Bunnykill is a flash series hosted on Website/{{Newgrounds}} by Finnish animator Juuso "Mottis" Andelin. The stories follow a white rabbit named Snowball slicing, hacking, slashing, shooting, gunning, and blasting his way through legions of grey bunny {{Mooks}}. The main draw of the series is the juxtaposition of cutesy cartoon bunnies [[GrotesqueCute getting shot up and sliced into bloody pieces]]. Mottis was not attempting to tell a "coherent" story with Bunnykill; instead, like ''Franchise/TheLegendOfZelda'' franchise, each episode is stand-alone, taking the same characters in multiple directions and in different roles.

The series is commonly described as ''WebAnimation/MadnessCombat'' [[JustForFun/RecycledINSPACE with bunnies]]. In terms of animation and choreography, this is a very apt comparison, [[SincerestFormOfFlattery as admitted by the animator himself]]. Bunnykill distanced itself quite a bit in the story department from its inspiration, with ''WebAnimation/MadnessCombat'' becoming DarkerAndEdgier while [=BunnyKill=] explored more fantastic settings such as a Franchise/StarWars parody and feudal Japan.

Mottis announced on 5/1/13 that he was no longer working on the series, mainly due to the stress of creating episodes by himself, and that he'd be moving on to other endeavors.

A short tribute collab named Bunny Kill: Resurrection was made, you can watch it on [[https://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/718644 Newgrounds.]]

Characters include:

* '''Snowball''': A white rabbit who is the main character of the series. He is an assassin who wields a variety of weapons, but seems to favor a katana.
* '''Smoke''': A black rabbit with sunglasses. He first appeared as the BigBad of the first episode, was Snowball's employer in the second episode's prologue, appeared in the third episode as a partner to Snowball, and is once again the BigBad in episode 5.
* '''Dust''': A brown rabbit with a red mohawk. He appeared as the BigBad of ''Bunny Kill 2'' and was the final enemy of ''Bunny Kill 3''. In ''5'', he's the target of a rescue mission [[spoiler:until Smoke makes him temporarily BrainwashedAndCrazy and he subsequently kills Snowball, and becomes the new protagonist of ''5'', going on one hell of a RoaringRampageOfRevenge against the ones responsible.]]
* '''Professor Sludge''': A tan MadScientist rabbit with wild Dr. Wily style hair and a scar down one eye. He was the BigBad of ''Bunny Kill 3'', and appears as Smoke's partner in ''5'' before being [[spoiler:betrayed by Smoke, who leaves him behind to be the first victim of BrainwashedAndCrazy Dust]].
* '''Ruby''': A pink rabbit who is currently the only female cast member. She first appeared in ''Bunny Kill 4'' as Snowball's [[FireForgedFriends Fire-Forged Friend]].
* '''Flint''': A tan rabbit with ScaryShinyGlasses who doesn't seem to talk much. First appeared in ''Bunny Kill 4'' as that episode's Big Bad, and makes a small cameo in ''5'' as Snowball's MissionControl [[spoiler:and turns out to be the one behind the PsychoSerum experiment who deliberately sent Snowball to his death on the orders of an as-yet-unnamed figure]].
* '''The Minions''': The {{mooks}}. They range from standard mooks, to MechaMooks, to {{Giant Mook}}s and more, but they rarely last more than a few seconds against Snowball.

----
!!'''Tropes include:'''

* AbsurdlySharpBlade: All the blades. ''All of them.'' Every blade appears to be strong and durable enough to block bullets.
%%* ActionGirl: Ruby
* AlternateContinuity: Each episode takes place in its own continuity.
* AndNowForSomeoneCompletelyDifferent: [[spoiler:Dust becomes the protagonist of episode 5 after he's forced to kill Snowball while BrainwashedAndCrazy.]]
** The fourth movie eschews any of the previously established characters in favor of Snowball and new enemies, making it the only episode without Smoke, and the only episode other than 1 without Dust.
* AnyoneCanDie: Even the protagonist.
* ArtEvolution: The art and animation become smoother with each passing episode.
* AxCrazy: Professor Sludge is pretty much the only character who doesn't like getting his murder on.
* AwesomeButImpractical: The portable minigun turret in 5.2 takes a long time to set up (with a progress bar even), but if Dust didn't have a riot shield handy he'd be LudicrousGibs. Even still, its knockback is enough to keep him pinned until the ammo belt gets jammed due to lack of maintenance.
* BackToBackBadasses: Inverted. In 4, Snowball and Ruby are initially ''front to front'' badasses, and later instead decide to flank Flint.
* BadassBoast: [[spoiler: In Episode 5, Dust messages the traitor with a final message of "Shut the [[PrecisionFStrike fuck]] up. I'm coming for you next, punk. Expect me."]]
%%* BarehandedBladeBlock: Smoke, in the first installment. Leads immediately to WreckedWeapon.
* TheBerserker: Dust's performance in ''5.2'' is a marked contrast to Snowball's previous examples; where the white rabbit fights with impeccable skill and speed, Dust starts his episode with a short [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone scream of anguish]] [[spoiler: after being forced to kill Snowball]] and rampages through the facility after Smoke, using brute force attacks, overwhelming strength, and his katana-shotgun thing to just blow past any defense that the bunnies in his way can muster.
* BossArenaIdiocy: The minigun operators in ''5.2'', due to Smoke's mistake. He defends himself with a bullet-proof shield while the minigun is setting up, and drops it when he flees into an elevator, allowing Dust to use it in turn to save himself from the first few volleys and shoot one of the minigun crew in the head.
* BitterSweetEnding: The fourth episode. [[spoiler:Snowball defeats Flint, but not before Flint kills Ruby. [[WordOfGod Mottis]] said she would likely come back if enough people liked her, though.]]
* BladeBrake: Done a total of 3 times by Dust in ''5.2'': once to stop himself from falling off a truck into the street, twice to slow down a car.
* BottomlessMagazines: {{Averted|Trope}} with a vengeance - if it needs bullets, it needs reloading. ''5.1'' even has a moment during Snowball and Dust's fight where ''both'' of them run out of ammo for their respective weapons at the same time, and both have to spend a moment rapidly reloading before reengaging each other.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:Dust in ''5'', courtesy of Sludge's PsychoSerum. He snaps out of it only after [[DeadSidekick killing Snowball]]]].
* ButtMonkey: Professor Sludge, who goes down like a complete chump in both of his appearances.
* ChaseFight: The latter half of ''5.2'', on a highway. And it is awesome.
* CallBack: The death of the two ninjas in the fifth episode is the same as in the first: [[spoiler: the first is stabbed by his friend, the second gets stabbed with two swords, then lifted bodily up to slide further down.]]
** The second ninja uses teleport spam similar to what Smoke used in 1 and what Snowball himself used during his SuperMode in 4. [[spoiler: Snowball knows the trick by now and correctly guesses where the next strike will come from.]]
* CoolShades: Smoke is never seen without his blue sunglasses. [[spoiler: They're all that's left of him in 5.2 after Dust is done with him, letting off one last shine before getting minced by a helicopter.]]
* CoolSword: Snowball and Dust always get their hands on these: Snowball's trusty katana in 1, 4 and 5, Dust's several katana in 2 (one of which Snowball takes), the lightsabers (including Dust's DoubleWeapon) in 3), and of course Dust's awesome SwissArmyWeapon in 5. Smoke, who normally prefers [[OneHandedIsCool handguns]], uses a [[ShoutOut purple lightsaber]] in 3, and Flint summons katanas with a thought in 4.
%%* ClicheStorm: InUniverse: ''Bunny Kill 4'' is an intentional example.
* DeadSidekick: If Snowball is partnered up with someone in a ''Bunnykill'' flash, chances are they will be dead by the time the flash is over.
** Smoke is killed by Dust in ''3'' after a battle reminiscent of Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan vs. Darth Maul from ''Film/ThePhantomMenace''.
** Ruby is killed by Flint in ''4'', taking the shuriken for Snowball and triggering the mother of all {{Unstoppable Rage}}s in Snowball.
** ''5'' looked like it would be going this way too, only for [[spoiler:Snowball himself to end up as this for Dust, who recovers from being BrainwashedAndCrazy only after killing him]].
* DeathIsCheap: Thanks to the AlternateContinuity, characters killed in one episode can come back in another.
* DecoyProtagonist: [[spoiler:Snowball himself in episode 5]].
* {{Determinator}}: The robot walker from the third episode that chases Snowball for most of the animation, and Dust throughout the entire second half of ''5''..
%%* DiabolusExNihilo: Dust in ''3''.
* DoubleWeapon: Dust in ''3'' wields a double-bladed lightsaber reminiscent of [[Film/ThePhantomMenace Darth Maul]]. Ruby in ''4'' wields a double-bladed staff.
* DrivenToSuicide: One mook in 3 who is sleeping on the job wakes up and finds that Snowball has killed everyone he is stationed with. He proceeds to shoot himself.
* DualWielding: Most anyone who uses a melee weapon has a chance of pulling this trope. Snowball in particular is pretty much guaranteed to mow down {{Mooks}} faster and take down EliteMooks in the next few moments once he gets his hands on two [[KatanasAreJustBetter katanas]].
* EliteMooks: The ninjas in ''1'', agents in ''2'', the jetpack duo in ''3'', the red ninjas in ''4'', and the invisible teleporting bunnies in ''5''.
** Every installment after the first has darker grey bunnies that are slightly more competent and better-armed compared to basic Mooks.
* ExplodingBarrels: Prevalent throughout ''5'' but only utilized on a few occasions.
* FacePalm: One of the ninja EliteMooks in ''4'' does this after giving a katana to a basic mook and sending them to fight Snowball, only for the mook to die after about two seconds.
* ForScience: Professor Sludge's entire character, according to the credits for ''5.2''.
* FlashStep: Various forms of short-range teleportation are used in the fourth installment; Flint even uses the pose of [[Manga/DragonBall Goku's Instant Transmission]]. Smoke can also do this in Bunnykill 1, leading to a TeleportSpam move that reduces Snowball to YouCanBarelyStand.
* FluffyTheTerrible: The main character is a OneManArmy named "Snowball."
* FriendOrFoe: Snowball and Ruby fall into this when they run into each other in Episode 4. As anyone in the ''[=Bunnykill=]'' world that stands out amongst [[InexplicablyIdenticalIndividuals the endless mooks]] tends to be a dangerous [[EliteMook elite enemy]][[labelnote:context]]In this case, Snowball even looks like he's the leader of the mook group that surrounds her when she shows up, being a different color, having more weapons, and looking like he's standing by them[[/labelnote]] or a boss fight, both of them could be forgiven for immediately attacking each other.
* FuumaShuriken: Lots of them get thrown around in ''4''. Mainly by Flint, [[HyperspaceArsenal who can pull an infinite supply of them from thin air]].
* GatlingGood: Or not so good, as two mooks find out when they only manage to [[spoiler: stall Dust long enough for Smoke to escape to the helicopter on the roof. Smoke would have made a clean escape if the minigun's feeding belt hadn't jammed.]]
* GiantMook: There's a giant bunny in the first episode.
%%* {{Gorn}}: It ''was'' inspired by ''WebAnimation/MadnessCombat'', after all.
* GrotesqueCute: The series features adorable anthropomorphic bunnies getting messily butchered.
* TheGuardsMustBeCrazy: {{ZigZagged|Trope}} in 5.1, where some of the mooks do rather stupid things like not sounding an immediate alarm at something suspicious like a grappling hook on the side of the building or gunshots, but others will investigate and move in groups, keep alert upon finding a dead comrade, and are rightfully paranoid when they turn around to see that a comrade who's supposed to be standing there no longer is.
%%* GunAndSword: Snowball, on occasion.
* TheGunslinger: Smoke, who shows a marked preference for revolvers and guns over melee weapons.
%%* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: well, bunny. But it happens.
* HarsherInHindsight: Invoked. Snowball's final line in the credits of ''5.2'' is "Heroes never die." Wow.
* HelicopterBlender:
%%** [[spoiler: Smoke's ultimate end in ''5.2''.]]
** The helicopter blades damage several cars and shred the underbelly of a cargo truck without slowing down, constantly chasing the truck through several tunnels without crashing.
* HeroesPreferSwords: Given a choice between a sword and any other weapon, Snowball will go for the sword.
* ImperialStormtrooperMarksmanshipAcademy: For the most part, actually averted. Almost all the mooks are actually good shots with their weaponry, and Snowball has to keep moving while focusing on ParryingBullets if he can't dodge. At worst, they shoot where he was a half-second ago.
%%* ImpossiblyCoolWeapon: Dust's katana-shotgun thing in ''5''.
* InvisibilityCloak: Used by a pair of EliteMooks in ''5''.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: They're the only swords to appear (other than lightsabers in ''3''). Additionally, Snowball seems to favor katanas more than just about any other weapon.
* KickTheDog: Flint in killing Ruby, Snowball's only LoveInterest thus far.
** Smoke gets one in ''5'' by [[spoiler:activating the PsychoSerum injector, turning Dust BrainwashedAndCrazy and ultimately leading to Snowball's death. Leaving his own partner to be killed by the aforementioned Dust was also a serious dick move.]] He's also a ''colossal'' dick to his mooks in the second half, deliberately shoving them into the way of his pursuer to save his own hide.
** Anytime Snowball kills a surrendering or fleeing mook.
%%* KillerRabbit: Well, ''duh''. Check the [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin title.]]
* LaserBlade: The standard sword in ''Bunnykill 3'' is a lightsaber.
** In ''5'', the cyborg ninjas have laser blades that don't seem as reliable, and other EliteMooks sometimes carry stun batons that glow just like a LaserBlade.
* LoveAtFirstPunch: Snowball and Ruby's first encounter starts with them crossing blades, but by the time they part ways they're clearly falling for each other.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Some of the mooks in ''5'' use police shields. [[KleptomaniacHero Naturally, Snowball steals one, as does Dust]].
%%* MadScientist: Professor Sludge, with this being his only character trait asides from understandable cowardice.
%%* MasterSwordsman: Snowball and Dust.
* MechaMooks: Third episode includes robot bunnies among the mooks.
* MilkyWhiteEyes: Dust sports a pair of white eyes, in marked contrast to all other rabbits having black eyes. [[spoiler:In ''5'', they're a sign that he's BrainwashedAndCrazy.]]
* MixAndMatchWeapon: Dust's weapon in ''5'' is a sword with a gun built in that fires what appears to be high-caliber rifle rounds.
* MookChivalry: For the most part, averted. The vast majority of enemies in the episodes will dogpile on Snowball or his allies with every fighter and weapon they have, and coordinate their attacks with varying degrees of competence or failure.
* MookHorrorShow: Two examples in ''Bunnykill 5''. In Volume 1, the first two ninjas seem to run the course of a short revenge flick, with one accidentally killing the other thanks to Snowball's dodging, and the dying one passing their sword to the other to give them a better shot. In Volume 2, a SWAT bunny loses an arm and spends the entire next scene trying to stumble away from Dust's rampage, with Minions actively trying to help them get away. [[spoiler: Both situations end badly, with the second ninja getting stabbed by Snowball with their ally's sword, and the SWAT Bunny meeting a death by firing squad that'd make Robocop feel lucky, courtesy of Dust using them as a meat shield.]]
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:Dust, after killing Snowball]] in ''5''.
%% * NeckSnap: Snowball does it in ''5.''
* NeverFoundTheBody: The instant the unknown figure in ''5.2'' gets this from Flint concerning Dust's vehicular death, GenreSavvy kicks in and they immediately command Flint to get the hell out from where they are. Sure enough, Dust shows up the next moment and murders Flint before threatening the one who set up the whole scheme.
* NoEnding: Shortly after announcing the series' cancellation, Motis claimed that he was "never going to continue the story" after Episode 5; the next planned animation -- Episode 5.3 -- was a prequel, and then NegativeContinuity would have taken over as usual for Episode 6.
* NonActionGuy: Professor Sludge. Sadly, he's in a WorldOfBadass, so of all the named characters he tends to die the quickest after appearing in person.
* NotQuiteSavedEnough: One mook in episode 5 part 2 who gets his arm ripped off by Dust manages to escape for a few moments while Dust tends to his colleagues. Dust even lets him live once said colleagues are dead. Unfortunately for him, Dust ends up needing to use him as a [[HumanShield Bunny Shield.]]
* NotTheFallThatKillsYou: Dust falls god-knows-how many stories off the roof of a building after missing Smoke's helicopter, and all that happens is he lands on top of a truck, and keeps going. The ending implies he broke several ribs.
* OneManArmy: Snowball, obviously. The other named rabbits (asides from Dr. Sludge) are guaranteed to be at the same caliber.
* PlayingWithSyringes: What Professor Sludge and Smoke were doing to Dust in ''5''. [[spoiler:And the syringe was full of PsychoSerum.]]
* ProfessionalKiller: Everybody except Professor Sludge.
* ReliablyUnreliableGuns: A jam in the minigun is what [[spoiler: gives Dust the chance to take it out and catch up to Smoke]] in ''5.2''.
** TruthInTelevision; if a belt-fed gun is crew-operated, it's crew-operated for this very reason. Someone has to make sure the belt doesn't twist and cause a jam.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Following [[spoiler:Snowball's death]] in the climax of the first half of ''5'', [[spoiler:Dust]] goes on one hell of a rampage in the second half, [[spoiler:and kills not only Smoke, but Flint, who it turns out was behind the PsychoSerum thing in the first place and deliberately sent Snowball to his death on the orders of an as-of-yet unnamed figure. And Dust is going after ''him'' next!]]
%%* ScaryShinyGlasses: Flint.
%%* SceneryPorn: The city backgrounds in ''5''.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Practically Smoke's entire MO throughout ''5'' - he sets the PsychoSerum to inject Dust, then promptly abandons Sludge to be his first victim immediately afterward. He also gets a moment where his elevator stops right where Dust [[OhCrap just finished rampaging through a horde of mooks]], and he starts rapidly slamming the elevator button to shut the door a split second before Dust can gut him.
* SequelEscalation: The very first animation is just Snowball fighting a random band of enemies in a forest. Each flash escalates the stakes and body count of each episode.
* ShoutOut: ''Bunnykill'' engages in quite numerous shoutouts on occasion. ''3'' has the lightsabers, ''4'' has one to ''VideoGame/KillerInstinct'', and the Dragon Shrine showdown in ''4'' has several to shounen anime and fighting games, such as Flint's [[Manga/{{Naruto}} shadow clone jutsu]] and [[Franchise/StreetFighter Gen's Zetsuei Ultra]], and Snowball going into a [[Anime/DragonBallZ Super Saiyan-like state]] after [[spoiler:Flint kills Ruby]], complete with fireball moves and even [[VideoGame/TheKingOfFighters Rugal's Genocide Cutter]].
** 5 has several to VideoGame/MetalGear: The intro with codec screen, hiding in boxes, the exclamation mark warning...
* TheSmurfettePrinciple: Ruby is the only female character in the series.
* SociopathicHero: Snowball displays no emotional reaction to the massive body counts that he or his allies make, and has no issues with using mooks as [=meatshields=] or horribly maim them.
* SpontaneousWeaponCreation: Flint can summon all kinds of weapons at will in ''4''. He's also a MultiMeleeMaster that's good with all of them.
%%* StabTheScorpion: How Smoke becomes Snowball's ally in ''3''.
* StockScream: Wilhelm joins the FBI in ''5 part 2''.
* TheStoic: Flint. He fights, [[spoiler:kills Ruby, and even ''dies'']] with the same level of calmness.
* SwissArmyWeapon: Dust's [[ShotgunsAreJustBetter shotgun]]-[[KatanasAreJustBetter katana]] in ''5''.
* SuperMode: Snowball's "White Avenger" mode, which is seen by many as a ShoutOut to ''Anime/DragonBallZ'' 's Super Saiyans.
** Fighting game fans may also see references to the [[Franchise/StreetFighter Satsui No Hadou]] and the [[VideoGame/TheKingOfFighters Orochi power]]. It's a strange mixture.
* SuddenlySpeaking: Until ''5'', no one spoke, except for rare instances where "conversations" were staged using speech bubbles and pictures. Flint, Snowball, [[spoiler:Dust, and an unknown person]], are all given lines in ''5'', albeit only on a video chat device (and no voice actors).
* TakingTheBullet: Well, taking the shuriken in ''Bunny Kill 4''.
* TakingYouWithMe: One red ninja attempts this after being shot with an arrow by Snowball. It doesn't work, but he gets points for trying.
* TheseHandsHaveKilled: Dust [[spoiler:does this in ''5'' immediately after snapping out of his BrainwashedAndCrazy state and realizing he's just killed Snowball.]]
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: [[spoiler: The final kill of ''5''? Dust chucks his ImpossiblyCoolWeapon at Smoke, [[ImpaledWithExtremePrejudice impaling him]] and sending him [[HelicopterBlender falling into the spinning rotors of his own helicopter.]]]]
%%* [[spoiler:TheManBehindTheMan: Flint and the mysterious figure that he answers to in ''5''.]]
%% (Zero-context + Trope-slashing isn't allowed)* [[spoiler:TreacherousAdvisor[=/=]TreacherousQuestgiver: Flint in ''5'']]
* UnstoppableRage: Snowball unleashes the fury in ''4'' when Flint crosses the line.
** As does [[spoiler:Dust]] throughout the second half of ''5'' in response to [[spoiler:Snowball's death]].
* TheVoiceless: Everybody. Some get quotes during the credits, though, and Smoke speaks to Snowball with simple pictures in thought balloons.
** Averted thrice in ''5'''. During the intro, characters have text dialogue; and at the climax, a character actually gives a voiced scream ([[spoiler: Dust breaking out of the PsychoSerum trance]]) and in the 2nd half one of the mooks performs the [[StockScream Wilhelm Scream]] [[spoiler: during the highway chase in the finale]].
* WhamEpisode: Episode 5 turns the series formula right on its head by [[spoiler:having ''Snowball'' killed for the first time in the entire series, and subsequently the first episode where Snowball ultimately isn't the main protagonist.]]
* WhiteBunny: The aptly named [[TheHero Snowball]].
* WilhelmScream: Let out by a mook during the ChaseFight scene between [[spoiler:Dust and Smoke]].
* WorldOfBadass: Professor Sludge is the only character, named ''or unnamed'', who isn't a fighter. And ''he's'' a MadScientist.
