''[[http://www.angryflower.com Bob The Angry Flower]]'' is a surreal webcomic by Stephen Notley, updated every Monday.

The titular Bob is a 5-foot-tall anthropomorphic flower (a "daisy-dandelion-sunflower crossbreed, the kind that walks and talks", according to Notley) who frequently dabbles in mad science, actual science, robots, genocide, traveling through time and space, with a tendency to rant at anyone about anything, or just pull whatever crazy compulsive scheme he can think of. Accompanying Bob is StraightMan Stumpy, a walking, talking stump who often serves as the voice of reason against Bob's insane antics, though is often ignored or even roped into Bob's schemes. Also with them is Freddie the Flying Fetus, a talking, floating fetus whose child-like innocence often gets him into trouble, usually by Bob.

The comics themselves are mostly black-and-white one-shot comics, very few of which have overlapping plots. The humor is very random and chaotic with loads of [[NonSequitur non-sequiturs]], with the punchline often being that [[AntiHumor there is no punchline]].

----
!!This webcomic provides examples of:

%%* AdolfHitlarious: Good Hitler.
%%* AlienAbduction: [[http://angryflower.com/abduct.gif Subverted]]. [[spoiler:They're not aliens, just French people.]]
%%* AnthropomorphicPersonification: Several, not least the empty set.
* {{Anticlimax}}: Many comics involve setting up an [[AwesomeButImpractical extremely over-the-top]] solution to a problem, only for it to be resolved through mundane means at the last moment.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and BreadEggsMilkSquick: Both are shown [[http://www.angryflower.com/266.html here]], where Bob nonchalantly announces he's leaving to buy milk and visit Alpha Centauri, with the narration adding:
--> Such a journey should take about 24,600 years, plus however long it takes to get the milk.
* ArtEvolution: Bob's stress levels reduced as the artist became more comfortable drawing non-angry expressions.
%%* ArtisticLicenseBiology: "Let me explain how DNA works, Bob."
%%* AsideGlance: Stumpy in the early strips, usually to throw in a sarcastic comment about Bob.
%%* TheAtoner: Good Hitler.
%%* BearsAreBadNews: Especially if their natural enemies, robots, are around.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: When Freddie gets angry, he's... efficient. He's the world's youngest ''ex''-Green Beret, at ''negative two months''.
%%* BiggerIsBetter: [[http://www.angryflower.com/chopst.html The Best Ever Chopsticks]] [[DepartmentofRedundancyDepartment Ever]].
%%* BreakingTheFourthWall: Or [[http://www.angryflower.com/cracken06.html obliterating it with a ray gun]].
%%* BrickJoke: Why is Bob launching [[http://www.angryflower.com/1154.html turtle pies]] into space? For a punchline [[http://www.angryflower.com/1158.html a few comics later.]]
%%* ButtMonkey: (Former) U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan.
%%* ComedicSociopathy: Bob's usual mode of interaction with the rest of the world.
%%* ComicallyMissingThePoint: {{Grammar Nazi}}sm for comedy, as the author considers what it would be like to [[LiteralMinded battle Los Angeles]]:
%%--> I was surprised to learn from the opening credits that the name of [[Film/BattleLosAngeles the movie]] was ''Battle Los Angeles''. Not ''Battle: L.A.'' or even ''Battle: Los Angeles'', but just ''Battle Los Angeles''. In a way, just typing it out now, it's brilliant. Because the movie is all about battling Los Angeles.\
\
Not in a good or entertaining way, mind you, just as battling Los Angeles would not be a fun or enjoyable experience. No, Battling Los Angeles would be a lot of running around, taking cover, wondering what the fuck was going on and then eventually getting to shoot at some clunky terminators with blobs for heads. But, after all, isn't that what we should expect from a battle with Los Angeles?
%%* CoolCar: The Car From [[http://www.angryflower.com/705.html H.O.R.S.E.]]
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: {{Defied}} [[http://www.angryflower.com/433.html here]]: a wealthy man in a corporate suit looks into Bob's [[TheMirrorShowsYourTrueSelf Mirror of Truth]], sees himself as a pig, and complains that he is being judged on his wealth alone, with no regards for his friends and family. [[spoiler:Bob admits his mirror just shows everybody as a pig, but now that the guy knows his secret, he has to die.]]
%%** [[http://angryflower.com/evilbu.gif The Evil Business Guy Made of Butter]].
* CouchGag: The title is drawn differently every time. Extreme examples can be like [[http://angryflower.com/boggin.gif this]].
* CrapsackOnlyByComparison: In one comic, Bob dies and goes to heaven; he realizes that everything up there is so awesome that people still living on earth are in agony, relatively speaking. He then jumps down to earth, saying "I've gotta kill everyone!"
%%* CutenessProximity: Bob is susceptible to this, [[http://www.angryflower.com/1150.html to his dismay.]]
%%* CymbalBangingMonkey: In [[http://www.angryflower.com/claptr.gif ''Clap Trap'']], which is one big ShoutOut to a short story by Creator/StephenKing.
* DatingCatwoman: Bob's entire motivation for capturing the [[ClassyCatBurglar Beautiful International Diamond Thief]]. It proves less glamorous than it sounds.
%%* DeadpanSnarker: Stumpy.
%%* DistractedByTheSexy: [[http://www.angryflower.com/329.html Clothes which reflect your thoughts can get you into trouble.]]
%%* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: ''[[http://www.angryflower.com/slappi.gif Slapping The Shit Out Of George W Bush]]''.
%%* EyeScream: But don't worry, the procedure is seventy-eight per cent [[http://angryflower.com/painless.html painless]]!
%%* FantasticRacism: Bears and Robots.
%%* ForScience: Bob's catch-all excuse when he wants to do anything absurd.
%%-->'''Freddy:''' You built a robot programmed to love and then kicked him out? WHY?\
'''Bob:''' Data, mostly.
* FoulFlower: Bob, an anthropomorphic sunflower, is a MadScientist and a HeroicComedicSociopath.
%%* GoodAngelBadAngel: Bob's "good" conscience is the one that's merely antisocial. [[http://angryflower.com/thatin.gif Probably]].
%%* GrammarNazi:
%%** ''[[http://angryflower.com/bobsqu.gif Bob's Quick Guide To The Apostrophe, You Idiots]]''.
%%** [[http://www.angryflower.com/1006.html Bob's reaction to misuse of the word "literally"]].
* GreenThumb: Plantae, a villain with the power to control plants.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Stumpy and Freddie [[http://www.angryflower.com/273.html have their own adventures without Bob]], though usually we don't get to see them.
%%* HeroicComedicSociopath: Bob at his best/worst.
* TheHerosJourney: Because crossing the threshold seems risky, Bob sends a robot, who returns to report [[http://www.angryflower.com/1305.html it has made this journey]].
%%* InterspeciesRomance: Bob is demonstrably fond of human women.
* ItsBeenDone: Bob has an amazing knack for creating weapons that are ages ahead of the time... And then there's the time he invented [[http://www.angryflower.com/195.html bronze]].
%%* JumpingTheShark: In-Universe example. Done literally in [[http://angryflower.com/jumpsh.html this strip]]. Also lampshaded in ''[[http://angryflower.com/phonin.html Phonin' It In]]''.
%%* KillSat: One wonders just how dangerous [[http://angryflower.com/theflo.gif Bob's cakes]] have been in the past.
* KillThePoor: [[https://www.angryflower.com/765.html This strip]] has Bob suggesting this to an incongruously waifish [[GodSaveUsFromTheQueen queen]], who immediately has it implemented.
%%* LogicalFallacies:
%%** [[http://www.angryflower.com/smashi.html Just count the fallacies]]. Sadly as ridiculous as it is, the strip is a political allegory for a very real situation. While it clearly was timed to reference Iraq, the arguments presented apply to a great deal of political debates on numerous subjects.
%%** [[http://www.angryflower.com/murgal.html There is only one conclusion we can draw about this murder.]]
%%** Averted by the mathematical logic gag [[http://www.angryflower.com/emptys.html here]].
%%* LongingForFictionland: Bob resorts to extreme science to become a [[WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls Powerpuff Girl.]]
%%* MadEye: Bob, when crazed. Meaning often.
%%* MadScientist: Bob, more than most.
%%-->'''Bob:''' So once I hit on the idea of working from the base monster template it was a simple process to generate an organism fully capable of fixing my printer.
%%* MoodWhiplash: [[http://angryflower.com/jollys.html Jolly Starfish]].
* MundaneMadeAwesome: Hamsterfall, an in-universe example of a supervillain whose villainy consists entirely of picking up hamsters and then dropping them on the floor.
-->'''Hamsterfall:''' As I will it, ''Hamsters Fall!''
* NegativeContinuity: Bob has repeatedly raised vast evil armies and reduced the earth to ashes, or fed every living thing into the mouths of Lovecraftian horrors, complaining all the while how people just don't have his vision. It never sticks.
* NoNameGiven: Subverted by The Nameless Ones, who openly admit that their name is The Nameless Ones.
* NoPartyLikeADonnerParty: Bob can live on sunlight, which means he can be a massive JerkAss to the [[http://angryflower.com/higher.gif starving survivors of a plane crash]].
%%* NotHyperbole: For example when Bob promises to [[http://angryflower.com/realas.html hand someone his ass]].
%%* ThePowerOfLove: Lovebot runs on this trope.
* RayGun:
** Bob has all sorts, from a peace ray that Time-Grabbed Jesus tries to steal, to a seahorse ray and even an unexplained Donut Ray that appears to be meant to show all his enemies in one go that he could have killed them but chose to give them donuts instead.
** Freddie appears to have a ray gun capable of destroying Plot, when the storyline insists his attempt to save the day will fail.
%%* SeenItAll: Seems to be the case with Stumpy, who is rarely fazed by Bob's science-fiction antics.
%%--> '''Bob:''' Behold! [[http://www.angryflower.com/421.html The ultimate ball of perfect energy!!!]]\
'''Stumpy:''' (Without looking up from his book) [[DullSurprise amazing]].
%%* SeriousBusiness: Beware the [[http://www.angryflower.com/fontpo.html Font Police!]]
* ShapedLikeItself: Bob gives a [[http://www.angryflower.com/hadron.html presentation]] explaining the key subatomic particles involved in the large hadron collider experiment.
-->Quarks: which are quarks. Examples: Quarks.
* ShoutOut: Many, mostly to ScienceFiction series or books.
** One to ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'', [[http://www.angryflower.com/618.html of all things]].
** Many, ''many'' strips involve [[Franchise/DoctorWho Daleks]], such as [[http://www.angryflower.com/945.html this one]].
** [[http://www.angryflower.com/534.html This strip]] has the same premise as Creator/IsaacAsimov's ''Literature/TheMartianWay'', although a vastly different outcome.
** [[http://www.angryflower.com/886.html Here]] Bob fights against [[Literature/{{Protector}} Pak ramscoops]].
** [[http://www.angryflower.com/980.html Here]] to ''Film/TheyLive''.
%%* ShownTheirWork: Several of the more science-intensive strips, such as [[http://www.angryflower.com/kaons.html "Kaons"]].
%%* SophisticatedAsHell: Bob in ''Foment'':
%%-->'''Bob:''' Good your majesty, I wish not to be a dick about this but no fucking way.
* SpaceIsNoisy: Averted. When Lovebot is in space, even the narrator has trouble understanding exactly what's up except that somehow love saves the day.
%%* SpoofAesop: [[http://www.angryflower.com/ifyoul.gif This strip]] currently provides the trope page image.
%%** Also, [[http://www.angryflower.com/454.html not the moral: respect the elderly!]]
%%* {{Supervillain}}: Bob, in his [[http://angryflower.com/peptal.gif more megalomaniacal moods]].
%%* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: [[http://www.angryflower.com/536.html This case]] does not even require a question.
%%--> '''Stumpy:''' Hey Bob!\
'''Bob:''' Whoa whoa whoa -- who said anything about ''genocide''?
* TakeThat: As an online discussion of UsefulNotes/{{Objectivism}} continues, the odds of [[http://www.angryflower.com/atlass.gif this Bob the Angry Flower Strip]] being linked approaches 1:1.[[note]]The author did later admit that cartoon was written at a time he hadn't actually read ''Literature/AtlasShrugged'' and the cartoon is factually inaccurate. Dagny Taggart ''can'' cook for herself, Hank Rearden ''did'' invent the alloys himself, and Francisco d'Anconia ''probably'' [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking shouldn't have been depicted as a blonde]].[[/note]]
%%* TheMirrorShowsYourTrueSelf: Bob's [[http://www.angryflower.com/433.html Mirror of Truth]] shows a wealthy businessman as a pig. [[spoiler:Subverted.]]
%%* ThirdPersonPerson: [[http://angryflower.com/mondob.html Mondobot]]
%%* UnsoundEffect: Apparently being transformed into a circle creates the sound ''[[http://www.angryflower.com/circul.html FZ-IRKL]].''
* UnusualEuphemism: Bob encourages people to say "advanced" when they want to say "retarded".
%%* VisualPun: His name's Typeface. [[http://www.angryflower.com/honbar.gif Well, of course it is]].
* WeaksauceWeakness:
** Bob escapes from Dr. Renticulus using a skeleton's [[http://angryflower.com/comesh.gif fear of raisins]].
** One strip has Bob running a [[http://angryflower.com/freshr.gif hot roasted peanut stand]], and figuring out that his customers are actually {{supervillain}}s who plan on using them to attack Allergy Man in his Anaphylactic Fortress.
** [[http://angryflower.com/featur.gif Insectoid warrior-drones LOVE singing kitties!]]
** Invoked in ''[[http://angryflower.com/achill.gif Achilles' Heel]]'' - but subverted in that, whatever Ultraman's weakness is, Bob's got it embarrassingly wrong.
* WhatKindOfLamePowerIsHeartAnyway: Reference Hamsterfall. There is also Plantae, the villain with plant-controlling superpowers, who ends up broke and jobless because plants can't actually do anything much.
