[[WMG: Madagascar is the only place spared the virus.]]
Cause, A) if they're going to go down similar paths to the original humans have to come from somewhere, and B) who can resist the ''VideoGame/{{Pandemic}} 2'' joke?
-->'''President of Madagascar's Aid:''' Sir, an Airplane pilot in America has a bloody nose.\
'''President of Madagascar:''' [[MemeticMutation SHUT! DOWN! EVERYTHING!]]
* Madagascar doesn't have apes, or any monkeys for that matter -- it has lemurs.
* And the Lemurs will gain sentience from the virus and build a society and [[{{WesternAnimation/Madagascar}} sing "I like to move it move it!"]]
* The lemur-ruled Madagascar might become an independent nation, and not be part of a worldwide ape government.
* Well if the [[http://www.simianflu.com Simian Flu]] website is any indication, it's Jossed. It's very faint, but by the time you hit 2019 you can see pink dots that indicate infections, and it only grows with each subsequent year. Greenland isn't safe either, they get it by 2021. The only untouched place appears to be Svalbard, of all places.
** Ok, this isn't really relevant, but I had to point something out. In the fake twitter: "So what is the government doing about the perpetrators of #simianflu ? Get the apes! They created this!". This made me laugh.

[[WMG: Rodman will find a cure for the plague but the side effects will be loss of speech.]]
That seems to be a logical way for humans to lose the ability to speak in any potential sequels.

- or, the plague itself causes loss of speech? It's seen to affect the throat.

And the people who don't lose their speech become horribly scarred mutants.
* [[Film/TheOmegaMan And they'll also have albinism and live in LA where Taylor will become a biologist and fight them.]]

[[WMG: Humans with at least a certain level of mental handicap will be immune to the 113 plague]]
This starts a downward spiral in the surviving human population until, eventually... y'know. I like to think that Rodney the kindly-but-slow zookeeper gets a happy-ish ending.
* So this would make it like a prequel to Idiocracy?

[[WMG: Koba will be the ape that causes them to enslave mankind]]
* He somewhat resembles Thade from the 2001 film. In the sequel, he might take on the Aldo role, like in ''Battle for the Planet of the Apes''.
** Jossed, Koba dies at the end of ''Dawn'' just before the war between apes and humans officially starts.
*** Then again someone [=WMGs=] that Koba's still alive.

[[WMG: Caesar gets his mate in the sequel]]
One of the chimps shipped off to [=GenSys=] is named Cornelia, and he takes a meaningful look at her empty cage before laying siege to the facility. I think there's a deleted scene of them looking into each others' eyes, but that could be completely off-base.
* Confirmed.

[[WMG: The company that was developing 112 is [[ComicBook/SpiderMan Oscorp]]]]
Why else would Harry be one of the researchers?

[[WMG: Hunsiker never caught the plague]]

Nah, that was just a nosebleed.

* Then how exactly did the plague start if he just had a nosebleed? From the landlady who found Franklin dead in his bed?
** There was no plague. They just felt like showing us a globe with yellow lines to indicate who Hunisker meets, and who all those people meet. It was to show how united humanity was. Touching really.
*** [[SarcasmMode Of course, it all makes sense now!]]
*** [[RuleOfFunny I support this theory.]]
*** That makes it [[BigLippedAlligatorMoment Big Lipped Alligator Credits]]!
*** Jossed http://www.simianflu.com/

[[WMG: This takes place in the same universe as ''Film/{{Limitless}}'']]
In ''Film/{{Limitless}}'', there is a drug that enhances your brain function, making you become hyperintelligent. Sounds exactly like the drug they gave the apes. Since the ''Limitless'' pills didn't kill you, they must be the earlier drug, the 112 that some other lab technician (there's other people working there besides Franklin and Rodman) that decided to sell the drug on the streets.

[[WMG: Jacobs survives the fall.]]
Not only that, but he survives the plague, which instead mutated him. He becomes the leader of the mutants. He'll develop a deep hatred for apes, much similar to Governor Breck from ''Conquest of the Planet of the Apes''.

[[WMG: In the sequel, Koba will betray Caesar.]]
Caesar's stance is to not kill humans and just stay out of the way in their own land. Koba doesn't want that, he want revenge. He will betray Caesar to take command of the apes and go to war.
* I don't think he will physically betray him. Caesar will most likely just die of sickness, and Koba will take over in a dictatorship. Mimicking the rise of Joseph Stalin after Lenin's death. Koba was even Stalin's nickname!
** Hoo boy, where do we ''start''. Confirmed with a vengeance.

[[WMG: Ape society...]]
Will develop similar to the apes in the original novel. With large cities and {{steampunk}}-like vehicles.

Their (main) religion will be a mixture of Christianity and other bits of various mythologies. They worship a {{God}}-like being similar to Semos from the 2001 film, who created "the ape in his own image". The Lawgiver would be a well-known prophet, a la Moses and Muhammad.

[[WMG: The human survivors of the plague will be the ones most susceptible to Alzheimer's.]]
The new serum/virus was based on the original, which had positive effects on Alzheimer's patients. The new serum/virus kills people, but maybe its effects are less severe on people who have, or who are likely to develop, Alzheimer's disease. The mentally deteriorated humans in the original movie will be their descendants.

[[WMG: The next movie will involve Caesar attempting to rescue Will from the 113]]
Because this plot point NEEDS RESOLUTION, DAMMIT.
* Sadly jossed, from a clip in one of the TV spots, he apparently died between films. Likely from the plague.

[[WMG: The next film won't follow the first chronologically, it will be in the distant future.]]
Lost astronauts. They get back to Earth. You know the rest. Except for one small detail...
** Well it does take place in the 2020s...but not quite distant future.

[[WMG: The "They blew it all to hell" Art/StatueOfLiberty scene will happen at the ''beginning'' of the sequel.]]
Since it's [[ItWasHisSled hardly a surprise anymore]], but, goddammit, it's so iconic it '''has''' to happen. The lost astronauts from the Mars expedition come back and realize right away they're on Future!Ape!Earth and the plot goes on from there.
** I dunno, I get the feeling if it's anywhere, it'll be the big climatic moment. Gotta have something for [[TrailersAlwaysSpoil trailers to spoil]], after all, and if anything, that'd indicate to humans that they're fucked six ways to Sunday.

[[WMG: The idea that humans actually ''are'' apes will be a dangerous heresy in Ape society.]]
Pop biology quiz, which species is the closest relative of chimpanzees? Gorillas? No. Orangutans? No. Yep, it's ''Homo sapiens''. Which would boost another dangerous idea, namely, that apes are in fact not so different from the evil humans. Expect the returning astronauts to be (even more) persecuted because they spread this idea.
* Bonobos, actually. Chimpanzees and bonobos split off less than a million years ago, while humans split off from the chimp/ bonobo branch 6-7 million years ago.

[[WMG: The grand unifiying sequel theory]]
Taking many of the points above and the old movies as a base:

There will be a three-sided conflict between Caesar and Will who want a peaceful coexistence between the apes and the humans, the US government that considers the apes as the source of the plague and Koba who wants to KillAllHumans. Koba kills Caesar during a police raid and convinces the other apes that he was killed by humans, taking over the gang and declaring war on mankind. Another battle ensues, where it is revealed that Koba was actually Caesar's murderer before he dies. Maurice then takes over as ruler of the apes and establishes both the ApeShallNeverKillApe rule and that apes and humans can't coexist, eventually becoming The Lawgiver and giving rise to the political dominance of orangutans in the next centuries.

The astronauts won't come back until the third movie.
** This sounds like it will work, there's even evidence it could. A deleted scene which looked like it would have been TheStinger shows Koba discovering, and learning to work, a shotgun. The perfect way to frame a human.

[[WMG: The "5 years later" caption was add after production by someone who understand how long it takes to chimpanzees to mature.]]
It doesn't make sense otherwise since the story doesn't seem to progress as much as it should

921. Nobody seem to notice that Will father is a fully functional adult again and ask how it happened.\
932. There are apparently no incidents with Jerkass neighbor despite the fact that after the first incidents it seem like he was planning to do something about the ape situation.\
943. If Will and Caroline been dating for that long, how come she doesn't know where he works?

The only way all those thing would make sense is if only a few months were intended to pass.

[[WMG: A sequel would have an extreme downer ending.]]
Looking at how ROTPOTA leaves the various characters this is only a natural conclusion for the next movie, or spread out with several.\
Will and Caroline, with most of humanity, will be dead due to the virus. Caesar, like his cinematic basis, has a "live and let live" outlook on ape/human relations. This implies that he will also be overthrown and/or murdered at the end and replaced by a more anti-human ape, possibly Koba. The effects of the plague and the growth of ape society will lead to the world where apes rule and humans are no more than slaves/scientific research subjects that the astronauts will return to.
* Well, the ending has war looming between humans and apes with no way to stop it, so I say this ones confirmed.

[[WMG: ''Film/ChildrenOfMen'' is a sequel to the movie.]]
The virus mutates so it is not so virulent, it merely removes reproductive ability. While the human race slowly exits, the apes experience a great birth rate.
* So, the "II UsefulNotes/AmericanCivilWar" mentioned in ''[=CoM=]'' was between humans and apes?
** Possibly, but more likely the apes were just biding their time as the humans killed each other off and died off.

[[WMG: Caesar can talk because he was ''born'' from an ALZ ape.]]
It's been mentioned many times that even though ALZ would make apes smart enough to talk, their vocal cords are still not formed properly. But unlike the other apes, Caesar wasn't treated with the ALZ, he was born super-intelligent. Caesar was a second-generation ALZ ape, and it's possible that his vocal cords were formed to allow him to speak once he learned how. If this is true, then the children of the apes from the movie will be able to talk as well.
** Jossed, Koba and Maurice were able to talk in ''Dawn''.

[[WMG: The script for ROTPOTA was given to the the writers by aliens, and is a script for ''Film/TheDarkKnightTrilogy'' distorted by RecursiveTranslation]]
The aliens managed to find the scripts to the three Dark Knight movies, and decided that they were interesting. However, since they're aliens, their word for "Human" and "Ape" is the same. The aliens made a few copies in human languages, and one was left behind. The writers found the script, and while it was confusing in places, they understood most, and had the idea to use it for a POTA prequel. They edited a few bits to make the story work, like making ALZ-113/12 (What Scare-crow's toxin had been distorted into) infectious and intelligence-enducing, and setting the story in San-Francisco. The parallels are numerous, when you think about it. Caesar/Batman, an orphan, TheHero who has a strict no-killing policy (but sometimes does not save people, for example Jacobs in the helicopter/Ra's on the train) and a disturbing gravelly voice, is taken in by a very old man (by ape standards) who cared for his parent(s). He is initially trust-worthy of his enemy (Rocket/Ra's), but learns that he and his followers are evil. After about halfway in the movie/trilogy, he comes into conflict with the police. Koba/Joker, a scared and bitter ape with a NightmareFuel smile, kills a corrupt black man who wears a [[BadassInANiceSuit Badass Suit]] and is (possibly) the second movie in the series's villain. Jerkass Neighbour/Bane, sends Caesar/Batman to prison, who then meets/hallucinates Rocket/Ra's, highly protective of little girlsand is responsible for almost destroying gotham/destroying the world. Buck/Tumbler, I have no evidence for this other than they're both pretty strong, kind of sort of look like each other, and they both come in black. Maurice/Scrapped Robin concept? He's Caesar's sidekick, he has warmer colours to contrast the other apes black, and Maurice once worked at a circus. The characters match up roughly, but not perfectly. However, the most damning piece of evidence I have is the title: [[Film/TheDarkKnightRises Rise.]]
* To add onto this theory, the police officers riding horses was derived from the script for ''Batman Begins.'' Black Steven Jacobs working at Gen-Sys is a mistranslation of black Lucius Fox working at Wayne Enterprise. The former flew in a helicopter and the latter created an aircraft called The Bat. Caesar climbing out of the San Bruno Primate Shelter mirrors Bruce Wayne climbing out of The Pit. The scene in ''The Dark Knight Rises'' that includes Blake trying to get the bus full of people across the bridge without getting shot was mistranslated as apes pushing a bus on the Golden Gate Bridge to block the bullets of the humans. The Batman symbol on the bridge made from fire became the fire that was created on the Golden Gate Bridge as a result of the incident known as Monkeygate. Speaking of the symbol, Blue Eyes draws the symbol for "Home" on the trolley bus in this movie. The mention of Gary Oldman as police commissioner James Gordon led to the creation of former chief of police Dreyfus, who appears in the novel ''Firestorm'' and the film ''Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.'' The latter got its title from a mistranslation of the script for ''Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.'' However, it contains some elements of ''The Dark Knight Rises,'' such as Koba occupying San Francisco just has Bane had occupied Gotham, and Caesar, like Batman/Bruce Wayne, believed to be dead before returning to defeat his nemesis. Plus, look at the chronology of ''Rise of the Planet of the Apes'' compared to the chronology of ''The Dark Knight'' trilogy:
** ROTPOTA
*** 2008 - Caesar is born and hidden by Will Rodman.
*** 2016 - Caesar and other intelligent apes reveal themselves.

** TDKT
*** 2008 - Batman goes into hiding after facing The Joker.
*** 2016 - Batman comes out of retirement to face Bane.

[[WMG: Humans DO blow it all up]]
The ALZ plague ravages the Earth. Apes around the world, in Zoos, are released by the staff when they can no longer care for them, or they escape on there own. Apes in the wild, come into contact with infected humans and gain enhanced intelligence. As the humanity falls to the effects of the plague, the intelligence enhanced apes, move into cities, out of curiosity or perhaps looking for resources, and come into regular contact with the surviving humans. This leads to conflict and tension with the traumatized survivors of the ALZ plague. Remnants of governments attempt to destroy any bands of the now, much better organized and tool-using apes. Suspicion rules and as apes are found to be increasingly well organized and become a notable presence in human cities and towns, the surviving military still in control of [=WoMD=] launch them at cities around the world in order to destroy the apes, since humans cannot mount any effective armed forces against them. Leaders in parts of the world that are attacked, in turn, launch there own weapons and the destruction of humanity is complete, paving the way for a true planet of the Apes. From the original Conquest: of the POTA, it is mentioned that the pet plague, while killing off common animals, also had a subtle effect on humans as well. Humans in the original story line, were made slightly weaker by physically, and it was implied mentally as well. Not severely so, but the effect was there. In the reboot, expect the effects of the ALZ virus to be much more pronounced, and probably will become fixed in the human genome. So in addition to being radiation scarred, they will be dumb as posts. Caesars band will become the key Ape tribe, as Caesar has the power of speech and can pass that on to his children. The North American Apes could become the most advanced in the world. So in the end, Humans could well end up blowing it all up anyhow, if only in a somewhat different set of circumstances. The few surviving humans that were NOT effected by the effects of ALZ plague, and retain there intelligence, will become the equivalent of the original series New York mutants(though they may not necessarily inhabit the ruins of NYC in this time-line. They will be mutated and weak, but still retain there intelligence and harbour an enduring hatred of all apes, blaming them(incorrectly) for the fall of man, and will become the Apes primary behind-the-scenes enemy.

[[WMG: All of the films from the original series will be remade]]
Going by the fact that ''Rise'' was a pseudo-remake of ''Conquest'', this will become a five part series that will remake the other films:
* ''Dawn'' will remake ''Battle'', detailing the start of the ape society and the prejudice between the apes and humans.
* The third film will be a remake of the original ''Planet of the Apes'', showing the astronauts coming back to the ape-dominated society in the far-distant future.
* The fourth film will remake ''Beneath'', showing the ape and human conflict at it's highest peak and a secret civilization of advanced humans. The film will end with the Earth being destroyed.
* The final film will remake ''Escape'' and have a few apes managing to travel back in time to around the events of ''Rise''. The apes and humans will try to prevent the eventual death of the planet and either successfully prevent doomsday or end up causing it in the first place.

[[WMG: In ''Dawn'', Gary Oldman will play James Franco's character]]
According to rumors Franco will not return for the sequel except for a posible cameo. After signing in for the movie, Oldman said that he was playing the leader of a team of surviving scientists in the ruins of San Francisco, and that the sequel took place 15 years after ''Rise''. Oldman and Franco are [[YoungerThanTheyLook only 20 years apart]] in age.
* {{Jossed}}. Oldman's character is named Dreyfuss and seems to have been inspired by Kolp from ''Battle for the Planet of the Apes''. Will and Caroline [[BusCrash died]] during the Simian Flu pandemic according to WordOfGod.

[[WMG: Hunsiker survived the Simian Flu and is now part of (if not leader of) the Anti-Ape Association.]]
The movie ends with him getting a nosebleed, but if you look at the Simian Flu website, the first fatality according to the OPHA is a pilot named Mark Rowan. Also note the PSA that plays says that only one of ten victims survives the Simian Flu. Hunsiker was that one of ten, and, keeping in mind that he lived next door to Caesar for years, and that Caesar bit off his finger, he'd have plenty of reason (if erroneously) to believe Caesar infected him, giving him a grudge against apes. And at the bottom of the website it says its brought to the internet by the Anti-Ape Association. Sounds like something Hunsiker would join if not found, hmmmm?

[[WMG: When the astronauts return to Earth, one of the primitive mute humans they will meet will be played by Andy Serkis.]]
Because he has already played a handful of CGI characters. If they make a movie without Caesar, Serkis should at least come back in a human role.

[[WMG: The apes in the zoo were bitten by the apes who had the ALZ-113.]]
Thus explaining how the apes in the zoo knew where to go.

[[WMG: When the movies get to the ape-dominated future, the wild humans will be played by birracial actors like the Eloi in ''Film/{{The Time Machine|2002}}'']]
* In addition, the humans will not be mute. They will just speak a different language.

[[WMG: Gary Oldman will be the villain in ''Dawn''.]]
* Confirmed. [[AntiVillain Ish.]]

[[WMG: In the future, the humans will be entirely covered in body paint not unlike the apes in ''Dawn'']]
Besides the CallBack and {{Irony}} involved, it would take out the silly 60s cavemen look from the original, and allow the actors to appear more nude without getting a R-rating because it will fall under NationalGeographicNudity.

[[WMG: In ''Dawn'', Caesar will reuse the line from ''Battle,'' "That's my father."]]
The trailer shows Caesar in Will's home, watching footage of Will and himself. This will be similar to the scene in ''Battle for the Planet of the Apes,'' during which Caesar found audio and video stills of his parents in San Francisco.

[[WMG: Koba will kill Caesar in ''Dawn''.]]
Caesar is the only ape of his kind who has lived with and seen the good in humans. Other apes want to be at war with them forever. Koba will be the one to kill Caesar, but he will be caught and punished for breaking the law, "Ape shall not kill ape."
* He sure as hell tried to, but failed.

[[WMG: The astronauts will use the stars to figure out that they are on Earth.]]
They will figure it out sooner than Taylor did in the first film.

[[WMG: One of the astronauts will be named Taylor.]]
They refer to him as "Taylor" in interviews.

[[WMG: The third film's ending will be more optimistic than any of the previous films.]]
It would be something new.

[[WMG: In the third film, the apes will be like humans of the early 21st century.]]
They would be using any technology and clothes that we have had up until 2016, when the movie comes out, just like how in the original novel the apes were like people of the 1960s.

[[WMG: Possible titles for future films.]]
* ''Age of the Planet of the Apes'' - To follow the trend of movies like ''Transformers: Age of Extinction'' and ''Avengers: Age of Ultron,'' and to fill the void left by ''X-Men: Age of Apocalypse,'' now titled ''X-Men: Apocalypse.''
* ''Alpha of the Planet of the Apes'' - This could be the title if Caesar's father is a main character.
* ''Apocalypse of the Planet of the Apes'' - This would be the end.
* ''Beyond the Planet of the Apes'' - Sort of opposite of beneath.
* ''Destruction of the Planet of the Apes'' - It would be suitable if it ended like ''Beneath''.
* ''Descent on the Planet of the Apes'' - Referring to the astronauts landing, as well as the descent of human and/or ape society.
* ''Devastation of the Planet of the Apes'' - Similar to ''Destruction''.
* ''Domination of the Planet of the Apes'' - This could refer to either humans or apes.
* ''Doomsday on the Planet of the Apes'' - This could refer to nuclear weapons or simply the end.
* ''Dusk on the Planet of the Apes'' - Dusk is the opposite of dawn.
* ''Eclipse of the Planet of the Apes'' - As in humans overshadowing the apes once again.
* ''End of the Planet of the Apes'' - If it's the final movie.
* ''Fall of the Planet of the Apes'' - Fall is the opposite of rise.
* ''Fate of the Planet of the Apes'' - This would be the title of the final film in this series.
* ''Future of the Planet of the Apes'' - The film will take place 2,000 years in the future.
* ''Freedom on the Planet of the Apes'' - Perhaps referring to humans (and perhaps apes as well) living free.
* ''King of the Planet of the Apes'' - Focus on Caesar's rule.
* ''Night of the Planet of the Apes'' - Night is a metaphorical end.
* ''Omega of the Planet of the Apes'' - As in the end and a reference to the Alpha-Omega bomb of the APJ films.
* ''Planet of the Apes'' - Plain and simple.
* ''Revenge on the Planet of the Apes'' - The humans would want revenge on the apes for taking over.
* ''Revelation of the Planet of the Apes'' - It would be revealed to the astronauts that apes took over.
* ''Rise Against the Planet of the Apes'' - It would focus more on the humans.
* ''Uprising on the Planet of the Apes'' - This would refer to a human uprising.
* ''Vengeance on the Planet of the Apes'' - Similar to ''Revenge''.
* ''War of the Planet of the Apes'' - The ending of ''Dawn'' makes it clear that war between humans and apes has begun.
** Confirmed.

[[WMG: TheStinger for ''Dawn'' will show the ''Icarus.'']]
And it will be heading back to Earth. At the end of the scene, the caption "2,000 Years Later" will appear with ominous music before it cuts to black and/or back to the credits.

[[WMG: We will see the fall of the Statue of Liberty.]]
It would be a nod to the 1968 film.

[[WMG: There will be a total of six movies.]]
This is a valuable franchise for Fox. The 2016 movie will probably be the end of the Caesar trilogy, and then there will be a Taylor trilogy that takes place 2,000 years later.

[[WMG: In ''Dawn'', the death of River at the hands of humans will cause the war.]]
In the trailer, Caesar says that he does not want a war. Malcolm later says that the apes will only attack if Caesar's family is threatened. The humans, or a human (possibly Dreyfus) will shoot Caesar's older son, River, to death, provoking Caesar into leading the apes into war.

[[WMG: The events on the Simian Flu website happen later than the site says.]]
When the website was first launched on July 18 2013, this is what was written:

* 2013 - SAN FRANCISCO: First symptoms
* 2014 - CALCUTTA PATIENT X: Pilot Mark Rowan is first fatality
* 2015 - LONDON OUTBREAK: Heathrow detainment of suspected infected
* 2016 - JOHN F KENNEDY AIRPORT LOCKDOWN: Extreme health screening
* 2017 - OUTBREAK IN SEOUL: Business conference mass illness
* 2018 - EUROPEAN SPREAD: From London, virus crosses Schengen borders
* 2019 - BALTIC PROTEST: Demonstrations on government medical practices
* 2020 - MASS DEATHS IN THE MIDDLE EAST: Third world struggles to contain spread
* 2021 - AMERICA STRICKEN: Virus spreads from West to East coast
* 2022 - RUSSIA REPORTS SPREAD: Russian casualties in millions

Since then, the events have been moved backward two years, probably since the video on the site says that Simian Flu began in 2011. The website dawnofapes.com, by contrast, says that Simian Flu began in 2016 and that ten years have passed since then. The fact that ''Rise'' takes place is supported by the fact that a car license plate has the year 2016 on it during the Golden Gate Bridge scene. Therefore, the events on the Simian Flu website actually take place 2016-2025, with ''Dawn'' taking place in 2026.

[[WMG: The lack of consistency in the chronology is an homage to ''Battle for the Planet of the Apes.'']]
To this day, people still argue over what year ''Battle'' takes place.

[[WMG: ''Rise'' ends on August 5, 2016.]]
The website for ''Dawn'' contains a video showing the changes in major cities affected by Simian Flu since 8/5/2016. August 5 is the date that ''Rise'' came out in 2011, so it seems fitting. This would mean that Caesar was born in 2008 and that he went to Muir Woods for the first time in 2011.

[[WMG: ''Dawn'' begins on September 26, 2026.]]
Related to the above. The video on the ''Dawn'' website ends with the date 9/26/2026.

[[WMG: Koba will say a General Ursus' line from ''Beneath'' or a variation of it.]]
Ursus' line was, "The only good human...is a dead human!" Koba will either say this line exactly the same or say it in a more primitive-sounding way, like, "Only good human...dead human!" Koba does hate humans, after all.

[[WMG: The ending of ''Dawn'' will suggest potential for humans and apes to live prosperously together, and the ''next'' movie will end with apes taking over all civilization on Earth.]]
''Dawn,'' like ''Battle,'' will end with Caesar believing that humans and apes could live prosperously someday. The next film could be inspired by the 2770 scene in ''Battle'' and show the Lawgiver telling the story of Caesar to apes and humans, both of which can speak. The movie will then show what happens between then and the astronauts returning to Earth. Unlike the original film series in which time travel altered aspects of history, the Lawgiver's teachings will be altered by apes who believe that they should dominate the humans. This could result in orangutans and gorillas becoming more culturally dominant than the chimpanzees, just like in the 1968 film. TheStinger for the third film would recreate the opening scene of the 1968 film that shows Taylor recording his thoughts about traveling through the wormhole. The scene would take place as the ship passes through the year in which the third film takes place.

[[WMG: In a future film, gibbons will unite with humans to overthrow the chimpanzees, orangutans, and gorillas.]]
Gibbons have never really been featured in this franchise. It would be interesting if they felt left out and decided to help the humans conquer the other apes.

[[WMG: The third film will focus on the war between humans and apes and be on a larger scale.]]
It could show various battles across the U.S. and perhaps beyond, depicting the fall of the Statue of Liberty.

[[WMG: The reason that the sequel was not about the time of the Simian Flu outbreak is that it would have been too similar to ''Contagion''.]]
Which actually came out shortly after ''Rise of the Planet of the Apes.''

[[WMG: The apes already control the Earth.]]
We've only seen the San Francisco area. For all we know, all other areas of the world have already been taken over by apes who wish to inhabit buildings and use human technology.

[[WMG: The people of the north whom Dreyfus' people contacted are apes.]]
It would be a twist in the next movie if it picks up right after.

[[WMG: Alpha, Caesar's father, wants to commit genocide against humans.]]
Alpha must have been mad that the humans took his mate Bright Eyes away from him. Imagine how much more mad he would be if he was aware that she was pregnant at the time. If the ALZ-113 is airborne and spread across the globe, perhaps it increased the intelligence of apes across Africa. Between Bright-Eyes' capture and Caesar's uprising, Alpha could have already been captured and taken somewhere in America, perhaps hoping that he could be reunited with Bright Eyes. My bet is that it would be somewhere in New York like the Central Park Zoo, if only to show what becomes of the Statue of Liberty if Alpha appears in the next film. I could imagine him leading his own army of apes across the nation, slaughtering humans along the way. If such an army makes it to San Francisco, they could defeat the humans who reside there. It would be even more tragic if Alpha killed Caesar for defending the humans, not realizing that Caesar is his son until he sees the birth mark. He would then repeat to himself, "I killed my son," just like how Caesar repeated, "You killed my son," after learning that Aldo killed Cornelius in ''Battle.'' If this were the next movie, it could be called ''Alpha of the Planet of the Apes.''

[[WMG: Caesar dominating Rocket in ''Rise'' is a TakeThat to the 2001 film.]]
For the 2001 film, Terry Notary was a stunt performer and even did stunts for Tim Roth's politically powerful chimpanzee character Thade. In ''Rise,'' Notary portrays Rocket, a chimpanzee who is the alpha male in the San Bruno Primate Shelter until Caesar unleashed Buck the gorilla and terrifies Rocket into submitting to him. Caesar then becomes the leader of the apes. Therefore, the filmmakers were saying that ''Rise'' was better than the 2001 film. They may have also been saying that the pentalogy, which featured a chimp leader named Caesar, is better than the 2001 film. This may also explain why Rocket does not have a very large role in ''Dawn.''
* Notary also played Caesar's mom, which could be also interpreted as Notary being Serkis' predecessor.

[[WMG: Malcolm and his family will not appear in the third film.]]
Caesar told him that they should leave. It would also follow the trend of human characters not returning in the sequel. (Will only returned in a video.)

[[WMG: Caesar's younger son will be named Aldo.]]
They did not want to give his name away in ''Dawn'' because then the audience would already know that he would end up killing Caesar's other son Blue Eyes just as Aldo from ''Battle'' had killed Caesar's son Cornelius.

[[WMG: Lesser apes have not had their intelligence increased by the ALZ 113.]]
We have not seen any gibbons so far. It is possible that they have been unaffected (at least positively) by the 113. In the future, great apes may cage and/or enslave them. Ape scientists, perhaps named Cornelius and Zira, will create a drug that increases their intelligence, leading to the rise of lesser apes against great apes, mirroring the plot of ''Rise of the Planet of the Apes'' ironically.

[[WMG:The new films are ape versions of the ''X-Men'' film series.]]
Both franchises are owned by 20th Century Fox. ''Film/XMenFirstClass'' and ''Film/RiseOfThePlanetOfTheApes'' showed the origins of Charles Xavier and Caesar respectively. Both characters gathered their kind together in that film. Koba is an analog of Magneto since he works with Caesar in the movie, but he ends up killing someone vengefully at the end just as Magneto did at the end of ''First Class.'' Their targets, Sebastian Shaw and Steven Jacobs, ensured that experiments were carried out on them. Darwin and Buck die fighting these antagonists. ''Film/XMenDaysOfFuturePast'' and ''Film/DawnOfThePlanetOfTheApes'' were both released in 2014. Magneto and Koba both attempt to commit genocide against humans even though Xavier and Caesar want mutants and apes respectively to co-exist peacefully with them. Maurice is an analog of Hank [=McCoy=] / Beast since both characters are loyal to their leaders.

[[WMG: There will be no nuclear war.]]
Malcolm says that nuclear power gave out.

[[WMG: The missing astronauts will return in a fourth film. And unlike in the 1968 movie, they will realise that they are back on Earth almost immediately.]]
After all, the movie will follow a trilogy showing exactly how apes took over the planet, so there's no point in keeping the characters in the dark — it'll also serve to make the movie something more than just a straight remake.

[[WMG: Cats and dogs were wiped out by the ALZ 113 virus.]]
Ever wondered what happened to all the pet cats and dogs in the sequel, simple the were all wiped out by the virus too. Think about it, this happened in the original movie series. This also would explain why dogs didn't appear in the sequels despite the fact they would be valuable as hunting partners, guards and attack dogs. These are things that all surviving humans could use. Cats though could be justified since they would serve the survivors no practical purpose.
* Domesticated species won't make it for too long once all (or most) humans are gone. Horses could be the one exception, "adopted" and second-hand domesticated by apes. Also, in a postapocalyptic scenario without economical activity where cattle is no longer an option, [[EmergencyFoodSupplyAnimal pets become an acceptable food source.]]
