''[[http://www.jaynaylor.com/originallife/ Original Life]]'' [[labelnote:Caution]]Link is [=NSFW=] and leads to Jay Naylor's Patreon page; currently both Better Days and Original Life are behind a paywall. [[/labelnote]]is a comedy webcomic written by Creator/JayNaylor. The strip began on June 1, 2009, right after Naylor finished up its predecessor, ''Webcomic/BetterDays''. It details the life and times of Fisk and Elizabeth and their children - Abigail, Thomas and Janie - as well as the lives of other ''Better Days'' cast members and their children.

Unlike ''Better Days'', ''Original Life'' features a lighter and more humorous plot, with minor segments of dramatic moments interspersed throughout. Also, rather than following Fisk and Lucy as they progress through life as in ''Better Days'', the characters of ''Original Life'' do not age; the comic is also set in the 21st century present, as opposed to the 80s-90s timespan of ''Better Days''. These changes are mainly due to Naylor opting to ‘just keep it fun’, stating that he enjoyed the lighter chapters of ''Better Days'' far more than the somber ones.

Sadly the series was discontinued in 2016 cited by the author as a lack of inspiration in further stories for the series. An new spin-off starting in 2018 began with the author releasing them on newly created a Patreon page as well as on [[https://jrn-arts.tumblr.com/page/5 Tumblr]]. Titled ''Original Life +5'', the series [[TimeSkip jumps forward five years into the future]] centering on the same cast older, but not much wiser...

!!This webcomic provides examples of:

* AbortedArc: The love letter. Maybe. Just when you least expect it, it pops up again.
* AddictionDisplacement: Stacy switches from [[MustHaveNicotine cigarettes]] to bacon, and then to porn and blogging on Website/{{Tumblr}}.
* AdultsAreUseless: Played mostly straight. The kids get up to some crazy stuff and adults rarely intervene even when it escalates into violence, such as during the [[SeriousBusiness Muffin Arc]].
* AllMenArePerverts: Male sexuality is mused on by some male characters.
** Fisk occasionally comments on its strength.
** Tommy [[LittleKnownFacts explains to Lucy]] how ‘ass men’ [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2011/07/222.html achieved]] [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2011/07/223.html great]] [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2011/07/224.html things]] throughout history specifically because of their preference.
** [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/09/450.html Angelica’s father]] also comments on the deep effect his desire for his wife has on him, believing his wife’s self-grooming effort to be the result of societal pressure rather than her desiring him back.
* AmbiguouslyBi: Mary, Audrey's girlfriend. While she seems like a typical ButchLesbian at first glance and is definitely attracted to others of the female gender, she also dates a pre-op trans woman and it's suggested that she might be attracted to Aron (though, admittedly, [[DudeLooksLikeALady Aron]]'s effeminate-looking enough to be a very convincing crossdresser).
* AnthropomorphicVice: While trying to kick her smoking habit, Stacy has a hallucination of a talking cigarette.
* ApocalypseHow: [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/03/394.html Abigail is increasingly worried]] with the ultimate demise of the universe.
* AscendedMeme: [[http://www.jaynaylor.com/originallife/comic/OL125.10-08-09.jpg Maybe.]] Could be nothing more than a coincidence, though.
* AskAStupidQuestion: [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/01/379.html A boy approaches Janie]] as she stands near the pool to make a pass at her.
-->'''Boy:''' Hey Janie, ah... so, you really like swimming?
-->'''Janie:''' Darn. I was hoping no one would notice.
* AssholeVictim:
** [[spoiler:[[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/04/406.html Red’s father]], a [[SmallTownTyrant corrupt Alabama sheriff]], who [[ParentalIncest raped her repeatedly]] after her mother passed away. When Red [[SelfMadeOrphan killed him]] [[TheDogBitesBack for it]], his [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/05/410.html abundance of enemies]] made it easier for her to [[KarmaHoudini get away with it]].]]
** [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/05/415.html Fisk explains to Red]] to remind herself that the people they kill on the job are this--unlike enemy soldiers, who were probably [[JustFollowingOrders forced into fighting against their will]], their victims made a conscious choice to use violence to get ahead. [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/05/416.html She’s still unconvinced]], wondering if the same circumstances that moved them to do what they did could have moved her to do the same if she were in their place.
* AttractiveBentGender: Charlie, being a child, is not attractive per se, but she makes a [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/02/384.html very cute boy]]. Too bad she wants to be a boy to [[spoiler:kiss [[IncompatibleOrientation Janie]]]].
* BatmanGambit: [[spoiler:Brice asks his wife [[MrsRobinson Sissy]], who is incredibly unfaithful, for [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/05/522.html an open marriage]]. She assumes it’s because [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/06/524.html he already has someone else he can sleep with]], and is [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/05/522.html more attracted to him than ever]] [[ILoveYouBecauseICantControlYou because of that]]. He actually [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/06/529.html doesn’t have anyone]]--[[OperationJealousy he’s been trying to tease her back and regain her interest]].]]
* BetterAsFriends:
** [[spoiler:[[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/02/387.html Charlie and Janie]]]]. [[spoiler:Janie]] explains to [[spoiler:Charlie]] that she [[IncompatibleOrientation wants boys for relationships]], and using her to fill in that spot until one came along would be unfair, and [[IDontWantToRuinOurFriendship ‘that’s not what friends do’]].
** Stacy tells her friend, who just broke up with her boyfriend Brad, that [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/02/389.html trying this won’t work]], as it would only serve to remind him of everything that was a disappointment in their relationship.
* TheBGrade: [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/10/458.html Miko is aghast]] at her B grade in history. Thomas says he got the same grade, and it’s his highest; Miko tells him his parents already expect little of him.
* TheBigDamnKiss: Charlie finally gets up the courage to shove two other boys aside, march right up to Janie, and give her a nice deep snog.
* BilingualBonus: The news piece covering Abigail’s [[FantasticDrug fitness drug]] includes commentary by [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2012/11/359.html Dr. Schvantzen, MD]]. His last name is ([[GratuitousGerman broken, misspelt]][[note]]The correct form would be ''Schwänze''.[[/note]]) German for ‘dicks’.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Sammy Thompson and the Kid-opolis in Thomas’ dream operate by ‘kid rules’, which means adult-created video games are banned, and possession over an item is determined entirely by ‘calling’ it.
* BriefAccentImitation: Fisk [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2016/01/575.html imitates]] Creator/LiamNeeson’s UsefulNotes/{{British accent|s}} [[ShoutOut referencing]] ''Film/{{Taken}}''.
* BrickJoke: Abigail’s [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2010/06/113.html bedtime]] [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2011/09/243.html stories]].
* BrutalHonesty: A boy who wants to date Stacy explains to her in detail how pornography ruined his concept of what women should look like and what that means for his expectations of her. [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2012/04/297.html She is not pleased.]]
* BullyHunter: Angelica convinces the Justice Defender to become closer to this rather than protect only Jeffrey.
* BullyingADragon: A few drug dealers try to scare Stacy and her clients off of their territory. [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2012/11/ol363.html Her clients do not respond as they predicted.]]
* BumblingDad: Abigail [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2012/11/365.html notes]] that her father averts it.
-->'''Stacy:''' You can [[ItMakesSenseInContext elude the government]] but not your dad?
-->'''Abigail:''' He’s not dumb like all the dads on TV!
* ButchLesbian: [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/12/476.html Mary, Audrey’s girlfriend]], who Aron says looks like ‘she could bench press ''jeeps''’. She [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/02/491.html might be bi]], though.
* CallBack:
** [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2010/05/104.html Elizabeth raises an eyebrow]] when Jessica, who got pregnant with her first child in college, says her niece Trixie doesn’t have kids because ‘she’s still in college, after all’.
** [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/05/414.html Red points out]] that Fisk ‘has to deal with the same issues’, referring either to [[spoiler:violently stopping [[KickTheSonOfABitch a]] [[TheDogBitesBack rapist]] at a young age]], [[spoiler:dealing with incest (BrotherSisterIncest in his case, ParentalIncest in hers)]], or both.
** Fisk’s guardian angel [[ItsAWonderfulPlot shows him a world Fisk is absent from]], mentioning [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/03/504.html Elizabeth struggled]] after she caught her husband cheating, and the time [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/04/511.html Fisk prevented his war buddy Carlos]] from [[DrivenToSuicide killing himself]]
* CatapultNightmare: [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2010/08/125.html Thomas wakes up like this]] when he dreams the legendary Sammy Thompson is about to [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice stab him with a spear]].
* TheChessmaster: Angelica uses her writing position in the school paper to manipulate her schoolmates to resolve the muffin crisis in her favour. [[spoiler:Her success is only temporary, as she doesn’t foresee the Ghost coming into play.]]
* ClusterFBomb: [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/10/454.html Angelica’s father]] cursing at [[ItMakesSenseInContext the bear he just stabbed]].
* ComicallyMissingThePoint:
** Charlie talks to Thomas about how awkward she feels wearing a dress instead of trousers, being an avowed {{Tomboy}}. Thomas says, ‘I wish ''I'' didn’t have to wear pants.’
** Elizabeth asks Fisk to ‘[[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/09/551.html say bad things]]’ to her when she’s in the mood. [[ExactWords He]] [[TheGadfly does]].
* CompetitionFreak: Janie, to the point her attitude is entirely reversed [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2010/12/158.html when she discovers it’s competitive]]. Later on, she meets her match in the form of [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/08/540.html Clarice]].
* CompletelyOffTopicReport: One story arc parodying ''Literature/TheMetamorphosis'' turns out to actually be a book report written by Tom. The strip revealing this ends with his teacher telling him he was supposed to do a report on ''Literature/BeholdingBee''.
* CompressedHair:
** Downplayed and lampshaded example with [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2012/07/328.html Beth]].
** Charlie’s [[TomboyishPonytail bangs and ponytail]] [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/01/383.html turn into a mane]] about twice the size of her head when the cap comes off.
* ContemplateOurNavels: Engaged in on occasion, even by young children, about the nature of society, the universe. etc. Lampshaded when Janie and Angelica try to [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/08/442.html engage Trixie in their discussion]] about whether physical proof is needed to prove or disprove the existence of {{God}}, or mere logical philosophical reasoning could do, and she just turns away to talk to Abigail.
* CreatorCareerSelfDeprecation: Fisk is particularly aghast when [[ItsAWonderfulPlot his guardian angel shows him]] that without him, Beth would be a ''[[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/04/508.html webcomic artist]]''.
* DatingWhatDaddyHates: Miko tells Thomas [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/11/470.html this is what makes him so attractive to her.]]
-->'''Thomas:''' Girls are weird.
* DaydreamSurprise: Thomas [[ImagineSpot daydreams]] he’s a CowboyCop yelling back at DaChief that if the mayor doesn’t like his unorthodox methods getting results, ‘You can tell her to go to [[PrecisionFStrike hell]]!’ He yells that last part in the middle of class, and, after a moment of awkward silence, gets [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/10/457.html sent to the principal’s office]]. (LikeFatherLikeSon, [[http://jaynaylor.com/betterdays/archives/2003/07/post-28.html apparently]].)
* DeepImmersionGaming:
** Thomas plays ''VideoGame/GearsOfWar'' in one of the first comics... with the badass protagonist coincidentally drawn like his father.
** Semi-justified with ''Franchise/MassEffect'', as Shepard’s appearance is customizable.
* DestinationDefenestration: [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2012/11/360.html The DEA agent]] who says the problem with the ‘[[FantasticDrug Ferrigno Fluid]]’ is not with the drug itself, but with taxpayers having to pick up the tab for others’ mistake of using it.
* DirtyCop: [[spoiler:Red's father was a crooked sheriff who [[ParentalIncest raped her]].]]
* DisappearedDad: Fisk, in part, since his job keeps him on the road. It’s been argued that he just drops by occasionally to enjoy the parts of fatherhood he likes, while skipping out on most of that messy parenting stuff.
* DisguisedInDrag: Aron needs to go through this to sneak into an event [[LadyLand strictly for women]], to find a girl who was into him but in a relationship with another woman.
* DistractedByTheSexy: Thomas gets distracted in the middle of a football game when [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2009/12/056.html Miko waves at him]].
* TheDogBitesBack:
** Darren Blalock [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2009/06/003.html beats Thomas up and takes his PSP]]. Thomas trains and [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2009/07/013.html hits back]].
** [[spoiler:[[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/04/406.html Red’s father]], a [[SmallTownTyrant corrupt Alabama sheriff]], [[ParentalIncest raped her repeatedly]] after her mother passed away. Red [[SelfMadeOrphan killed him]] [[TheDogBitesBack for it]].]]
* DontThinkFeel: [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2011/05/209.html Angelica tells Janie and Charlie]] that most people’s belief in this makes them [[ManipulativeBastard easier to manipulate]].
* EducationMama: [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/10/459.html Miko’s mother.]]
* EekAMouse: Janie is [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/09/445.html afraid of bugs]].
* {{Fainting}}: Abby’s reaction to seeing [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2009/11/045.html the baby tooth she lost]].
* FantasticDrug:
** Abby’s ‘Ferrigno Fluid’, which turns fat into muscle and reduces intelligence and sexual inhibition.
** Turns out she has [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/11/467.html entire shelves]] of ‘chemical solutions to life’s problems’, among them a LovePotion.
* ForcedKiss: One of the boys Angelica wants to pay to [[ItMakesSenseInContext kiss Janie]] tries to kiss her by surprise. [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/01/380.html He fails, and she doesn’t take it well.]] [[spoiler:Ultimately, [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/02/385.html Charlie does it instead]].]]
* {{Foreshadowing}}: The meaningful looks [[spoiler:Charlie]] gives [[spoiler:Janie]] and some of her dialogue strongly imply [[spoiler:she was the one who wrote her the LoveLetter]]. Made more obvious after Abigail lets it slip that [[spoiler:[[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2011/09/244.html the writer is female]]]] and [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2011/10/246.html the dialogue]] between [[spoiler:Charlie]] and [[spoiler:Janie]] afterwards.
* FreeRangeChildren: Elizabeth tells Trixie [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/08/440.html Thomas is basically this]].
* FreudianExcuse: Red cites [[spoiler:[[ParentalIncest her father]] [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/04/406.html repeatedly raping her]] and ultimately [[TheDogBitesBack killing him for it]]]] as the reason she [[IAmAMonster became a monster]].
* FridgeHorror: InUniverse, [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/04/403.html Abigail ponders]] about the implications of Tinkerbell’s and fairies’ existence in ''Theatre/{{Peter Pan|1904}}'' [[ClapYourHandsIfYouBelieve depending on others’ belief in them]].
-->'''Fisk:''' (''To Elizabeth'') Why’d you take her to that stupid play...
* FoulFirstDrink: A downplayed example: Fisk and Elizabeth's {{bokukko}} daughter Janie challenges Tommy and Lucy's son Leo to a beach volleyball match. After hours of intense play, Janie ekes out a win. At the extended family barbecue, Tommy offers Leo a bottle of beer for being a good sport. To everyone's surprise, Leo guzzles the stuff with ease. Lucy is aghast, and Tommy can only sputter, "I thought he'd hate it." Leo regards the bottle with the commentary, "I can see how this would be an acquired taste."
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: Leo getting [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/09comic-401-450/ pinched by a crab]] while his parents chat casually.
* GamerChick: Janie, who seems to prefer Western RPG games.
* {{Gaydar}}: [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2011/09/239.html Abigail builds a device]] calculating a given person’s probability to be gay, without being aware of the concept. When Janie asks if that’s what it is, she says it could be a good name for it.
* GeekPhysiques: [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2016/01/577.html Averted]].
-->'''Fisk:''' Geeks are a ''lot'' different today than when we were young.
* GenreSavvy:
** Fisk and Elizabeth know when Angelica’s parents (with whom they are away at a couples retreat) are going to put them through [[RightThroughTheWall a long, loud night]], and decide they should [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/10/455.html get a room that doesn’t share a wall with theirs]].
** Charlie knows ''[[ParentalSexualitySquick exactly]]'' why [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/07/534.html her parents are acting differently]].
* {{GIRL}}: Amanda ''[[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/09/553.html relishes]]'' this behaviour.
* GirlsHaveCooties: [[http://www.jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2009/11/052.html This storyline]].
* GirlOnGirlIsHot: Which seems to [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2012/08/340.html pose a certain problem for Aron]].
* GladToBeAliveSex: After [[ItsAWonderfulPlot his guardian angel Steve shows him life without him]]:
-->'''Steve:''' [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/04/513.html He’s been thanking his wife. All morning.]]
* GuysAreSlobs: Fisk and cooking [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/05/418.html do not mix]].
* HaveIMentionedIAmHeterosexualToday: A subtle example--[[spoiler:Charlie says Creator/JustinBieber ‘[[DudeLooksLikeALady looks like a girl]]’ and [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2010/08/129.html wonders why girls like him]], despite liking girls herself]].
* HehHehYouSaidX: [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2011/07/224.html Tommy asserts]] that ‘every man who walked on the moon was a [[LittleKnownFacts well known and documented]] [[AllMenArePerverts ass-man]]’.
-->'''Astronaut:''' Haha! ‘Moon.’
* HeManWomanHater:
** Janie encounters [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2010/11/153.html a particularly stupid one]] in ''New Vegas''.
** [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2012/12/373.html Charlie recalls]] how a boy she knew as a kid had that attitude, refusing to play with girls. She beat him and kissed him in front of his friend to embarrass him further.
* HereWeGoAgain: Amanda goes to great lengths (including taking some death threats) helping Stacy kick her [[MustHaveNicotine smoking habit]]. Amanda ultimately [[AddictionDisplacement replaces]] this addiction for an intense love of bacon, but when she [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2012/05/307.html notices the ill effects]] and asks Amanda to help her quit ''again''.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard:
** Angelica’s writings about the evils of commercialism and fat kids like Jeffrey as an example for the evils of excess [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2011/01/171.html make Jeffrey refuse to sell her his muffins]], and the leader of a group of school [[TheBully bullies]] points out that the Justice Defender was [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2011/01/174.html inspired by her writings against bullying]].
** On a much darker note, [[spoiler:[[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/04/406.html Red’s father]] was a corrupt sheriff in Alabama, allowing him to get away with [[ParentalIncest raping his daughter]]. When she [[TheDogBitesBack killed]] [[SelfMadeOrphan him]] for it, [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/05/410.html the abundance of enemies he’d made]] made it easier for her to [[KarmaHoudini get away with it]].]]
* HypocriticalHumor: Janie and Thomas [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2016/01/574.html have the same reaction]] to each other’s costume for the convention they’re going to.
-->'''Janie & Thomas:''' Hey! I’m not going to the con with you if you’re going to dress like a ''dork''!
* IAmAMonster: [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/04/405.html Red thinks so]], having no qualms about killing others.
* IAmTheTrope: When [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2012/10/355.html Alice warns Abigail]] that selling her [[FantasticDrug fitness drug]] illegally could be dangerous:
-->'''Abigail:''' Screw them. I ''am'' [[BadassBoast the danger.]]
* IDontWantToRuinOurFriendship[=/=]IncompatibleOrientation: Why [[spoiler:[[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/02/387.html Charlie and Janie]]]] can’t be together.
* ILoveYouBecauseICantControlYou: [[MrsRobinson Sissy Swanson]] cheats on her husband constantly, but when [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/05/522.html he asks her for an open marriage]], she thinks he’s lost interest in her and is [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/06/523.html more attracted to him than ever]].
* ImaginaryEnemy: When she tries to kick the habit, Stacy’s addiction to nicotine briefly manifests as a giant, talking, ''smoking'' cigarette trying to coerce her into relapsing.
* INeedAFreakingDrink:
** Fisk’s reaction when Elizabeth confesses [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2009/08/020.html she hasn’t told her parents they’re atheists]].
** He’s sitting and drinking with a friend anyway, but it seems that Thomas trying to dig a pool in the backyard and getting into trouble [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2010/08/131.html accentuates his need for alcohol]].
* InsaneTrollLogic: Angelica asserts that ‘[[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2010/10/141.html pretty people don’t need glasses]]’, although she’s borderline BlindWithoutEm.
* InsignificantLittleBluePlanet: Janie and Abigail [[DiscussedTrope discuss]] this notion. Abigail explains why she [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2013/02/391.html doesn’t really care]].
* InVinoVeritas: Trixie [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/01/481.html almost lets it slip]] that Aron is DisguisedInDrag when [[ItMakesSenseInContext they’re in an event]] [[LadyLand exclusively for women]].
* IResembleThatRemark: Angelica tells Janie boys might not be into her because [[NoGuyWantsAnAmazon she intimidates them]]. Janie responds by [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2012/12/371.html practically threatening her with violence]].
* ItsAWonderfulPlot: Fisk is visited by an angel with this in mind. Problem is, he sneaks up on him in his sleep and gets [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/03/501.html smacked in the throat]] for it, and it only goes downhill from there--he comes to show Fisk how bad life would have been without him even though Fisk was never suicidal, so all it does is make him very angry. Eventually, they find a way to [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/04/512.html make it come across as an important experience for Fisk]], his angel gets his wings, and Fisk becomes [[http://jaynaylor.com/originallife/archives/2014/04/513.html extra grateful for his life]].
* JewishAndNerdy: Continuing from ''Better Days'', [[FantasyCounterpartCulture Jews are portrayed as mice]].[[note]]Then again, while according to Jewish tradition all three Black children are considered Jewish, since their mother is, Janie and Thomas are cats.[[/note]] While this is likely accidental, Abigail is the only mouse among the Black children, and the only one who is academically oriented.
* KarmaHoudini:
