6[[http://www.illwillpress.com/ Neurotically Yours]] (the title comes from 'Writer's Block,' in which Germaine signs her poem Neurotically Yours after going insane) is an online cartoon series created, animated, starring, voiced by, and generally fueled by Jonanthan Ian Mathers (also known as J.I.M). Episodes are one to three minutes long and feature an ongoing storyline with some CharacterDevelopment for the lead characters (generally Germaine and sometimes Foamy, since the other characters tend not to learn anything from their mistakes - ever), while the rest feature hyper-aggressive, comically exaggerated rants by Foamy about various annoyances and what he considers to be the stupidity of humans.
7
8The show is notable for:
9
10* its manner of subverting cultural expectations involving a variety of sensitive issues (particularly involving gender roles);
11
12* being extremely politically incorrect (making a point to mock acceptable and unacceptable targets equally);
13
14* its tendency to become eccentric author tract and;
15* large globs of bodily fluids.
16
17
18[[AC: There are a few recurring elements to the series:]]
19
20* Fan Mail: Foamy hates it but is forced to answer it. For the first few episodes, Foamy is friendly and excited, but undergoes a CreatorBreakdown, during which he burns his set. He gradually recovers, now just spending the fan mail segments insulting his letter-writing fandom.
21* Rants: Foamy hates X, and this is why.
22
23The show rebooted as of September of 2011 with updated character designs and plans to incorporate aspects of something like six other projects Mathers has sporadically worked on since [=NY=]'s inception (so that he's only got the one show to worry about).
24
252020 saw the debut of a podcast sub-series, Squirrels & Robots, featuring the four squirrels as well a robot named J.O.S.I.

28!!This show shows examples of:
29* AbortedArc:
30** The storyline involving Germaine bettering her life and getting a scholarship so she could go to college never fully developed thanks to the series getting a reboot. It was implied, however, that Germaine still did sexual favors to strangers and the Reboot episode had Foamy state that Germaine's life in the future was going to be ''worse'' than it was in the past 10 years.
31** The episodes revolving around Mutie was also cut short when she got killed by a tentacle monster, most likely due to the character adding very little to the storyline and people only watching the episodes just to drool over her.
32** The reboot itself was thrown out as well. Rather than continue the story of Germaine adjusting to life in Connecticut, [[spoiler: the entire thing since the very first episode was shown to be Germaine's delusions going out of control.]] The author eventually stated he wanted to get away from the "mature" Germaine storyline (likely stemming from viewers who constantly missed the point about Germaine's character).
33* ACupAngst: Yes and no. Germaine for a long time was quite busty, but recently had breast reduction surgery. At first she was pleased that her back was feeling better and she wasn't being harassed as much. When she realized that she wasn't getting free stuff anymore she seemed a bit down, but was still okay with her decision. Then Foamy pointed out that without her huge breasts, Germaine would likely no longer get massive tips at Starshmucks, and she had a massive [[OhCrap "oh fuck"]] moment as she made more off tips than her actual salary. [[spoiler: The whole issue is resolved one episode later, when she gets a magic ring that allows her to grow her breasts to whatever size she wants at will.]]
34* AGodAmI: This was Foamy's gimmick before mellowing out a bit. [[spoiler: The "Reboot Button" episode implies that it may very well be true.]]
35* AllMenArePerverts: Brought up frequently, because according to Foamy, Germaine is supposed to represent the every woman who is constantly harassed by the every guy, who sees her as a sex object and not a person. The subject of one of Foamy's rants as well; much of the fanmail is about wanting to see Germaine naked.
36** Begley noticeably enjoys sexuality more than the other squirrels.
37** Anchovie spends every waking moment lusting after Germaine, focusing only on her breasts. He loses interest in her in the reboot arc once Germaine gets a breast reduction, [[spoiler: until she gets her breast size changing ring, then she can flip his attraction to her on and off like a light switch.]]
38* AllJustADream: [[spoiler: The majority of Germaine's life since the very first episode. "Exit the Asylum" reveals that Germaine was massively afraid of being oversexualized and sexually abused by men while also being conflicted on what society wants her sexuality to be. This also meant that Anchovie was never a stalker to begin with and was just a young man who was too shy to approach her while Franklin was a homosexual friend she made up so that she could have a male friend that wouldn't abuse her. The pressure from society on what Germaine's sexuality should be eventually caused her to snap and be admitted to an asylum to recover and bring her back to reality.]]
39* AllThereInTheManual: The character section on the author's web site gives information on how some characters came to be, such as Anchovie.
40* AlternateContinuity: What the series is if Germaine stopped focusing on her poetry and moved out of the expensive New York City (post reboot).
41** One can only hope the chibisodes are this too, [[FridgeHorror otherwise poor little Germaine is gonna go through a lot when she gets older]].
42* AlternateTimeline: Foamy's explanation on how his reboot button works; the user's consciousness is sent back 10 years to the past where they get to experience déjà vu and have a second chance in bettering their lives while the user in the present timeline continues to live as they normally do (usually for the worse). [[spoiler: "Exit the Asylum" reveals most of it may not have been fully true due to the reveal of Germaine having made up most of her life via self inflicted delusions. It is confirmed in "Filling in the Blanks" that the early episodes of the reboot were true, but somewhere after Germaine got hired at the Wal-Mart knock-off is where it starts to be a dream due to her broken psyche.]]
43* {{Animesque}}: The rebooted series art style gives this off somewhat.
44* ArtEvolution: Not so much with Foamy, whose Flash model has basically been the same since the start, but Germaine BIG TIME, so much so that it's a plot point now how much Germaine has changed. Even Germaine's hair changed from being short and spiky to being longer and sporting a ponytail.
45** The way the cartoons are animated is different now as well. Foamy's eyes and arms used to just slowly float up or down depending on which way he moved them, but now his movements are much more quick and snap back instead of just floating aimlessly off.
46** Franklin went from [[http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk197/black_tears_90/franklinold.png this]] to [[http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk197/black_tears_90/franklinnew.png this.]], and then [[http://www.illwillpress.com/pics/FrankCHAR.jpg this!]]
47** The eyes of all the human characters changed throughout the series. Initially, the eyes were drawn very large with small irises. Over time, the eyes were drawn smaller for a more proportional look. In the reboot arc, the eyes became a mix of the previous two styles, having large eyes with just as large pupils. Foamy commented on the new style that his eyes are so large that they hurt.
48* ArrangedMarriage: WordOfGod says that Dia from the Dia & Tofu side series was supposed to have been married to Mammed Udi, the tech support guy. This is from the [[AllThereInTheManual character section of the author's web site]] and is not seen in the actual episodes, but it was hinted in "Twitter Talking Robots" that Dia ditched Mammed Udi for being a loser and possibly a womanizer.
49* ArtShift: At the end of "Reboot Button", the art style goes back to the original style of the series, ten years ago. This, in turn, leads to a drastic ArtEvolution for series's reboot, where all the characters are redesigned to be a highly refined version of how they looked (or would have looked) in the very first episode.
50* AscendedExtra: Jack and Roswell.
51* AuthorAvatar: Foamy appears to be one of these in the rant episodes.
52* BeCarefulWhatYouWishFor: Foamy gave Germaine the reboot button because he could no longer deal with the drama of her down spiraling life. In the post-reboot series, Germaine's life is more stable but she also annoys Foamy much more.
53* BerserkButton: Foamy has so many to the point where he should be a plain ol' [[TheBerserker berserker]]
54** Foamy's biggest berserk button are people who write to him demanding Germaine to be naked more often...or any letter about Germaine in general.
55** Begley [[AccidentalMisnaming being referred to as Bentley]] seems to function as this as well ("It's Begley! Beg-LEY! I'm not a butler, y'know, you fuckin' wankers...!")
56* BewareTheNiceOnes: Begley seems like the nicest of the squirrels, but piss him off and you're in for a world of hurt.
57** Pilz-E is also usually very nice, but he lacks anything even remotely resembling lucidity. The result is that he might hurt others unintentionally - like, for example, giving a group of infants enough tranquilizers to kill a group of ''adults,'' due to being under the impression that the pills were candy.
58* BeYourself: In a very cynical, insulting, and roundable way, this is actually a common message in Neurotically Yours episodes, from scripted hijinx to rant episodes.
59-->'''Foamy:''' [''to Germaine''] If you're a fat bastard, be a fat bastard!
60
61-->'''Foamy:''' [''to the viewer''] Just be yourself, and people will know what to expect.
62* BigApplesauce: In Foamy Fan Mail XIV, Foamy [[JustifiedTrope explains]] that Germaine's slutty acts are because of how expensive it is to live here.
63* BlackComedy: Including an episode with actual dead babies.
64** Apparently, they're very hard to sweep up once they've hit rigor mortis.
65* BloodBath: An early short with Germaine getting attacked by the Ghostface Killer from the ''Film/{{Scream}}'' movies ends with Germaine continuing her bath in the killer's own blood while his body is seen hanging from the ceiling in the background.
66* BoobBasedGag: Referenced in "A Change of Heart" where Foamy (in the rebooted arc) tells Germaine about the book and then a ring that allows the user to enlarge their breasts at will. Germaine orders the ring and alternates between blowing up her breasts and shrinking them down to normal size while Anchovie watches through a window before [[YourHeadASplode his head explodes from too much pleasure and excitement when Germaine goes for massively huge boobs]].
67* BreakoutCharacter: Foamy started out as Germaine's pet and sidekick. The pet thing is still ''technically'' true.
68** In later episodes before the reboot, he might not even count as ''that'' anymore. After Germaine leaves home to go on a trip of self-discovery, Foamy starts paying for the apartment himself with his cult money. Even though she eventually comes back, he's basically destroyed the definition of "pet".
69** The reboot confirms that he's still considered to be Germaine's pet, though in one of the chibisodes (which show the pair as children) Germaine outright stated that the only reason Foamy's still alive is that he knows how to feed himself. So he's a pet, but an extremely independent one.
70* BreastExpansion: Of two varieties:
71** Pre-reboot, "Amplified Bible" has Foamy reading from the "Better Boobs Through Witchcraft" book, which causes Germaine's breasts to start growing. The following cartoon shows they're still growing and have become humongous to the point shes pinned to her bed, much to Anchovy's delight.
72** Post-reboot, after Germaine gets a breast reduction she begins to somewhat regret the decision after figuring out she won't get big tips anymore at her barista job (where she wears an outfit that shows off lots of cleavage). Foamy informs her about a ring that can let her control the size of her breasts so that way she can have huge boobs only when she wants to, and by the end of "A Change of Heart" she's seen trying it out in the bathtub, going up to sizes so big that her StalkerWithACrush, Anchovy, peering in from outside her bathroom window [[YourHeadAsplode has his head explode]] from excitement. In "Big Tips" shes shown using the ring to make her breasts bigger than her head, and getting bigger tips than ever,[[spoiler: which gets her fired in "Breast Milk Lattes" since more people were coming in to give her tips than to buy anything. She then gets her breast reduction undone in the following episode.]]
73* BuffySpeak: Pilz-E, constantly. "Look at that, her head went boom like a big thing gone exploded-like thing, with the things and the ch-ch-ch-choooong."
74* ButtMonkey: Mostly Germaine, sometimes literally.
75* CassandraTruth: Roswell is pretty much right about Foamy, but nobody believes him.
76* CatchPhrase: Foamy, usually using "Squirrely Wrath" and "FatBastard"
77* CelibateHero: Foamy has absolutely no interest in finding someone to love and gets annoyed when Germaine asks him if he finds some girls that she knows as hot (mostly because the girls are human and Foamy is a squirrel). Foamy knows it's perfectly normal for people to fall in love and to lust after each other, but he feels people are too caught up in their sexuality and make a big deal out it.
78* CerebusSyndrome: The recent Germaine arc has become a lot more serious, with some episodes featuring almost no humour. The author has stated this will be temporary, though.
79* CharacterDevelopment: Germaine mostly, though very subtle if you haven't been paying attention to the series. Germaine starts off as a stereotypical jaded goth chick who thinks everyone's stupid and AllMenArePerverts while secretly having sexual fantasies and fetishes she routinely denies when Foamy questions her about it. It got to the point where she enjoyed the sexual acts but still hated how men treated her like garbage, so she gained a ''ton'' of weight in order to make herself less appealing, only to now have guys chase her even more because of the fat ass and huge breasts she obtained from being so fat. After sliding into an extreme depression, Germaine decides to leave the city and get herself back together.
80** When Germaine returns home, she becomes more aggressive towards perverts (even talking about jamming a pencil in a guy's crotch!) and even flips off Foamy whenever he gives her a hard time. Time away from the city opened her eyes greatly.
81* ChristmasSpecial: Averted. Foamy hates Holiday Specials, and devotes an entire episode to complaining about them.
82** Played straight after a while, as there have been several Christmas and Halloween episodes (done in the normal Foamy fashion, though, so they aren't exactly "typical").
83* ChubbyChaser: Germaine in the reboot reveals herself as this, wanting to get together with a fat girl.
84** In a pre-reboot fan mail, Foamy received a letter from a fan talking about his sexual fantasies with the overweight Germaine.
85* CloudCuckooLander: Pillz-e, full stop. Most likely to do with all the medication he takes. Foamy dips into this trope sometimes as well.
86** TheCuckoolanderWasRight: After leaving the asylum, Germaine seeks help from Pillz-E for managing hallucinations. She eventually decided this is a mistake and says so, to which Pillz-E retorts that of the [[SplitPersonalities six of them]], he's the only one who "wasn't in a crazy house". She concedes the point.
87* ClusterFBomb: Foamy does this ''a lot.''
88* ComicallyMissingThePoint: In ''Meditational Melee'', Germaine tells Foamy that people in the south use squirrels for chili meat. He responds by saying that he likes chili.
89** Germaine's attempt to write a book and create a web site based on her abused sexual history is full of this trope. She believes giving exact details of the sexual acts she went through would inspire women to avoid making the same mistakes she made. All it does is make Germaine sound whiny because she didn't really do anything about her problems and anyone reading or watching her content would get a sexual thrill from it instead of caring about what she had to endure.
90** Pilz-E breathes this trope; he gets common phrases and meanings completely mixed up or just plain wrong, such as thinking "solitaire confinement" meant that he had to sit in a room playing Solitaire all day (he was thinking of solitary confinement). In the episode "Eye Stigmata", Pilz-E is actually right for once when he has a stigmata in his eyes, causing him to profusely bleed from them at the episode's end.
91** In "Fomay Fanmail XIV", Foamy gets a letter from a fan that says she would hit on Germaine. This is followed by a clip of [[VisualPun a guy punching Germaine in the face]] and Foamy then saying hitting women is bad.
92* ComplainingAboutPeopleNotLikingTheShow: In universe in one of the 4-Y Records episodes. Despite spending almost every episode insulting other people's music tastes, the shopkeeper gets very annoyed with a customer for hating [[Music/MindlessSelfIndulgence The Left-Rights]].
93* ContinuityNod: The "Summoning Santa" episode has an elf scold Foamy for killing several people at a park by tossing acorns at them.
94* CutHisHeartOutWithASpoon: This is mostly done by Foamy, but Germaine has done this at least once as well.
95** In ''Zip Codes'', Foamy threatens Franklin when the latter tries to get Foamy to fill out paperwork. Just to get his coffee: "I will fucking kill you. DO YOU HEAR ME?!? I will tear off your fucking balls and staple them to your fucking forehead! STOP FUCKING AROUND AND GET ME MY FUCKING COFFEE!!!"
96** In ''Dworgies'', Foamy replies in this way about what he would like to do to himself when Germaine asks if he ever fantasized about "doing" her: "I'd rather be killed, buried, dug back up fifty years later, REANIMATED BY HERBERT WEST AND THEN KILLED ALL OVER AGAIN!!! AND I'M TRYING TO THINK OF SOMETHING MORE EXTREME THAN THAT, BUT I CAN'T BECAUSE I'M SO DISGUSTED, IT'S BLINDING MY ABILITY TO THINK!!!"
97** Germaine does this in ''"Work Related Incident"'' as a response to Anchovie's incessant ogling: "I WILL STRANGLE YOU WITH MY FUCKING BRA STRAP!!!"
98** In ''"Clothes Donation"'', Germaine admits to stick a pencil in a man's genitals because he was sexually assaulting her. Strangely, Foamy approves.
99--->'''Germaine:''' Dude, it was a sexual assault.
100--->'''Foamy:''' So, you assaulted a guy so he COULD jizz on your boobs?
101--->'''Germaine:''' No, dumbass...he assaulted ME!
102--->'''Foamy:''' Ooooohhh...oh...hmm...yeah, because you kinda seem a little carefree about that.
103--->'''Germaine:''' Meh...I'm kinda used to it. Besides, I shoved a pencil in his dickhole. So, I think things evened out with the karma there.
104--->'''Foamy:''' Niiiccceee!
105* DeadpanSnarker: Germaine and Foamy. Mammed Udi also became this when he was fired from his tech support job and now doesn't really care about the problems of his customers in his odd jobs as long as he gets paid for it.
106* DealWithTheDevil: The episode "Radio Offer" shows a devil on the radio offering money in exchange for souls. Pilz-E Wants 10 of them to get the offered decoder ring and Germaine already sold her soul.
107* DumbBlonde : Germaine. During her travel logs, her hair grew back un-dyed, revealing her to be a natural blonde. She's not air-headed in the stereotypical way, but could arguably still fit this trope due to the way she handled her life.
108* EarlyBirdCameo: Before Mammed Udi officially popped up in the Tech Support subseries, [[http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/86114 you can see him here]]
109* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: The first few batches of episodes are quite odd to look at compared to the later episodes in the series; the backgrounds and character designs were more simplistic and rough while Foamy was almost a completely different character by speaking quickly and just saying whatever came to mind. Pillz-E, while speaking fast and talked about nonsensical stuff before, didn't go off the rails on topics as much as he did in his future appearances and his voice pitch was almost the same as Foamy's, only with a faster speaking speed.
110* EquivalentExchange: Parodied via a cursed toaster. Put something in, and something possibly completely unrelated comes out in time spans that are as consistent as water if the title cards are to be believed.
111* EvenEvilHasStandards: Averted in ''Nuts to You''. Foamy avoids killing a baby despite Pilz-E's constant prodding. Reason? He thought it would be funny if the baby grew up knowing its mother was murdered. Just another MoralEventHorizon in the life of Foamy the squirrel...
112** In ''Foamy Cult Meeting'', Begley questions the need for "squirrely force" to bring on the demise of the human race.
113** In ''Deck Waving'', Foamy calls Germaine out for using devious tactics to win at poker.
114* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Anchovie is mainly known as The Pizza Guy/Dude. According to WordOfGod, Anchovie got his name from smelling like anchovies all the time since he has been a pizza delivery guy for a long time.
115* FanService: Played straight. Averted. Inverted. Subverted. Sometimes all in the same clip.
116* FatBastard: Foamy always made fun of Germaine's weight, despite the fact that she wasn't overweight, but then he had a reason to make fun of her once Germaine actually did gain weight. Granted, Germaine's weight gain was on purpose, but she still exhibited the traits of fat bastardy, which included eating food anywhere she went (such as the bathroom), having poor taste in clothes that made her fat figure more apparent, and loudly belching whenever she felt like it. She lost some weight when she left the city for a while and the reboot erased the entire thing.
117* FiveFingerDiscount: In "Sexy Costumes" Germaine says this is how she gets her hair dye... though it turns out she's refering to a different kind of five-finger discount.
118* {{Flanderization}}: Germaine, going from a typical angsty art-school {{Goth}} in the early episodes, to a {{Wangst}}y StrawFeminist in the classic series. She seems to have evened out somewhat in the reboot.
119** Anchovie was hit hard by this trope, going from a stalker with a crush to a potential rapist that only thinks about having sex with Germaine and always. This is taken further where he always [[JizzedInMyPants creams all over himself]] at the sight of her.
120** The Hatta' was also flanderized to the point where he's a walking racist caricature of a stereotype that does nothing but spew racist comments while trying to justify what he says is not racist.
121* FlatCharacter: Mutie is just ludicrously big-breasted [[MsFanservice eye candy]] put in DVD-exclusive episodes to [[SchmuckBait entice horny guys into buying the [=DVDs=]]]. [[WordofGod Foamy also explained]] in "Foamy Fan Mail XIII" the entire "Mutie" arc was supposed to be [[SpoofAesop about how breasts are useless]].
122* GamerChick: In the reboot and Chibisodes, Germaine has been playing more video games. In the episode "Gamer Chicks", she is playing Duty Calls 7 and is 11th on the leaderboards, while Foamy is 256th.
123-->'''Foamy:''' How you do dat?!? HOW YOU DO DAT?!?
124-->'''Germaine:''' Headshots, baby. Headshots! I fucking love headshots! I FUCKING LOVE HEADSHOTS!
125* GroinAttack: Foamy has threatened to do this. Germaine actually does this ''twice'' (once ''on-screen'').
126** Foamy threatens Franklin with this in ''Zip Codes'' when Franklin keeps asking questions about his zip code, opening up a [=StarSchmucks=] credit card account and getting the [=StarShmucks=] rewards card ''instead'' of ''getting Foamy his fucking coffee!''. See CutHisHeartOutWithASpoon.
127** Germaines first does it in ''Clothes Donation''. See CutHisHeartOutWithASpoon.
128** She then does it again in ''A Latte Butt'' [[spoiler:when she ''literally rips Franklin's you-know-what off'' on-screen]].
129* {{Hammerspace}}: Occurs often with Foamy and Pilz-E during their conversations where they just pull out random items related to the topic they're talking about, although it's more like a prop since the characters hardly use what they pull out.
130* HatesEveryoneEqually: Foamy (Germaine seems to be sliding towards this)
131* HeadPet: Foamy sometimes does this to Germaine.
132* HookerWithAHeartOfGold: [[spoiler: Subverted with Germaine, who, though generally a decent person, is ''extremely'' cynical. Considering her career as a plus-sized pornstar and call girl seems to be panning out quite profitably, but she's really only doing it because she would rather be writing poetry, the subversion is entirely understandable.]]
133* HumansAreMorons: Foamy's view of the world around him is very much this.
134* HypocriticalHumor: Loads of them:
135** J.I.M., the creator of Neurotically Yours, continually complained about perverted fans sexualizing Germaine. As the original series progressed, he put her in more and more sexual situations.
136** He eventually explains that Germaine going from a feminist to a blatant whore was a part of her character development all along, given away by the subtext of several episodes. [[http://www.illwillpress.com/GERMSTUPID22.html He explains it here.]]
137** Germaine has complained a number of times about men only caring about women's looks, [[DoubleStandard but apparently it's okay for her to ogle over a man's appearance]].
138** The Hatta' lives and breathes this trope. Every time someone calls him out about being racist or a stereotype, the Hatta' strongly defends his point of view by saying how what he says is the truth or is just a "strong opinion".
139** "Programming Conflict" in the reboot has Germaine having no problem of pornorgraphy and also has no problem watching it, but she apparently has a problem with being in a porno herself, even if it's about the stuff she likes.
140* {{Gasshole}}: Germaine. Her belching out loud at random times has become a RunningGag since "Gas-E-Pop", in which she drank a bottle of the episode's titular soda and burped constantly for the rest of the episode. Whether she is still burping because of the soda or not is unclear, but she was particularly proud of her burp in "Deck Waving".
141* InSpiteOfANail: In both the original series and reboot, [[spoiler:society's objectification of and ridiculously high beauty and sexuality standards pushed on Germaine damages her psyche and causes her to act out. The only difference is how she reacts to it. In the original series Germaine tried to de-feminize herself to escape sexual harassment, only to get fired for her new look but sexually harassed by men anyway, sending her into a downward spiral of poverty, depression and prostitution. In the new series, she's more outwardly and financially stable but develops sexually lewd and violent hallucinations to cope with reality.]]
142* InstantHumiliationJustAddYouTube: [[spoiler: After Germaine is released from the institution for her psychotic meltdown, she thinks about going back to one of her old jobs, and Foamy informs her that they won't take her back at her retail job after a customer hit on her, and she began reciting neo-feminist poetry, getting naked, and smashing things with a golf club while shouting "I AM ART! I AM ART!" Germaine noted she had no recollection of that, and Foamy tells her if she ever wants to refresh her memory, the security footage is on youtube.]]
143* {{Jerkass}}: Pretty much everyone has jerkass tendencies, except Mutie. Germaine lays into the squirrels all the time (although they probably deserve a lot of this) and has killed at least three people solely because they annoyed her. Foamy mutilates and maims people for fun (with his nut-tossing) and bosses around and insults Germaine all the time. Begley raped (or sexually tortured, depending on your interpretation) Germaine with a voodoo doll, programmed a sex doll to assault Anchovie, and helped Pilz-E and Foamy tie down Germaine and beat her to a pulp. The Hatta constantly accuses white people of being racist, solely so they'll shut up and walk away. Mammed Udi is sick of all the stupid people calling his helplines and only working for the money, and isn't afraid to let them know.
144* JerkassHasAPoint: Germaine in the classic series tries to lose weight after she gained a lot of it and sought out Foamy for support. Foamy refused to help Germaine and said that he had to deal with her whining for over 8 years about insignificant crap and things in her life she could have fixed on her own, but refused to do so or admit to it. Foamy also stated that that he ''tried'' to put Germaine on the right path many times, but since she refused to listen, he didn't give a damn what she did anymore.
145* {{Keet}}: Pilz-E.
146* KilledOffForReal: Germaine's mute roommate Mutie. Was last seen sunbathing in the episode "Hot enough for you." Near the end, [[DroppedABridgeOnHim she's dragged underwater by a giant tentacle]]. Hasn't appeared since.
147** Subverted. She finally came back in "An Arthouse Halloween".
148* LampshadeHanging: In the Achievements rant, Begley shows up and gets the achievement ''Obscure character reference.''
149* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: In the "World's Biggest Boobs" episode, Foamy points out to Germaine how large her breasts are. Her rebuttal is that she's a cartoon character so realistic proportions and gravity don't apply to her. She then tries to justify that her breasts are actually small because they are as big her eyeballs.
150* LighterAndSofter: The Chibisodes invoke this trope, portraying Germaine (at 10 years old) and Foamy at a younger age with more colorful set pieces and having reduced dark content that the main series is famously known for.
151* LimitedAnimation: Zig zagged. The characters gained better animations as the series progressed, but when it comes to walking, human characters just slide across the screen without moving their legs when walking and slightly bob up and down.
152* LiteralMinded: Pilz-e is a walking embodiment of the trope. He once stated that he would make a booby trap on Germaine to "trap her boobies".
153* LonersAreFreaks: Played straight by Germaine and then subverted later. Germaine at the start of the series was the stereotypical goth teenager that practiced witchcraft and believed in demons while she had absolutely no friends at all and lived with her pet squirrel. Subverted later on where Germaine still has no friends, but after she gives up the goth lifestyle, she is much more well adjusted to life and is emotionally balanced.
154* LongRunner: The series has been going strong since 2003!
155* LoopholeAbuse: Pointed out by Germaine when she gives Foamy the ninja he wanted for Christmas. He didn't say the ninja couldn't be a plush one.
156* MegaCorp: [=StarShmucks=]. They insist on using pretentious fake french names for their coffee, charge over three times the standard price, drive literally every single independent coffee shop out of business via aggressive marketing and advertising, has all their employees forcibly given a neural implant that makes them spout inane slogans and promotional advertisements, and [[spoiler:''assassinates'' Franklin simply because he couldn't get Foamy to purchase their new "Trendi" size. (He got better)]]
157** Foamy is convinced [=WalkMart=] is this.
158* MotorMouth: Foamy often talks non-stop, especially in the early episodes. Pilz-E is worse since he talks twice as fast as Foamy.
159* NeverSpeakIllOfTheDead: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rN3fYng87SM One episode]] is based around subverting this.
160* NoBisexuals: Germaine averts this, but it's possible that Foamy believes in this trope. In "Squirrel Advice," he says, "You're either gay or you're not. Pick one!" However, confusingly, a few moments later he agrees with Germaine that attraction shouldn't be limited by gender, so where he actually stands on this trope is up in the air.
161* NoCelebritiesWereHarmed: Pilz-E sounds like Creator/WoodyAllen on helium.
162* NoMouth: The squirrel characters are drawn with no mouths unless they are using their mouths for something besides talking.
163* NoPeriodsPeriod: Averted with "Chamber of Human Horrors," due to Foamy's mention of Germaine's tampons.
164* NotSoStoic: In the episode introducing Germaine's new "bald" look, the normally calm (if snarky) Germaine caps off her justification rant with a "[[ClusterFBomb SO FUCK OFF YOU FUCKING FUCKER!!]]"
165* OhGodWithTheVerbing: Used pretty much exclusively by Pilz-E.
166* OutOfCharacterMoment: Anchovie in the "Lewd Lingerie" episode where he works as a security guard for a lingerie store and tries his damn best to not get aroused by Germaine's teasing and exploiting advances (she wears nothing but a bra and panties), which is a far contrast to his typical character that does everything he can to get aroused at the sight of Germaine.
167** It could simply be that he was trying to be inconspicuous in his stalking, and was uncertain how to handle having the object of his obsession right in front of him.
168* ParentalAbandonment: For years, the series never mentioned what had happened to Germaine's parents until the episode "Academic Alert" where she states that she hadn't heard from her parents in 6 years. Even in the rebooted storyline, Germaine makes no mention of her parents at all, which implies she may have had some sort of falling out.
169** Germaine seems to be on good terms with her grandfather in the reboot arc since she was entrusted to look after his house in Connecticut while he is away in Florida for the season.
170*** It's further explained by WordOfGod that Germaine was raised by her grandfather since she was 10 years old because her father had abandoned her while her mother was deemed unfit to raise a child.
171* ThePerfectCrime: Part 2 of "The Point of it All" implies that the entire series was this. [[spoiler: With Germaine snapping a guy's neck at the start of season 1 just because he made a pass at her, Germaine and Foamy done everything they could to make it look like Germaine was insane via "squirrels made me do it" (along with all the antics shown in the series throughout the year) so that she could avoid going to jail. It works, but Foamy does warn Germaine to have better self restraint so that he won't have to go through another 15 years of lies and stories again.]]
172* PlayingWithFire: Foamy does this in one fan mail episode where he sets the pile of fan mail on fire after getting annoyed by people sending him more mail when he asked them not to send any more. He still had to answer mail in the episode after that, only with the background charred to a crisp due to his fire antics.
173* PetTheDog: In a roundabout way, "Reboot Button" is Foamy saying to Germaine [[YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre "I think you can do better, I think you should do better and I think you WILL do better."]]
174* ThePlan: According to one fan mail segment, Germaine's recent appearance change is part of some sort of scheme Foamy has concocted.
175** EvilPlan: Said scheme has recently been elaborated on in Foamy's character bio from the official website, and it is CrazyIsCool. Direct quote: ''"He lives with Germaine, his goth chick owner, as her unassuming pet... when in reality, he's plotting to enlighten the world through infallible logic and enforce that logic with an army of robots created from discarded automatons and the brains of his former dead owners. [[LampshadeHanging Crazy, no?]]"''
176* PingPongNaivete: Foamy himself on occasion, particularly in "A Pair of Pants":
177--> ''(Foamy is holding up a pair of trousers with "Cock-Master" written on the seat of them)''
178--> '''Germaine:''' "Cock-Master"? I think I'll pass.
179--> '''Foamy:''' Why? What's wrong with advertising that you are in control of a large farm bird?
180--> '''Germaine:''' Uh... that's not what it means.
181** Later in the same episode:
182--> '''Foamy:''' ''(holding up a pair with "Big Pussy" written on them)'' What about this then? It shows your appreciation for ''giant cats''!
183** Also, think about the following line:
184--> ''"You are looking for a guy named Richard!"''
185* QuitYourWhining: Mammed's message to Germaine in "Suicide Hotline." Well, that and [[StrawmanHasAPoint "Get a job!"]]
186* RaisedByGrandparents: According to young Germaine's profile, she was raised by her grandfather after her father ditched the family while her mother was deemed unfit to be a parent.
187* RantComedy: Foamy's Rants
188* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: According to "Secrets of the Foamy cult" Foamy has existed since ''at least'' the 1920's.
189** Foamy reconfirms this in the "Reboot Button" episode, claiming to Germaine he has lived for at least ''400 years''.
190** Roswell takes this further in "Mythical Squirrels" by suggesting that Foamy is [[spoiler:actually [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ratatoskr Ratatoskr]], a messenger for what may have been the Norse Gods, and may have read those messages, explaining his intellect.]]
191* RefugeInAudacity: Going hand in hand with...
192* ResetButton: Foamy's Reboot Button. He gives this to owners who he deems worthy of a 2nd chance at life so they can avoid any mistakes they made in the past 10 years of their life, via deja vu, when they are reincarnated in the past. Everyone else who isn't given this chance dies from their own stupidity. Germaine presses the button and is sent back 10 years ''to the very first episode of the series, art style and all!'' Once Germaine's deja vu kicks in, she starts to do things differently compared to how her old self had done when the first episode originally aired.
193** The episodes since then are now in a new art style to reflect the change in the series' direction, which Foamy states that if things don't work out here, they can just revert everything back to the way it was before the reboot by rebooting the reboot!
194* RuleThirtyFour: [[JustifiedTrope One of the many reasons]] of Germaine's {{Flanderization}} and another one of Foamy's {{Berserk Button}}s.
195* RunningGag: Every episode that shows Germaine taking a bath ends with her rubber duck exploding in blood. [[LampshadeHanging Lampshaded by Foamy once when he wonders why Germaine keeps buying the exploding ducks]].
196** A more frequent example is where Germaine will have something "spew" something on her or in her mouth. It was even combined with the above in "Academic Alert."
197** See {{Gasshole}} above.
198* SanitySlippage: It seems like Germaine is going to go through this, if "Ninja Christmas" is any indication.
199** Fixed...kinda...with prescription medication, but after Foamy flushed the pills down the toilet, the slippage has started again with "Lunch With Tha' Hatta".
200** It was confirmed that Germaine has been losing her sanity due to stress brought on by objectification and sexualization, causing her to hallucinate random lewd and violent things.
201* ShakingTheRump: Germaine does this in "Jiggly Butt", much to Foamy's displeasure.
202** Sue Z June does this in Foamy's rant called "Gluten Free" to help Foamy make a point.
203* ShoutOut: "Don't you watch {{Series/Fringe}}? You should watch {{Series/Fringe}}."
204** [[Film/ShaunOfTheDead "You got a little red on ya."]]
205* SirSwearsALot: Foamy mostly, but many other characters have their own share of swearing as well.
206* SmallNameBigEgo: Germaine in the classic series. She claims her poetry is amazing and thinks all the publications that reject her work are too stupid to know good poetry if it bit them in the ass. In reality, her poetry is mediocre at best and mostly relies on cliched themes that most teenage poets write about. In the few episodes where Germaine goes to open mic night to recite her poetry, she barely gets an applause and when she recited her poetry at a Boobers restaurant wearing very little clothing, people only watched her for her looks and not her work. Despite Foamy telling Germaine that she can't make a living on writing alone and that her content is rubbish, she routinely denies it until she hits rock bottom.
207** Also Foamy in the original series, to a lesser extent. Despite constantly declaring himself The Lord and Master and expecting praise and worship for his infallible logic, most humans he interacted with just saw him as an annoying squirrel (Germaine) and/or a difficult customer (Franklin and Mammed).
208* SpoiledBrat: Foamy when it comes to getting food. Rather than getting what he wants himself, he always badgers Germaine to do it.
209** The rebooted arc of the series has been making Foamy look like a spoiled brat completely. Rather than accepting things as they are or even supporting Germaine for actually turning her life around (dropping the goth/punk lifestyle, getting a job, moving out, etc.), he demands that Germaine move back to New York City because it has better bagels and cream cheese and how the city is not boring like Connecticut.
210* SoapBoxSadie: Germaine in the classic series was this whenever she ranted on about how women are treated or uses her poetry to bash on men that act like pigs. Everyone else ignores her.
211** Foamy in the reboot arc drifted into this trope when he is not doing a rant episode. While Foamy's rants are usually well thought out and informative, Foamy has resorted to extreme arguments when it comes to Germaine's job and purchasing habits; Foamy demanded that Germaine purchase cream cheese at an independent store in order to support them and not Walkmart, even though the former chargers nearly double the price. When Germaine started to work at Starshmucks in order to make up the hours that was cut from her modeling job, Foamy, who hates the corporate chain, suggest that Germaine gain weight in order to be able to fully work at the modeling job (they wanted heavy girls) and not work at the coffeehouse, but Germaine rightfully tells Foamy that she is not going to put her health at risk just for a job.
212** Germaine pre-reboot calls Foamy out on this, saying that Foamy didn't contribute to the rent at all and was basically a freeloader while she was out being a prostitute to help pay for it.
213* SpringtimeForHitler: Germaine's efforts to make herself less desirable have just made her even more desirable. Her features made her less desirable to the people who motivated the change in the first place. They just sent her careening into an entirely new fetish she didn't even realize existed. Of course, the reboot reveals she ''shares'' this fetish.
214* StalkerWithACrush: Anchovie (the pizza guy).
215* StopBeingStereotypical: Foamy and Germaine have called out The Hatta on the trope, noting how he acts like a [[{{Flanderization}} flanderized]] caricature of his race. The Hatta brushes the accusations off by claiming people are just being racist to him. Bengley once speculated that he'd have some kind of breakdown if he ever met a black man with an English accent.
216* StoryArc: Two at the same time right before the reboot: Foamy's cult finally going big, and Germaine's JourneyToFindOneself.
217* StrawFeminist: Germaine, at times.
218* TalkingWithSigns: Foamy is reduced to this in the episode "User Agreement".
219** The cash register at 4-Y Records also qualifies, since the sign on the register changes text constantly during the episode.
220--->'''4-Y Clerk:''' How much of your brain actually works?
221--->''Cash Register sign changes to "Very little".''
222--->'''Female Customer:''' Doctor says zero.
223--->''Cash Register sign changes to "Told ya"''.
224* TheBusCameBack: Many characters that vanished after the reboot came back in some form or another; Begley returned and complained that Foamy and Germaine ditched him during the move, The Hatta' returned once with his usual racist antics, and Anchovie came back ''much'' later and is still a sexual stalker towards Germaine.
225* TheCuckoolanderWasRight: Roswell, the talking dog from "Secrets of the Foamy Cult". Claimed Foamy was some kind of powerful being that has existed since the 1920's...he was right in a way. Foamy has existed for over ''400 years.''
226* ThisIsForEmphasisBitch: Franklin
227--> *talking into a radio* The squirrel is on to us. *beat* Bitch!
228* ThisLoserIsYou: The pizza guy and every other pervert who lusts over Germaine.
229* ThroughTheEyesOfMadness: Much of the rebooted series has been revealed to have been this for Germaine in "Exit the Asylum" and "Filling in the Blanks," as [[spoiler:many of the more sexually outrageous events (like the breast-enhancing magic ring and getting covered with jizz) turned out to have been hallucinations brought on by society's unrelenting standards and pressure on female sexuality taking their toll on Germaine's psyche.]]
230* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Foamy with bagels and cream cheese. He also likes pancakes with obscene amounts of syrup.
231* TookALevelInBadass: Germaine of all people. In the episode, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tKL0vU9Nf9Q&feature=feedu Clothes Donation]], Germaine explains to Foamy that she stabbed a guy's penis with a pencil after he sexually assaulted her and that she will set the [[StalkerWithACrush pizza guy's]] balls on fire if they ever meet up again. Foamy, who would normally insult Germaine, ''actually approves of all this.''
232* TookALevelInJerkass: Mammed Udi, by the episode "Tech Support IV", snaps at Foamy and tells him off for being so whiny every time he calls for help. Mammed Udi becomes more of a jerk once he works for Easters Anonymous and a suicide hotline, not caring about the job or the people he's paid to help.
233** Foamy quickly became a jerk in the first few seasons, mostly towards Germaine for various reasons.
234* ToughLove: Foamy's constant verbal abuse towards Germaine in order to get her to wake up and see where her life is headed if she does not change her ways (this was before the reboot). This is usually mixed in with his typical jerkass attitude.
235* {{Transplant}}: J.I.M. has cancelled all his other series and the characters from those are now in the cast of the reboot.
236* RealAfterAll: Post-"Exiting the Asylum", [[spoiler:some of the events Germaine remembers from her delusional psychotic break turn out to have actually happened, such as Franklin starting up his own coffee shop/gay bar, and Foamy befriending a schizophrenic author and a mute PsychoElectro.]]
237* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Foamy in the classic series has given Germaine at least more than one rant on why she would never succeed as a poet/writer, why men are always going to lust after her no matter what half assed attempt she did to prevent it, and how after she gained weight that she is only choosing to lose weight after it became a big problem.
238** Germaine gives a minor one to Foamy after she moved back into the city, telling him how he did nothing to help her pay the rent and how he basically lived for free with free food while she whored herself out to pay the bills.
239** In the post-reboot series, Foamy and Germaine gave each other one when Foamy left to live in a P.O. box. Foamy accused Germaine of a being a whiny, self-centered StrawFeminist while Germaine claimed that most of Foamy's "supreme logic" is useless.
240** Mammed Udi gives Foamy a piece of his mind as well, saying how much of an EntitledBastard Foamy is every time he calls tech support to complain about his computer and then yells at him whenever the solution given isn't good enough. Mammed Udi then goes on to slam the entire United States for always relying on someone else to solve their problems or how they always act like every problem they have is too much to handle on their own.
241* UnexplainedRecovery: [[spoiler:Franklin]] in "Last Coffee House Stand".
242* VerbalTic: Pilz-E tends to insert sound effects into his rapid-fire speech.
243* VillainProtagonist: Foamy
244* VocalEvolution: Foamy originally spoke with a faster, deeper voice, and with little emotion, too. This changed over time.
245* TheVoiceless:
246** [[CuteMute Mutie]].
247** Germaine was also voiceless in the really early episodes, presumably because even J.I.M.'s voice acting has limits. The first episode where she speaks is "Hypnotic Foamy".
248* WhamEpisode:
249** "Previous Owner", which gives us a glimpse at who will likely be the series' first villain (an asexual hermaphrodite who wants to kill Foamy for getting him/her in trouble with "evil spirits"). Oh, and Foamy destroys Germaine's medication, so her previously hinted at SanitySlippage will likely become an issue.
250** "Exit the Asylum" reveals that Germaine has been in an insane asylum for years, and most of the strange occurrences around her have been happening in her head (her abrupt redesigns, people randomly cumming on her, [[StalkerWithACrush Pizza Guy's]] [[OutOfCharacterMoment OOC outbursts]], her entire move to Connecticut, etc.), all a result of her SanitySlippage caused by her fear of being overly sexualized by men.
251** Point Of It All Part 1 reveals that [[spoiler: Foamy and the other squirrels are actually a puppets that Germaine made up as a creative outlet to tackle her personal issues, and Mammed Udi from tech support is actually her therapist. It also reveals that Germaine snapping a guy's neck way back in the start of season 1 pre reboot actually happened and she wasn't charged with murder due to her not being sound of mind when it happened.]]
252* [[WhatExactlyIsHisJob What, Exactly, Is Her Job?]]: Germaine had a job at some point and was fired from it, but she never stated what she used to do. The reboot changes this up by showing that Germaine works at a Walkmart but she immediately quits when a customer sexually harasses her. She starts working as an art model in New York. Then, after getting a shortage to her hours there due to the artists going into their "fat phase," she takes a part-time job at StarShmucks to get more money as of "Coffee House Cleavage."
253* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: The Hatta's and Begley's appearances in the classic series dwindled. Franklin has also met with the same fate. This is most likely due to the timeline being altered after the "Reset Button" episode changing everything, which means many old characters are no longer a part of Germaine's life. For Anchovie, this has been averted with his return in "Workplace Incident" and mentioned in "Relationship Issues". This has been averted with Franklin as well as of "Coffee-House Gab".
254* WhoWritesThisCrap: Foamy asks this near the end of "The Jiggly Butt".
255* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: In "Reboot Button," Foamy mentions he's had 632 owners over a 400 year lifetime and has granted the reboot button to only three other owners after offering it to Germaine. He let the others self-destruct from their own stupidity. The ones that didn't self-destruct were destroyed by someone else (in fact, Foamy spent a significant portion of Germaine's allotted ten years on the fence about whether or not she deserved the Reboot Button; the episode ''opens'' with Germaine complaining about getting shot at, and Foamy offhandedly griping about incompetent assassins).
256* YouAreFat: Foamy's go-to insult when he doesn't like someone, especially Germaine.
257-->'''Foamy:''' That's what you get for eating curly fries all day, you fat piece of crap!
258* YouAreWhatYouHate: Germaine in the classic series is this full stop. She hates how women are treated as nothing but sexual objects by men and how women are pressured to dress up in more provocative clothing, yet Germaine has no problem using her own sexuality to manipulate men or allowing herself to become a slut while [[HypocriticalHumor still complaining about how men are pigs.]] It's taken a step further with [[spoiler: her magic breast control ring during her delusions, representing her becoming nothing more than a pair of breasts to be used to her advantage]].
259* YourHeadASplode: What happens to Anchovie in "Lewd Lingerie" after he can't take any more of Germaine's sexual teasing. And again in "A Change of Heart" when [[spoiler: Germaine uses a magic breast size controlling ring to make her breasts gigantic.]]
