A young woman (later) named Willow awakens to find herself on a mystical world with [[LaserGuidedAmnesia no memories]] of her former life. She soon discovers that not only are the residents of this world fantastical creatures of ancient lore, but the planet itself is alive and conscious... and in grave danger! Caught in the middle of a terrible struggle, Willow must come to terms with a harsh reality not of her own choosing.

----
!! ''Earthsong'' contains examples of:

* ActionGirl: All the women in the story to some capacity, minus Earthsong and Willow, due to the story taking place in a time of war. Fighting in the war is essentially the choice that all the soulstone children face upon their arrival to Earthsong - if they don't wish to, they are sent home with no questions asked.
* ActionDressRip: Played with at the ball. When Beluosus attacks, Nanashi rips off her skirt... to show trousers underneath. She stipulated them in the design just in case.
* AlienBlood:
** The different races tend to have blood colors that compliment or match their skintone. Zaebos' blood is black, for example, K'Thonya's is dark green, etc.
** Nanashi's blood is revealed [[spoiler:to be rainbow-colored thanks to the Siderean element]].
* AllMythsAreTrue: Actually attempts to justify the existence of all myths in the first place. After a resident of Earthsong is sent back home, they receive an imperfect mindwipe of all the time they spent there. It works well enough, but they tend to still see flashes of memories, maybe not often or vivid enough to think that they actually saw these creatures, but enough that they can translate the images and basic traits into stories, passed down through the ages.
* AllPlanetsAreEarthlike: Strictly, the other way around. We never see aliens from non-Earthlike planets because planets have to make themselves Earthlike should they wish to support life. And Gaia, one of the three Alpha Planets, is Earth.
* AllYourColorsCombined: Siderean power is a white glow but with numerous colors around the edges, since it comes from multiple stars of different colors. Nanashi's soulstone is white for this reason (originally, of course, it was green for Earth). [[spoiler:Their Eve also has this coloration--all white, except for the colorful edges.]]
* AllYourPowersCombined:
** Nanashi, having channeled the power of the Sidera/stars, can use a number of species' Soulstone abilities.
** This is also the reason that [[spoiler:Beluosus wanted to deal with the soulstone problem--by gathering all planetary elements, he hoped to become a star.]]
* AndIMustScream: The human that works with Beluosus uses his telepathic ability to line up Earthsong's fighters to allow Beluosus to rip their soulstones out of his chest.
* AmazonBrigade: Haven's Guard, with the exception of Zaebos (and technically the numerous species that have only one gender, although they all tend to have pretty feminine characteristics). Zaebos theorizes that, due to the link between the power of Soulstones and a planet's Eve, the shards are drawn to women most of the time.
* {{Animesque}}: The initial run of the comic was of the blatantly anime-type art style (angular heads and large eyes) that predominated in the 00's. The ReTool made it less so.
* AntiVillain: Most of the Mandragora, especially Tristram. They are kept against their will and fear for their lives. Beluosus constantly lies to them to ensure their compliance, [[spoiler:and in the end, ''eats'' their Soulstones]].
* ArtEvolution: So much so that Yates eventually went back and redrew the first few chapters entirely.
* TheAtoner:
** Tristram is this by default even when he's on Beluosus's side of the conflict because his remnant is literally of him sucking the life of an innocent victim. There's another layer of this once he joins Haven's Guard.
** [[spoiler:Tengu falls into this once we find out her remnant, which was previously believed to be that of her promotion to general, is actually of her being court martialed and sentenced to death for a crime she doesn't remember. She begs Nanashi to allow her to die on Earthsong's surface as a hero since she has only has another death waiting for her back home]].
* AttackPatternAlpha: Nanashi orders Tengu and K'Thonya into "Impera formation" in the first action sequence.
%%* AxeCrazy: Skogul certainly comes off this way.
%%* BadassBookworm: [[PlayingWithFire Zaebos]].
* BadassNormal: [[EmpoweredBadassNormal Not any more]], but Nanashi started out as this, hitting a god in the head with a stick. She was even able to stop Beluosus from absorbing her Soulstone through sheer willpower.
* BarbieDollAnatomy: The Eve of [[spoiler:the Sidera]] arrives unclothed and drawn in this fashion.
* BeastMan: Most look like variations on humans, but several are humanoid-animal hybrids, including Skogul and [[spoiler:Oliblish's children]].
* BewareTheNiceOnes:
** Willow turns out to have the very power that can destroy Beluosus. [[spoiler:Because she chose it specifically to undo all his plans.]]
** Zaebos lets loose the full extent of his pyromantic ability when Morgan threatens a wounded K'Thonya.
* BigNo: Skogul lets one out when she realizes Nanashi is going to impale Richard.
* BloodFromTheMouth: Skogul [[spoiler:coughs up blood when Beluosus destroys her soulstone]].
* BlowYouAway: Skogul's power is wind manipulation.
* BodyHorror: The poor human enslaved by the Mandragora. His soulstone is ''sticking out of his chest'' because Beluosus has expanded its power.
* BodyToJewel: Soulstones are crystalized parts of sentient planets.
* CanNotSpitItOut: Zaebos, about K'Thonya. He doesn't think it would be right, since her remnant is her first kiss.
* TheChampion: The Sidera appointed Nanashi as guardian and soldier to defend Earthsong when Beluosus first attacked her.
* ChekhovsSkill: Nanashi subtly uses what turns out to be the soulstone power of Gaia's children, humans: [[spoiler:[[http://earthsongsaga.com/vol4/52.php telepathy]] and [[http://earthsongsaga.com/vol3/88.html mind control]]. She considers it cowardly and avoids it, but when Beluosus recruits a human, it's [[http://earthsongsaga.com/vol5/10.php shown]] to be devastatingly powerful.]]
* CreatingLife: Planets create life first by altering their surfaces to something inhabitable for complex, macroscopic organisms and then shaping an "Eve" out of the stuff of their planetary essence. This Eve is sentient from the moment of her creation and assists the planet in creating the rest of its children.
* CostumePorn: After Willow encourages the Spinster to not just make endless duplicate outfits for everyone, everyone starts showing a lot of variation in dress. The change of the seasons prompts it too.
%%* CuteBruiser: Alyss is a villainous example.
%%* CuteLittleFangs: K'Thonya, Felucca, Neuria, Tristram...the list goes on.
* DamselInDistress: Willow. [[spoiler:Understandable, since at the beginning of the story, she's literally a few minutes old.]]
* DancesAndBalls: After TheReveal about Willow, Earthsong decides to host a ball in her honor. As the danger from Beluosus is not improving, there's a lot of debate about whether they should go through with it. Nanashi eventually decides that it's for Earthsong's happiness as well, but Gwendolyn blows up.
* DeadpanSnarker: Tengu.
* DefrostingIceQueen: Nanashi starts out as stern, aloof, and suspicious of Willow. As time goes on, Nanashi starts to soften up and becomes more accepting of "frivolous" things like a varied wardrobe.
* DiesWideOpen: Several instances in the final battle with Beluosus. [[spoiler:Nanashi, the enslaved human, and the Spinster all go out this way--although the Spinster may not have eyelids to close.]]
* DirtyCoward: Many of the characters' interpretation of Tristram - the Mandragora don't trust him because he refuses to actively fight, and Nanashi doesn't trust anyone that used to be a Mandragora. Even the entry that Willow reads of him in the Mangrimoire apparently states outright that he avoids fights and is a coward.
* DisneyDeath: Zigzagged with the breakage of soulstones. They don't die and are sent back home, but sometimes the "extreme emotion" that triggered the soulstone's formation was being about to die ''anyway''.
* DualWielding: Nanashi fights with one sword in each hand.
* ElementalHairComposition: K'thonya's hair is [[http://earthsongsaga.com/vol2/17.html made of metal]] that she can [[PrehensileHair manipulate]] with her ExtraOreDinary powers.
* ElementalPowers: Zaebos, Skogul, Tengu, K'Thonya and Tristram.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Despite what she did to him and his present heartlessness, [[spoiler:Beluosus is still saddened by Quelyn's betrayal and suicide]].
* ExploringTheEvilLair: Subverted. Willow tries to do this, and Tristram doesn't exactly stop her, but does point out that she could easily get lost and starve in the maze of caves that is his hideout, so she decides to stay put for when help arrives.
* ExplosiveLeash: If the Mandragora disobey Beluosus, he sends them a shock of pain through their soulstone and is capable of shattering it outright.
* FateWorseThanDeath:
** It is eventually revealed that Beluosus consumes the soulstones of those who refuse to fight for him (and later on, even his own soldiers) to sustain himself on Earthsong. The process is essentially Beluosus ripping their soulstones from their still living bodies.
** Tristram is outright threatened with the prospect of being sent home -- the practices of his world disgust him and his remnant is entirely about how his world's practices caused him to kill another and go against everything he believes in and fights for.
** [[spoiler:Skogul reveals that Alyss' remnant was of her being beaten to death by people on her planet who owned her as a slave and that Nanashi has just sent her back to that reality.]]
** [[spoiler:Tengu, due to her remnant being of her being court-martialed and sentenced to death - she was going to die either way, but she asks Nanashi to allow her to die on Earthsong's surface, where she is a hero]].
* FirstKiss: K'Thonya's remnant.
* FishOutOfWater: Everyone who arrives on Earthsong in general, Willow, as the point-of-view character, in particular.
* ForTheEvulz: Neuria enjoys being violent and ripping people up, so she's happy to work for someone who allows her to do just that.
* FriendlyNeighborhoodSpider: Spinster is a friendly [[InsectoidAliens humanoid spider]] who works as a tailor and tries to help his clients through their personal issues. If someone attacks his friends, however, he's got some terrifying MonstrousMandibles under his veil and [[BewareTheNiceOnes he knows how to use them]].
* FurAgainstFang: Downplayed, but vampire Tristram does not want anything to do with his werewolf stalker Neuria. Also averts the usual "werewolves are strength, vampires are speed" aspect of this trope, as Neuria is the one with SuperSpeed instead (while Tristram has HealingHands).'
* GameBreakingInjury: After getting stabbed through the heart and only an incomplete healing, [[spoiler:K'Thonya is no longer fighting fit]].
* GeniusLoci: Planets are sentient individuals. Stars, which rule above them, seem to function as a united collective.
%%* GenkiGirl: Felucca.
* GlowingEyes: Whenever a planet's avatar (ie: Earthsong) uses their powers or a given planet's child uses their soulstone power, their eyes are glowing. Nanashi's eyes also glow when she's using the power of the Sidera. [[spoiler: Or in one case, using her native power of telepathy.]]
* GoneHorriblyRight: Beluosus's original plan was to [[spoiler:have his Eve become a stonecrafter so that he could gather all the planets' elements and become a star. Willow did so, but it allowed her to ''un''craft his manifest stone, and also to remove his element from the soulstones of his followers]].
* GorgeousGorgon: Literally. K'Thonya's people inspired the legends of Medusa on Earth due to their prehensile hair, but apart from that (and skintone) they have normal features.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: [[spoiler:Due to being a fairy, Tengu getting hit by an arrow results in her near complete bisection]].
* HandsomeLech: Jormand.
* HealingHands: Tristram. The Soulstone powers of the vampire race drain energy, but it can be reversed to enable this.
* HeelFaceTurn: Not that he was evil so much as resigned to being a self-loathing coward, but [[spoiler:Tristram joins Haven's Guard after Willow removes Beluousus's taint from his soulstone.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Being incapacitated and knowing that she's a core part of Beluosus's plan in some way due to her connection to the Sidera, Nanashi goads Skogul into taking her revenge, resulting in her killing Nanashi.]]
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Beluosus has suffered this twice at the hands of [[spoiler: his Eves; unsurprising, given that the same powers he needs them to use to turn him into a star could also be used to destroy him.]]
* HoldYourHippogriffs: Occasionally, like when Felucca tells Willow not to "sit there like a swarg on a mugluckt."
* HonorBeforeReason: Drives Nanashi's style of fighting as well as her way of life. [[spoiler:This ultimately leads to her downfall in the long run: Her soulstone's ability is telepathy but she refuses to use it actively in a fight because it involves taking away someone's ability to choose. Her lack of use of this power ultimately causes her to fall to another human, whose ability is strengthened due to constant use by Beluosus.]]
* HypnotizeTheCaptive: In the final battle, Willow is mind-controlled [[spoiler:into stabbing Nanashi to slow her down, then to use the throne for Beluosus. It breaks when the human dies.]]
* IdenticalStranger:
** Willow looks like Quelyn, Beluosus' Eve, in all but coloration. [[spoiler:This is because Willow, though technically Earthsong's Eve because she's made of her element, was created and shaped by Beluosus.]]
** At the end of the comic, [[spoiler:the Sidera create their own Eve and base her on Nanashi's form, since they already lived in her blood.]]
* ImAHumanitarian:
** It's implied that Ulkurz eats the bodies of casualties in the fights between Haven's Guard and the Mangragora.
** The Spinster does manage to chomp on Ulkurz... only to spit him out because he tasted disgusting.
* ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice: [[spoiler: The Spinster and Nanashi, resulting in their deaths. Anyone Nanashi stabs with the Sideran swords are as well, but this results in them being sent back to their home world to resume their lives rather than dying.]]
* ImportantHaircut: [[spoiler:Willow shears off much of her hair after choosing her power. It's not very short, but it matches the length of Quelyn, Beluosus's first Eve.]]
* ImprobablyFemaleCast: Zaebos is the only male member of Haven's Guard.
* InLoveWithYourCarnage: Neuria loves that Tristram's ability literally sucks the life out of people (even if there's really no actual carnage involved and Tristram himself is very uncomfortable actually using this power).
* {{Invisibility}}: One of Nanashi's many abilities. She habitually wanders around Haven in this state; Felucca tells Willow you have to get used to it.
* InsultBackfire: Nanashi named Tengu after a type of "[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tengu annoying goblin]]." Tengu decided she liked that.
* IntangibleMan: Ulkurz can phase through objects. Neuria has fun with this by tossing him out into the open to see if it's safe for the rest of them.
* IronicEcho: Beluosus tells Willow to "go and save us all" (from his own self-destructive plan). [[spoiler:The Sidera give her the same instruction after she communes with them.]]
* JerkAss:
** Most of the Mandragoras, so far. Morgan and Ulkurz stand out in particular.
** Nanashi is a heroic version. She dutifully serves Earthsong, but tends to treat people and their feelings with contempt and acts like Willow is a moron for asking questions ''right'' after she woke up. She softens up over time.
** Gwendolyn calls Willow 'as dangerous as a ball of fluff and half as useful' and spends all her time glowering at the landscape from the tower, making no attempt to befriend anyone.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: Morgan, Ulkurz, Tengu, The Spinster, Nanashi, and whoever else Beluosus ate to maintain his existence.]]
* KnightTemplar: Nanashi's top priority is the safety of Earthsong, and she will go to extremes to ensure her safety. [[spoiler: However, she refused to ever use her mind control abilities.]]
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: All newcomers to Earthsong lose every memory except for the moments immediately before they arrive. When they're sent back, they lose everything except for the moments immediately before departure.
* LifeEnergy: Soulstones are the life energy of planets. Tristram also uses biological life energy to heal (or feeds from it).
* LikeASonToMe: Earthsong gave up her chance to create her own children by accepting the soulstone-infected children of other planets. She treats everyone on her surface as her children instead.
* LimitedWardrobe: Apparently, most of the guard have multiple identical sets of clothing. Explained as Nanashi having been generally disapproving of such 'diversions' before Willow helps her start to lighten up. After that, they start being seen in more varied outfits.
* LivingForeverIsAwesome: Being on Earthsong's surface gives a person functional immortality, as they don't age while there. Skogul revels in this--and her reaction is the reason that Haven's Guard keeps this little fact quiet.
* LongingLook: Jormand seems to have a thing for Neuria.
* LockedOutOfTheLoop: Haven's Guard are absolutely stumped as to what species Willow is and what her powers are. Their solution to this is to 'assign' Felucca to Willow to keep her distracted, and then secretly hold meetings behind her back to figure out what she is, if she's a threat, and if she has any use to them, rather than help Willow figure out who she is. Understandably, Willow [[WhatTheHellHero doesn't take it well]] when she finds out.
* MamaBear:
** Earthsong. She considers all the visitors to her surface her children and does not take kindly to their being hurt. [[spoiler:To say nothing of what happens when she realizes that Willow is her ''Eve.'']]
** Skogul is extremely protective of her comrades, particular the child Alyss. She's enraged when Nanashi [[spoiler:says she sent Alyss back where she was supposed to be, because Alyss' remnant is of enslavement and imminent death]], and her desire for vengeance is fueled by all of the Mandragora that Nanashi has sent home over the years.
* MayflyDecemberRomance: An Eve watches over her descendants for however long they live on the planet, making any relationship with an ordinary person this... as Nanashi warns Tristram.
* MeaningfulName:
** Virtually everyone has a meaningful name, based on the namer's (Nanashi, a Japanese meaningful name in itself) assessment of their character or species.
** Beluosus means "full of monsters."
%%* MindOverMatter: Nanashi.
%%* MineralMacGuffin: Soulstones
* MoreThanMindControl: [[spoiler:Gwendolyn falls prey to Beluosus's human's telepathy, not because she lacked the willpower to resist him, but because she was so mentally exhausted from fighting a war that kept her away from the newborn child she remembers from her remnant]].
* MotorMouth: Felucca.
* NeutralNoLonger: The Spinster that makes the clothes for Willow's ball sides himself with Earthsong and the rest of Haven's Guard due to his new attachment to Willow.
* NewFirstComics: The Redux, covering 20 pages.
* NoBiologicalSex: Tengu, along with [[OneGenderRace the rest of her species]].
* NiceGirl: K'Thonya is the most empathetic and understanding person in the Guard.
* NoodleIncident: [[http://www.earthsongsaga.com/vol2/28.html "If such is not the case, I will have no qualms about informing Nanashi just WHO was responsible for the 'noodle incident.'"]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: People don't age on Earthsong, so nearly everyone fits here. The most obvious example is Alyss, who looks about ten.
* OurHumansAreDifferent: The planet is a temporary home to humanoid species from across the galaxy; humans themselves are vanishingly rare and have strong PsychicPowers, including {{Telepathy}} and mind control.
* OurMonstersAreDifferent: Each race is based on some mythical creature, so the list is huge, including dragons, elves, faeries, demons, gorgons, harpies, goblins, giants, all the way up to Hindu gods. (Case in point: Alyss is a prepubescent giant...meaning that she's [[NotGrowingUpSucks stuck]] at [[PintSizedPowerhouse less than half her ten-foot adult height]].)
* OutOfCharacterAlert: Felucca is horrified to hear a flippant remark from [[spoiler:the Eve of the Sidera. It means that she really ''isn't'' Nanashi, and so Nanashi is ''really'' dead, because she'd never joke about herself like that.]]
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: Tristram's species.
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: Neuria's species.
* ParentalFavoritism: [[spoiler:Earthsong to Willow, her Eve and real daughter. Nanashi is quickly being shunted to the side.]]
* PerpetualFrowner: Gwen, whose choice to serve in Haven's Guard means a long separation from her newborn baby.
* PersonalityPowers: In spades.
* PlayingWithFire: Zaebos is a pyromancer and can completely control whatever flame he creates (which is why it's safe for him to use it in his ''library''.)
* PowerCrystal: The soulstones, which are made out of the life essence of a planet. The unfaceted gems worn by members of Haven's Guard and the Mandragora are also homeworld stones which enhance their powers.
* PrehensileHair: K'Thonya, whose race inspired the Medusa myth on Earth.
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: Felucca.
* PunctuatedForEmphasis: "Let. Her. GO!"
* PuppyDogEyes: From a [[http://earthsongsaga.com/vol4/63.php giant humanoid spider]], no less.
* PutOnABus: Any character who is sent back to their lives on their home planet by Earthsong or Nanashi is permanently removed from the story, as they have no way of returning to Earthsong's planet (and they may not even remember their lives there anyway).
* RedemptionRejection: Willow offers [[spoiler:to free the Mandragora from Beluosus's control when she develops her stonecrafting power. All of them, except for Tristram, return to him.]]
* ReTool: As a result of her improved art skills and dissatisfaction with certain aspects of the comic (such as the InfoDump regarding the soulstones), the author went back and redid the early chapters. She also tweaked the characters, making Nanashi and Gwendolyn much harsher.
* RevengeBeforeReason: Skogul has despised Nanashi for years upon years and considers her a murderer for sending people home, where they'll no longer be immortal. She'll even defy Beluosus to try and get her revenge [[spoiler:which Nanashi uses in the climax. When she realizes Beluosus lied about allowing her revenge, Skogul kills Nanashi even though he doesn't brook disobedience, and he immediately destroys her soulstone]].
* SacrificialLamb: Poor, poor Richard. The character, killed off (well, sent home, but near enough) within the first 25 pages, was designed after a co-worker of the creator, who wanted to feature in the comic.
* SacrificialLion: [[spoiler:Tengu, The Spinster, and Nanashi all die (DIE, not sent home) in quick succession to show just how serious it is that Beluosus has a human under his control]].
* ScrewThisImOutOfHere: [[spoiler:Neuria and Jormund ditch Beluosus once they realize he consumed Morgan and Ulkurz to sustain himself.]]
* ShapeshifterBaggage: Where does the rest of Felucca come from when she goes all dragony?
* ShockAndAwe: Tengu.
* ShoutOut: Felucca is based off the characters of ''WesternAnimation/{{Gargoyles}}''.
* ShutUpHannibal: When Skogul rants about how Nanashi is unfairly cutting people off from immortality [[spoiler:particularly people like Alyss]], Nanashi retorts that being enslaved to Beluosus isn't much of a life.
** Subverted in the final act. Nanashi is initially unimpressed with Skogul's rant, but as Skogul explains that many of the people sent back were [[spoiler:about to die before transported to Earthsong]], and correctly points out that Nanashi never gave a second thought to either that possibility or coming up with an alternative. Nanashi is increasingly unable to retort.
* SmackOnTheBack: Felucca gives Willow a "casual" pat that nearly knocks her over.
* {{Stellification}}: Beluosus hopes to {{invoke|dTrope}} this trope and become one of the Sidera by absorbing their artifacts.
* SuicidalCosmicTemperTantrum: [[spoiler: Beluosus's firstborn, Quelyn, threw a planet-sized one when he was rejected from the role of Stonekeeper due to already having created an Eve, making her 'superfluous'.]]
* SuperCostumeClothier: Spinster the tailor, does business with and makes costumes for both sides of the conflict, and and enforces a TruceZone at his shop.
%%* SuperMode: Felucca's power.
* SuperSenses: Gwen's power (specifically, sight).
%%* SuperSpeed: Neuria.
* TalkingIsAFreeAction: Averted when Tengu starts to ask for more aggressive instructions and is promptly grabbed by Richard.
* TakingTheBullet: Felucca's remnant is getting in the way of her uncle and someone's mace. [[spoiler:This causes a lot of worry when Earthsong prepares to send everyone home, but she's optimistic that she'll have enough soulstone power left in the instant she returns to armor up.]]
* TakingYouWithMe: [[spoiler:Beluosus forces Willow to use the throne by threatening to destroy Earthsong's core along with his own, since he's going to die anyway if he doesn't become a star.]]
* TeamShot: We [[http://www.earthsongsaga.com/images/vol3/ch8/35-36.jpg get]] [[http://www.earthsongsaga.com/images/vol3/ch8/37-38.jpg two]].
* {{Telepathy}}: The long-speculated-on [[spoiler:human]] Soulstone power, [[spoiler: recently confirmed]]. Also an ability of Spinster's race, but to a lesser extent.
%%* TheOneGuy: Zaebos.
* TheResenter: Beluosus was real pissed when the Sidera accepted his plan but appointed another to carry it out.
* TimeTravel: So, people are zapped away from their own planets to Earthsong in the present, then they are given the opportunity to stay on Earthsong for hundreds of years without aging, then when/if they decide to go home they get sent back in time to the instant they left, presumably because the Planet/God would get lonely if everyone ran home as soon as possible because their loved ones (who they can't actually remember, they just have to assume that they have some) think that they've vanished off the face of the earth (which would be true in this case, but still...)
* ThatManIsDead: Beluosus's original name was [[spoiler:Daestellen.]] He is not pleased when Willow addresses him with it.
* ThisIsGonnaSuck: Jormand's reaction when he sees Felucca transform.
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: Nanashi hurls one of her swords at Richard to stop him from squashing Tengu. Justified, since she's just demonstrated telekinesis.
* TragicKeepsake: Alyss has a dolly of Richard that Skogul made from his old clothes.
* TranslatorMicrobes: Being on Earthsong allows her to psychically translate all speech into a common language. However, writing remains in the writer's original language, but the TranslatorMicrobes allow it to be read by all as long as someone's there who understands it.
* TrueCompanions: A rare villainous example with the Mandragora. Skogul considers them to be one big family, with herself as the head, and several of them (like Richard and Alyss) do care about each other. That said, it's a pretty dysfunctional group.
* {{Tuckerization}}: See SacrificialLamb.
* VoiceOfTheLegion: The Sidera. The text is overlaid in various colors to depict this.
* VolcanicVeins: Willow gains purple ones when she [[spoiler:develops her stonecrafting power, notably in the "brooch" stone attached to her skin and halfway up her arms when she goes to town on Beluosus.]]
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: Felucca.
* WalkingWasteland: As a result of his shattered and deteriorated condition, Beluosus's core ruins whatever part of Earthsong's surface it's located in. She speculates that the Badlands where he's headquartered will never truly recover from his extended presence.
* WhatTheHellHero: Willow has a moment of righteous calling-out on Haven's Guard for holding secret meetings behind her back where they callously assumed she was either a spy, a possible threat (or was too pathetic to be a threat) or maybe a useful tool for them to use.
* YoureNotMyFather: Willow is outraged when Beluosus calls her "daughter".
