* ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'':
** Finn, for all his [[{{Keet}} optimism]] and [[{{Determinator}} determination]] is a very sympathetic character. As a baby, he was abandoned and sat in his own ''crap'' for three days until somebody saved him! Not to mention he is apparently the [[LastOfHisKind last known human alive]] (he met Susan Strong), he thought his parents are dead (until he found his father in season 6 and mother in the Islands miniseries), and he's had his [[LoveHurts little heart broken so many times now]] that it's a wonder he hasn't pulled a FaceHeelTurn yet out of sheer angst. Not to mention the huge responsibility he has as the champion of all of Ooo.
** The Ice King definitely is a Woobie (or at least a JerkassWoobie). He's lived for hundreds of years ''alone'', getting excited about any type of company but still being too incompetent to know how to handle social interactions. He's driven to kidnapping by this neglected need for companionship, and no one ever bothers to try and help him. [[spoiler: Simon Petrikov, also known as the Ice King before receiving his title was a completely normal, intelligent, and successful human being, And then upon purchasing an old crown to study, his life is unexpectedly changed forever when he loses control of his actions (driving away his beloved "princess" fiance) and sees illusory visions as a result of wearing what turned out to be an evil, magical crown. Once his transformation is complete and his mind is essentially gone, ''cue the afoementioned centuries of loneliness'', and all the while all that's left of Simon is a vain desire to be with his "princess."]]
** Princess Bubblegum is also a very sympathetic character in her own right. She has the huge responsibility of ruling over the whole Candy Kingdom and making sure her citizens are safe from all the calamities that tend to occur on a frequent basis, which leaves her with no time for a personal life. She also has to stay vigilante in trying not to get kidnapped by the Ice King. She was also [[DemonicPossession possessed]] and nearly killed by The Lich, and exhibits many signs of having post-traumatic stress disorder from this, and behind her peppy smile and scientific curiosity lies a crippling fear of dying and leaving her beloved kingdom and subjects under the awful leadership of Lemongrab. And while her treatment of Lemongrab was morally questionable until "You Made Me" showed she ''does'' regret how her mishandling the situation caused his misery, Lemongrab and his clone are shown to shamelessly [[NeverMyFault blame Princess Bubblegum for every problem]] that they encounter in their lives, and most of the time, she is not even at any fault. This woman lives an exceedingly stressful, and sometimes thankless, life of caring for so many people. Bubblegum has also [[spoiler: been revealed to be [[ReallySevenHundredYearsOld several centuries old]], meaning she's likely outlived many of her old friends. On top of that, Lemongrab, the kinda-sorta son that she tried to fix bridges with, went ''completely'' off the deep end, and if "We Fixed a Truck" and "Apple Wedding" are of any indication, it doesn't seem like people really respect her either.]] This poor girl needs a break.
** Marceline, especially knowing of her [[spoiler: harsh childhood as a survivor of the Great Mushroom War. To wit, her mother died (either from natural causes or during [[WorldWarThree the Mushroom War]]). Her biological father is {{Satan}} (or the [[{{Expy}} closest thing thereto]]) who [[ParentalAbandonment was absent for most of her childhood]] and ate her fries when she was a teenager. And yes, that IS worse than it sounds - said fries were the only food in the area and her father [[CompleteImmortality didn't need them]]. Her [[HappilyAdopted adoptive father]] was a wonderful, caring man who ''[[SanitySlippage lost his mind]]'' and now doesn't even recognize her. Her only known boyfriend was [[DomesticAbuse a bastard]] who sold her TragicKeepsake, and something happened [[HoYay between her and Princess Bubblegum]] that [[LoveHurts ended badly]]. It's not surprising she's [[ChaoticNeutral not exactly "good"]] or [[{{Tsundere}} eager to make friends]] after all that...]]
* Zach and Annie from ''WesternAnimation/AdventuresFromTheBookOfVirtues''. Even if they care about everything, they always get so disappointed upon having issues with other children and their parents, ultimately fail at something they tried to study, and sometimes [[VitriolicBestBuds have arguments with each other]], especially at the beginning of each episode. They learn to get much better in the end.
* You could say Klaus from ''WesternAnimation/AmericanDad'' is a woobie sometimes due to his desperation for attention, especially since he was once a human being before the CIA switched his brain with a goldfish.
** Also, Steve, generally. Although his characterization changes often, most of the time he just wants to please his father through various feats, most of which are ineffective.
** Roger can also be considered to be a JerkassWoobie. First off, he gets sent to Earth as a crash test dummy by his own species who lie to him about his purpose on heading to Earth. He also sometimes gets beaten up by Stan or other people even at times when Roger didn't really deserve it. He can also be fully sympathized after he gets a stress induced heart attack from working too hard in his bar and he's forced to sell it.
** Stan Smith can also be a woobie in his own right. His father unexpectedly left him and his mom when Stan was eight years old and his mom constantly dated other men. His upbringing into the CIA has also placed him in many dangerous situations.
* Rose from ''WesternAnimation/AmericanDragonJakeLong'' is probably the closest thing to a Woobie in the series. She was kidnapped at birth by the Huntsclan because she was born with a birthmark that makes her a born slayer, was told by the Huntsclan that her parents died and that they adopted her, all while being brainwashed into believing that magical creatures are "sick and nasty". [[LoveRedeems Fortunately, Jake enters her life]].
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Arcane}}'':
** Powder in Act 1 is TheBabyOfTheBunch who adores her older sister Vi and desperately wants to be useful to her and their adoptive brothers. [[spoiler:At the end of episode one, she's accidentally botched a heist by blowing up Jayce's apartment and lost them their prized loot. This causes the other kids to see her as more of an annoying nuisance who 'jinxes' all their plans. Come episode two, she's grappling with insecurities of being inadequate and useless. And then in episode three, in her desperation to help Vi and friends and despair at being left behind before the rescue mission, she winds up causing ''massive'' collateral damage through a hex crystal-imbued CymbalBangingMonkey toy, leading to the deaths of everyone in the gang except Vi. Which then prompts Vi, in a [[MomentOfWeakness grief-enduced fit of rage]], to [[KickTheDog punch Powder in the face and call her a jinx.]]]]
** Viktor, while brilliant enough to become Heimerdinger's assistant at Piltover's Academy in spite of his Zaunite background, [[DelicateAndSickly suffers from a chronic illness that is getting worse over time]], which he is desperate to cure. His illness is the result of growing up in a heavily polluted area in Zaun, requiring him to walk with a cane since he was a young child, and his poor health made him unable to play or make friends with other children. When he invents the Hextech Core his mentor, Heimerdinger, demands he destroy it despite the core potentially being the only way Viktor can extend his own life. When he travels back to the Undercity to get help from his former mentor, his best friend Jayce scolds him for meeting up with someone from the undercity, claiming they are all potentially dangerous which greatly hurts Viktor's feelings as he was from the undercity. [[spoiler:While Viktor is temporarily able to improve his health using a mix of shimmer and the Hexcore, he accidentally kills Sky and is wracked with guilt. He almost commits suicide before being stopped by Jayce, and he still decides that the Hexcore needs to be destroyed despite knowing full well that doing so would kill him]]. Poor guy can't catch a break.
** Huck, the wimpy patron at Vandar's Bar that was screwed out of his money, and needed Vander to stick up for him. [[spoiler:Taken even further in the sixth episode where it's revealed that he ended up being a Shimmer addict, taking the drug because he no longer wanted to feel afraid. He lives in the slums of the slums, covered in [[BodyHorror large fleshy bumps]] and twitching uncontrollably, unable to let Vi see what he's become. He sells out Vi and Caitlyn's location to Silco for Shimmer, but it was a case of lapsing into weakness and cravings, and he is very visibly ashamed of his weakness.]]
* Woodhouse on ''WesternAnimation/{{Archer}}''. Despite saving Archer within hours of his birth, raising him for 5 years by himself and caring for him ever since then, Malory and Archer treat the old man like garbage every chance they get. Archer even discourages his guests from treating Woodhouse with kindness, lest he come to expect it.
* ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'':
** Aang, the current [[MessianicArchetype Avatar]] was told he was the Avatar four years early because a war was coming, was ignored by almost everyone he knew afterwards save for his teacher and pet, ran away when he found out he was going to be sent away from said teacher, and was frozen for a hundred years. After he gets out, he finds out that '''''his entire culture and people''''' have been destroyed 100 years ago, and that of everyone he has ever known and loved, the only ones remaining are a childhood friend over 100 by this point, and aforementioned pet.
** [[AntiVillain Zuko]], Aang's enemy for much of the show, was consistently denied approval by his father, had his mother leave him at a young age, which she did because [[spoiler:she had just killed his grandfather to save his life]], and at the age of thirteen, was exiled and ''burned by his father'' for protesting against a plan that would use an huge number of troops for a WeHaveReserves tactic that would likely get them all killed, and sent on a SnipeHunt to regain his honor.
* Poor little Shifty Dingo from ''WesternAnimation/BlinkyBill''. One of the sweetest, clumsiest, most timid residents of Greenpatch and he always gets treated badly just cause he's a dingo. He is constantly bullied by Marcia and shunned by many adults and really really REALLY needs a big hug to make him feel all better. And then of course, you have Nutsy who lost her mother.
* ''WesternAnimation/BobsBurgers'':
** Bob, being the OnlySaneMan in a world of crazy people. Growing up with an overly controlling father, he just wants his restaurant to succeed and just live a normal life. His business and simple way of living is constantly mocked or endangered because of his otherwise uninterested and unsympathetic family. His wife is a ditzy woman who enjoys drinking and bizarre interests while encouraging their kids in talents that interfere with his business. His oldest daughter is the most loyal, but her obsessions with horses, boys and butts constantly get on his nerves and her puberty and personality often causes problems. His son is an obnoxious and loud AttentionWhore constantly doing gross things. His youngest daughter is a schemer who always shows no respect for his restaurant and constantly lands him in trouble. Even moreso outside his family, there's his AffablyEvil landlord, said landlord's unstable younger brother, his obnoxious rival who runs a more successful restaurant, a health inspector who has it on for him for "stealing his woman", a borderline insane sister-in-law and plenty of one-shot characters who seem set on making his life a living hell.
** Like him or hate him, there's no denying that Teddy has had a rough go of life. His ex-wife emotionally abused him and regularly cheated on him, leaving him with so much trauma that merely seeing something tangentially related to the latter causes a full-blown flashback. He has next-to-no friends, with only the Belchers and Mort willing to show him any respect or care. He constantly tries to help, only to make things ten times worse, leaving even his closest friend sick of him on more than one occasion. While he can be a bit too attached to the Belchers, it's because they're the closest thing to a functional family he's got and he doesn't want to lose them from his life.
** Regular-Sized Rudy, the asthma-ridden kid who's frequently caught up between all the Belcher kids' craziness [[note]]though he does highly enjoy getting caught up in the Belcher kids' craziness, due to his adrenaline junkie tendencies and desire to be like other kids in spite of his health problems[[/note]]. Especially in "Carpe Museum" where he has an asthma attack while stuck in a treehouse.
** Tina. Most of the episodes focusing on her have her as a ButtMonkey, and she's ''very'' socially awkward.
* The title character of ''WesternAnimation/{{Bonkers}}'' tries so hard to be a good cop yet is often underestimated due to his eccentric behavior and being a toon. He's very sensitive and cries easily. In the pilot episode, he was pretty much kicked out on the street. His HeroicBsod in New Partners On The Block when he thinks Lucky is dead and bawls his heart out several times is enough to earn him sympathy from the audience. Despite his cheerful personality, he's one bobcat in need of a warm hug and some cuddles.
* Jazmine in ''WesternAnimation/TheBoondocks'' TV series - a WideEyedIdealist embodiment of ChildrenAreInnocent surrounded by BlackAndGrayMorality characters who are all full-time cynics prone to {{Cluster F Bomb}}s. The time she set up a lemonade stand during a heatwave only to be incorporated and then screwed over by CorruptCorporateExecutive Ed Wuncler is the foremost example though.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Bubsy}}'': Arnold the Armadillo. He's supposed to be a ButtMonkey, but comes across as sympathetic because he does nothing to deserve the abuse he goes through, which includes being thrown around against his will, crashing through a roof, getting beaten over the head and getting electrocuted. His only "crime" is not liking Bubsy and his cousins, which seems perfectly justified because they're jerks and responsible for much of the aforementioned abuse. He's also extremely afraid of trucks to the point where it looks like the show wants you to laugh of a mental disorder.
* Max from ''WesternAnimation/CapitolCritters'' is a sweet, adorable little mouse with PuppyDogEyes. In the first episode, he watches his family die from exterminators and he goes to live with his cousin in the white house. Exterminators arrive again and he has a PTSD flashback. In another episode, he falls in love with a girl mouse and saves her from a cat but feels awful and breaks down in tears when he thinks he killed the cat and in another episode, he is nearly murdered by a gang member who forces caffine pills down his throat causing him to become unconcious. And despite all these horrible things happening to him, he's easily the nicest character on the show. Poor little guy needs a big hug.
* ''WesternAnimation/Castlevania2017'': Lisa Tepes, a woman that just wanted to help people with science. The Church manages to catch her while she's alone at home, destroy her equipment, and burn her at the stake without even a trial. She can only scream in her last moments to beg Dracula to not avenge her death, because her executioners are ignorant. Dracula doesn't hear her, due to being away from home, and he avenges her a hundred times over.
* Dog from ''WesternAnimation/CatDog''. While most of the time, he's a cheerful and happy go lucky sort of guy, whenever he gets hit with BreakTheCutie, he gets hit. Hard. He's been laughed at by the entire town of Nearberg for being a failure hero (Dog The Mighty), worked to the point of hypothermia in a sled dog race (Mush Dog Mush), almost sold off as a freak show attraction by his own brother after contacting a disease (Dog's Strange Condition), bullied by mailmen while in a depressed state (Fistful Of Mail), driven to the brink of paranoia (Safety Dog), spent an entire episode thinking he was allergic to his own brother (Sneezy Dog) and has been cheated and lied to several times by his own brother. He also came dangerously close to crossing the DespairEventHorizon in the Great Parents Mystery special. Basically, any time Dog looks emotionally hurt or starts shedding tears, it's enough to just want to reach into your screen and cuddle the poor pooch to make him his happy self again. Someone, please give poor Dog a hug.
* Flash The Wonder Dog from ''WesternAnimation/ChipNDaleRescueRangers''. He may be a oneshot character but he most definitely deserves a big hug. Basically, Flash is a LovableCoward and NervousWreck of an actor who is framed of several crimes by Fat Cat all because he's a dog. Worse yet, there is a scene where people try to chase him off because they think he's the one who committed a wave of crimes. On top of all this, he feels very guilty over breaking Dale's heart with the fact that he's just an actor and not actually a hero.
* Eugene, a one shot skunk character from the ''WesternAnimation/ChucklewoodCritters'' episode "Scenter Of Attention" IS this trope. First a wildfire forces him to evacuate his home then he starts crying cause he misses his parents then he stinks up everyone's homes by accident and feels terrible about it. On top of that, he's a ShrinkingViolet who speaks in a really soft-spoken southern accent. That episode is just pure TearJerker.
* Kam and Philly Phil from ''WesternAnimation/ClassOf3000'' have their moments. Kam, the lighter example by virtue of being the resident ButtMonkey and his [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold more abrasive personality]], is often ignored, even as the voice of reason. His sympathetic side is in full force in [[DayInTheLimelight Kam Inc.]], where, after falling in love with a girl, starts his own company to impress her as a self-made man, nearly costs him his friendship with Eddie. Philly Phil, meanwhile, despite his overall happy personality, [[StepfordSmiler hides a number of insecurities]] in regards to his social status.
* Cleveland Jr. from ''WesternAnimation/TheClevelandShow'' and ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy''. Once a fast, hyper kid, he is now slow, fat, and speaks in a calm sounding voice. He is totally broken up by his parents' divorce and became obsessive compulsive as a result (that was later fixed) and his belief that God would never forgive his mom for cheating on his dad turned him into a non-theist.
* ''WesternAnimation/CourageTheCowardlyDog'':
** Courage. His parents got blasted to the moon by a cruel veterinarian, he takes a lot of crap from the other villains, and on top of all that, he is undeservedly abused by a cruel, {{Jerkass}} farmer who [[UngratefulBastard doesn't respect him the slightest bit despite the fact that the dog goes through all the trouble to save the old man's life]], along with his more kindhearted wife who actually adores Courage. If that isn't enough, the cruel farmer even went so far to hire Courage's old villains to ''kill'' him and enjoyed seeing the dog suffer sadistic pain. You just can't help but feel sorry for the poor dog for all he's been through.
** The female [[GiantSquid Starmaker]] of the eponymous episode loses her mate when he sacrifices himself to protect her and their unborn offspring. Upon crash landing in Nowhere, Kansas, the Starmaker is experimented on by the military, its body slowly withering as its bodily fluids are drained. After its offspring hatch, she crawls out of the lab and becomes a garden upon her death.
** Bunny is the best friend and plausible lover of Kitty trapped in an abusive relationship to [[DomesticAbuse Mad Dog]]. Mad Dog threatens her and Kitty if she dared to come within arms' length of her as a means of keeping her under his paw. He even goes as far as to bury Bunny up to her neck in dirt. When Courage arrives to rescue her, she is nearly mowed down by her vengeful boyfriend's car before being reunited with Kitty.
* ''WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom'':
** [[OppositeSexClone Danielle]] has lived in a world where she thought Vlad adored her like a daughter only to find out she was nothing but an inferior tool for his ''true'' goals (creating a perfect clone of Danny). Then she's on the run for the better part of a season, knowing she could melt into ectoplasm at any time. Valerie then proceeds to trick her, and despite being cured, and returning to help Danny, she's still left on the run. How could you ''not'' just want to hug her?
** Being half ghost, Danny is stuck at a cross point where both humans and ghosts would shun him for his freakish state. Not to mention for a season and a half, Danny is either ignored or insulted by nearly everyone outside of his closest companions and settled with the responsibility to save his hometown on a constant basis despite the [[HeroWithBadPublicity community viewing him as nothing but their most hated enemy]]. This is truly one of those EarnYourHappyEnding thing that Danny went to get where he is now.
** Vlad in AlasPoorVillain fashion. By the end, Vlad realizes all the evil he's done, but it's too late for him to repent. [[spoiler: After years of fearing loneliness, he has the cold, dark depths of space staring back at him]]. Cue upside down smile. Not only that, but the last few minutes of the episode consist of [[spoiler: his getting smashed into by a giant meteor.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/DragonTales'':
** Zak, who must constantly endure his sister Wheezie's wild behavior- because they're a two-headed dragon. He also seems to be the show's target for comic abuse from any of a number of avenues.
** Also Cassie, due to her shyness and inability to easily speak up. Plus, even on the very rare occasions where she gets jealous, it's hard to lose sympathy for her.
* Frizz and Nug of ''WesternAnimation/TheDreamstone''. Compared to [[BigBad Zordrak]] or peers such as [[MadScientist Urpgor]] and [[DrillSergeantNasty Sgt Blob]] (who themselves are pretty valid {{Jerkass Woobie}}s), these two Urpneys are [[MinionWithAnFInEvil cowardly idiots who have little interest in giving the Sleeping World nightmares]] and are often sent kicking and screaming into an upteenth dangerous mission to steal the Dreamstone, with threat of death otherwise. This is often treated with complete apathy from the heroes (par [[CheerfulChild Spildit]] on occasion), [[GuiltByAssociationGag who treat them as any villain]] and punish them mercilessly, with another CoolAndUnusualPunishment from Zordrak often awaiting them at home. It's not hard to end up actually [[RootingForTheEmpire rooting for them]] to win after only a few episodes.
* Peter Puppy from the ''WesternAnimation/EarthwormJim'' cartoon. He was picked on by all the neighborhood dogs for being a coward and then he finally faced his fear of the vacuum and got cursed with the ability to transform into a monster when upset. In the pilot episode, he was shown bawling his eyes out, begging for Jim not to leave him. Watch "The Origin Of Peter Puppy", then watch "Sidekicked". Not havng the urge to just give the poor puppy a hug after that is pretty much impossible.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:F-L]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddparents''.
** Tootie has the world's most sadistic babysitter as a big sister and fails to win the boy she loves, plus is bottom of the barrel on the social ladder and, unlike Timmy, seems to have no friends outside the Cream Puffs, who seem unwilling to even attend her birthday party.
** Timmy. ParentalNeglect, sadistic babysitter, villainous teacher (who despite his ineptitude would be a more nurturing parent than Timmy's own), constantly belittled for his appearance, and let's not forget the small fact that he was shown with explicit detail how pretty much the entire world would be far better off without him, which was reality essentially giving him a ReasonYouSuckSpeech.
* ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'':
** Some people feel sorry for Meg because of her extreme ButtMonkey status.
** There's also Death, is this and a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds. The poor guy is [[EverybodyHatesHades despised and treated like shit by everyone for doing his job]] and can't form a good human relationship. Even [[{{Jerkass}} Peter]] takes pity on him.
** Stewie Griffin definitely entered Woobie territory in the episode "Life of Brian". He witnessed the death of his only best friend (Brian) and seems unable to overcome it. He can also dwell in this territory in episodes such as "Killer Queen" (where he's traumatized by the album cover for Music/{{Queen|Band}}'s ''Music/{{News of the World|Queen}}'' to the point of being DrivenToSuicide) and "Be Careful What You Fish For" (where Brian ignores his abusive daycare teacher's gross negligence because she's attractive).
** Santa Claus, as shown in "Road to the North Pole". Every Christmas is harder and harder on him because he can't keep up with both the exponentially rising population and the increasing complexity of the toys his elves have to make. By the present day, he's in horrible shape, is constantly hacking up a lung, and literally ''begs'' Stewie (who went to the North Pole to kill him) to just [[MercyKill put him out of his misery]]. Had Stewie and Brian not filled in for him, the stress would have ''killed'' him (and the two realize quickly that Santa's job is indeed highly painstaking).
** Santa's elves also qualify. They are inbred, know nothing other than work, and most of them are blind, deaf, or both. Even worse is that Santa's reindeer have AscendedToCarnivorism and savagely tear the elves to pieces and eat them if they go outside.
* ''WesternAnimation/FollowTheSun'': If any one treat had it worse than everyone else, it's unquestionably the sideshow hot dog. After the bun decides, ''by herself''[[note]]Genders are not specified in the short proper, but anybody who's seen [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFfRrY68SLY the source material]] knows that the hot dog bun is very obviously a woman.[[/note]], that said wiener is somehow responsible for the extreme heatwave, she summons a hamburger cop on stage to enforce his sentence which includes 1). Forcibly drowning him in various condiments 2). Tossing him into a open fire and finally 3). Being made to stick himself '''inside the bun''' who proceeds to '''rape him!'''. All this while the ice-cream sandwich dance troupe continues their routine in the background, none of whom make any attempt to defend his innocence. (In their defense, the ice-cream dancers are '''actively melting''' and one has already '''hanged herself!''': No way in hell would they even think of worsening their own predicament by speaking out against the master bun.)
* ''WesternAnimation/ForestFriends'': Leon the hungry wolf, a one shot character from his self-titled episode. He was separated from his parents and is cold, lost, scared, alone and hungry. When he arrives in the village, most of the adults shun him just because he is a wolf. He even overhears the adults spreading rumors about how he ate the rabbit twins so he storms off in tears and becomes stranded on an island on a frozen river until he finally gets rescued.His shyness, soft-spoken voice and street urchin look just add to his woobiness.
* ''WesternAnimation/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends'':
** That sentient slice of pizza Terrence created in "[[Recap/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriendsS1E8SeeingRedPhoneHome Seeing Red]]". Within seconds of being created and saying "Howdy-doo! I love you!", Terrence immediately eats it while the poor thing screams in terror. Worse, his death is the only one in the entire series and is played entirely for laughs. Basically, in his short life, it just wanted nothing more to love and be loved and all he knew was pain. If any character really qualifies as a Woobie on this show, it is without a doubt this character.
** Frankie. That poor girl puts up with loads of crap that would drive a lesser person to complete insanity. Her "Woobie" status rises to an extreme in the episode, "Imposter's Home for Um...Make 'Em Up Pals", where an "imaginary friend" comes in and looks like he's obviously a human with a rubber nose. She has to do everything for him. What makes it worse [[spoiler:is that at the end, the imaginary friend turns out to be real.]]
** Mac is occasionally on the receiving end of some pretty major torment. His mom is hardly around, his [[BigBrotherBully older brother constantly beats him up]], his dad never makes an appearence (WordOfGod says he's dead), his imaginary friend is a [[{{Jerkass}} Jerk Wad]], and he doesn't have any real friends (besides Frankie and Goo). If he was an imaginary friend and was up for adoption, he needs to be adopted quickly.
** World, the toy box friend from ''WesternAnimation/DestinationImagination''. Having been separated from his creator by the kid's parents, all his time spent alone has driven him nearly insane. When the other characters try to take Frankie from his imaginary world, he has an emotional breakdown that literally breaks his entire world apart. "She has to stay! Without her my world is empty, and I'm nothing!"
** Bloo himself can be a JerkassWoobie at times. One big example is "[[Recap/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriendsS2E10TheSweetStenchOfSuccess The Sweet Stench of Success]]", where he gets an advertising deal and is enslaved by the Hollywood agent Kip Snip, not allowed any breaks, forced to sleep in a kennel every night, and is ostracized from his friends, leading Mac to believe that he deserted him to become famous and reject him.
* Todd the fox from ''WesternAnimation/TheFoxbusters''. Just watch the episode "Winging It" and you instantly want to hug him. "I guess I screwed up again. Oh well, least I'm consistent. I always do the wrong thing, heh. If I was in a prop cartoon, I bet I'd find myself on a clifftop right about now singin a sad song about how I don't fit in...."
* Fraidy Cat from the 1975 cartoon called, well, ''WesternAnimation/FraidyCat'' is a much more unique woobie; he lost his [[CatsHaveNineLives previous 8 lives]] from different timelines and is trying to make his last one last. The problem is that every time he mentions the numbers 1 to 8, ''even words that sound like those numbers'', a specter of his previous incarnations tries to make his life miserable, even though he is constantly trying to avoid conflict. Mentioning 9 makes a cloud of thunder attack him. Coupled by the fact that [[KafkaComedy every episode subjects him to this horrible fate]] makes him even more pitiful. Seriously, can someone [[PetTheDog give this poor guy a hug]]? [[FridgeHorror Even more horrifying]] if his entire existence is based around religious reincarnation, where he reincarnates 8 times before his soul is completely destroyed.
* ''Literature/{{Franklin}}'':
** Snail is a snail and therefore can’t travel to places quickly which is why he leaves ''days'' early just so that he can get to school or somewhere on time. In "Hurry Up, Franklin!", because the other animals were much quicker than him, none of them noticed Snail slithering on the road until Franklin, a turtle, noticed Snail crying because no one else noticed him and he won’t be able to make it to Bear’s birthday party on time.
** Badger. An adorable and shy girl who suffers from cerebral palsy and therefore needs crutches to help her walk around. Thankfully, everyone gets along with her and they enjoy being with her, but still, a disabled child in a SugarBowl show like this can be jarring and quite depressing.
** Bear. He is just way too sweet on Franklin, even when he doesn’t deserve it, so when Franklin gets angry at him, he defends Franklin and is unreasonably nice to him. Also, he holds honesty and trustworthiness so dear to him that he gets angry at Franklin when he lies or can’t keep a secret. Considering that most of his friends (Franklin, Beaver, and Fox) aren’t always honest or noble, it must be hard for Bear to find someone like him or even someone to trust.
** Franklin himself. Episodes like "Franklin Has A Bad Day" is just cruel and makes him a ButtMonkey when he is already in a bad mood because he dearly misses his friend Otter. "Franklin Goes to Day Camp" where he and Bear meet Possum but ends up being ignored and then punished by the coach many times for minor offenses. His day was ruined and he was practically cheated on. "Franklin's Valentines" has Franklin losing his valentine cards on the way to school and breaks down when he can't find them. "Franklin's New Hat" has him wearing a gaudy hat his sister Harriet made just to keep her happy. Unfortunately it turns out to be a burden to him until he tells his sister that it has many other uses. ([[RunningGag This show kind of likes]] to make Franklin a ButtMonkey for the sake of a plot...)
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'':
** Tinny Tim, the ridiculously over the top and adorable parody of Tiny Tim from ''Literature/AChristmasCarol''. Nearly every scene featuring him has him suffering some kind of misfortune despite basically being a crutch armed, kind-hearted orphan ([[FridgeLogic I know]]) robot.
** Kif, could an alien possibly scream Woobie more than this guy? Not only does he receive grief in nearly every episode he appears in, he also has to go through an unplanned male pregnancy when Amy freaks out and runs out on him in "Kif Gets Knocked Up A Notch".
** Fry living under Leela's shadow makes him qualify for this, ''and then some''. Trying to keep up with the futuristic times, not being as smart or mentally stable as his fellow employees (save for Zoidberg), and suffering the consequences despite noble intentions and a heart of gold. It's enough to get you upset at anyone who berates him for his antics and shortcomings not matter how accurate or deserved.
** Flexo gets hit by a car, risks his life to protect the atom, then gets arrested instead of Bender who actually stole it. And in his second appearence, he mentions how horrible his prison life was, then just laughs it off and forgives Bender immediately. Then when Bender starts dating his ex-wife who he wishes to remains friends with, Bender trys to kill him out of jealousy and almost gets him killed by the Robot Mafia. And the last time we see Flexo, he's in a dumpster heading towards a garbage dump planet. And he was a pretty nice guy who had the misfortune to meet Bender.
** Seymour, Fry’s dog from the 20th century, manages to top them all. He starts out as a starving stray dog that meets Fry after a prank pizza delivery. He only knew Fry for two years before the latter was frozen; after that, he desperately searches Old New York trying to look for him, and is eventually dragged away by Fry’s parents (who didn't notice his body in the cryogenic freezer) once he ''does'' find him. [[TearJerker Seymour spent the remaining twelve years of his life in front of Panucci’s Pizza (even after it closes for good)]], [[UndyingLoyalty waiting for Fry to get back]].
* ''WesternAnimation/HeyArnold'':
** While she's not much better than her husband, it's hard not to feel at least a little bit sorry for Miriam when you find out about her past. She's implied to have been The Ace when she was younger, a world-class swimmer, a mechanical bull-riding champion and knows enough about business that she can run the Beeper Emporium much better than Big Bob. However, somewhere along the line she flushed all her hopes and dreams down the crapper and married Bob for whatever reason. Everyone treats her like dirt and not even her own daughter has any respect for her, so she becomes an alcoholic just to cope. She even tells Olga during her engagement episode not to make the same mistakes she did.
** Chocolate Boy in his self-titled episode. The reason why he became addicted to chocolate was because it was his favorite treat given to him by his nanny. After she moved away, he ate more chocolate to cope with losing her. He clearly loved her a lot and breaks down crying about how much he misses her.
** Lila in her debut episode. She's the new student, having just moved to town from the country. Despite being very polite and sweet, she unintentionally ends up pissing off the other girls because she is getting a lot of attention from the other students and teachers. So they bully her to the point that she runs home in tears. After agreeing to bring over her homework, they see that Lila is not as perfect as they thought. She lives in a run-down apartment with her single, unemployed father who is completely broke and cries about how she just wanted to have friends. The girls all realize the error of their ways and try to fix everything. Lila was completely huggable in that episode.
** Arnie. Everyone (other than Lila) hates him and openly mocks and ridicules him, even genuinely nice kids like Phoebe, to his face just because he happens to be a little peculiar. Perhaps Lila liking him isn't such a bad thing after all, since she's about the only one who shows him any affection.
* IM Weasel from ''WesternAnimation/IAmWeasel''. In one episode (Ping Pong At Sea) he knew that his parents sucked eggs and in another (the Christmas special) he claimed to be an orphan so that must mean his parents died when he was young and he went to live at an orphanage. The caretaker forced him to go to regular school despite his gifts and he was constantly bullied and picked on for being smarter than the other kids (this is validified through a comment he makes in the Back To School episode).]] He probably had a very sad life in his early years and many nights, [[TearJerker he probably cried himself to sleep because he missed his parents so much]]. But then one day [[IronWoobie he decided to put it all behind him and transformed his feelings of greif into helping others.]] However, he still has very woobie-ish moments like in I Am Legend, where he sits on a bench and [[ManlyTears cries his heart out]] because he thinks he's the only one alive on Earth and the very end when [[AwfulTruth he finds out the only reason everyone is watching their show is because of IR Baboon and not him]] so he looked absolutely heartbroken. Who wouldn't want to give him a hug after all that?
* ''WesternAnimation/Invincible2021'': Debbie Grayson. Her husband growing increasingly cold and harsh after their son's powers surface is just the tip of the iceberg for her. During the series, she has to deal with first her husband and then their own young son (despite their superhuman durability) being hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Almost all the Guardians of the Globe, people she was fiends with, get massacred except for her husband, and [[spoiler:she later finds conclusive proof to her horror that her husband was the perpetrator of the entire massacre. When Nolan's true purpose on Earth is revealed, the man she loved for two decades and had her son with denounces her as simply a pet to him, while she hears everything via a live video feed, and when the dust settles, Nolan has left Earth after viciously fighting their son to the point that Mark is left with hospitalizing injuries]]. Is it any wonder she's sobbing in private at the series' end?
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Kaeloo}}'':
** Stumpy is an ugly idiot who sucks at almost everything and is constantly ridiculed by [[WithFriendsLikeThese his own best friends]]. [[spoiler:In Episode 105, he finally calls them out on it, and performs an IWantSong detailing how all he wants is for people to accept him for who he is.]]
** Quack Quack is tortured on an everyday basis by his "[[WithFriendsLikeThese friend]]" [[{{Jerkass}} Mr. Cat]], yet he forgives him each time. Throughout the show, he is put through constant pain and abuse by Mr. Cat, such as being blown up, being tricked into breaking up with his girlfriend, [[ShamefulStrip being forced to strip in public]] and even being DraggedOffToHell.
** Eugly the rabbit is one of the nicest characters on the show, yet she is constantly ridiculed and made fun of by ''everyone'' except [[NiceGuy Quack Quack]], which even Kaeloo joins in. It doesn't help that she's also very emotional and [[ProneToTears bursts into tears for the smallest things]].
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'', there is a lot of people who fit this:
** The two prime woobies are Bolin and Asami, who both distinguish themselves by being jilted love interests. Bolin is, of course, [[{{Adorkable}} adorably childlike]] and spends a while trying to get Korra to like him, only to [[spoiler: walk into a kiss between her and his brother.]] It's hard not to feel sympathy for him as he bursts into tears and runs off. Asami, meanwhile, after losing her mother as a child and in between [[spoiler:having her father turn evil and subsquently try to kill her]], gets neglected by Mako in favor of Korra. Mako's mild JerkAss behavior towards her, and her reserved sadness about it, turned Asami into a fandom darling.
** Korra, from the end of Season 3 to about mid-season 4, in which about three years had passed. She ends up getting kidnapped by [[spoiler: Zaheer]] after witnessing her father's [[spoiler: apparent death]], is chained up by unbendable platinum and [[spoiler: poisoned by the Red Lotus]] causing her immense pain, sees visions of her past enemies telling her she's useless to the world (she feels that serving the world as the Avatar is her life's sole purpose), is viciously beaten by [[spoiler: Zaheer]] when she breaks the chains and fights him, takes multiple falls that would kill the average person, and is suffocated by [[spoiler: Zaheer]]'s airbending. All of this not only [[spoiler: nearly kills her]], it leaves her with physical injuries so bad that she was wheelchair-bound for years, and was left with major depression and PTSD which she had to go through hell to overcome. She'd spent years separated from her loved ones to recover from her trauma, and is haunted by visions of [[spoiler: Zaheer]] and a dark version of herself, which lasts even after she felt well enough to return to Republic City.
* Sunil Nevla from ''WesternAnimation/LittlestPetShop2012''. He's pretty much a timid NervousWreck with poor self-esteem. The other pets sometimes ridicule his magic tricks as well. His woobiness reaches it's peak during the Stay Here Forever song where he bursts into tears over Blythe leaving to fashion camp.
* ''WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes'':
** WesternAnimation/PorkyPig in ''WesternAnimation/TheLooneyTunesShow''. Doomed to the status of a ButtMonkey (mostly at the hands of WesternAnimation/DaffyDuck), despite the fact that he is the nicest character in the show. While original ''WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes'' shorts and media play his abuse more for laughs, there are some occasions what he goes through is outright heartbreaking (watch "Porky's Romance" or "Bah Humduck, A Looney Tunes Christmas" for key examples).
** Wile E. Coyote. Continuously failing in his one goal in life: catching that friggin' Road Runner. Many people have felt sorry for him and wished he caught that bird just once.
** Sylvester. While he does misbehave, he is one of the more sympathetic {{Designated Villain}}s along with Wile E., mainly because his punishments tend to be disproportionate and inconsistent.
** Elmer Fudd is constantly abused by everyone around him. There's even a short dedicated to his torture that was released after Bugs' first official appearance, Good Night Elmer.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:M-Z]]
* Arnold from ''WesternAnimation/TheMagicSchoolBus''. It helped that he was in some cases [[TheWatson the voice of the audience]], who would quite rightly be terrified of rafting on a magma floe [[ConvectionShmonvection regardless of how "safe" it was]].
* Flapjack, the eponymous character from ''WesternAnimation/TheMarvelousMisadventuresOfFlapjack''. He lives in perhaps one of the creepiest fictional towns ever, is always selfishly manipulated by Cap'n K'nuckles, and is constantly subjected to terror, yet he's perhaps the most optimistic and friendly character on the show. In the episode "Jar She Blows," Cap'n K'nuckles tricks Flapjack into squeezing himself into a bottle and sent out adrift where he is lost for days at sea.
* ''WesternAnimation/TheMask'':
** Stanley Ipkiss unlike in the movie where he got lucky as he ends up with the woman he's in love with doesn't have any luck with any woman at all mostly thanks to his alter ego The Mask or partly that he can't make things work with them but thankfully he's got friends who care about him and The Mask cares and loves him very much like a little brother so he's got some luck on his side.
** The Mask though he is well liked and loved by his friends, the mayor and the public does not have any luck with women due to him being too strong or because of his enemies who have interfered with his attempts and the fact is that he knows that he can be around forever by leaving his face on so he can still be alive but he cares about and loves Stanley very much since he knows he's got a life of his own so like Stanley he does have a case of bad luck as well along with him making a sad face as he saw he messed things up can make you feel sorry for him though thanks to his charisma personality, his sweet nature and him being a fun loving {{Nice Guy}} despite his quirks he does get girls who were put off by him at first to be attracted to him due to those things, but he does know it will not last forever because he won't always be around unlike Stanley but he makes the most of it so like Stanley he does get lucky.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Metalocalypse}}'':
** [[HypercompetentSidekick Charles Foster Ofdenson]] has to put up with Dethklok on a constant basis, a task which would have driven a lesser man to insanity or suicide. What's worse is that their reasons for abusing him are completely invalid; they view him as being the opposite of all that they stand for, but in reality, his mercilessness and brutal competence make him one of the most metal characters on the show. The band eventually grow to care for Charles more openly from Season 2 onward, even being seen interacting with him in a casual and friendly way. Too bad he gets [[spoiler: beaten up by a thug and mind-poisoned to death by an Eldritch horror.]] He got better, but still. Poor dude.
** At first glance, Toki Wartooth seems to be one of these - sure, he's in the most brutal death metal band ever and is a sociopath like the rest of the members, but he has a naive, childlike nature, and seems to be one of the only genuinely likable people on the show. Not to mention, he's [[FunnyForeigner adorably foreign]]. Of course, this makes him the band's resident ButtMonkey. You start to feel bad for him... [[BreakTheCutie Then]] he finally [[BewareTheNiceOnes snaps]]. Most people lose their desire to hug him when he dresses in an outfit ''covered in spikes.'' Then there was that stuff with his ''dad'': a life time of abuse and the moment he finally forgives him, WHAM! [[spoiler: Dead under the ice.]] Oh and there's the fact that ''everyone he loves dies.''
** Dr. Rockzo gets treated sympathetically in some episodes, particularly in "Cleanzo," where his drug problems are extremely evident, and the band helps him to get clean out of sympathy for him. Of course, due to the popularity of the character, his clean streak couldn't last long, ending in the next episode he appears in.
** Many characters fulfill the qualifications for Woobieness in ''Metalocalypse''. Murderface's many emotional issues, Skwisgaar's neglectful childhood, Pickles' parents favoring his conman leech of a brother over him... Need I go on?
* ''WesternAnimation/MiraculousLadybug'': Nooroo, the kwami of the Butterfly Miraculous, is enslaved by Hawk Moth and forced to aid him in a terrorist campaign against Paris against his will. His relationship with Hawk Moth is routinely shown to be emotionally and occasionally physically abusive; he is forbidden contact with the outside world, not allowed to be more than a few feet away from Hawk Moth, and yelled at whenever he questions Hawk Moth's decisions, and he has had his mouth magically shut on two separate occasions when he has truly angered Hawk Moth. Finally, he is completely powerless to save himself and can only wait for Ladybug and Cat Noir to bring him salvation.
* ''WesternAnimation/MollyOfDenali'':
** Grandpa Nat. [[spoiler: When he was a kid, he was forced into a boarding school, where he was openly shamed due to him being Indigenous. He was even banned from singing native songs at school. He gave his drum away to Shyahtsoo, and forgot his songs over time]].
** Trini. [[spoiler:Her mom Joy serves in the military, so she doesn't have time to visit her and Daniel. Joy stays in Qyah for a little while during "Molly and the Great One", but soon she has to leave again. This ''breaks'' Trini]].
* Rufus Hyena from the ''WesternAnimation/MyGymPartnersAMonkey'' episode "The Mighty" is easily the biggest woobie on the show. The only episode he was ever in, he suffered from severe BreakTheCutie. Once Adam insulted him and his laughter, he stormed out of the bathroom in tears and actually went into a TroubledFetalPosition at one point. He was in a constant state of OcularGushers and Adam barely felt any remorse for having hurt his feelings. Not once did Adam feel the need to apologize to Rufus, even THREATENING him to stop crying at one point. Also, [[MoralEventHorizon Nurse Gazelle terrorizes him for no reason by trying to shave off his fur while he's in his tearful state.]] The only amount of sympathy Rufus even got was Windsor cuddling him and Jake feeling concerned about him. Adam, Principal Pixiefrog and Nurse Gazelle treated him like garbage, not giving a damn about his hurt feelings.
* ''WesternAnimation/MyLifeAsATeenageRobot'':
** Sheldon Lee. He has an [[AllLoveIsUnrequited unrequited crush]] on Jenny, and despite the fact that he would at least understand her far more than most of the people around her do he is discarded most of the time by the fact that he's - *gasp* - [[JustForFun/OneOfUs a geek]]! (OK, so [[StalkerWithACrush he has a couple of those stalker tendencies]], but what lovable fictional nerd doesn't?)
** Jenny is [[AllOfTheOtherReindeer viewed as an outcast]], her mother hid her away from the world for most of her life and treats her more like machine than a person, the military is constantly waiting for her to step out of line, and she is constantly being attacked by the Cluster, who have made many attempts to capture her, destroy her, or [[WeCanRuleTogether make her join them and enslave humanity]]. Just try to watch the ChristmasEpisode where Jenny is [[spoiler:[[BrainwashedAndCrazy mind controlled]] to destroy holidays for ''a year'' to point where even her best friend and ''her mother'' want to shut her down for something she doesn't even remember doing]] without wanting to give her a hug and tell her everything will be okay.
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePenguinsOfMadagascar'': [[OnlySaneMan Maurice]]. Poor guy bends over backward for [[{{Jerkass}} King Julien]] day and night, and barely gets any thanks for it. And how can you watch the [[HumiliationConga pilot episode]] and not want to give him a big hug? The fact that his species is one of the greatest examples of an UglyCute[=/=]{{Woobie}} animal alive certainly doesn't hurt.
* Tommy Cadle from ''WesternAnimation/PetAlien'' often has to endure the aliens' antics, is bullied by [[JerkJock Clinton,]] bossed around by [[SpoiledBrat Melba Manners]] and is often [[TheScapegoat blamed for things that the aliens caused.]] One can't help but take pity on him.
* Pinky from ''WesternAnimation/PinkyAndTheBrain''. Despite his cheerful personaity, he undergoes BreakTheCutie quite a bit. In the Christmas episode, Brain makes him cry and he's also broken down in tears of pain during the Halloween Special, The Pink Candidate, That Smarts, Inherit The Wheeze, The Family That Poits Together Narfs Together and Operation Sea Lion to name a few episodes. Who wouldn't want to hug him after all the heartache he's been put through?
* Both Snitter and Rowf from ''Literature/ThePlagueDogs''. Snitter's master is killed by jumping in front of truck to save Snitter's life. Snitter is blamed for his master's death and sent to animal research lab, where this poor terrier receives experimental brain surgery. Rowf is drowned and then revived by "the whitecoats" simply so they can measure his will to survive. Even though, Rowf hates and fears "the whitecoats" he still believes it is a dog's duty to serve people. And on top of all this, every time you think something good will finally happen to Snitter and Rowf, something twenty times worse than what you can imagine happens. And even worse, [[spoiler:they don't get the happy ending they had in the book (in which Snitter's owner is alive and adopts them both). No, the last we see of them is that they're swimming out into the ocean with the faint hope of finding an island they can be safe on, but probably instead are just going to drown. [[TearJerker GAH!!!]]]]
* ''WesternAnimation/ReadyJetGo'': It's rather difficult not to pity Sean. First off, even though he dreams of being an astronaut, he actively fears being in outer space. This, coupled with him suffering from claustrophobia, acrophobia, and a sensitive stomach (and PerformanceAnxiety, but that's besides the point), all stands in the way of said dream. Second, even though he makes it clear that he is nervous about going to space, he's always forced to do so (it's consider an OutOfCharacterAlert if he actually wants to go to space). Third, he seems to suffer some sort of anxiety disorder. He's paranoid about getting fingerprints on his telescope, and is a major perfectionist. He really needs a hug.
* Misery from ''WesternAnimation/RubyGloom'' is quite Woobie-ish. She always looks sad and she's super cute and bad things always happen to her. Misery is an unusual case of Woobie and ChewToy actually overlapping. Her misfortune is nearly always played for laughs, her ability to shrug it off is a major part of her personality, and yet she ''still'' has moments where you just want to give her a hug.
* ''WesternAnimation/SheepInTheBigCity'':
** Sheep. He's constantly being chased by the military to be used in a sheep powered ray gun, beaten up by a mean old rich lady, struggles to fit into the big city at first and has been abused by a bratty little girl who insists that he's a "doggie". Poor, poor Sheep.
* ''WesternAnimation/SkullIsland2023'':
** Mike -- poor Mike. His own father is brutally crushed into visceral pulp by a monster, ''right in front of his eyes''; he's stranded on an IsleOfGiantHorrors and furthermore burdened with the knowledge that it's partly his own fault that he and his closest remaining friends are in this situation to begin with. [[spoiler:And to make matters worse, throughout the season, he's getting hopelessly sicker and sicker from the Kraken's venom while being constantly aware of it]].
** Though Annie at least has her profound friendship with Dog and the happiness he brings her to alleviate a lot of her trauma, things still aren't sunshine and rainbows for her either. She was cut off from civilization and stranded on an uncharted, monster-populated island with no human contact barring her father... and then her father and her now-best friend's father butchered each-other when the former was acting to save her, and she forced herself to bury whatever was left of her dad. All of this happened to Annie when she was just ''six years old''. Over the following ten years, Annie became practically [[WildChild feral]] to survive, then she got abducted by mercenaries and stranded on Skull Island while escaping them.
* ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'':
** Butters is constantly mistreated and abused both by the boys and by his authoritarian parents (who punish him horribly for things he hasn't done, has had no control over, or shouldn't be considered as bad at all). And yet he still keeps a fairly sunny disposition. Even when he finally loses it and becomes supervillain Professor Chaos, his schemes are so endearingly pathetic (like stealing erasers and trying to flood the earth with a garden hose) that you still want to just give him a big hug and make him feel better.
** Pip, the British orphan kid that disappeared somewhere between the sixth and seventh season. He's constantly bullied and picked on by his peers for being different. And then he reappeared in the 201st episode...[[DroppedABridgeOnHim and got stepped on by Mecha-Streisand.]]
** Stan and Kyle also suffer from the effects of living in a CrapsackWorld like South Park. Stan lives with, aside from a decent sensible mother, an [[BigBrotherBully abusive older sister]], a ManChild father, and a suicidal grandfather, but the highest points of Stan's Woobie status were when [[spoiler: Wendy broke up with him for four seasons]], and the DramaBomb-laden "You're Getting Old". Kyle's life might be worse than Stan's considering what happens to him in more recent episodes, and not only that, but his parents are an over-bearing MamaBear and an AmoralAttorney that shifts between being a decent father or, on occasion, treating Kyle like a WellDoneSonGuy. Furthermore, in one episode Kyle gets sued and the plaintiff attorney is none other than ''his own father.''
** Kip Drordy from ''You Have 0 Friends''. Only someone with a heart of stone doesn't melt at this poor third grader's quest for Facebook friendship. It's very telling when a fan page created for him swells to 30,000 fans overnight.
** Kenny. He's poor and lives in constant poverty, his parents drink, do drugs and fight all the time to the point that he's completely desensitized to it. Not to mention that he [[spoiler: [[WhoWantsToLiveForever can't ever stay dead anytime he dies]] and [[AndIMustScream is the only one who remembers every single death he's had and no one believes him.]]]]
** Tweek is considered this by some, being an anxiety-ridden NervousWreck with [[AbusiveParents parents]] who feed him unhealthy amounts of possibly meth-infused coffee to deal with his "ADHD" and, by his father's own admission, have him work in the backroom of their coffee shop all day.
* ''WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants'':
** Sandy has woobie moments too, namely being the only land dweller in an ocean full of sea creatures who worked her ass off to get respect from them. There's episodes like Squirrel Jokes where Spongebob (unwittingly) causes the poor girl to be publicly humiliated and heckled everywhere she goes.
** Squidward also is one too. See his entry in [[JerkassWoobie/WesternAnimation Jerkass Woobie]].
** Spongebob. He gets hit with one too many BreakTheCutie moments so many times. And when it hits him, it hits him ''hard''.
* ''Franchise/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles'':
** What do you get when you put an {{Adorkable}} TeenGenius through hell? Donatello. [[JustForFun/OneMarioLimit Yes,]] ''[[JustForFun/OneMarioLimit that]]'' [[WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2003 Donatello.]] He's the one who gets captured by aliens, sent to a BadFuture, [[BrainwashedAndCrazy mutated beyond recognition]] and, generally, gets the [[StealthPun short end of the stick]]. On top of everything, he's a TechnicalPacifist and [[TheProfessor a reptile of science]], which, respectively, conflict with the fact that he also happens to be a ninja and a mutant. There are some episodes where you just can't help wanting to give him a hug.[[note]]Watch ''The King'' and the end of the Outbreak arc-- that is to say ''Adventures in Turtle Sitting'', and ''Good Genes Parts 1 & 2''.[[/note]]
** Leatherhead from the ''WesternAnimation/TeenageMutantNinjaTurtles2012'' incarnation. He was a pet as a regular alligator, until his owner's parents found him and flushed him. He was then captured by the Kraang and subjected to experiments and ColdBloodedTorture that left him experiencing fits of UnstoppableRage at '''hearing''' the word Kraang that he can't control and causes him to do things he's horrified with after he snaps out of it.
** April, from the above cartoon, has been hunted, orphaned, kidnapped, seen her dad mutated--twice--in front of her and outright betrayed or abandoned by friends and family, and learned her whole life has pretty much been a lie. All at 16.
* ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans'': Plasmus. The poor guy's incapable of controlling his sludge monster form whenever he's conscious, essentially has to be kept in an artifical coma for his entire life to stay human, and in his only speaking role, he's visibly ''terrified'' of what he'll do to people when he's awake.
* ''WesternAnimation/TimeSquad'':
** Otto Osworth. Otto was living in a horrible orphanage where a nun named Sister Thornly often singled him out to force him to do hard labor type chores a 7 year old couldn't possibly do by himself, all because he broke one of her big rules: no reading. It's impossible for this kid to not read, and for someone that just wants, mind you ''loves'' to read history for the fun of it, it’s really sad that he would be ostracized and berated for something so innocent, and pretty endearing. Also when he is finally with a closest thing to a 'family', Tuddrussel and Larry aren't always to the task. Like when they completely '''ABANDON''' him on a desert island and he had to find for himself, living off sand and salt water and almost getting killed by monkeys; all because Tuddrussel and Larry were having a petty argument. And that isn’t the only time they’ve done that to him ether, and all for very stupid reasons.
** Larry 3000, a sophisticated, sensitive robot that was once serving kings and presidents and worked as an ambassador for Earth until world peace was ultimately accomplished, then everything went downhill. Without a job and considered almost useless he went to work for Time Squad and got saddled with Buck Tuddrussel, while a lot of HoYay goes on in the show you can't help but feel sorry for a robot that's reduced to cooking and cleaning for two humans without so much as a thank you and is often reduced to tears because of Tuddrussel's JerkAss attitude towards him.
* Luxor from ''WesternAnimation/{{Tutenstein}}''. It must really suck being a servant to a JerkAss pharaoh, but his most woobie-ish moment is in Something Sphinx where he thinks he's being replaced by a monkey servant and is so sad about it he walks away, not even bothering to pick up his ball of yarn.
* Koala Man of ''WesternAnimation/UglyAmericans''. They guy chokes in the first episode and [[ZombieAdvocate Mark]] is the only one who moves to help him. He can't reach the elevator button on his own--too short. He gets picked out as a possible problem when Honest Abe comes to town, and the cops tell him he is "in for a world of hurt," as he whimpers. It gets you cheering when he steals a plate of cookies, though.
* H.E.L.P.eR in ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBros''. Similar to Woodhouse in ''WesternAnimation/{{Archer}}'', H.E.L.P.eR is the long-suffering domestic servant who essentially raised the show's protagonists, but is generally treated as a broken-down machine without feelings. He frequently suffers terrible mishaps and is often broken and all but destroyed, with few of the characters batting an eyelash.
* The latter in the ''WesternAnimation/WallaceAndGromit'' relationship, receives a fair amount of ill-treatment in ''WesternAnimation/TheWrongTrousers''. You're sure to feel sad for poor Gromit when he feels so pushed out by the manipulative Feathers that he has no choice but to run away from home.
* ''WesternAnimation/WorkItOutWombats'':
** It's very easy to feel sorry for Zeke losing [[SecurityBlanket Snout]] in "Snout and About," especially since he's so little. The same goes for when Malik kept ignoring his feelings in "Brother Day."
** Mr. E is just this man who has no idea what to do with his personality. He knows deep down that he's [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold lighthearted and kind]], [[{{Tsundere}} but he's too insecure to show that side of himself often]]. He only really opens up when he's around [[IntergenerationalFriendship Zeke]] and [[InterspeciesRomance Ellie]]. Mr. E desperately needs a hug.
* Moosel from ''WesternAnimation/TheWuzzles''. There are times where you just want to wrap the poor moose-seal hybrid in a big hug and tell him everything will be okay. The fact that his voice actor passed away thus ending the series somehow only amplified his {{Moe}} factor. In the Hollywuz episode, Hoppo pretty much treats the poor little guy as a doormat and in Moosel's Monster, the other Wuzzles yell at him for his over active imagination causing him to slowly waddle home. With tears in his eyes, Moosel laments that no one would want to be his friend with his overactive imagination not even himself.
* ''WesternAnimation/XiaolinShowdown'': [[IneffectualSympatheticVillain Jack Spicer]] may be the self-proclaimed "Evil Boy Genius", but no matter how much he tried to prove that he can be as evil as the ancient warriors, his limited powers, his weak will, along with having no magical powers means that both the Xiaolin Warriors and the Heylin never took him seriously as a threat. It got to the point that his triumph in the BadFuture comes across as a ThrowTheDogABone moment for Spicer.
* ''WesternAnimation/XMenEvolution'': One episode is devoted to Scott being kidnapped by Mystique, knocked out, and waking up in Mexico with his glasses stolen, leaving him forced to stumble around blindly, being attacked by wolves, falling off of cliffs, and being beaten up by Mystique. And she implies that she intends to keep knocking him out and abandoning him in even more remote places.
