''Destination Imagination'' is the third and final MadeForTVMovie for the series ''WesternAnimation/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends''. It premiered November 27, 2008 falls somewhere in the sixth season of the show depending on how you watch it[[note]]In airing order, it falls in the middle of the season, but by production order - the order we're following - it's the GrandFinale to the show[[/note]]

This time, the Foster's crew receives a mysterious box that is not to be opened, but when Frankie directly disobeys Mr. Herriman's orders not to peek inside, she finds herself in a glorious kingdom inhabited by one lonely imaginary friend. Frankie continues to visit the box each day, and her friend grows so attached to her that he eventually decides not to let her go, and it's up to Mac, Bloo, Coco, Wilt, and Eduardo to rescue her, as they come to realize that the seemingly harmless world inside the box isn't all it appears to be.
----
!!The film provides examples of:

* AmbiguousSituation: We never get the details behind why World's creator's parents sent World to Foster's, locked up in a toy chest with instructions not to let him out. Judging by their dialogue, it can be inferred that World tried to essentially kidnap him and keep him in his realm forever.
* BaitAndSwitch: When Frankie tries to leave the castle, the doors slam shut while World states that she didn't have to leave, as if to say World is forcefully trapping her there. When Mac and the others storm the castle to save her, they find her [[spoiler:happily getting a massage. Turns out she agreed to World's point of view.]]
* BigBad: World is definitely the most intense villain from the series. He's more of an AntiVillain, though, [[IJustWantToHaveFriends as all he wants is friends]].
* BigNo: World unleashes this after Mr. Herriman scolds him, causing a ''humongous'' VillainousBreakdown from World's part.
* BrickJoke: When Frankie first enters World, she scribbles something on a cardboard tree (see CurseCutShort). When Eduardo finds the tree, Wilt immediately scribbles the word out. After Herriman causes World to break apart and they find that tree again, he reads what is written and is shocked at what he sees.
* BrokenBridge: The musical piano bridge [[spoiler: thanks to World trying to make sure the heroes don't get to Frankie]].
* BigWordShout: Mr. Herriman shouts "STOP!" when Frankie and the others are arguing over whether or not to let World out, which leads to him admitting that he was absolutely wrong at scolding her and is trusting her judgement.
* CallBack: Mac is [[spoiler:the only one who doesn't eat the sleeping powder laced crumpets]] because of said container being labeled "powdered sugar" and he has adverse reactions to the stuff.
* CharacterDevelopment: Some there between Frankie and Mr. Herriman to the point where [[spoiler: Mr. Herriman admits that it was wrong of him to act so harsh and judgmental towards her]].
* CloneArmy: When Bloo and the gang fall into the silly-putty like glob pool, the putty rises into images of them.
* ConvenientReplacementCharacter: Mr. Herriman tries to replace Frankie after she disappears, the first (Emmy, who looks exactly like Frankie, only with longer hair and a Mojo Jojo shirt) runs off after seeing all of Frankie's duties, a second look-a-like who is male, and several other workers (who Herriman instantly fires over little things).
* CurseCutShort: There is some profanity found in a scene when the gang looks for Frankie and finds her "written" honest thought about Herriman. Although you won't see clearly what it says, but when Eduardo reads it he reads: "Mr. Herriman is a big fat..." Then Wilt censors it before he could say it aloud. It's theorized for fans that the last word is "Asshole!".
* DarkerAndEdgier: Noticeably more so than the series and [[WesternAnimation/HouseOfBloos the other]] [[WesternAnimation/GoodWiltHunting TV movies]]. It was even rated TV-PG.
* DownTheRabbitHole: Frankie enters World through the Toy Box that he's kept in.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: Mr. Herriman's general dismissal of Frankie is increased even further here, as he does not see how her way of doing things actually benefits the imaginary friends nor does he appreciate how she works herself to exhaustion every single day, even after he's forced to take on her chores herself. Frankie even chews Mac and the others out for wanting her back not because she's their friend, but rather for all the chores she does for them. The end of the special has Mr. Herriman finally accept that Frankie isn't the irresponsible layabout he's viewed her as for years, but is instead a vital part of Foster's who is deserving of respect and appreciation, being the only one to trust her decision to [[spoiler:let World out of the box]]. Afterwards, everyone is now seen taking part in helping Frankie finish her chores.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: [[spoiler: Frankie is now respected by Mr. Herriman and has the other Imaginary Friends help her out with her chores. Meanwhile, World can freely travel throughout the real world and have the imaginary friends have fun with him in his world.]]
* EveryoneHasStandards: When Mr. Herriman starts scolding World, even ''Bloo'' looks on in horror.
* EveryoneLaughsEnding
* FacelessMasses: Quite literally every "inhabitant" of the toy box [[spoiler: until World uses their bodies.]]
* FiveSecondForeshadowing: The musical bridge needs every note played in the right order for the heroes to pass. So when the ranger ''intentionally'' presses on the wrong key just as the heroes were close to completing it, it's a sign that he's not the heroic figure he's made out to be.
* FlippantForgiveness: Bloo towards World.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: The bedtime story Frankie tells an imaginary friend near the start of the movie has a line that says how the princess finally got respected. World treats Frankie like she's a princess when she enters the toy box [[spoiler: and in the end, all the imaginary friends give her the appreciation and thanks she deserves.]]
* FreudianExcuse: World was locked up in a box and taken away from his creator. This explains why he is so emotionally hurt and has some serious abandonment issues.
* GenreSavvy: Mac turns the table on the puppy who gave them crumpets [[spoiler:laced with sleeping powder]] because of how it was was covered in powdered sugar.
* GrandFinale: While the final episode to air was "Goodbye to Bloo", most fans argue that this one wraps up the series quite nicely. This being the final episode produced certainly helps.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: World changes for the better in the end.]]
* HopeSpot: See InterruptedCooldownHug. Thanks again, Mr. Herriman.
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: World's motivation, since his creator's parents locked him up and left him at the doorstep of Foster's.
* InstantSedation: Twice--once when [[spoiler: World drugs the gang (sans Mac) with sleeping-powder laced crumpets]], and again when [[spoiler: World uses a magic sleeping gas to knock them out and trap them in a dollhouse version of Foster's]].
* InterruptedCooldownHug: Happens when Frankie had just calmed World down and made him friendly towards her friends when Mr. Herriman comes barging in and basically reinforces every one of his fears in one fell swoop before attempting to push everyone out of the toy chest. Cue the UnstoppableRage that literally tears the entire reality of the toy chest apart.
* ItIsDehumanizing: In the opening scene, [[spoiler:we see a couple hauling a chained-up toy chest into their car. When their young son (who we later learn is World's creator) comes outside,]] we get this exchange.
-->[[spoiler:'''Boy:''' Mommy? Daddy?\
'''Boy's Mother:''' (''picks him up'') It's okay, sweetie. (''hugs him'') You're safe now.\
'''Boy's Father:''' I'm taking it to a place where it can't keep you away from us anymore. Everything's going to be all right.]]
* JerkassHasAPoint: When World traps Frankie within the castle, [[spoiler:he makes a valid point that it's better here because at least she's cared for. Given how the first thing out of everyone else's mouth when they find her is "Who's going to take care of X for me?", they're not wrong. Even Frankie chews them out for how they truly "care" for her.]]
* KillItWithFire: At one point Coco lays an egg with a flamethrower inside, though she never actually kills anything with it but instead uses it to melt the plastic ball river into slag..
* MassOhCrap: Frankie, Mac, Bloo, Coco, Wilt and Eduardo when they watch Mr. Herriman scold World, who begins suffering a panic attack.
* MeaningfulEcho: Frankie diffuses a situation between Bloo and Eduardo on being the hero, with Eduardo repeating what Frankie told him in order to stand up to World in the last act.
* MoralityPet: Frankie is this to World.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Mr. Herriman ''immediately'' regrets scolding World when he sees the landscape break down.
-->'''Mr. Herriman:''' [[NeverMyFault Good heavens! What's happening?]]\
'''Bloo:''' You peeved[[note]]The closed captions say "pissed"[[/note]] him off, THAT'S WHAT'S HAPPENING!
* OnceMoreWithClarity: World seals the doors of the castle when Frankie suggest she wants to leave, with this being the last time we see Frankie for a good while in the film. When the gang finally gets to the castle to save her, [[spoiler: it turns out she's there of her own volition, having immediately agreed with him that she doesn't have to leave, since this is the one place she's actually treated with respect.]]
* OneWingedAngel: Mr. Herriman makes the mistake of verbally threatening World, an emotionally unstable RealityWarper with the thing he fears most, to be sealed away alone again. World replies by destroying his imaginary world and transforming into a massive chimera creature to try and reclaim Frankie, the only person in years who has treated him with kindness. It actually works out pretty well for him as no one can really stop him until Frankie calms the poor kid down.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: During Herriman's scolding on World, even ''Bloo'' looks horrified at the meltdown about to ensue.
* OrderedApology: Frankie does this for both World and Bloo. She's more kindly with World, but gives a flat out order to Bloo.
* PrecisionFStrike: Somewhat. Bloo tells Mr. Herriman that he ''peeved'' World off, but an error in the close captions on the original airing had him say ''pissed'' instead. [[Creator/KeithFerguson The voice actor]] has since said that he was supposed to say ‘peeved’, but he misread his line and said ‘pissed’ instead.
* PutOnABus: PlayedForLaughs. Madame Foster has been absent for most of the events. [[spoiler: The mid-credits scene reveals that Madame Foster has been on vacation this whole time. [[LockedOutOfTheLoop Cue a look of confusion as she's greeted with an empty foyer, wondering where everyone had gone.]]]]
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech:
** Frankie gives a big one to Bloo, Mac, Coco, Wilt, and Eduardo because they tried to rescue her for selfish reasons, and not because she was their friend.
-->'''Frankie''': Oh I get it. You didn't come to rescue me because you missed ''me''. You missed all the ''stuff'' I used to do for you! Well, you can forget it! I'm sick of taking care of everyone and everything and never getting a word of thanks, an ounce of help, or a tiny little smidgen of respect! You guys are just like Mr. Herriman! I'm just a servant to you! Well, guess what? In this world, I'm the one who's taken care of, and that's the way I like it!
** Herriman gives one to World that [[VillainousBreakdown inadvertently causes him to snap]] right after Frankie had finally calmed him down.
-->'''Mr. Herriman''': You young man, are a bad, bad, bad, bad, boy. Luring a naive young woman to this silly little imaginary world and keeping her from her duties. Tisk, tisk, tisk. Shame on you! Now, I'm taking Ms. Francis and those unsupported whimper-snappers over here back to their rightful home! And you young man, you are going to stay here in this toy chest, alone! And think long and hard about what you have done!
* SealedEvilInATeddyBear: [[spoiler:The purple puppy seeing that it's World using the puppy as its body.]]
* SceneryPorn: The interior of World is creative and beautiful.
* SlowClap: Not actually a clap, but Mac is the first to accept World's more sincere apology, and then the others follow.
* TakeThat: One of Frankie's replacements is [[Film/MaryPoppins a British nanny with a magic umbrella]]. When she comes to the door singing, Mr. Herriman's response is "You're fired!" and he slams the door in her face.
* TamperingWithFoodAndDrink: The puppy dusts his crumpets with sleeping powder disguised as sugar. [[spoiler: Mac is the only one who avoids this, since he has adverse reactions with sugar.]]
* TrashOfTheTitans: Thanks to Frankie's long absence, Foster's becomes a huge mess. Herriman's firing replacements due to them not living up to his expectations of having everything perfect and his attempts to clean the house himself don't help matters.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: Mr. Herriman, [[SarcasmMode you just]] ''[[SarcasmMode had]]'' [[SarcasmMode to open your mouth and scold World]] just as Frankie calmed him down. [[JerkassHasAPoint Bloo is absolutely right to say you peeved/pissed him off.]]
* WhamShot: When the protagonists meet up with a ranger to cross a rainbow bridge -- who only lets you go if you play back its musical sequence in the right order -- the ranger ''deliberately'' steps on the wrong key.
* WhiteAndGreyMorality: While World is easily the more intense and powerful antagonist the series ever had, he really is just an emotionally hurt imaginary friend who has a lot of anxiety caused by his abandonment issues. Aside from that, he really is not that bad.
* WhiteVoidRoom: What World turns to after his breakdown.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: World. He just wants someone to play with and has severe abandonment issues.
