!!Tropes:
* AbhorrentAdmirer: Rajeev to Lolo. And Lolo to Spencer in "Lolo in Love".
* AbsurdlyPowerfulStudentCouncil: In "The Candidate", the president has the power to banish students to a 'classroom' if they don't like them.
%%* AdultsAreUseless
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Rajeev loves Lolo, but she hates him, Spencer of course is crushing on Mallory, but, despite her kind nature, she seems to not notice/care, and Shanilla has a crush on Spencer, but he's oblivious to that.
* TheBeautifulElite: Most of the rich kids at the school act this way.
* [[CantKillYouStillNeedYou Can't Expel You Still Need You]]: Initially Ponzi would love nothing more than to expel Spencer from the school, only to later realize that without him he wouldn't have anyone to take his frustrations out on as every other student comes from a wealthy and well connected family that could ruin him if he did anything to them.
* DisembodiedEyebrows: The default style of the characters as most of them have rather large eyes and not enough forehead space for eyebrows.
* DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength: Billy has turned a part of Spencer's room into a chasm at one point during a diva fit, and has even possessed other unintentionally. Due to leaving his ectoplasm around he has accidentally created various monsters that he and Spencer in turn have to deal with before they hurt someone.
* {{Expy}}: There is a particular Music/JustinBieber {{expy}} named Jonah Tyler Taylor (better known as J.T.T.) in "Phantom of the Popera".
* GenuineImpostor: In ''Summertime Rules'', after discovering that seagull poop makes ghosts visible, Spencer has Billy perform a concert as a Billy Joe Cobra impersonator.
%%* HarmlessElectrocution: Spencer in "Scaring Mallory".
* ISeeDeadPeople: Due to wearing one of Billy's amulets, Spencer can see, speak, and interact with him.
* ISeeThemToo: Spencer also gave some of Billy's possessions to his two best friends, [[PluckyComicRelief Rajeev]] and [[TheHeart Shanila]].
* InvisibleToNormals: Billy Joe Cobra can only be seen and heard by people wearing something that he owned in life.
* LetNoCrisisGoToWaste: Whenever Spencer encounters a dangerous monster, usually due to Billy's ectoplasm, he turns on his camera and starts filming it for a monster movie. [[spoiler:This fails against Hugh as the Cactus Monster, because Hugh destroys his camera when he gets too close.]]
* LovePotion: Billy managed to create a song version of this that would cause any woman who hears it to fall in love with the singer. Spencer mistakenly sang it where Lolo could hear and caused her to fall head over heels for him, after Rajeev failed to do the same since he couldn't sing it properly.
* MundaneUtility: Billy, an actual ghost, often uses his powers to help Spencer make movies.
* NeverSayDie: Despite the show being about a boy and his ghost, the word 'die' is never said, and the concept of death is usually dodged around.
** However in "Escape From Beverly Beverly High", Lolo says killed when talking about breaking into Ponzi's vault.
--->'''Lolo:''' If we help you we might get killed, but if we survive we'll be rid of you forever!
** Apparently words like "die" "kill" and "dead" can be used as long as these words aren't used to describe Billy.
* NonIdleRich: Mr. Minotaur works as an educator out of devotion for his idol Manuel P. Goppers and claims he doesn't need the pay because one of his ancestors invented the receipt.
* NoSuchThingAsBadPublicity: In-universe. When Spencer tries to find a way to sell candy to a ton of people, Billy tries to help get his image out there... by framing him for a grocery store robbery and getting him arrested.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: Billy's ectoplasm can apparently bring anything to life or turn it into a ghost if consumed. Also, he can't be seen unless someone is wearing a personal item.
** It's implied that this is partially due to him being bad at being a ghost, as in the series more powerful ghosts are able to appear without the need for people to be in posession of their personal items.
** "Summertime Rules!" reveals that seagull poop makes him visible. It's never explained how or why though.
* {{Pilot}}: Averted; there is no known pilot episode for this series.
* RoyaltiesHeir: When Mr. Minotaur becomes the Principal of Beverly Beverly High School and AlphaBitch Lolo Calorie tries to use her father's wealth to intimidate him, he says he doesn't need bribes because one of his ancestors invented the receipt.
* RunningGag: The "CALIENTE" joke on "School of Rockers"
* SceneryPorn: The backgrounds scenes in the series are really colorful and gorgeous.
* ShoutOut: There are various shout outs to Mario and Tron in "Axe Maniac", and Billy will reference other, actual bands in casual conversation from time to time.
** In "Billy's Achilles" the song Billy sings has lyrics reminiscent of a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLXYiF_BdAs song]] sang by an irl dead popstar.
** "The Sleepover" is basically a G-rated version of Film/TheHangover, right down to its name.
* SpiritualSuccessor: To WesternAnimation/DannyPhantom, not only are both shows about ghosts, Spencer looks a lot like Danny.
** Arguably, Series/TeenAngel, especially the ongoing conflict of Spencer getting caught "talking to himself".
* StalkerWithACrush: The mysterious Madame X, who wants to add Billy's ghost to her collection.
* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome: In "The Sleepover", Rajeev is wealthy enough to pay the million dollar ransom. The problem is that it's four in the morning, and his broker doesn't get into the office until nine.
* SweetheartSipping: Sam Hoover and Billy in "Billy Joe's Last Fan" during Hoover's memory montage of their day.
** Billy does this again with Rajeev in "Three's A Crowd".
* TerrifyingPetStoreRat: In-universe. Spencer tries to make a move about a water monster with his pet goldfish, [[JustifiedTrope because he's a fourteen year old boy with limited resources.]] Then it gets subverted when Billy's ectoplasm turns it into a monster.
%%* TotallyRadical
* VomitDiscretionShot: In "The Ghost of Spencer Wright", when Spencer is [[ItMakesSenseInContext turning back into a human after swallowing some of Billy's ectoplasm]], and in "Sports Hero", when Billy is sick.
* ThoseWackyNazis: In "Summertime Rules", Billy is angry with Spencer for ruining summer fun with overly strict rules, and demonstrates this by turning into a SS soldier. You can't see the swastika, but you can see the white circle on red armband.
