A [[UsefulNotes/FurryFandom furry webcomic]] drawn and written by {{Avencri}}. It started being published in 2006 on a weekly basis (but the artist has run into some downtime here and there).

The story begins when Ronald receives a journal from his father. It narrates his research about The Eye of Ramalach, an artifact he searched for but was never able to find. This event sets a chain of events that start to change his boring life, for better or for worse.

''The Eye of Ramalach'' can be read on Platform/KemonoCafe [[https://theeye.kemono.cafe/ here]].

----
!!''The Tropes of Ramalach'':

* AmazonChaser: Not by default, but Ron's current love interest Marie is exactly this, with a visibly athletic build, impressive chest, and being a head taller than him.
* AnArmAndALeg: [[spoiler:Subverted. While it looks like Alex will have to have a leg amputated, Jane's intervention makes it unnecessary.]]
* ArtEvolution: The change from page 1 to the current one very noticeable.
* BerserkButton: Never catch up with Pierre unless you want him to go psycho.
* {{BFG}}: Velia had a gun that was as long as her torso.
* BilingualBonus: Mayte speaks Arabic, Pierre speaks French, and Gretta speaks Spanish.
* BloodierAndGorier: The extent of [[spoiler:Alex's injuries after Terato's attack]] are chillingly realistic, especially when compared to the fairly fantastical manner in which most of the other Katbox comics have treated wounds.
* BridgeBunnies: Played with. The ladies giving tours at the museum where Ronald works, are collectively called Booth Babes by the male staff due to their good looks.
* BrokenPedestal: Played for laughs with Alex's view of Ron following his hookup with Marie. While the two racoons are very happy together, Alex thinks that comitting to a stable relationship made Ron painfully boring to hang out with.
* ButToMeItWasTuesday: Marie and Flo quickly get over the previously unknown fact that Ron is a host to Ramalach when circumstances force him to share the secret with them. Flo has a bit of a freakout at first, but Marie is ready to accept it very fast because at this point she's in love with Ron, and firmly believes he's merely sharing his body with Ram without the latter taking it over as the new driver.
* TheCasanova: Ben.
* ChickMagnet: Ron's quite popular amoung his female co-workers at the museum, and while none of them tried to pick him up yet, some clearly think about it.
* {{Cliffhanger}}: Chapter 9 ends with [[spoiler:Alex gravely injured from Terato's NoHoldsBarredBeatdown and whether or not she'll live is up in the air, and Mayte being abducted by the Silent Men for [[KnightTemplar unauthorized magic use]].]]
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: [[spoiler:When Jane asks the team if they have any questions for her, Ben and Alex bombard her with questions about her apparent immortality, the Deivons, the Silent Men and whether or not they'll threaten Mayte again. Mayte's "question", on the other hand?]]
-->[[spoiler:"FEESH! =3"]]
* TheCorrupter: Played for laughs with Miranda, Ben's sister, who is at one point tasked with babysitting Mayte. During their time together not only does she improve Mayte's grammar and vocabulary, but to Ben's horror, also teaches her about "boys stabbing girls".
* DarkerAndEdgier: Notable for having been the darkest Katbox comic until ''Webcomic/DraconiaChronicles'' joined. Even today, most of the Katbox comics are SliceOfLife stories with mild fantasy elements. ''Ramalach'', by contrast, is a full on CosmicHorrorStory full of [[AntiHero flawed protagonists]], heavy topics such as racial and religious intolerance, political corruption, and genocide, the current BigBad is heavily implied to be a WellIntentionedExtremist, and there are multiple scenes of graphic, disturbingly realistic violence.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: While fighting Queen Jane in her pocket dimension, Ron assumed that he was just sucked into a mental projection where his real body couldn't be harmed. Que his surprise when after pulling off a very risky hands-on manouver that gave his avatar multiple stab wounds, his true body suffered the exact same, nearly fatal damage.
* DopeSlap: Ben delivers one of these to Ron off-panel after he completely ignores a girl hitting on him at a night club. Because he was reading. The girl he blew off [[ChekhovsGunman makes another appearance later on]]. The picture can be seen on the author's [[Website/DeviantART dA]] account [[http://avencri.deviantart.com/art/ZAPE-35206013 here]].
* DroppedABridgeOnHim: As Ron found out, Silentmen are very sturdy, but not sturdy enough to survive a giant statue procured from Ramalach's pocket dimension dropped on them.
* DurableDeathtrap: The bad guys work their way around several of these that were kind of cliche.
* EldritchAbomination: The Silentmen, plant-based magical drones created by Queen Jane to detect supernatural beings, including those radiating traces of Deivon energy, i.e. Ron. As the name implies, they are mute, and look like a flower gone really wrong, being both a symbol of Jane's supervision over the city and nighmare fuel for its dwellers. Technically programmed to merely capture their targets alive to bring them before the queen for inspection, they are so ferocious in their pursuit and liberal in deciding how undamaged their prey has to be to meet their objective that Ron thought they'd kill him if they had the chance (instead of just breaking his arm to begin immobilizing him). They also have the ability to transplant the "brain" of a damaged unit with important intel onto another one in better shape, though the one time it is seen the latter has to rip its arm off to create a life-support socket for the said brain.
** Queen Jane turns into one herself when she sets up a magical domain area to contain her more pesky enemies.
* FanDisservice: Queen Jane in her "magical pocket dimension groundskeeper" form is a mix of a sexy naked lady and a monster corpse, with giant, moss-like limbs growing from her back, and bones and inner tissue sticking out at random, making it very hard to focus on the former.
* FriendsWithBenefits: [[spoiler: Ron and Alex. Though later subverted, it turned out that he proposed to her once but she refused, preferring to stay friends with benefits. And he's been carrying a torch for her ever since, sabotaging other potential relationships.]]
* GratuitousFrench: Pierre does this often, but his grammar is off.
* HalloweenCosplay: On October of 2009, all of the Katbox webcomics had a horror movie poster tribute; the ''Eye'' characters were dressed as characters from ''Film/ShaunOfTheDead''.
* HasAType: Ben has a policy to only hit on other avians. When he once tries to pick up a bat, it is only because he's on a ship at the open sea, bored, and with a very limited choice of women among the crew, she was the closest to his tastes. She quickly made sure he knows his advances are not welcomed.
* HopelessSuitor: Mayte is in love with Ben, but her poor language skills, combined with differences between her native and current social norms, as well as her maturity-impending sheltered life, make it very hard for her to properly express it. All of this also results in Ben not treating her as a viable potential romantic interest, interpreting her constant need of his companionship as more of a older brother and lonely younger sister situation, especially as of recent when he's considering hooking up with Fio. When Alex points out this to her, she doesn't take it well.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: To prevent Ron from getting to The Eye frist, Pierre threw both of his shoes at him. It's super effective.
* InformedAbility: One of the major Ron turn-ons for Marianne's best friend is that he is supposedly well-versed in tribal mating rituals and she often fantasizes about putting his knowledge to practical use.
* InsecureLoveInterest: Marianne; her mother is a renowned painter and she hopes to one day follow in her footsteps, but so far isn't convinced she'll ever be even slightly as good as her and is very sensitive to criticism. As a result, she can become very depressed and hostile when exposed to it, something she hates about herself as it easily damages her relationships with people.
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Ben actually cares for Ron, even if at times it is hard to realize it.
* MacGuffin: The Eye of Ramalach.
* MakingASplash: Mayte not only can magically transform between land and water forms at will, but also create water out of thin air and shape it into whatever object she wants, including working bladed weapons.
* MonsterRoommate: Flo and Marianne have Ron, and by extension Ramalach, move in with them after Queen Jane destroyed his entire apartment building while trying to capture the latter. It's unclear whether this is temporary for the duration of the repairs to their original flat, but the group quickly got used to each other's presence, to the point where Flo occasionaly spends time with Ramalach when Ron and Marie want to have some privacy (or as much privacy as the slit in the door big enough for Ram to slip through allows).
* NeatFreak: Ron is allergic to mess and feels compelled to clean it up whenever he sees one. Marianne was quite surprised when after a night with Ron (who couldn't sleep due to what they did) she woke up to see an unusually tidy and sparkling kitchen.
* NotDistractedByTheSexy: Early on Ron is so absorbed by reading his father's journal that he completely fails to notice an attractive woman trying to talk to him at a disco club.
* OhCrap: Ben almost blew his own face when playing with a gun. Also, [[spoiler:when Wallace dies.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: Queen Jane looks like she's in her late twenties, but is in fact over 70 years old; her aging process being halted due the side-effects of the magic she used during the last Deivon crisis. She treats this as a curse, as staying physically attractive and fit is no compensation for watching all of her friends grow old and die and sticking out like a sore thumb wherever she's known.
** Also O'Raelly, but that is due to the artist's lack of skill at the moment.
* PerkyGoth: Alex seems to be one of these.
* PoorCommunicationKills: Played for laughs with Ron and Mari setting Ben up for a date. Ben asks Ron to talk to Mari about hooking him up with her friend Sussan. What the raccoon relays is that he wants to hook up with her friend. Just that. So, Mari's like "Say no more! Leave everything to me!", and let's Ben know where to meet up with her enthusiastic friend... only to send out her ROOMMATE friend Flo to meet up with the bird.
* PrettyBoy: Ben and Ron, though at times the ladies working with the latter ponder if this status is not a result of him simply looking good compared to the the majority of their male colleagues rather then being genuinely handsome on his own.
* ReallyGetsAround:
** Marianne appareantly at one point or another has dated every single member of Flo's brother hockey team before coming together with Ron. And these are only the cases that were actually mentioned so far.
** Alexis mentions she has this tendency and actually likes it; it allows her to have some fun without sacrificing her freedom and career. This is most likely the reason she shot down Ron when he asked her to marry him following their college relationship.
** Ben, big time. The comic explicitly showed that he dated at least twelve women (one of them five times, even) in the past, and these are just the named cases. In the recent pages this came back to bite him in the tail feathers, as seeing Ron and Marie's happiness made him long for it himself, but his so-far inability to committ to a stable romance makes it very hard for him to hook up back with anyone he was seeing before.
* RewardedAsATraitorDeserves: Played with by [[spoiler: Ramalach to O'Raelly. O'Raelly returns a few of Rama's sealed servants expecting him to cure his terminal illness, but because he'd murdered Ron's father and tried to kill Ron and his friends and Rama was betrayed by his own priests Rama didn't trust him. So he refused to cure him, and didn't kill him then and there as a "reward".]]
* ShapeShifting: Mayte can switch from humanoid girl, to giant dragon and to something in the middle of both.
* ShoutOut: The author likes to drop one of these in every once in a while.
** Pierre has been shown to emulate Raphael from ''VideoGame/SoulSeries''.
** [[http://theeye.katbox.net/comic/ben-the-meatshield/ This page]] contains a shout to fellow Katbox webcomic, ''Webcomic/UberQuest'' and its [=RPG-ish=] feel.
* SlasherSmile: Pierre got one of these when things didn't go as his plan.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: Mayte's first outfit is very revealing, and she actualy got fined for indecent exposure by the authorities of the conservative Firesands.
* TheGunslinger: Velia (being a wasp) wields 4 guns at the same time with good accuracy.
* ThirdEye: Ron gains one on his forehead after Ramalach bonds to him, and while it can open and close and move like an ordinary eye, it's main function is to act as a bridge between the world and the pocket dimension in which Ramalach's essence is still trapped. Notheless, Ramalach can observe the events around Ron through it, communicate with others and even materialize his upper body and whatever is stored in the dimension through it to interact with the outside world. Thankfully for Ron, it's easy to hide from those not attuned to magic, as when closed, it resembles a line-thin horizontal scar. With all of its unusual abilities, it is also unclear whether the eye is physically embedded into Ron's skull or just magically manifesting there as some kind of tactile projection.
* TheNeedsOfTheMany: Queen Jane make really like Ron, but the fact he's hosting a Deivon, an entity with really, really bad reputation and past record, means that she will do whatever it takes to get rid of it and protect her people from the danger it poses, even if it might ruin or end Ron's life in the process. [[spoiler: Or so she thought.]]
* TookALevelInJerkass: Gretta is stuck to the ground by Mayte's spit and unable to defend herself, so she calls out to Pierre to help her. He runs right past her and tells her to "get yourself out" because getting to The Eye before Ron is obviously more important than his own teammate's life.
* TookALevelInKindness:
** [[spoiler: Ramalach. Reunited with his servants for the first time in ages, his first action is... to set them free and tell them to integrate with the modern world, after realizing that, at this point, he has literally no chance of success in achieving any of his previous goals.]]
** [[spoiler: Upon seeing for himself that the Son of the Void, his former master, is dead, Ramalach decides on a new purpose in life. That purpose is making sure that both he and Ronald get a chance to live a normal life.]]
* {{Yandere}}: The sweet if not slightly air-headed Mayte reveals possessing such side when Alex tells her that Ben, the water dragon's object of affection, doesn't see her the same way and is slowly developing a relationship with Fio instead. Mayte's reaction to this news is to summon a pair of massive water swords and march towards Fio's location, with the intention of eliminating her romantic competitor the old-fashioned way. Slightly played for laughs in that all it takes to post-pone Mayte's rampage to a later time is giving her tasty food, at least for now.
* WallOfText: Several of the earlier pages did it.
* WorldOfBuxom: It's hard to find a female character that is not well-endowed in this story, but unless you're Ben, no one really makes anything out of it and not much fanservice focus is put on it.
