''Battlefield Friends'' is an animated series by Creator/HankAndJed chronicling the adventures of a group of four players and their [[HilarityEnsues misadventures]] in the video game series, ''VideoGame/{{Battlefield}}''. The humor of the series primarily revolves around [[InJoke In Jokes]] related to ''Battlefield'''s multiplayer, from the difficulty of accurately controlling helicopters to GameBreaker weapons such as the USAS 12 with frag rounds.

While Seasons 1 - 3 takes place in ''VideoGame/{{Battlefield 3}}'', they eventually they move onto ''VideoGame/{{Battlefield 4}}'' in Season 4, where the group tackles the game's notoriously buggy beginnings, to other common gameplay related issues like frequently stuck vehicles, more overpowered weapons and even try out some Easter Eggs. In Season 5, the crew entered the 'cops-n-robbers' world of ''VideoGame/{{Battlefield Hardline}}'', the episodes switching back and forth between ''[=BF4=]'' and ''Hardline'' fortnightly. However by Season 6, the episodes focused back onto ''[=BF4=]'' shenanigans.

The series went into hiatus following Season 6, missing out the coverage of ''VideoGame/Battlefield1'' (though it was referenced in the Season 6 finale) and ''VideoGame/BattlefieldV''. For a while, most of the Battlefield Friends episodes (Season 3-6 specifically, 1-2 were uploaded onto Hank And Jed's channel) became privatized on Website/YouTube while they were under the Machinima channel, but Hank And Jed have regained the rights to it from Machinima and have uploaded the episodes on their gaming channel Neebs Gaming (Series playlist ''[[https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL1Uou2DWH7IHyWIslDFXqjy9bj5fpcsT7 here]]'').

During the marketing of ''VideoGame/Battlefield2042'', Neebs Gaming hinted the return of the Battlefield Friends series, with an [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSsc1K27gek animated teaser]] dropping on October 13, 2021. The new episode dropped on [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P1AG7wG-oew February 14, 2022]], covering the team's shenanigans with ''Battlefield 2042''.

!!''Battlefield Friends'' contains the following tropes:

* {{Angrish}}: From most of the characters at times (generally a result of the Noob's actions), but especially the Engineer.
* AngryBlackManStereotype: During "[=BF1=] Hype Train", Medic is, rather justifiably, extremely cross with Simon's roleplay of a Confederate soldier when the latter confuses UsefulNotes/WorldWarI with the UsefulNotes/AmericanCivilWar.
--> '''Medic:''' [[TranquilFury *quietly, but full of anger*]] "I'm 'bout to kill a motherfucker."
* ArtificialStupidity: The bots that populate the ''Battlefield 2042'' solo servers, with bots standing still or driving vehicles into obstacles. Noob, in said solo server, [[CaptainOblivious doesn't notice the difference]].
* AscendedFanboy: The entire crew of [=BFF=]s actually get lines and background speaking roles in ''Battlefield 4's'' promotional material as well as a campaign EasterEgg. As seen [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0suhSBCbGQg here]].
** In ''VideoGame/{{Battlefield Hardline}}'':
*** In the [=DLC=] map ''Museum'', triggering a random bust's secret button changes the exhibit's audio voiceovers to that of Noob and Engineer's, usually flubbing lines or commenting on the script itself.
*** The song "Jeep Stuff", written and sung by the noob, is one of the vehicle radio tracks in multiplayer mode
*** In the [=DLC=] map ''Break Pointe'', hitting or shooting at a closed toilet door triggers a series of lines yelled by the Noob. This easter egg is itself referenced in a later episode of [=BFF=]s
*** In the map ''Night Job'', triggering the interact button on a mobile phone results in the usual lines being yelled from the PA system of a circling police helicopter ("come out with your hands up" etc) being replaced with an argument between the mechanic and the noob as to who gets to fly the chopper
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3yQFnvAvt4 DICE also included a couple of references in the Christmas Special for 2014]] including renaming C4 to "Jeep Stuff" and putting it in a gift wrap with the label "J. Stuff: To: Neebs".
* AudibleSharpness: Knives always make the traditional "metal on metal" sound when drawn.
* ATeamFiring: Any time the Noob tries to shoot anything. Comes to a head in the episode "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQw65XZ9Tm8&list=PL1DD2991C3D415547&index=23 Noob Fight]]".
* BackFromTheDead: In the 2021 teaser, Noob represents the return of the Battlefield Friends by escaping his burial in a graveyard (with Colonel's help).
* BadassBandolier: Anyone using the Support class (on the US team) wears huge belts of ammo around their neck like a scarf, as the class does in ''Battlefield 3''. The Badass part, however, only really applies to Colonel, since the other two who consistently use the class are Noob and Simon.
** Sadly gone as of "Brokenfield" and the switch to ''Battlefield 4's'' new character models.
* BadassBoast: Colonel gets a few.
** From "Little Bird Battle":
--> '''Colonel:''' I AM THE BATTLEFIELD!
** From Stingers
--> '''Colonel:''' Ammo's for'' '''nancies'''.'' *pulls out knife*
* BaitAndSwitch: In "Closet Colonel", Medic takes a moment to reassure Closet Colonel that he has no reason to be ashamed from other jealous players of his Colonel Level 100 skills in the game and should wear it with pride.
--> '''Closet Colonel:''' Really?... you think it's just jealous?
--> '''Medic:''' Oh fuck no, no you're a fucking loser man, get a life.
* BasementDweller: The Colonel insists that being one of these is the only way to be as good as he is at ''Battlefield''.
* BeyondTheImpossible: Amongst absolutely everything else he can do, the Colonel is also, somehow, able to play games of ''Hardline'' and ''[=BF4=]'' '''''simultaneously.'''''
* BladeEnthusiast: The Colonel, hands down. He practically kills '''EVERYTHING''' with it.
--> '''Colonel:''' I've just unlocked the ''bipod'' on my knife.
* BloodyHilarious: Serious gore is normally avoided for most of the series, but a RunningGag in [=SUAV=] involves Recon getting doused in ever increasing quantities of Noob's blood, to Medic and Engineer's endless amusement.
* {{Bookends}}: Season 6 starts with Engineer playing ''[=BF4=]'' alone and calling for Noob, Recon, and Medic to come play with him. Season 6 ends with Medic, Recon, and Noob leaving to play the upcoming ''[[VideoGame/Battlefield1 BF1]]'', with Engineer deciding to stay behind in ''[=BF4=]''.
* BraggingRightsReward: Invoked in the episode "Phantom Bow", where Ammo Guy chastise Recon and Engineer for unlocking the bow easily from a weapon cache while he earned the bow by completing all of the necessary tasks in the game.[[note]]The original requirement of unlocking the Phantom Bow was to have the ''Final Stand'' DLC map "Hangar 21" and completing a set of "Phantom" assignments that involve getting tens or hundreds of kills with guns or vehicles. They then must equip "Phantom" camo and dog tag set and find the secret "Phantom Room" in the Hangar map. After that, the players must then input code to finally unlock the Phantom bow. This requirement was changed in the ''Community Operations'' DLC released one year later, where players can simply find a weapon cache hidden in the ''Operation Outbreak'' map and picking up the bow from this cache permanently unlocks the weapon for the player.[[/note]]
* BreatherEpisode: "Close Quarters" for the Noob, as he skimps out on the battle to admire the beauty and scenery of the map, especially all the artistic details, while the rest of the team engages in a tense firefight.
* BullyingADragon: Noob seems to be under the impression that it's a good idea to make fun of a guy in an attack chopper because he isn't laying down enough "impressive fire".
* BuriedAlive: What appears to have happened to the Battlefield Friends when the series went into hiatus. The four are seen buried in a graveyard and alive in the teaser, with Colonel digging up Noob.
* CallingYourAttacks: Admin, who calls out whatever power he's decided to abuse today.
* CallBack: Noob's (lack of) proficiency with a helicopter always get noted after his disastrous performance in "First Flight", the ''very first episode'' of the series.
** In Season 4's "Brokenfield", Medic asks how Engineer's internet connection is after he complains about connectivity and net code issues with ''[=BF4=]'', referring to Season 2's "Team Bagging" where Engineer suffers serious lag issues.
** In Season 5's "[=BF4=] or Hardline", Medic gets interrupted in his duty by his ringing telephone, referring to a gag done back in Season 1's "Silent Sniper".
* CarFu: Happens to, and because of, the Noob, quite a bit.
** In "Vehicle Spawn", he employs the infamous "Jihad Jeep" (a Jeep covered in C4 charges), to take out a tank.
** In "They Ruined Battlefield", he gets hit by a jet after an ill-fated recreation of the Rendezook video.
** In "Levelcap", he accidentally runs over Levelcap with an Growler ITV.
** In "Air Superiority", he Jet Rams, which is exactly what it sounds like.
** In "Teamspeak", [[spoiler: he, along with Engineer and Recon, gets a helicopter dropped on him after he [[BullyingADragon taunts the pilot.]]]]
** In "Blood Money", the crew accidentally runs down a nearby enemy criminal with their squad car while distracted (in an argument with the Noob).
* ClusterFBomb: Arguments may end up being this, but most notably in "Hardline [=RPG=]'s", the enemy team is seen using the word 'motherfucker' in ''every'' sentence.
* ColonelBadass: The Level 100 Colonel is this to the Battlefield Friends, killing the enemy with extreme ease.
* [[ComplainingAboutShowsYouDontWatch Complaining About Games You Don't Play]]: In "[=BF4=] or Hardline", Recon attempts to convince Old Codger to play ''Hardline'', with the latter lambasting it as "overpriced DLC".
--> '''Recon:''' D-did you play it?
--> '''Old Codger:''' No I didn't played it!
--> '''Recon:''' Then how can you judge it?!
--> '''Old Codger:''' Because I just know!
* DeathIsNotPermanent: As this series play in the ''Battlefield'' universe, the characters occasionally get killed fighting the enemy team, but can just as easily respawn back to life.
* TheDitz: The Noob, unsurprisingly.
* DramaticIrony: Played for laugh in the episode "Kill Cam", where Colonel relates to the one time he was killed in ''[=BF3=]'' and surmise that the person who was able to kill him must be a "master of ''Battlefield''". He then teams up with Noob to hunt down the players who killed them. However, the person who killed Colonel was Noob via C4 during the episode "Transport Chopper".
* TheDreaded: Colonel, whose mere presence causes enemies who outnumber him eight to one to [[OhCrap flee for their lives.]]
** The BFF's reaction to him [[spoiler: landing on their transport chopper is to simply [[MookHorrorShow scream in mindless terror as he cuts them down.]]]]
* DrivenToSuicide: Played For Laughs, since the ''Battlefield'' series respawns dead players at pre-selected locations with resupplied equipment, the Battlefield Friends often use "Suicide" option to move to an objective point faster or restock their empty supplies.
* DoubleEntendre: The way Engineer refers to the PP-29 in "Worst Launch Ever".
--> '''Engineer:''' What did you do to my Pee-Pee?!
* DynamicEntry: The Colonel has a habit of appearing either by parachute (usually after ''knifing'' an aerial vehicle), or just landing onto things out of the blue.
* [[EveryoneHasStandards Even the Noob Has Standards]]: Not even the Noob [[spoiler: likes VideoGame/CallOfDuty]].
** Simon is deeply uncomfortable having to roleplay a racist Confederate soldier.
** In "Hardline [=RPG=]", Engineer temporarily breaks from his high on overpowered weapon when Ammo Guy and Recon reveal that a RPG one-shot kills even fully upgraded vehicle, with Engineer questioning why the developers would design the game like that. Doesn't stop him from using the RPG though.
* ExhaustedEyeBags: The ammo guy has this as part of his design from the moment he was introduced.
** Noob gains these in "Boosting" after "driving for days" in an objective car to gain cash.
** The ''Battlefield 2042'' Patch Guy also has this from the extensive fixes he has to make to the game's bugs and glitches.
* {{Flanderization}}: The Noob has rapidly gone from being merely inexperienced at the game to astoundingly stupid and disconnected with reality. Not that this [[LampshadeHanging hasn't gone unnoticed...]]
--> '''Engineer:''' I feel like he's actually getting worse!
** In the opposite direction, Colonel has gone from a disturbingly obsessed Battlefield player to some sort of PhysicalGod or HumanoidAbomination, [[GameBreaker capable of shattering fundamental gameplay aspects on a whim.]]
** Noob's descent into complete idiocy is even more noticeable in "Recon C4", where he doesn't even know the name of the titular item. Rewind to "Scavenger", two seasons previous, and he clearly mentions that he can't find his C4 charges.
* FiveSecondForeshadowing: In "Worst Launch Ever", we see Noob killing enemies with suffixes indicating they are bots right before the reveal that Noob is ([[CaptainOblivious obliviously]]) in a Solo Server filled with [[ArtificialStupidity easy-to-kill bots]].
* FourTemperamentEnsemble
** Sanguine: Medic
** Choleric: Engineer
** Phlegmatic: The Noob
** Leukine: Recon
* FreezeFrameBonus: A recurring character, Bunny Sniper ([[ShapedLikeItself a Recon with bunny ears]], referencing the gaming term 'bunny-hopping'), can be seen skipping around the background in most of the episodes.
** In "Blood Money", [[ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney The Admin's]] face can be seen on the 100 dollar bills.
* FunWithAcronyms: TUGS (Tactical Unmanned Ground Sensor), SLAM (Selectable Lightweight Attack Munition) and SUAV (Scout Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) all get discussed and form the titles of several episodes.
** Such acronyms play hell with the Noob's comprehension, such as when he thinks the S in TUGS makes it plural, or when he learns what a SLAM is.
--> '''Engineer:''' Yeah, Selectable Lightweight Attack Munitions, d'you have those?
--> '''Noob:''' ...what is he saying?
--> '''Recon:''' *weakly* It... was an acronym and he just described to you what is stands for.
* FunnyBackgroundEvent: Several, such as a piloting Noob and his [[DrivesLikeCrazy less-than-adequate flying skills]], the abovementioned Bunny Sniper hopping about, or just the general mayhem commonly seen in the games.
** In "Livestreaming", the MCOM station's screen actually changes colour in between a scene, indicating that someone activated it while the crew was distracted by the Noob's livestreaming antics.
** In "One Good Match", towards the end of the episode after Recon parachutes down a building on Zavod 311, Noob can be briefly seen falling to the ground behind Recon after he lands, with the kill feed showing that Noob dies from the impact.
* TheGadfly: The title character from "PC Elitist", who gets a kick out of riling up his teammates by insulting the platform they're playing on.
** He returns in "Rainbow Sixer" to evangelize and proselytize his Battlefield-playing compatriots on the good word of VideoGame/RainbowSixSiege, again to their considerable annoyance.
* GameBreakingBug: Frequently a subject of derision, especially prevalent in Season 4 with the switch to ''Battlefield 4'' and its [[invoked]] [[ObviousBeta notoriously bug-riddled multiplayer]]. In fact, this is the entire premise of the premier episode "Brokenfield". This returns again when the series focus on ''Battlefield 2042'', with various bugs referenced in the episode "Worst Launch Ever".
* GilliganCut: In "One Good Match", after a long motivational speech by Medic about how they ''shouldn't'' just switch servers and continue fighting on despite their losing streak, the scene immediately cuts to Zavod 311's loading screen, indicating they switched servers.
* AGodAmI: The Engineer frequently lapses into this, such as when he discovers the power of the [[GameBreaker USAS 12 with frag rounds]] or the Stinger lock-on missile.
-->"[=AHAHAHAHAHAH! I AM A GOD, HOLDING THE RPGS OF JUSTICE=]!"
* GoKartingWithBowser: In "Noob Fight", the US squad (containing the Battlefield Friends) and a RU squad avoid fighting to watch their respective noobs [[ATeamFiring duke it out with machine guns]].
** In "Boosting", the criminal faction containing the [[ShapedLikeItself criminals]] and the police faction with the ''Battlefield Friends'' set aside fighting to easily earn cash in the boosting server.
* HellIsThatNoise: The chaotic mess of a Teamspeak voice chat. It's so bad, [[spoiler:[[YourHeadAsplode Medic's head detonates]] from listening in for a few seconds.]]
* HellishCopter: [[spoiler:How the [=BFFs=] die at the end of "Teamspeak".]]
* HiddenDepths: Noob has at least some degree of skill in entomology and art appreciation.
** Noob seems to also have a great internet connection set-up, with the episode "Team Bagging" implying he has never experienced lag.
** And despite his [[KnowNothingKnowItAll obtuse attitude]], he has some awareness of how bad he is at ''Battlefield'', given his [[SleepDeprivation sleep-deprived]] speaking of forgetting specific gadget slots in "Boosting".
** From what little we've seen of his room, Recon is a musician who specializes in acoustic guitar.
** Despite Engineer's ''constant'' shouting and bickering at Noob, Engineer calls him first when asking for someone to play with.
* HisNameReallyIsBarkeep: Most of the main characters are named in the series after their in-game class, with "Medic", "Engineer", and "Recon" in ''[=BF3=]'' and ''[=BF4=]'' and "Operator", "Mechanic", and "Professional" in ''[=BF:Hardline=]''. The only exception is Noob, who is always referred as such.
** This is subverted in supplementary material that reveals each character has their own usernames.
* HypocriticalHumor: Noob routinely insults other players by calling them noobs.
** In "Hardline [=RPGs=]", Ammo Guy says anyone using the (overpowered) [=RPG=] is ruining the game... while holding onto a [=RPG=].
* InJoke: Much of the humor simply doesn't make sense unless you've played ''Battlefield 3'', ''Battlefield 4'' and/or ''Hardline''.
** That said, you'll probably pick up on some of the game mechanics simply by watching the show alone, even if you never played Battlefield even once.
** With ''Battlefield 2042's'' episode "Worst Launch Ever", the humor begins to extend to press releases and developer comments on social media.
* InkSuitActor: Level Cap appears as himself at one point. He returns in both "Spawn Kill" and "[=YouTube=] Gamer", along with a whole host of other fans.
* InsistentTerminology: Noob absolutely refuses to refer to C4 as anything but "Jeep Stuff", a neologism none of his comrades are willing to even entertain. Bizarrely, while he knows what the different classes of primary weapons are (assault rifles, shotguns, etc.), he unerringly refers to the one he's holding as a "big gun" and his pistol is his "little gun".
--> '''Noob:''' ..."What is your favorite gun?" I'd have to say my favorite is *produces an M27* the Big Gun, followed by *draws his M1911* the Little Gun.
** The final punchline to "Grenade Spawn" gives us his term for ExplosiveBarrels: [[spoiler:Redeploy Barrels.]]
** In "Boosting", Engineer/Mechanic and Noob are insistent that they are in a "Quick Level-Up Noob-Friendly Big Money" server. Recon/Professional quickly points out that they are in a "boosting" server.
* InstantCostumeChange: Whenever the characters use a different class to what they usually play as, their wardrobe changes accordingly to that of the class's. Interestingly, this also happens whenever any character swap out loadouts on the fly, even though this doesn't actually happen in the games.
* JarPotty: The Colonel and the Closet Colonel both use a "shitbucket," which is ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin.
* JerkAss: Engineer can be quite the douche if he's got his hands on a power weapon.
* JustAStupidAccent: Anyone on the Russian team simply adopts a fairly ludicrous FakeRussian accent, though Noob's stands out as particularly awful. General Zhao in ''[=BF4=]'' has an over-the-top stereotypical Chinese accent during his brief appearance.
** Engineer adopts another hilariously racist facsimile of a Chinese accent when he and Medic end up on the opposite team.
--> '''Engineer:''' Oh no, it looks-a rike we are on-a de Chinese-uh side-uh.
--> '''Medic:''' Knock it off.
--> '''Engineer:''' You don't rike-a de accent, roundeyes?
** And even later in the series:
--> [[spoiler: '''Colonel:''' I've just unlocked the bipod ''for'' my bipod.]]
* LaserGuidedKarma: In the episode "Missile Truck", Medic steals Noob's missile truck as the latter was ineffectively using it inside a building (claiming that leaving the building would [[TemptingFate have the enemy team instantly target and destroy the truck]]). Upon leaving the building to use the missile truck, a tank instantly destroys the missile truck along with Medic, to Noob's vindication.
%%* LimitedAnimation
* LudicrousGibs: A lone enemy Chinese engineer is annihilated ''right down to his bones'' waist up, by Engineer's [[{{BFG}} Railgun]]. His intestines can be seen ejecting from his ribs while blood messily covers the rest of the corpse!
* MagicalDefibrillator: As part of the ''Battlefield'' game mechanics, the medic class' defibrillator instantly brings back dead characters back to life. This game mechanic gets its own episode with "Revive" where Noob repeatedly brings Engineer back to life, only for him to get killed as soon as he returns.
* MilitaryAlphabet: One of the RunningGag of the show is Noob constantly messing up or not knowing the Military/Phonetic alphabet of the letters. Some of the names he gives the letters are "Carrot" for C and "Elvis" for E.
** In an inverted version of the gag, Simon not knowing the letters of the military alphabet. In the episode "Icicle Knife":
--> '''Simon:''' [...] I'm gonna go, I'm gonna go. Bravo.
--> '''Recon:''' Bravo.
--> '''Simon:''' What letter is that?
--> '''Recon:''' [[YouHaveGotToBeKiddingMe Seriously?]]
* MistakenForRacist: Noob, in "Recon C4", says he'd "..expect [stealing my stuff] from Medic, but from you?!" Medic, who is black, reacts indignantly, and the following conversation ensues:
--> '''Medic:''' ...the ''fuck'' is that supposed to mean?!
--> '''Noob:''' You're always stealing my kills with your overpowered rifles!
--> '''Medic:''' ...oh, oh I though you were... never mind.
* MobileShrubbery: Recon gains a ghillie suit in the recent episode "Worst Launch Ever" with ''Battlefield 2042'' as his new design is based on the Specialist Wikus "Casper" Van Daele.
* MoodWhiplash: Played for laughs in "Close Quarters", as the focus rapidly flips between chaotic, nonstop gunfire and screaming, and the Noob serenely taking in the beauty of the environment.
* MookHorrorShow: Recon, Engineer, and Medic experience this in "Transport Chopper" when the [[ColonelBadass Colonel]] in the enemy team lands on their airborne helicopter and takes each of them out with his knife.
* MoreDakka: The Noob's class, Support, carries an LMG, so this frequently happens, generally combined with ATeamFiring.
* NoNameGiven: The other noob's name is Simon. Other than that, no characters have ever been given a real name, and are usually referred to by their class.
* NoIndoorVoice: Ammo Guy literally screams every sentence that come out of his mouth.
* {{Noob}}: The Noob, or sometimes called Neebs.
** Simon as well, in a far less ludicrously incompetent way.
* NotTheIntendedUse: In "Grenade Spawn", Noob offers a surprisingly clever alternative use for ExplosiveBarrels. Specifically, [[spoiler: to get around ''Battlefield 4's'' legendary stinginess with resupplying grenades, he commits suicide by shooting them, letting him respawn with a fresh grenade.]]
* OhCrap: Many instances, especially when it involves being on the wrong side of the Colonel's wrath.
** In "TUGS", upon deploying the titular equipment, Recon panics as his map lights up with hostile movement converging on him and Noob. [[spoiler: Promptly turns into an OhCrap for the enemies, as it brings down the wrath of the Colonel on them.]]
** In "Mobile AA", when the Noob tries to fend off a single C4-wielding enemy approaching his Anti-Air tank, but is unable to hit the attacker due to the [[CripplingOverspecialization inaccurate fire of the AA guns on a relatively small target at close range]].
** In "Commander Online", Noob as the team's commander has a massive one, complete with hysterics as the system is hit with a proxy attack, disabling his command ability (albeit temporarily). [[spoiler:The enemy Commander, General Zhao gets one in return when the Colonel suddenly ''breaks into the physically-out-of-play commander seat'' and stabs the General in the head.]]
** In "Underwater", a Russian engineer gets a quite literal one upon hearing the warning sirens of a rather unpleasant level feature being triggered by Recon and Engineer. [[spoiler:It's a [[TheCanKickedHim lethal]] tidal wave of [[ToiletHumor raw sewage]].]]
* OnlySaneMan: Assault and, usually, Recon.
* RaceLift: The Assault was white in the first episode and is black at the end of episode 2. This is yet another InJoke: in ''Battlefield 3'''s beta, the US Assault model was white, but was changed to black in the retail release. Medic doesn't seem to notice when it actually happens.
* RacistGrandma: Old Codger claims that Assault's RaceLift was done to ruin ''Battlefield'', much to Assault and Engineers disgust.
* ReadTheFreakingManual: The Noob clearly never has.
* RealisticDictionIsUnrealistic: Averted. Characters frequently stutter and interrupt each other realistically.
* RealityWarper: The Colonel is this in-game, apparently his shitbucket lifestyle granting him the power to defy conventional gameplay mechanics.
* [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech The 'Reason You Don't Unlock Jeep Stuff' Speech]]: An extremely frustrated Recon give a big one (almost word-for-word) in "Recon C4", which afterwards he apologizes for the uncalled for remark.
--> '''Noob:''' I had one, thing, that I loved to use, and it was called 'jeep stuff'..... and NOW YOU TOOK IT FROM ME!!
--> '''Recon:''' Look, you can unlock it. It's actually the last thing you need to unlock.
--> '''Noob:''' The last thing?
--> '''Recon:''' Yeah.
--> '''Noob:''' Nobody ever unlocks the last thing!
--> '''Recon:''' Of course people unlock the last thing!
--> '''Noob:''' No! Its a pipe dream!
--> '''Recon:''' You don't unlock the last thing '''BECAUSE YOU SUCK!'''
--> '''Noob:''' [[TearJerker *teary eyed*]]
--> '''Recon:''' … I'm sorry...
* DarthWiki/RuinedForever: In-universe, this attitude is embodied by the Old Codger in "They Ruined Battlefield".
-->'''Old Codger:''' Just about every patch is ruined in my book, I tell you that.
* RuleOfFunny: Most of the series doesn't make any sense purely from a gameplay standpoint. If the characters are actually players using voice chat, why would they scream when they get shot? How does the Colonel manage to knife the characters while they're in a helicopter? Why would they stop playing the game just to stand around and talk? RuleOfFunny.
* RummageFail: While attempting to recreate the famous Rendezook video, the Noob pulls an EOD robot instead of his launcher.
** While trying to figure out how to drop ammo, Simon drops C4 directly in front of his face. Noob explains how to detonate the C4 which [[TooDumbTolive Simon immediately does ]], [[spoiler:killing him, the Noob and most of the enemy team, who were [[FunnyBackgroundEvent silently taunting them by throwing [=C4=] on top of them and teabagging.]]]]
** Ammo Guy spends the entirety of "Grenade Spawn" frantically digging through a tiny ammo box in a vain attempt to find a grenade, courtesy of ''Battlefield 4's'' infamous stinginess with restocking them.
* RunningGag: The Noob's (poor) attempts at flying helicopters.
** The Noob's obsession with pulling off a Rendezook.
** The Noob and Simon putting C4 on Jeeps.
** Noob screaming at the top of his lungs whenever he gets promoted.
** The Engineer [[AGodAmI slipping into delusions of grandeur]] whenever he picks up an overpowered weapon.
** The Colonel appearing out of the blue and killing ''anything'' by stabbing it with his knife.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney: Admin, who gleefully abuses the powers afforded him by owning his own server.
-->'''Admin''': Last time I checked my credit card, I can do whatever the hell I want!
* ShoutOut:
** Engineer insults a second noob by calling him "[[Franchise/{{Castlevania}} Simon Belmont]]" at one point, after Simon refers to Point D as "Dracula" instead of "Delta".
** The Noob's EOD bot from "They Ruined Battlefield" looks and sounds like WesternAnimation/WallE, courtesy of a FanNickname for said bots. Noob even refers to it by this name.
** While driving his "jihad jeep", Noob hums the Trololol song.
* ShoutingShooter: ''Constantly''. Pretty much any time someone shoots at full auto for an extended length of time, they'll do this.
** Exaggerated in "Close Quarters", where fully half the episode is Assault, Recon, Engineer and Ammo Guy shooting and screaming nonstop.
* TheSmartGuy: Recon at times. He's [[AcePilot the best pilot of the group]], and is generally seen laying down the strategies for the squad.
* SouthernFriedPrivate: The Noob.
* SpannerInTheWorks: The Noob, frequently to his own teammates, but he does get a couple moments of glory.
** Once decided to camp as Recon with a Support, they were discovered by the enemy team who proceeded to plant C4/Claymores all over them and Tbag them. Noob accidentally got his Support to plant some C4 and detonate it. They killed themselves and wiped out half the enemy team.
** Only character to ever manage killing [[ImplacableMan The Colonel.]] Decided to plant C4 in his teammate's chopper after they pissed him off and bailed. After he left the Colonel showed up, killed everyone, and stole the chop. Cue the [[DidntSeeThatComing Noob detonating his C4]]...
* TakeThat: At the end of "PC Elitist"...
--> '''Medic:''' [[spoiler: I mean, it's not like we're playing ''VideoGame/CallOfDuty'' or some shit.]]
** The 'Youtube Gamer' episode from Season 4 is one towards Youtubers uploading/monetizing gameplay videos, and in this case, it's a clear reference to LetsPlay/PewDiePie, or 'Pumpkin Pie' as the Noob and Simon mistakenly refer to him as, who gets millions of views per video and making lots of money from monetizing ads.
--> '''Engineer:''' Is there seriously a guy out there with like 20 million subscribers from just playing video games?
--> '''Medic:''' There is...
--> '''Engineer:''' That's insane! Why are there that many people out there watching video games?!
--> '''Medic:''' I don't know...
--> '''Engineer:''' Like, what about people that take like weeks to create something awesome like a piece of content?!
** In "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7GX6IEMf7J8 Waiting on a New Game]]" where The Engineer is trying to employ others for a ''[=BF4=]'' game. Noob is playing Battlefront, Recon is playing ''Hardline'', and Medic is...playing a dress up game, which leads to this conversation:
--> '''Engineer:''' Wait... You ain't playing Call of Duty, are ya?
--> '''Medic:''' (While wearing a pink dress and tiara) No... why would...No!
*** [[spoiler: Becomes a full fledged BrickJoke at the end, when Medic [[RuleOfFunny somehow]] forgot to take off the dress and tiara before logging into Battlefield.]]
---> '''Engineer:''' [[spoiler: Woah, what the '''fuck?!''' ...you ''were'' playin' Call of Duty!]]
** The core concept of Twitch Tv gets lampooned mercilessly during "Livestreaming", especially when Engineer puts into words just how ridiculous it sounds on paper.
--> '''Engineer:''' Wh-what is goin' on?! WHY ARE PEOPLE PAYING MONEY TO WATCH HIM PLAY VIDEO GAMES?!?
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: Quoth Engineer, while spitefully but fruitlessly hosing a clueless Noob with his blowtorch, at the end of "[=DICE=] Camo"...
--> '''Engineer:''' *half-sobbing in utter anger* "I '''hate''' you so much... ''why'' are you always in my squad?!"
* TemptingFate: In "Hardline [=RPGs=]", Ammo Guy states that no one is dumb enough to take an objective with all the [=RPGs=] around. Cue Noob...
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: The Noob.
* TheUnfettered: The Colonel, who tells the rest of the players that to be as good as he is, they need to stop working, or having sex, or going to the bathroom, describing these things as 'Time not spent playing ''Battlefield''.'
* TheUnreveal: In "Livestreaming", the Noob is asked by his streamers if he could do a facecam, which he gladly obliges.... [[spoiler:to footage of his exact same, animated self waving though his webcam.]]
* ThrowTheDogABone: While they still face difficulties due to Noob's incompetence, the squad finally win a game in "Heist" once Noob brings the loot to the extraction.
* ViewersAreMorons: [=EA's=] attitude in this regard about whether or not their customers would be familiar at all with the [[UsefulNotes/WorldWarI setting]] of the then-upcoming ''VideoGame/Battlefield1'' is mocked in "[=BF1=] Hype Train" by having Noob and Simon assume it's set during [[UsefulNotes/AmericanCivilWar the Civil War]] and dressing up accordingly.
* VisualPun: Medic casually brags he ran into (and wiped out) a squad of medics who [[{{Nerf}} "didn't get the FAMAS memo"]] with several [[Toys/NerfBrand NERF darts]] stuck to his helmet.
* WeaponBasedCharacterization: The crew uses weapons associated with their respective classes, and due to the LimitedAnimation style, seem to use the same weapons in almost all the episodes. Early episodes in Seasons 1 to 3 seem to regularly depict the team using [=M4A1s=], despite the carbine not being an all-class weapon in ''Battlefield 3'', but in ''Battlefield 4'', they sometimes use carbines as it is available to all classes in that game. The Beretta [=M9=] appears to be their sidearms of choice throughout the series, though Recon has once been seen with a customized version of the [=G17=] in "Scavenger" and sometimes characters are armed with the [=.38 Snub=] revolver in ''[=Hardline=]''.
** Engineer uses both carbines and PDWS. From season 2 onwards, he's been equipped with the [=G36C=] as his primary weapon. In "M2 [=SLAMs=]", the Noob picks up his gun, which is equipped with a foregrip, laser sight, and KOBRA red dot sight. In "S.U.A.V," his weapon is equipped with a sniper scope and suppressor, despite the fact sniper scopes can't be equipped in ''[=BF4=]''. In ''[=Hardline=], he equips the [=MP5K=] sub-machine gun. He's also been seen using a variety of rocket launchers, including the [=MK153 SMAW=], [=FiM92 Stinger=], and [=FGM148 Javelin=].
** Medic uses assault rifles, namely the [=AEK-971=]. However, in some ''[=Hardline=]'' episodes, he equips the [=G36C=].
** Noob uses light machine guns ([[ATeamFiring ineffectively]]), though is not very good at aiming. In ''[=BF3=]'', he switches between the [=M27 IAR=] and [=M249 SAW=]. In ''[=BF4=]'', he trades in both weapons for the [=Ultimax 100 MK5=] light machine gun. Due to the absence of light machine guns to the classes in ''[=Hardline=]'', the Noob arms himself with the [=SA58 OSW=] battle rifle.
** Recon typically uses sniper rifles, mainly the [=SV98=] in all three of the games. He also equips the [=UMP45=]] submachine gun in both ''[=BF3=]'' and ''[=BF4=]'', despite personal defense weapons/sub-machine guns not being an all class weapon in ''[=BF4=]''. He's been also equipped with the [=SR25 ECC=] in ''[=Hardline=]'', a weapon that is virtually identical to the ''[=BF4=]'' [=MK11 Mod 0=].
** Weapons like the [=USAS 12=], [=ACE 23=] assault rifle, and [=SCAR-L=] have briefly appeared in the series as well, with the [=USAS12=] getting it's own episode.
** The [=870MCS=] shotgun is sometimes used by the characters, usually resulting in some negative event to happen.
** Simon is commonly seen armed with the [=M4A1=] carbine, but once equipping the [=M249 SAW=] in "Noob Fight."
** Some weapons have even been mentioned in the series, including Recon asking the Closet Colonel the spread of the [=M416=] assault rifle, when the recon was apparently killed by an LAV-25 with a [=SCAR-H=] battle rifle. The bunny sniper's weapon of choice visually an [=SV98=], but in "Rooftop Camper" is actually his own personal version of the [=M98B=] sniper rifle, the "[=M98Bunny=]."
** The Colonel only uses his signature knife (later equipped with a ''bipod'', [[spoiler:and then a bipod FOR the bipod]]) to great effect, [[RealityWarper game mechanics be damned]].
* WithFriendsLikeThese: The source of most of the episode's drama, with the team bickering, shouting, and arguing over each other constantly over the ''Battlefield'' game mechanics. However, through TeethClenchedTeamwork, they could still work towards the objective.
* YourHeadAsplode: [[spoiler: Medic, when forced to go on Teamspeak for a few seconds.]]
