Celtic Slam (Death Valley driver), the Fiery Red Hand (a falling leg trap chokeslam, ultimately changed to an exploder suplex dropped into a side slam) and the Irish Curse (side slam backbreaker), the last of which remained in his moveset as a signature move. He would also use a vertical suplex slam in minor opponents.
** Upon debuting in WWE in 2009, he dropped all the mentioned and instead adopted the Brogue kick (bicycle kick) and the Celtic Cross (a running crucifix powerbomb), also called High Cross or Pale Justice.
** In 2012, he changed the Celtic Cross for the White Noise (an over the shoulder back to belly piledriver, in the line of Dave Finlay's original Celtic Cross) and added the Texas cloverleaf.
* FiveMovesOfDoom: Double axe handle(s), running powerslam (or diving shoulder block), a ten-pack (occasionally more) of forearm strikes to the chest outside the apron, White Noise, Brogue Kick.
* ForeignCussWord: Subverted. Uses the word "arse" - a ''lot''. Despite the fact that 'arse' is almost exclusively used in British English and its dialects, most people know what it means - and those that don't can quickly use context to figure it out.
* ForeignWrestlingHeel: It's usually averted. Those it was exploited for all its worth during his heel run in 2015; his first act after winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship that year is to form a MultinationalTeam consisting of himself (Irish), the English Wrestling/WadeBarrett, the Bulgarian Wrestling/{{Rusev|AndLana}}, and the Mexican Wrestling/AlbertoDelRio.
* FunPersonified: For a giant, hot-blooded-Irish brawler, Sheamus definitely has a case for at least downplaying this trope. He's all about having fun-- he smiles ''all the time'' as a babyface (see WhenSheSmiles below), and even as a heel, he makes fun of himself for his appearance (see SelfDeprecation below). And in both personas, he seems to get immense joy out of a good arse-kicking, whether he's giving or receiving.
* GameBreakingInjury: A torn labrum in August 2013 left him out of in-ring action for five months until ''Royal Rumble 2014''.
** As of November 2019, he's been missing for about six months due to a concussion. He was also diagnosed with spinal stenosis in that same time frame [[note]]This the same condition that sent Wrestling/{{Edge|Wrestler}} to an early retirement, although to be fair, Edge wrestled several years after his initial diagnosis[[/note]] leaving his long-term wrestling future in doubt.
* GeniusBruiser: Was an IT technician before he was a wrestler.
%%* GettingCrapPastTheRadar: Please check the trope page to make sure your example fits the current definition.
* HairTriggerTemper: Part and parcel of being the stereotypical FieryRedhead.
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: As expected, given the amount of years in the business. Began as a heel. Went face to Mark Henry. Turns heel again after attacking Daniel Bryan. Turns face after teaming with Cesaro to form The Bar. The Bar turns heel again by attacking the Hardy Boyz. Turns face once again after being drafted to Raw to reunite with Drew [=McIntyre=] for a short time. Turns heel again after Royal Rumble by giving [=McIntyre=] a brogue kick.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: At Wrestling/MoneyInTheBank 2013, he set up a ladder between the ring apron and the announce table and attempted to drive a smaller competitor through it. He's used this spot a couple of times, including 2011, where the victim was Wrestling/SinCara and it caused a storyline injury that shelved the luchador for several months. Fast forward two years later, where an attempt to do the same backfires. Sheamus goes through the ladder himself and severely bruises his thigh.
* IdiotBall: Ran with this heavily on the September 10, 2012 edition of ''Raw'' in regards to his Brogue Kick.
* IHatePastMe: Admits that he became a bully.
* ImprobableHairStyle: For years, he wrestled while sporting what was basically ShonenHair. He ditched it after having a FaceHeelTurn in 2015... in favor of a Mohawk.
* InTheHood: Has been seen wearing a hooded sweatshirt in the middle of a Florida summer.
* InternationalShowdownByProxy:
** All of his pre WWE feuds with the Scottish [[Wrestling/DrewMcIntyre Drew Galloway]], and not just because they first feuded over the IWW International Championship. (and not just because they have fought in the Verona Football Club wearing Green and Blue either)
** He represented the UK (despite being from Ireland) with Drew [=McDonald=] and The Celtic Warrior against Team Austria in the European Wrestling Alliance.
* {{Jerkass}}: As a {{Heel}}.
* LargeHam: Just like most other guys in ProfessionalWrestling, in Sheamus' case it's just funnier with his Irish accent. Especially his promo against Mark Henry here. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LoCs4d7RAe8&feature=related Go to about 1:33-2:00 to see Sheamus bring the hog,]] [[VerbalTic fella!]]
* LawOfChromaticSuperiority: Subtly. Right around the time that he won the World Heavyweight Championship, he changed from his black-and-green trunks to black-and-red ones.
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[LosingYourHead He's ashamed for they lost your head!]]
* LetMeTellYouAStory: Sheamus generally uses this to insult a Superstar with whome he's having a feud, normally stating it's an "Old Irish story" or the like. The implication ultimately ends up insulting the other person in some way, shape, or form.
* LightIsNotGood: His entrance from April 2[[superscript:nd]], 2015 and onwards. It starts with the lights around the arena going dark before revealing him standing on the stage with a tremendous burst of white light that renders his already pale form virtually fluorescent.[[note]]Worth noting that this lighting started out tame but gradually increased in intensity as time went on.[[/note]] It also originally featured a montage of religious imagery on the Titantron video, later replaced with a more generic montage of Sheamus that focused primarily on his Mohawk. It debuted after his FaceHeelTurn and Sheamus has largely been a heel ever since.
* LightningBruiser: He's about 270 pounds and can perform a slingshot shoulder tackle, but can also lift a guy the size of The Big Show onto his shoulders if necessary.
* MadeOfIron:
** He came back from getting [[OneHitKill the Punt]] from Wrestling/RandyOrton in ''one week''. If any more needed to be said, look at the end of his match with Mark Henry at ''Summerslam 2011''. Henry ''smashes him through the barricade around ringside!'' Sure, he didn't make the 10 count, but the fact he was still conscious enough to try deserves mention. He misses absolutely ''no action'' from this and comes back that Friday seemingly unhurt.
** [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded]] by Wrestling/MichaelCole on the August 26, 2011 episode of ''Smackdown'', who points out that Sheamus can endure a massive amount of pain.
** On separate occasions, Randy Orton hit him with the RKO and John Cena hit him with the Attitude Adjustment... only for him to get up in less than a minute and knock them out cold with the Brogue Kick.
** Mark Henry gave him the [[FinishingMove World's Strongest Slam]] onto the steel steps. The announcers made it out to be crippling injury. He comes back next monday, ''[[BigDamnHeroes running to the ring]]'' to help John Cena.
** The very next day on Super Smackdown he faces the Great Khali and gets attacked by Jinder Mahal. After taking a few blows, he dodges a Khali Chop, Brogue Kicks him, then he gives Jinder a High Cross.
** In a match against Wade Barrett, Christian interfered and soon Barrett and Christian were beating on Sheamus, who was trapped in a corner. Not only did Sheamus fight out of it, he delivered a Brogue Kick to Barrett and nearly powerbombed Christian.
** There's also been the slightly common occurrence of him kicking out of powerful moves at a 1 count. This is [[DiscussedTrope acknowledged]] in-universe. If he doesn't kick out until 2, one of the announcers will often comment on how badly his opponent has ''worn him down.''
** At Hell in a Cell 2012, he became the first (and to date, still the only) person to receive a [[OneHitKill KO Punch]] from The Big Show and kick out of the subsequent pin. He lost the match anyway after taking a second KO Punch, but the fact that it took two of them is still significant.
* ManlyFacialHair: Memetic as his look may be overall, it's hard to argue that the ''enormous'' red muttonstache doesn't suit Sheamus as a hot-tempered, super-heavyweight brawler.
* MilesGloriosus:
** Talks a big game about how much of a badass he is, and with his LightningBruiser style he certainly ''could'' live up to his own hype. However, as a heel, he has proven himself a cringing coward when pitted against an equal opponent. As a face, he averts it; at the beginning of his face turn he tanked the Punt of Doom, stood up to Mark Henry when no one else would and made the big man back off. And then ''breaking out of the Khali Vicegrip!'' Through sheer brute force! Heck, Mark Henry keeps ''running away from him!'' Originally, it was just because he had a steel chair, but now just Sheamus coming is enough to send Mark running for the locker room!
* MultinationalTeam: Forms one after he wins the WWE World Heavyweight Championship consisting of himself (Irish), the English Wrestling/WadeBarrett, the Bulgarian Wrestling/{{Rusev|AndLana}}, and the Mexican Wrestling/AlbertoDelRio.
* NasalTrauma: 2021 was not a kind year to Sheamus' nose. Humberto Carrillo accidentally smashed it during a match in May, not enough to take Sheamus away from wrestling, but nevertheless requiring surgery and forcing him to wear a protective mask for several months. Unfortunately, during a match against Wrestling/JeffHardy in September, Sheamus would [[TemptingFate dramatically rip off his face mask after getting the upper hand]], [[HopeSpot only for Hardy to smash his face with his elbow]], breaking Sheamus' nose ''again''.
* {{Oireland}}: Though he does come by the nationality as honestly as one possibly can - he was born and raised in Dublin.
* OneHitKill: You might be plenty tough, but if that Brogue Kick hits, unless your name is Big Show, you're not getting up.
* OnlyOneName: When he signed with WWE and was assigned to FCW, he kept the Sheamus O'Shaunessy ring name that he used before the company. Once he joins the main roster by debuting in the ECW brand and, later, Raw in 2009, he became simply known as Sheamus.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The Irish name "Seamus", is usually spelled without an H. This is similar to Shawn O'Haire, an English name that is usually spelled Sean.[[note]]It's likely the reason was to make it easier for non-Irish viewers to pronounce; many ''Harry Potter'' fans expressed surprise when Seamus Finnegan's name was said out loud in the fifth film - not knowing it was pronounced that way.[[/note]]
* PhraseCatcher: As part of the Brawling Brutes, "It's Fight Night!"
* PowerStable:
** Formed one called the League of Nations in 2015 after winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
** Later formed another in 2022 called The Brawling Brutes with [[Wrestling/BritishStrongStyle Butch]] and Ridge Holland.
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: He did not want to be another funny drunk Irishman, instead playing up the warrior culture of Ireland. This is referenced in his explanation for standing up to the rampaging Mark Henry: "I'm Irish!"
* PutOnABus: Due to suffering a torn labrum from the 2013 Money in the Bank ladder match, Sheamus was put on a bus until ''Royal Rumble 2014''.
* RedBaron: The Celtic Warrior and The Great White. Calls himself The Pagan Gladiator on Twitter.
* RedemptionPromotion: His HeelFaceTurn ''completely reverted'' his BadassDecay to the point he beat the Great Khali, who'd been on the warpath as of late, and ''forced his way out of the [[FinishingMove Khali Vicegrip]] through sheer brute strength!'' He '''overpowered''' Khali! '''TWICE!!!'''
* TheRival:
** Sheamus and [[Wrestling/DrewMcIntyre Drew Galloway/McIntyre]] pounded on each other to near death all over Ireland and The UK. Galloway would fail repeatedly to beat O'Shaunessy for the IWW belt but Sheamus claimed he was his toughest opponent who gave him the toughest matches. Galloway would finally beat O'Shaunessy in Real Quality Pro Wrestling. Then they got to do it all over again for the FCW Champioship, where Drew [=McIntyre=] would end up being the one defending the belt.
** Sheamus later brawled with [[Wrestling/WadeBarrett Wade Barrett/Stu Sanders]] all over the UK. Though they have not had an official WWE feud, Sheamus has continued to face the man on a regular basis there too. It sort of parallels the English/UK feud between Wrestling/WilliamRegal and Finlay, though not as overt.
* SelfDeprecation:
** He's a great sport about the fact that he has a very unique look.
** Sheamus meets [[Franchise/TheMuppets Beaker]], and immediately talks about the upcoming family reunion.
** Once angrily told Wrestling/SethRollins to not "bring [Sheamus'] family into this" after Rollins said Sheamus looks like "[[UsefulNotes/McDonalds Ronald McDonald]] with a bad haircut."
* ShoutOut:
** Has recently started using a finisher that was used by his spiritual predecessor, Dave "Fit" Finlay, in WWE for a number of years.
** Also, his behavior at one point in the feud between himself and Wrestling/AlbertoDelRio. He stole Del Rio's CoolCar, took it for a joyride around town, and brought it back a complete mess. Maybe this was unintentional, but the sequence seemed an awful lot like how a Face Wrestling/EddieGuerrero would have dealt with an Alberto Del Rio. In addition, it happened in Texas, which was Guerrero's home state.
** In December 2012, Sheamus ended up presenting to John Cena a whole list of Irish victories including Johnny Logan winning the Series/EurovisionSongContest and Series/FatherTed kicking Bishop Brennan up the arse. (Sheamus later went on to attempt to describe the entire premise of Father Ted to Cena. Cena didn't get it.)
** After his 2015 comeback and heel turn, he's adopted the catchphrase of "Are you not entertained?", which is one of the more well-remembered lines from ''Film/{{Gladiator}}''. However, where in the film the phrase is shouted by the hero as part of a ShamingTheMob moment, Sheamus uses it almost ironically - or perhaps as a TakeThatAudience[=/=]BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor against segments of the WWE Universe that thought he was generic and uninteresting as a face.
* SpikyHair: And has only ever appeared on TV once without it spiked (and that was because his hat was over it). up to eleven when he returned in 2015 sporting a ginger mohawk about three inches high. By 2016, the spikes have grown to [[AnimeHair near absurdity.]] One can only speculate as to the amount of product required to maintain the hairstyle.
* SquashMatch:
** How he won his World Heavyweight at ''[=WrestleMania=] 28''. It took all of 18 seconds.
** On the April 5 (taped March 19), 2009 episode of FCW TV, he had a match with Joseph Canterbury that was Brogue Kick -> Irish Curse Backbreaker -> pin, lasting all of 31 seconds.
* StopBeingStereotypical: When asked on WWE.com if he got along with Finlay, Sheamus said he did not think he would because he hates leprechauns and wants to pay respect to his ancestors who slaughtered their enemies while naked. In spite of this, he was good nice to Wrestling/{{Hornswoggle}} when they finally met, though it was over {{three month|rule}}s and a face turn later.
* StudentAndMasterTeam: The master of his team with Mad Man Manson in Irish Whip Wrestling
* TagTeam: (in FCW w[=/=][[Wrestling/YoshiTatsu Mr. Yamamoto [[=Yoshi Tatsu=]]]]): Movers and Shakers. Wrestling/TheBar with Cesaro.
* UnderwearOfPower: With a cross on the back.
* UnstoppableRage: If you get him mad, heaven help you. Even his HeelFaceTurn hasn't changed this aspect of his character.
* UrExample: He is the first Irish WWE champion and as the first European to win the Royal Rumble Winner.
** He's also the first winner who was not born in North America. While Edge and Del Rio won both the MITB and Royal Rumble before him, he successfully captured the world title in his Wrestlemania championship match.
* VerbalTic: He ends his sentences with fella, fella.
* VillainTeamUp: In late 2015, he seems to have struck one up with [[Wrestling/WadeBarrett King Barrett]]. It's an odd team up, first off, because the two have been professional rivals dating back to their days wrestling in the UK. In WWE, especially during Sheamus's face run, the two were known to be bitter enemies. Sheamus and Barrett are from Ireland and England respectively - two countries that (stereo)typically don't like each other. On top of that, the timing was odd with Barrett as King of the Ring [[DemotedToExtra (not that WWE's helping anyone to remember that)]] and Sheamus as Money in the Bank holder - both situations where, in theory, each guy should be getting some measure of singles push. Although in retrospect, there seems to have been some logic to this, as soon after winning the championship, Sheamus and Barrett were joined by Wrestling/{{Rusev|AndLana}} and Wrestling/AlbertoDelRio to make a stable, The League of Nations.
* WhatTheHellHero: Has been called out on a couple of occasions for his rather liberal use of the Brogue Kick. First, he kicked Daniel Bryan in the head, while the latter was turning around to get a good-luck kiss from his girlfriend. Yes, Daniel Bryan was a dick, but it was rather unsporting. Then, he does something very similar to a returning Alberto Del Rio the next day. ''Wrestling/JohnLaurinaitis'' of all people calls him out on it. But when Sheamus loses the match because of a bad call by the ref, he proceeds to kick the ref in the face, too. Really?
* WhenSheSmiles:
** As a face, Sheamus does ''a lot of'' smiling. Not SlasherSmile either, honest-to-goodness happy smiling. It makes him look so friendly.
** Also went through this near the end of 2015, after winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship by cashing in on Wrestling/RomanReigns. After months of the fans telling him "You look stupid!", he reveled in being able to throw his status as champion in the face of anyone who didn't like him.
* WriterOnBoard: Although it's never once been brought up in {{Kayfabe}}, he and Triple H share a friendly personal relationship, which some point to as the reason he was pushed so heavily so soon after his arrival.[[note]]Reportedly Wrestling/ChrisJericho was meant to win the 2012 Royal Rumble, but Triple H's influence spurred creative to give Sheamus the victory.[[/note]] Although, at the same time, his face run got him over rather swimmingly with the fans, this friendship was brought back again when he [[{{Kayfabe}} decided]] to cheap-shot [[Wrestling/BryanDanielson Daniel Bryan]] with a [[OneHitKill Brogue Kick]] after Bryan had a moment with his girlfriend in order to [[SquashMatch win the World Heavyweight Championship in 18 seconds]], causing a pro-Bryan and anti-Sheamus shitstorm in Miami and all over the internet. However, research into the matter will reveal that even though Sheamus was booked to win the match anyway, emphasis on later matches (such as [[Wrestling/JohnCena Cena]] vs. [[Wrestling/DwayneJohnson Rock]] and Wrestling/TheUndertaker vs. Triple H) and a last-minute decision to attempt to beat a completely pointless Wrestlemania 'record' few people knew about,[[note]]that being the shortest [=WrestleMania=] match, held by Wrestling/{{Kane}} vs Wrestling/ChavoGuerreroJr at [=WrestleMania=] 24[[/note]] caused the match to be booked in the way it was.
