Based off of the popular movie and stage show, Theatre/LittleShopOfHorrors, Little Shop was a short-lived cartoon on the Fox Kids block in 1991. It features Seymour and Audrey as 13 year old kids in the present day. Additionally, Audrey II goes by the original name it got in the original Creator/RogerCorman movie, originated from a fossilized seed rather than from crossbreeding or outer space, and of course, it doesn't eat blood.

!!This show provides examples of:
* AdaptationDyeJob: In a recursive example, Audrey gets to be brunette again.
* AdaptationNameChange: In this continuity, Audrey is Mr. Mushnik's daughter, making her Audrey Mushnik instead of Audrey Fulquard.
* AdaptationSpeciesChange: Rather than being a hybrid created by Seymour (like in the original movie) or an extraterrestrial (like in the musical and its adaptation), Junior is a prehistoric species.
* AdaptationalHeroism: Junior, though not the most polite individual around, is generally benevolent unlike their film counterpart. They're only known to have eaten one person, and that was to protect Seymour.
* AnimatedAdaptation: It's an animated series based off a live-action movie.
* BigEater: Junior chomps up just about anything, even the title screen.
* BracesOfOrthodonticOverkill: The bully Paine Driller.
* ButtMonkey: It seems that Seymour can't go one episode without being tormented by Paine Driller.
* DecompositeCharacter: This show splits Orin into Dr. Driller and his son Paine.
%% * DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife
* ExtremeOmnivore: Seymour not only eats things like pizza and hamburgers, he occasionally munches on such random things as golf balls and carpentry tools.
* HeroWorship: Seymour was fond of a man named Dr. Appalling and made a homemade version of his invention that turns people into plants. [[spoiler:Appalling turns out to be a MadScientist whose invention turns people into their teeth, and ends up turned into a hydrangea by Junior]].
%% * HighSchool
* HighSchoolAU: The young adult characters from the original film have been aged down to be school students.
* InformedAttribute: Junior claims that he likes to eat people, as in the previous incarnations, but is generally shown eating regular food, such as pizza and sandwiches.
* ItsAWonderfulPlot: Subverted: Everyone in Seymour's life is better off in the world where he was never born.
* LighterAndSofter: The original story is sci-fi horror about a man-eating plant that ends with . This story is much more lighthearted, mostly because the plant doesn't eat people. Even the title reflects this, cutting the "of Horrors" from the title.
* MeaningfulName: Paine Driller is a bully.
* MythologyGag:
** Burson Fouch, the flower-eating guy from the original film, makes at least one cameo.
** Junior has a mind control power similar to that of the original film, albeit absent from the musical.
** A Creator/JackNicholson caricature shows up in an episode or two, to reflect Jack's small role in the original Roger Corman movie.
* ObliviousToLove: Audrey has no idea that Seymour likes her.
* ProudToBeAGeek: Played with in the opening of the first episode. Seymour has "spent thirteen years trying to be a nerd". What is he missing? "Brains."
* PunnyName: For a start, the dentist's son Paine Driller.
* RelatedInTheAdaptation: This show's versions of Mr. Mushnik and Audrey are father and daughter.
* SparedByTheAdaptation: None of the characters who died in the original () die in the cartoon.
* SpinoffBabies: It's an aged-down version of Little Shop of Horrors, though it's downplayed as they're not toddlers, but young teenagers.
* ThemeTuneRap: The theme song is a rap by Junior.
-->"Word, Li'l Shop!"
* UnusualEuphemism: Junior frequently uses various plant-related swearing substitutes such as "Compost!" and "Mulch!"
* YoungerAndHipper: The entire main cast.
