Note that this seemingly bitter situation with April and Ben is used as a parallel to April offering to do the same for Andy, not to split up a couple but to get together with Andy, even if it was under false pretenses. This seems very deliberate to me.

Additionally, Mouse Rat was depicted as being pretty popular, so there could be some crossover, explaining why one of the in-universe ads aired during the show is for a Mouse Rat documentary. Fans of Andy's old band either had kids of their own and watched the show with them, or they heard the guy who sang "Sex Hair" had a kids show now and got curious.

In the book it is explained that adults can't see pennywise or ignore the numerous child murders that would bring in national headlines.
