''Stupid Mario Brothers'' or ''S[=t=]MB'' is a relatively popular Creator/{{Nintendo}} fan series hosted on [[https://www.youtube.com/user/Richalvarez Richalvarez's]] Website/YouTube channel. It is independently made by a group of friends who also made WebVideo/YoutubeNews and ''WebVideo/ArthurVsTheDruidsVsTheGrail''.

The show features a MassiveMultiplayerCrossover of many Nintendo characters such as the titular [[Franchise/SuperMarioBros Mario and Luigi]], as well as a few from from other franchises. It places them in the real world, where they can do anything from playing their own game to saving the entire world.

The show officially ended on June 5, 2012 with episode 75 "The Super Mario Brothers".

It received a sequel with the DarkerAndEdgier ''WebVideo/ThePlumberKnightReturns'' set decades after the events of ''Stupid Mario Bros'', and then on November 20, 2015 another sequel titled ''Stupid Mario World''; this series is closer to the comedic tone of Season 1, and picks up few years after the original series (well before the events of ''The Plumber Knight Returns''). The series concluded with a second movie, ''Stupid Mario Brothers: Legacy'', released in 2017.

Now has a [[Recap/StupidMarioBrothers recap page]] in construction.
----
!!This series provides examples of:
* AccidentalMisnaming: Zubashi's name is mispronounced a lot.
* ActionGirl: Mona and Daisy, even Peach briefly serves this against Nox.
** See DarkActionGirl for Pauline
* AGoodNameForARockBand: X and the Ys version with Johnny Mushroom and the Kingdoms.
** Along with Wario's short lived band Tommy Fungus and the Dungeons.
* AprilFoolsDay: Episode 55 was delayed for two weeks, replaced with a video PSA about smoking [[spoiler: by Snake]].
** The same thing was repeated with Episode 68, only with a skit featuring Julian (Snake) and Austin (Brock) where Julian plays VideoGame/ResidentEvil4. Richard hilariously lampshaded the fact people fell for it the second time around.
* AllJustADream: The beginning of Episode 46.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: In Episode 10:
--> Donkey Kong: Can you guys forgive me?
--> Mario: OF COURSE NOT! Did you think I would just forget about this, Pauline, and the toilet seat!
* ArtifactTitle: The show started off as a nonsensical comedy with [[NoPlotNoProblem no real plot]] and the characters engaging in random slice-of-life activities. Once they decided to add more elaborate story arcs the show became more dramatic and less "stupid".
* AscendedExtra: Walgina gets a bigger role in Season 3.
* AsideGlance: After Link drank bad milk and the others said he won't be in Season Three, Ash says his fans will be pissed, but Mario says they'll get over it. Cue this trope.
** Wario and Waluigi do a few of these in the finale.
* BackForTheFinale: Everyone except Ash, Daisy, Peach, Otacon and a handful of other characters returns for Season 5. [[spoiler:Link in particular makes one last appearance in the final episode]].
* BackFromTheDead: Almost every villain. And it's lampshaded every time. The most notable example so far is a comment made by Snake to Tommy Vercetti in Season 5:
--> '''Snake:''' I'm sick and tired of people coming back from the dead for no reason! This time, I'm gonna kill you, and [[KilledOffForReal you're gonna ''stay'' that way!]]
* BackStab: Practically a theme.
* BadassBiker: Wario's ''VideoGame/WarioWare'' costume. (He still needs a bike though)
* BadassNormal: UPS and arguably Fed Ex. That is, when they don't use slap combat.
* BadassLongcoat: The Darkness sports one of these, as does Liquid Snake and Blaire Vherestorm.
* BerserkButton: If you know what's good for you, never dance in front of the Dance Instructor.
** Be sure to never pitch a video game idea to Bob and Joe. Ash succeeds with his Pokemon idea, however.
*** The Darkness has an unfunny one when Wario tells him he's still in Mario's shadow.
*** Do not insult Music/AceOfBase (the band that sings The Sign) in front of UPS, or ELSE.
* BigBad:
** Season One: Bowser
** Season Two: Nox Decious
** Season Three: Wario
** The Movie Act I: Bowser
** The Movie Act II: The Darkness and [[spoiler:Mr. L]]
** Season Four: a BigBadEnsemble in The Trifecta (a.k.a. Blaire, Ken and Liquid)
** Season Five: Ganondorf's Army AND The Darkness's Army (Well [[spoiler: until the EnemyMine]])
** The series finale [[spoiler:[[RetCon retcons]] Ganondorf into having been this all along.]]
* BigBadEnsemble: Season 4’s Trifecta and Season 5's two main enemies, Ganondorf's Army and The Darkness's Army
* BigDamnHeroes: Peach saves Mario from Wario at the end of Season One.
** DK saves Mona from Pauline in Episode 67.
* BoomHeadshot: [[spoiler:How Snake kills Liquid the second time around and PinkMist comes out.]]
** Repeated in Episode 61 with [[spoiler:Tommy Vercetti. Seriously.]]
* BondOneLiner: [[spoiler: "Goodbye Mr. Vherestorm. It was nice meeting you" After Waluigi kills Blaire Vherestorm.]]
* BoozeBasedBuff: In the finale, when Captain Morgan drinks some rum to fight, it gives him effects like the Invincibility Star.
* BoyBand: Johnny Mushroom and the Kingdoms - they even do music videos from time to time, and are often said to be better than Music/TheJonasBrothers.
* BreadEggsMilkSquick: Blaire's offer for Ken to join the Trifecta was a promise of $10,000 and Chun-Li's head on a stick.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: Happens quite often, the best known example being when [[spoiler:Snake, Otacon, and Ash visited Richard to make him edit their entire trip to Merlin's Table]]. Later, when [[spoiler:the Darkness approaches Luigi and Wario in an attempt to start an alliance, they say he will have to wait a week (the episodes are released once a week), after which the Darkness objects and says he is sick of breaking the fourth wall.]]
** The example that will stay on all fan's minds is [[spoiler: Mario's last words: "Thank you for giving me the best five years of my life."]]
* BreatherEpisode: Episode 45 and Act 1 of TheMovie.
** Most episodes of any season before the season's respective BigBad shows up about halfway or three fourths of the way through.
** All but the final episode of Season 1.
** Episode 71.
* BrickJoke: In "The Interactive Adventure," Luigi ended up [[ShoutOut inheriting a]] [[VideoGame/LuigisMansion mansion]]. In the first episode of Season 4 he sold it for a life supply of USB flash drives [[spoiler:so he could never run out of memory]]. In Episode 53, [[spoiler:Mario returns after he gains his memory back prompting Luigi to suggest a flash drive]].
** At the beginning of Season 4, Snake claims that he saw his brother Liquid (whom he believed to have killed in The Movie) drinking Starbucks. [[spoiler:When it is revealed Liquid is alive we find out Blaire recruited him to the Trifecta by finding him drinking Starbucks.]]
* BrokeEpisode: "The Interactive Adventure." Mario [[ForgotToPayTheBill was too lazy to pay rent]] and the landlord didn't accept gold coins as currency.
* BroughtDownToNormal: Mario, Luigi, Wario, and Ness suffer from this from the end of Operation Blind Storm to the latter half of Season Four as part of The Darkness' EvilPlan.
* BuffySpeak: "I believe it was my foot that had the stepping on!"
** "That was suck!"
* CainAndAbel: Merlin and Nox Decious.
* TheCakeIsALie: Or 'pizza' in this case!
* CallBack: Plenty, the most recent being the first episode of Season 4 (as well as Act I) recreating the opening to Season 1.
* TheCameo: The Random Bum from WebVideo/YoutubeNews pops up as a member of the Mafia in Season Four. [[spoiler:[[DeathByCameo Only to be killed by Max Payne.]]]]
* CatchPhrase:
** Luigi: "What are we going to do now Mario?"
** Ash: "I Gotta Catch 'Em All"
** UPS: "What can brown do for you?"
* CerebusSyndrome: The very first season was largely centered on the Mario Bros. goofing off until Episode 15, after which they became much more serious while alternating between their serious and goofy selves: in Season Four, every character is a clever mix of both their serious and goofy selves, or as Mario puts it in Episode 57, "seriously funny."
* CharacterBlog: Two, by [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55SP0OCH7ZU&feature=channel_page Kamek]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4y7F7j7iK8 Mario]].
* ChekhovsSkill: UPS's first and later appearances show him singing I Saw the Sign. [[spoiler: Luigi eventually hires him to replace Mario as lead singer for JMK in Season 2]]
* TheChosenOne: or perhaps The Chosen Two: Mario and Wario
* ChuckCunninghamSyndrome: Ash, Peach, Daisy, Otacon and several others were forgotten after their appearances in the Move and Operation: Blind Storm. [[spoiler: According to the Subscribe Voice, Ash is living back in Kanto and Episode 75 suggests Peach is back in the Mushroom Kingdom waiting for the Mario Brothers. The rest still don't have an explanation for their absences (Something which the Subscribe Voice lampshaded).]]
* ChristmasSpecial: In which UPS intern Francis makes a mistake, resulting in the Mario Brothers believing that the other brother did not get them a Christmas present.
* TheComicallySerious: Snake. Subverted in The Interactive Adventure when he tries to be funny but fails and is [[AlwaysSomeoneBetter beaten by Wario]]. But, by the end, he gets the Super Mario Bros. laughing with a banana joke--that is, until Wario beats it with [[spoiler:Two Bananas]].
* CompositeCharacter: In-universe example: [[spoiler: Merlin, the Darkness, and Link combine with Mario so he can hold the Master Sword and beat Ganendorf in Episode 75.]]
* ContinuityNod:
** Wario's job at the printer shop reappears in Act I as his Summer Job. This however leaves us to wonder [[WhatHappenedToTheMouse if Waluigi is still employed]].
** VideoGame/LuigisMansion is mentioned in Season 4.
** Season 5 contains a bunch of characters and locations from previous seasons as part of being the last season.
%%* ContinuityCavalcade Season 5 essentially.
%%* CoolSword: The Master Sword of course.
* CoolVersusAwesome: Pirates vs Ninjas. The Age old fight.
* CreditsGag: In the credits of Episode 75, a bunch of lines and ShoutOut's are put out like [[Series/StarTrekTheOriginalSeries "Live Long and Prosper"]], [[Franchise/StarWars "May the Force Be with You"]] and Richard wishes to thank several people for being his inspiration and moral support such as [[Series/{{Dexter}} Dexter Morgan]], [[Series/HowIMetYourMother Barney Stinson]], [[WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes Bugs Bunny]], [[Franchise/TheMuppets Kermit the Frog]], [[Franchise/{{Batman}} Bruce Wayne]], Creator/RidleyScott and plenty more.
* CrossOver: Nox Decious is actually a character from RMA Studios' ''King Arthur'' series. Although, none of the films featuring him have been released. In season 3 we see Merlin, who was also in their [[WebVideo/ArthurVsTheDruidsVsTheGrail King Arthur]] series; then in Act One of the Movie we see their other works, plus one video from a companion channel.
%%* DarkActionGirl: Pauline while working for Ganondorf.
* DarkWorld: [[spoiler:Ganon trapped Link in the Dark Realm. It is also revealed that Ganon plans to merge the dark realm and real world.]]
* DeadSerious: When someone as famous as [[spoiler: Link]] dies, you know things are getting serious.
%%* DeadpanSnarker: Snake
* DeadPersonConversation: [[spoiler: Between [[NotQuiteDead Mar]][[AlmostDeadGuy io]] and [[KilledOffForReal Link]]]].
%%* DeathAsComedy: Pauline
%%* DesignatedGirlFight: Mona vs. Pauline in Episode 64 and again in Episode 67.
* {{Determinator}}: Mario is this so much in Season 5 that it impresses Merlin. It's all {{Justified|Trope}} because of what's at stake.
* DidYouActuallyBelieve: While speaking with the Wario Bros. and their attempt to join him in Episode 26, Nox Decious calls out this trope by name.
** The Narrator addressing the viewers about the fake ending of Season One: "Did you think that was the real ending? You're stupid, you must be one of those stupid people!".
* DiscOneFinalBoss: Bowser serves as this for The Movie and the series as a whole. He was initially the BigBad of Season One when it was initially focused on the Mario Bros but when more Nintendo characters and new, more powerful villains arrived, he was sidelined and DemotedToDragon. He serves as this for The Movie as he is the main villain of Act I before The Darkness reveals itself as the true main villain.
* DismantledMacGuffin: The Nether Emblems: The Shield, the Cross and the Hilt.
* DisneyDeath: [[spoiler: Mario in the Movie]]
* DisproportionateRetribution: Scott Masterson's motivation for [[spoiler: joining Ganondorf's army]] was to get revenge on Donkey Kong for stealing the rights to Johnny Mushroom and the Kingdoms from him:
--> Scott Masterson: Donkey Kong! You stole my band. (laughs) Now you're gonna learn what it's like to lose something you love: your life!
* DoubleVision: used often due to the limited number of actors. The most notable example is probably any scene with Mario and Merlin, which requires a split screen.
* EasingIntoTheAdventure: Happens in the first episodes of seasons two and three, as well as in the first act of TheMovie
* TheEndOfTheBeginning: The season three finale was named this
* [[spoiler: EnemyMine: Mario and The Darkness's armys actually do this (much to everyone's surprise) to take down Ganon.]]
* EnemyWithin: [[spoiler: Mr L...]]
* EnergyBall: Fireballs
* EveryoneJoinTheParty: The [[SeasonFinale Season One finale]] has almost every character from that season.
* EverybodyLaughsEnding: The fake ending of Season One was this
* EvilCounterpart:
** Wario [[spoiler: and the Darkness]] to Mario
** Waluigi to Luigi
** [[spoiler: Liquid]] to Snake
* EvilIsHammy: Most villains, most notably The Darkness.
* [[spoiler: FaceHeelTurn]], [[spoiler: although it's against Luigi's will]]
* EvilSorcerer: Nox Decious.
* FakingTheDead: [[spoiler: Wario]]
* FearfulSymmetry: Just watch Episode 29...
* FightingFromTheInside: [[spoiler: Luigi vs. Decious]]
* {{Fireballs}}: This is a Mario parody so it was pretty obvious.
* FingerPokeOfDoom: Played with in [[spoiler: Episode 67; when Waluigi wakes up from his coma claiming he is still in perfect shape, Wario proves otherwise by simply poking him in the forehead]].
* FlashStep: After Fed Ex insults Ace of Bace, UPS literally defeats him and his group of ninjas in the blink of an eye.
* FloatingHeadSyndrome / EvilOverlooker: visible in [[http://i287.photobucket.com/albums/ll155/mcgamer_01/Comp2_00000_00000-1.png in this poster for The Movie]]
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** In the blooper/ramblings of Episode 31; Chris (the actor of Luigi) said "Well that's the end of Decious...[[spoiler: for now!"]]
** A lot of this was done in Season 3 for TheMovie.
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: Episode 55 and all following episodes are completely based around this... [[RecycledInSpace with NINJAS]].
* FunWithAcronyms: the [[TheMafia Mothers And Fathers Italian Association]]
* FunWithSubtitles:
** All letters from Bowser or any other character come with subtitles, regardless of whether you understand them or not.
** Michael Myers and Jason speak with subtitles in The Interactive Halloween.
* GenerationXerox: A major theme for Episode 75, which focused on the similarities between Mario and Luigi and their ancestors Merlin and Nox. To drive this point home Nox even said [[CatchPhrase "What are we going to do now, Merlin?"]]. Luckily Mario and Luigi's lfe ended better than Merlin and Nox's.
* GoodColorsEvilColors: Mario and Wario's [[LaserBlade Beam Swords]] being originally blue and red made this clear (although they would later get beam swords that have their own color). This is expanded on in Season 3, where it's explained that the cores of Beam Swords actually change color depending on the wielder's morality. If the core is [[LightIsGood white]], then the user is good, but if the core is black, then [[DarkIsEvil the user is evil]]. Nox Decious' personal Beam Sword, the [[RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver Black Widow Blade]], is crafted using [[BlackMage black magic]] and thus has a black core regardless of who wields it.
* GottaCatchEmAll: Ash and Brock's main intention with Pokémon. They're based more on their original characterization in the early episodes of the anime than anything else.
** And collecting the [[DismantledMacGuffin Nether Emblems]].
* GrandFinale: Episode 75 (or its title The Super Mario Brothers) which is the longest episode of the whole show. Most episodes are close to ten minutes. This one is over an hour.
* GreaterScopeVillain: [[spoiler: Nox Decious serves as this for Seasons 1 and 3 as the mastermind behind Bowser and The Darkness; The Darkness serves as this for Season 4 as the true leader of The Trifecta and Ganondorf serves as this for the entire series before stepping up as the BigBad in the final season]]
* HalloweenSpecial: Two in fact, one was a short spin off that didn't present much besides Halloween stories and only had Mario, Ash and Brock in it and the other was The Interactive Halloween (in which [[Franchise/ANightmareOnElmStreet Freddy]] and [[Film/{{Scream}} Ghostface]] try to kill the Mario Brothers.)
* TheHeavy: Wario and Waluigi serve as the main physical threat to the Mario Bros in Season 1 as Bowser is the unseen BigBad.
** Wario serves as this for the first half of the show as the most recurring enemy to Mario. He is CoDragons to Bowser in Season 1, alongside Waluigi; a major, albeit secondary threat in Season 2 and the BigBad in Season 3.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler: Wario]] at the end of Season 3.
** [[spoiler: The Darkness too, as [[HumanityEnsues humanity begins to ensue]]]].
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Every video game character in this.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler: Link gives up his life to add to Mario's power in the finale]].
* HijackedByGanon: [[spoiler:The TropeNamer does this, being behind most if not all the conflict of the series.]]
* HilariousOuttakes: Blame Matt (Wario) for them being so gosh darn funny.
* HongKongDub: Episode 27.
* HollywoodToneDeaf: Walgina, Waluigi's Real World Girlfriend
* HumanityEnsues: [[spoiler:The Darkness]], thanks to having a part of Mario's spirit. Thought through his life deciding that his true purpose was to kill his creator.
* IfYouWontIWill: Subverted when Wario attempts to say this to Mario about [[spoiler: fighting Luigi]], but Mario interrupts, saying, "It has to be me."
* IKnowMortalKombat: In Act 1, Ash got [[spoiler: the Mario Bros. and Peach out of prison]] by playing Ace Attorney for over 100 hours (as he finished playing Pokemon Platinum early).
* IKnowYouAreInThereSomewhereFight: Variant, Mario tries this before his fight with [[spoiler: a {{Brainwashed}} Luigi]]. [[spoiler:It works at the end, though.]]
* ImprobableAimingSkills: The General of the Darkness' army doesn't fight much, but when he does, he has yet to miss with a gun.
* InfinityPlusOneSword: The Nether Saber is described as such by Merlin, being ''the'' most powerful Beam Sword. Whoever wields it is guaranteed to win every fight.
* InterruptedByTheEnd: Episode 13 has this
* InterspeciesRomance: Between Pauline and VideoGame/DonkeyKong, much to Mario's disgust.
* {{Irony}}: Waluigi reveals that he and Walgina broke him because she wanted him to stop wearing purple despite the fact she wears purple herself.
* IronicEcho: "Snap out of this fantasy, and come back to reality."
* ItsAllMyFault: Mario says this during the season 2 premiere. Because the warp pipes are not working, Mario says it's his fault that there are no heroes in their world.
* ItHasBeenAnHonor:
** Luigi says this to Mario in episode 43, when Mario and Luigi discover that they are the only two people that can go up against the BigBad [[spoiler: Wario]], as they might not survive.
** [[spoiler: Also happens in Act II Part 4 with [[VideoGame/MetalGearSolid Solid Snake]] to Mario]]
* ItsPersonal: Wario wanting to destroy Mario in Season 3
* JerkAss:
** Bob and Joe of RMA Studios.
** Wario and Waluigi in ealier seasons.
** Snake can sometimes be this too but then becomes JerkWithAHeartOfGold.
** Mario himself has even shown this throughout the show, but it shows up most prominently in Season 4.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler: By the end of Season 5, the people well and truly killed off are Ganondorf, Nox Decious, Darkness, Blaire Vherestorm, Scott Masterson, Liquid Snake, Tommy Vercetti, Merlin and Link. (although Link will reincarnate sometime in the future)]]
* KnightOfCerebus: Once Link shows up, the story kicks off and the Bros. and friends face progressively darker foes throughout the rest of the series.
* LanguageOfMagic: [[spoiler: the counter curse in Act 2 Part 6 of TheMovie]]
* LargeHam:
** Any role played by Richard
** Wario ''is'' this trope in earlier seasons, and has become one again after season three where he was a [[spoiler:BigBad]].
** Max Payne appears to be this so far.
* LaserBlade: Like in VideoGame/SuperSmashBros, they are [[WritingAroundTrademarks called Beam Swords]].
** Lampshaded by Wario and Mario in Season 4
--> Wario: So why do we fight with Li.... uhh I mean Beam Swords?
--> Mario: I don't know. They use them in Super Smash Brothers.
* LighterAndSofter: Season 4 [[spoiler: until The Darkness and Decious return]]. Previously we've dealt with evil copies of Mario and Luigi, Bowser, and a temporarily evil Wario. Now we have comic relief ninjas.
* LineOfSightName: Snake gets one in ''The Interactive Adventure''. "My name is um... Stapler...Cheeto!"
* LoonyFan: More like a Crazy-obsessed-stalker-who-makes-you-unable-to-sleep-at-night Fan, as evidenced by her "Let's Get Hammered" Mario T-Shirt.
* MacGuffin: The Nether Saber and the Truth Stone.
** And then the Master Sword in Season 5. [[spoiler: Since it's the only thing that can defeat Ganon.]]
* ManBehindTheMan: Ganondorf is [[spoiler: effectively behind most of the major conflict in the series; he was involved in the first revival of Nox Decious, who in turn created the Darkness, who in turn created the Trifecta, who paved the way for Ganondorf and his army.]] The Darkness serves as this for The Trifecta in Season 4.
* MandatoryLine: Doug Orofino gets only one line as Waluigi in Episode 26, much to his annoyance as shown in the bloopers.
--> Wario: "Just keep your mouth shut and let me do all the talking!" Waluigi: "Fine!"
* ManipulativeBastard: In Season Four, Professor Oak willingly tricks Gary and Brock into doing several mundane tasks for him just so they could find out from him which one of them sucks more. [[spoiler: Oak eventually claims they equally suck for not turning down the tasks. As a result the two fight over which one of them hates each other the most which Oak uses to his advantage once more.]]
* MediumAwareness: Plenty. For example, Wario complains about being unable to get a flashback.
* MergedReality: [[spoiler: Ganondorf's real plan is to combine the Real World and the Dark Realm.]]
* MindRape: [[spoiler: Luigi with his scenes with Decious...]]
* MoodWhiplash: As mentioned above, the first season was entirely focused on comedy, while becoming serious from Season Two onwards.
* MotiveRant: Happens quite often. A good example is [=FedEx=]'s confrontation with UPS in Episode 13.
* TheMovie: The Movie. Operation Blind Storm has the spirit of this trope, but isn't as long as the movie.
** Many consider the finale, Episode 75 as a movie due it's long length.
* MutualKill: [[spoiler: Nox and the Darkness]].
* MythologyGag: In Season Three, Link drinks expired milk. He temporarily loses his ability to speak and goes to bed shouting like he does in [[WesternAnimation/TheLegendofZelda1989 his own series]]. In Season Four, Wario and Mona end up in a relationship. In the ''VideoGame/WarioWare'' games, Mona [[WhatDoesSheSeeInHim actually has something for Wario]]. (It should also be noted Wario's actor Matt and Mona's actor Erin are boyfriend and girlfriend).
* NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast: Nox Decious, The Darkness
* [[NewYearHasCome New Years Episode]]: In which Mario and Luigi celebrate the New Year and Wario is desperate to join them (noting the episode is non canon as a reason to join them) but is left with a hobo.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: In Episode 74, a ninja taunts Wario (who had just abandoned his friends) and his threats sufficiently piss off Wario to the point where he rejoins his friends.
* NightmareSequence: Luigi has two concerning [[spoiler: Nox Decious]]
* {{Ninja}}: Though they are very lazy and stupid. But make for a FunnyBackgroundEvent.
* NewJobEpisode: In Season One, where Mario and Luigi are tired of plumbing, decide to try out a bunch of jobs but fail every time.
* NoNameGiven: The "Package Delivery Men" are only known by the company the represent.
* NotQuiteDead: [[spoiler: The Darkness TWICE as of Season 4]]
** [[spoiler: Liquid Snake in Season 4 only to die later.]]
** [[spoiler: Mario in Act II]]
* OhCrap: [[PrivateEyeMonologue "I said"]] courtesy of VideoGame/MaxPayne
* OverlyLongGag: Mario's BigNo after a [[LoonyFan crazy fan]] stole his hat.
* OnceAnEpisode:
** In the first season it was the mailbox and the running up the hill
** And also, they recently had the Subscribe Voice at the end of the episodes.
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: The reason [[spoiler: Wario killed Nox Decious]]
* OohMeAccentsSlipping: Played with. In season three, after Mario's accent vanishes, Luigi notices it and says they're beginning to sound more Irish. Cue Mario denying it... in an Irish Accent. And in the final two seasons, Mario tends to speak in Rich Alvarez's normal speaking voice quite a few times.
* PinkMist: [[spoiler: Appears after Liquid get killed [[http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110429231537/stupidmariobros/images/b/b7/Liquiddeath.png here]].]]
* {{Pirates}}: In The Interactive Adventure and are part of The Darkness's Army in Season Five. They're effective to an extent but some of them tend to get drunk on rum.
* PleaseSubscribeToOurChannel: A pretty unique one too as Richard performs a funny voice at the end of every episode (and video for that matter) that goes like this:
--> "Please Subscribe, it's free and easy. Just click the Yellow Button and for every time you subscribe to Richalvarez *followed by a witty line or joke*"
* PrecisionFStrike: [[spoiler: Tommy Vercetti]] has this reaction to seeing Brock and Gary in the Season 5 premiere.
-->'''Tommy:''' Who the f*ck are these idiots?!?!
* PreMortemOneLiner: "You picked the wrong day to be an asshole". [[spoiler: Waluigi to Blaire Vherestorm]]
* PrivateEyeMonologue: Max Payne says his out loud, parodied in that Max has one in the games.
* PublicDomainSoundtrack: ''Dance of the Knights'' from Prokofiev's ''Romeo and Juliet Ballet'' is used as Nox Decious' theme.
* PutOnABus / WrittenInAbsence: Happens quite a bit.
** Waluigi has this happen [[spoiler: when Waluigi gives the others his powers and falls into a coma]], thanks to the actor living quite far away. [[spoiler: He then returns in Season 5 only for him to overstrain himself and become stuck in and out of consciousness.]]
** Brock, played by Austin, has the same problem but managed to come back for Season 4 and 5.

** Brock's actor moving to San Francisco.
** Doug's (Waluigi) trip to Australia.
** Peach's actress was Richard's (now ex) girlfriend, and Walgina's actress (also ex) was Doug's. Mona's actress is also Matt's (Wario) girlfriend.
* RuleOfFunny: Why Ganondorf's voice (done by Matt) is so ridiculous and [[EvilIsHammy Hammy]].
** But is no longer as serious as he is now Season Five's main villain.
* RunningGag: Plenty.
** Taco Lax being mentioned by either Wario or Waluigi. Sometimes both of them.
** Pokeballs never work

*** "I roll with gangs", a joke originally made in Episode 1's bloopers.
*** There's also "From Mona?", which started from a joke in Episode 51's bloopers. It later appears in the bloopers for Episode 53, and seems to be on it's way to becoming a Running Gag.
* SadTimesMontage: Episode 2, after Luigi leaves
* SchoolIsForLosers: Brock reasons his return from Reffing School was because "School is for Slow-pokes".

* SharingABody: [[spoiler: Luigi and Nox Decious]] not only share a body [[spoiler:but used to share a mind]].
* {{Shout Out}}:
** A lot to Nintendo. This ''is'' a Mario series.
*** VideoGame/SuperSmashBros in several instances like mention of Roy getting replaced by Ike.
*** Luigi's entire story in "The Interactive Adventure" is a Shout Out to VideoGame/LuigisMansion.
** In Season Three, Master Miller's appearance and Snake, Otacon and Ash's journey to destroy the Nether Saber is one to VideoGame/MetalGearSolid. [[spoiler: As Wario like Liquid was actually Master Miller and him tricking Snake into activating the Nether Saber is like Liquid tricking Snake into activating Metal Gear Rex]].
** Wario's temporary costume from Season 4 is his biker outfit from ''VideoGame/WarioWare''.
** Episode 27's HongKongDub is this to ''Film/KungPowEnterTheFist''.

-->'''The League:''' *bursts into laughter*
-->'''Ganondorf:''' Surely that's not the best you can do?
-->'''Mario:''' Oh I can do better and don't call me Shirley
* SayMyName: Happens during Mario's battle with Nox Decious.
* SlidingScaleOfSillinessVersusSeriousness: Each season was either silly or serious thanks to an UnpleasableFanbase.

* SoulJar: [[spoiler: Luigi]]
* SpinOff:
** Though there's no official one, the Ash and Brock series comes close.

** Austin (Brock) and Daen (Professor Oak) produced their own spin-off name [[https://www.youtube.com/user/AustinsPlayhouse ''Stupid Pokemon Friends'']] that follows on Brock and Oak's adventures after S[=t=]MB ends. Sadly conflicts with Richard and RMA resulted in it being cancelled after one episode.

* SpiritualSuccessor:
** "Super Mario News" on Machinima

** On a similar note, Richalvarez's next big web series since this one, ''WebVideo/ThePlumberKnightReturns'' fits the bill.

-->[[spoiler: '''Darkness:''']] Gee, that stung!
* TitleDrop: Bowser in Act II: "THOSE, STUPID, MARIO BROTHERS!".
* ToiletHumour: Quite a bit. While {{justified|Trope}} by the source material (as Wario has a fart attack), it is disliked by several fans. This caused a funny TakeThat by Julian (Snake) over the forums:
-->If you guys hate toilet humor, then you're going to hate the next episode when I eat poop and smear it on my face while throwing it at Mario's face and then swimming in a diarrhea fountain.
* TookALevelInBadass: Mario in "The Interactive Adventure." He then Lampshades this.
--> '''Mario:''' Hmm. I can't believe I just did that. I'm supposed to be a fun loving video game character. Oh well!.
* TrainingFromHell: Link makes the Mario Bros. endure rigorous training in order to be ready to fight [[spoiler:Nox Decious]]
** Subverted in that it amounts to [[spoiler:them playing VideoGame/SuperSmashBros]], but Mario and Luigi react as if the trope were played straight.

--> '''Mario''': But...you were [[spoiler: stabbed as a human]]! You were supposed to die!
--> '''[[spoiler: Darkness]]''': (laughs) Not quite! You see...[[spoiler: I was already mortal ''before'' I fought Wario!]]

** Is Waluigi still employed at the printer shop?
** What was in the letter meant for Mario in Episode 22?
** The $8000 Mario and Luigi got from TheMafia. WordOfGod claims they used it to pay Max Payne.
** Temari, Ken's girlfriend whom he blamed Ryu for leaving him did not appear or get mentioned in Season 5 when the two make up. Richard stated that he decided not to include her but would later regret it since it creates an obvious plot hole.
