Follow the comedic misadventures of Larry Pye, Edison Lighthouse, and Stephanie Rossum, as they try to make a LoveTriangle work. ''Groovy, Kinda'' is unique in that the leads are predominantly in their late 30s to early 40s.

10	* TheAlcoholic: Edison Lighthouse and Phyllis rarely appear without a drink in hand. While each is old enough to be a LadyDrunk, Edison's too much the homebody to be HardDrinkingPartyGirl. Phyllis Sampson,on the other hand, fits the trope nicely and is almost never seen not falling down drunk, except in a flashback adventuring with Larry. A close friend of Edison's, especially in rehab (it didn't take for either of them), she dies just before returning to rehab with Edison.

12	** Edison wants Larry, Stephanie, and Anya, in that order. She formed a relationship with Larry, then frolicked with Anya the night Phyllis died, then sometime later with Stephanie, who was under the influence of Edison's hangy down thingy, and then, after a night of Trolls and Treasures (or something similar) frolicked with both Stephanie and Larry to the delight of all.
13	** Anya wanted Larry until she kissed Edison while under the influence of clowns, whereupon she decided that she wanted them both, which almost happened, but was called on account of[[http://groovykinda.org/comic/cheesecaked/ passed out Edison]], then took up with underaged Jacob after he rescued her from Eleanor's clutches, but now is again trying to frolic with Larry, since Edison is out of town, which almost seems expected by Larry's absent girlfriend, but the strictures to said frolicking seem quite stringent.
14	** Stephanie loves Larry, but she couldn't become aroused unless she was next to Edison's navel hangy thingy, which finally happened, making her the happiest robot in Innsmount, and not at all sanguine about who might know. The hangy down thingy, a lost piece of Steffie, is no longer necessary, allowing her to frolic with Larry as desired.
15	** And then there's Eleanor, with her under-aged, twin playthings (Jacob, now with Anya, and Esther, both of whom are on their way to a semester abroad in Chuckleslovakia), her former playthings (Amy and Anya), plus her once boyfriend, Nelson who is now with Reade. She seems to consider Larry to good for her, and so leaves him alone

Larry mentions how he and Phyl Sampson investigated the Plateau that Time Misplaced (with dinosaurs), The Underwater Aliens, and helped build The Great Saharan Monorail. Also there may be a Venusian Cat Girl running loose.
38	* MysteriousPast: Edison Lighthouse, as Rosemary Pipkin, lived with her husband and teenage son in a Riverdale like suburb. Now she's a presumably single, alcoholic artist living in an apartment in Innesmount. Also, Larry Pye used to date The Famous Supermodel Victoria, Eleanor's sister, until Eleanor pushed her through the Discombobulationotron into another reality. Where, it is speculated, she became a vampire. Nobody really knows.

44	* StacysMom: As revealed in flashbacks and dreams, Edison Lighthouse used to wear sexy outfits, as a ploy to get more of her teenaged son's friends to come over and play with him. Fortifying herself with ''Dutch Courage,'' this rapidly descended into heavy drinking.
45	* ThreeWaySex: [[spoiler: Not actually shown, but more than implied between Edison, Larry and Stephanie, especially after Ms. Rossum loses her...seal of innocence or whatever robots call it. Seems to be a menáge a trois in it's pure sense in that it's a true household of three: they all live in Larry's house, they all do things outside the house as three or in pairs, the women have "frolicked" with each other, and have "frolicked" with Larry both together and individually as circumstances dictate. Possibly to become a quatre with Edison's qualified approval pending what Anya can manage for the inviolable Kittens and Catacombs game night. See {{All Women Are Lustful}} above for explanation. Of course it was after a previous such game night that the initial "frolicking" as a trio occurred, so all is not lost.]]
46	* {{UST}}: Anya and Larry. Almost from the strip's beginning. She wants to frolic, to the point of approaching him in the middle of his first date with Edison. He seems to be willing, but only with Edison's permission, to which she gave highly qualified approval just before leaving town to sign her divorce papers from Philo. The terms of said approval seem almost impossible to meet.
47	* WebcomicTime: ''Webcomic/GroovyKinda'' starts on a Friday night, and, after 400+ strips, has covered just over two weeks. Larry's slept with Edison, Edison's slept with Anya, Stephanie took a ride in an airship, learned to smoke, and got a library card. And a character died.
48	* WhatDidYouExpectWhenYouNamedIt: Averted. One would expect the Hindenburger, a restaurant/zeppelin, to be a disaster waiting to happen, but it doesn't blow up. Larry and Edison's relationship almost crashes and burns, though.
