She never did, so Ashido's fate remains unknown.
17	** The Shinigami have a special detachment called the Kido Corps, a secretive group that specializes in developing Kido. They do very little throughout the series, and it's unknown who the current leader is. Even when the Vandenreich invade Soul Society -- twice -- the Kido Corps are nowhere to be seen.
18	** Early in the Blood War Arc, Harribel is shown chained up in the Quincy fortress. Despite the [[ArcFatigue incredible length of the arc]], she's never seen again and her fate is unknown.

Then suddenly, they have zero appearances in the third season, though their subplots seem to be resolved at the end of the second season. Still, if you look at it, the four main girls of the show seem to forget them and not even mention them ever again. Poor girls.
23	* In ''Manga/{{Chobits}}'' first episode when Hideki finds Chii and carries her to his apartment, he doesn't notice a data disk that falls from her; the close-up given to the disk on the floor implies that it is something important but its never mentioned again nor it contents revealed. Another example where it's resolved in another medium; in this case, the manga has the explanation, overlapping AbortedArc. At that stage in the show, they were essentially copying the manga into anime form, but since the anime ended differently than the manga, they decided not to use the original purpose of the disc. 25	** The first chapter of the manga ends with Ryo telling his cancer-ill client to not pay him with her life insurance but to allow him to be her man in her last days, but we never see her again (she could be the woman who jumped Ryo in his home and considered himself his fiancee that appeared in the following story arc, but they acted very differently and Only Six Faces didn't help).
26	** The strange people living in Ryo's building. They showed up in one anime episode/manga story arc, and then disappeared.
27	** Sayaka Ryujin moves into Ryo's home halfway her story arc with the stated intention to marry Ryo, but at the end of her arc she disappears with no apparent reason.
28	** Union Teope in the anime: they have a one-episode appearance to kill Hideyuki (with the episode leaving out most of the story arc, but then disappear after that, with only another episode where they show up. Averted in the manga, where their reason to disappear is clearly stated (Ryo was dead-set to destroy them and had utterly mocked and fooled their best hitman before killing him, so they had to find someone capable of doing the job before returning to Japan), they set in motion Sayaka Ryujin's story arc, and return at the end of the manga.
29	** Kasumi Aso: at the end of her story arc she starts working at the Cat's Eye, but she doesn't reappear in the anime.
30	** The chief and Kazue disappear after Silver Fox's second arc. This is very notable because Kazue initial story arc was based on a killer bee and the need to find an antidote that doesn't cause impotence, antidote that reappeared when the villain of Kasumi Aso's second arc hypnotized Ryo into impotence.

33	*** Sunohara ''deserves'' a special mention because his status in the original VisualNovel; while the anime has all the girls together and some of their routes glued in despite the obvious Nagisa end, the VisualNovel is straightforward in making any girl not needed for a particular route disappear just like that, but Sunohara is present in ''all'' of them no exceptions thus is quite jarring seeing Tomoya suddenly not having his ever present friend when he needed him the most.
34	*** Sunohara takes a job in entertainment industry out of town. Maybe just busy. It must be noted that Kyou, Ryou, and Tomoyo are in the same town but they rarely meet him.
35	** In the ''Kyou Chapter'', all girls except for Kyou and Ryou seemed to have totally disappeared. Sure, the focus is Tomoya's blooming romance with Kyou, but does that mean his friendship with the others would just disappear like that? Same for the ''Tomoyo Chapter''.

37	* In general, ''Manga/DeathNote'' manages to resolve most of its plot lines, and most events that occur early on have some sort of bearing on future events.

Of course, we know what happened, but the investigation team seems to lose interest pretty quickly (which is probably natural, given how well it's been covered up). Her ordeal leaves her [[DefiledForever an empty shell]] of [[PurityPersonified her former self]] and her role is [[DemotedToExtra drastically reduced.]] Her final appearance is limited to a single page image in ''"MILF of Steel: Forever"'' with [[LampshadeHanging a caption asking what happened to her?]] It's never said whether she recovers.

46	** Averted quite literally during the Red Ribbon Army Arc. While immobilized by General Blue's paralysis technique in an undersea cave, Goku is saved when a mouse suddenly runs out and frightens his opponent into canceling the technique. Later, after recovering the Dragonball and with the cave crumbling around him, Goku goes back for the mouse out of gratitude and manages to escape with it at the last second. The mouse was last seen drying itself off on the beach of Master Roshi's island where presumably it lived the rest of its life in peace.
47	** And there's the infamous case of Launch. Launch was a prominent character in the original ''Dragon Ball'' saga, living with Master Roshi and having a crush on Tien. However, partway through the Saiyan Saga, when she disappears to look for help in dealing with the incoming threat of Vegeta and Nappa, she ends up not returning at all. Nothing is said about her whereabouts or what she was doing afterwards and only shows up ''once'' during the very end of the Buu Saga (and that's only in the anime because Akira Toriyama completely forgot about her and forgot how she looked). Although [[WordOfGod according to a 2013 interview with Toriyama]], she apparently moved in with Tien.
48	** In the movie continuity, Gohan had a dragon companion named Icarus who would help him ever since he was rescued in ''Tree of Might''. After it showed up in the Garlic Jr. FillerArc Saga, it made one last appearance in the Trunks Saga before disappearing completely. Team Four Star played with this by having Goku eat Icarus at the end of ''Return of Cooler Abridged''.
49	* From ''Manga/FairyTail'':
50	** Near the end of the "Lullaby" arc, Natsu has a fight with [[RedBaron "Grim Reaper"]] Erigor, the head of the Dark Guild Eisenwald. Natsu wins, but during a moment of distraction, Erigor goes missing. The characters even ask where he is, until more pressing concerns distract them again. We still have no idea where the heck Erigor is, and there doesn't seem to be any indication that Erigor will be mentioned again. Of course, Mashima-sensei has a talent for remembering little details and characters he's used in the past, and bringing them back later... but usually there's some evidence that he hasn't forgotten, even if it's just an EasterEgg. Erigor has literally never been mentioned again.
51	*** He makes a brief reappearance in the anime during the early part of the Nirvana arc. For a rematch with Natsu. He gets CRUSHED in the span of about 3 minutes.
52	*** The anime upgrades him to a member of the ''Oracion Seis'' during the ''Key of the Starry Heavens'' filler arc in the anime before being PutOnAPrisonBus at the end. Erik apparently didn't care enough to have him released so he presumably remained there.
53	** Oddly, despite Lucy acquiring Sorano's keys at the end of the Nirvana arc, her silver key Caelum is never seen again. Then again considering Lucy barely uses her silver keys compared to her gold ones it's entirely possible she does have Caelum's key but never bothered to use it.
54	** Surviving Seven Kin members, Rustyrose and Kain Hikaru are last seen on the Grimoire Heart airship with [[BigBad Zeref]] and never come up again outside of Mr. Cursey showing up in the Avatar arc in Abel's possession. The anime adaptation of the ''Tartaros'' arc added a filler that had Rustyrose show up to fight ''Crime Sorciere'' while mentioning that Kain was likely deceased.

56	* In ''Manga/FamilyCompo'', Akane Fujisaki. She gets her own StoryArc, spanning several chapters. She appears in the first pages of the new arc and calls the main character a bastard (long story). And then she drops off the face of the Earth, never to be seen again.
57	* ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'' is generally ''very'' good about wrapping up its plot details, but there are still two small examples that end up slipping by.
58	** First, Sheska simply goes poof plot-wise about 1/3 of the way through. She's introduced helping out the Elric brothers and makes one small appearance after that, but is never mentioned again after that.
59	** Later, Winry gives Edward her earrings when they're near [[GrimUpNorth Briggs]] to keep her ears from getting frostbite. She makes Ed promise to give them back to her to motivate him to get through everything safely. 60	* ''Literature/FullMetalPanic'' has Sarah Miller (Known as Kudan Mira in the original Japanese version.) People who have watched the entire series may be wondering, who the hell is Sarah Miller? Well, she's the red haired girl who is rescued by Sousuke in [[ActionPrologue the very first episode]]. Her kidnapping by Gauron (along with her unique hair color) implies that she is a whispered and therefore fairly important, but she is never seen again or even mentioned outside of that opening scene. [[spoiler: In the anime at least. In the novels she comes up again, where it is revealed that she is indeed a whispered (and under the protection of Mithril.)]]
61	** Sarah/Mira finally appeared again in the anime's third season, Invisible Victory, which aired a full sixteen years after her first and previously only appearance.
62	* The Zakenna butlers live throughout both seasons of ''Anime/FutariWaPrettyCure'' and are never shown being killed, yet their fate at the end of ''Max Heart'' is left unaddressed. They are last seen at the Dusk Zone's mansion.

68	* ''Manga/InitialD'' usually does a fairly good job of at least ''kinda'' giving closure to most of its minor characters (or reviving them for future arcs, a la Kai Kogashiwa), but there are two notable instances where Shuichi Shigeno was just plain brutal. First was Sayuki. After Takumi Fujiwara's duel with Impact Blue, they're seen at a water park, and it's strongly hinted that she has feelings for him. We'll never know for sure, unfortunately, because this is the last we ever see or hear of her. Second was the Night Kids. It's strongly hinted that they were a well-respected team before the Red Suns and Takumi came along to make a mess of things, and there are very palpable rumblings of dissention from Shingo Shoji. We see Takeshi Nakazato, once a dominant racer, lose to Seiji Iwaki, marking his third straight loss and second straight on his home turf. Seiji proceeds to publicly humiliate the team. And THAT'S IT; we never hear anything about Takeshi, Shingo, or the Night Kids ever again. (Oh yeah, Seiji also disappears into the mists a few chapters later.)
69	* An early chapter/episode of ''Manga/{{Inuyasha}}'' features a haunted Noh mask that is empowered by a Shikon shard. This wouldn't be ''that'' unusual, except it takes place entirely in present-day Japan. Kagome suggests afterwards that there might be other Shikon shards that survived to present-day Japan, but this is never brought up again.
70	* In Episode 7 of Anime/KanColle, we see [[spoiler:Shouhou]] getting heavily damaged by the Abyssals and is last seen in an inferno, but that is the last we see of her. 74	* An example that was caused by editing away a ''not-so-superfluous'' scene: ''Macross: Clash of the Bionoids'' was an American VHS release of ''Anime/MacrossDoYouRememberLove'' with an English dub and over 20 minutes of running time cut. One of the cut scenes was that of Hikaru contacting the bridge of the ''Macross'' after the explosion of Boddole Zer's ship, leading to a case of "What Happened to the ''Main Character''?"!
75	** The ''Anime/{{Macross}}'' series itself has a big one in the form of the ''Megaroad-01'' Fleet, which was carrying the protagonists from the original ''Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross''. According to the series chronology, the fleet simply ''vanished'' four years after its launch, somewhere near the center of the galaxy. Nobody, in-universe or out, knows what happened to them. The manual for the video game ''Macross M3'' claims [[spoiler:that the fleet got swallowed by a black hole, but fans are divided as to whether or not to take this as canon]]. However, this plot point would be ''finally'' picked up in ''Anime/MacrossDelta: [[FinaleMovie Absolute Live]]'', which reveals that [[spoiler:Lady M, Xaos's MysteriousBenefactor, is none other than the ''Megaroad-01'', and part of the antagonists' goals is draw it out of hiding and destroy it. They almost succeed in doing so during the FinalBattle, as a FreezeFrameBonus shows the ''Megaroad-01'' itself in one of the fold tears with the silhouettes of Minmay and Misa on the bridge]].
76	* The ''Literature/MagicalWarfare'' anime has this bad, due to its tendency to introduce new story elements and plot twists at will and then forget about them almost immediately. We never find out what happened to Ida's sister, who was kidnapped by Wizard Brace's secret service. We never find out what happened to Takeshi's mother, who was training him using a ring that amplified her powers at the cost of her own life force. In fact, the show's [[NoEnding sudden and]] [[GainaxEnding incomprehensible ending]] means that hardly ''anyone'' gets any closure, not even ''the main character''.
77	* ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam00'': During the first season, the politicians of the major power blocs played an important if supporting roles. But by Season 2, there's no mention of them after the time skip thanks to the formation of the Earth Sphere Federation. The Union President does make a cameo at the season finale.
78	** The same thing occurs to Celestial Being's Observers, who apparently monitor the organization in one episode. They're never seen or mentioned again in the show outside of Alejandro Corner.

It is generally agreed that Miss Sumeragi is deceased since she has a ship named after her, but the rest of Celestial Being is a question mark. A side-story would establish that Celestial Being was involved in a war against an Anti-Innovator faction with a upgraded ''Gundam Raphael'' but its never clarified who the pilot was or if anybody we know took part.
82	* In ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny'', Lord Djibril is seen in most of his appearances with a black Persian RightHandCat. However, when he escapes the Orb Union following Operation Fury, the cat disappears completely, leaving its fate up in the air. In the HD Remaster, it's redrawn to show that his cat escaped its horrible master and watches as he escapes to the moon.
83	* In ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamUnicorn'', when we see the Zeon Remnants preparing to head to Torrington Base, one of the suits appearing is a Gouf Heavy Arms Type. But, when looking at the suits attacking the base, the Gouf is not seen at all. It's [[EpilepticTrees a common belief]] that the pilot got lost trying to find it and the arcade game ''Gundam Try Age'' suggests that the pilot arrived in Torrington way after the battle and had no idea he was there.
84	* In ''Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam'' minor antagonist Gates Capa completely disappears after [[spoiler: his "sister" Rosamia is killed]] without being given an on-screen death himself. Though this is shown to have some kind of mental effect on him, he never appears again in the series. It's [[EpilepticTrees a common belief]] that he was meant to appear in the sequel ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ'' at some point. The anime "corrects" this by having both snakes entrapped in the swamp; after attacking Naruto, the snake inexplicably sinks. Summons in ''Naruto'' automatically return to where they came from eventually, so one can assume that's what happened to the second snake in the manga.
89	** Another comes a little while later: Hayate Gekko, the proctor for the third part of the chuunin exams, is killed by Baki when he finds out about the Sand and Sound village's plan to attack Konoha. When his body is a found, a female ANBU member named Yugao Uzuki turns out to be Hayate's lover, and swears revenge. She's never seen again, and when Baki and the whole Sand village pulled a HeelFaceTurn you're left wondering how she responded. One of the video games finally resolves the question, as if you start a match between Yugao and Baki, she will declare her desire for revenge at the beginning, and when using her special move. Filler in the Shinobi World War arc goes into this a little [[spoiler: she's now a medic nin and gets called out to deal with the zombified Hayate.]]
90	** The Akatsuki rings. Deidara, Orochimaru and Zetsu were all used to play up how incredibly important they were and the camera lingered tellingly on it a few times when Itachi first came to town. Not a single mention otherwise, and the series ended with that particular plot point never being visited again.
91	** There's also Hanabi, Hinata's sister, who is supposedly stronger/more promising than Hinata (which is ''before'' Hinata TookALevelInBadass, so it's unclear where she stands now), and was possibly favored for inheriting the clan. Since the arc of her first appearance, she's yet to do so again to further the Hyuuga relations/hierarchy subplot. For Pain's Invasion, she is implied to be away with her father for an unknown reason, but while Hiashi reappears [[spoiler:to fight in the Fourth Shinobi World War]], Hanabi has not. While the sword becomes a plot point, the exact reason why he stabbed his father is not explained apart from some sort of "desperate rage". While Arren's fear of death (or rather, his life's insignificance due to everyone dying some day) leads to him becoming kind of crazy and suicidal at times, it does not explain the murder. Also in the opening scene, sorcerers are shown to lose their power and dragons fight in the sky. The king, before being killed, is informed of some sort of plague spreading and ill omens of "dragons returning from the West". Sparrowhawk is seen losing his powers as well, and says it's due to "the Balance being upset". The Balance is briefly mentioned to be between [[TitleDrop earth and sea]], fire and wind (the dragon's established element), life and death. None if this is mentioned again. The plague is never explained, sorcerers are not shown to regain their powers even after the BigBad is killed, and the dragons don't appear apart from one main character briefly [[VoluntaryShapeshifter turning into one]] at the climax.
144	* In ''Anime/TamakoMarket'', there is the subplot of Midori possibly having deeper feelings for her best friend Tamako. In one episode, Midori even tries to prevent Mochizou from becoming closer to Tamako because of this.
