Context WMG / MaskedRider

Go To

[[WMG: This show is a prequel to ''Series/KamenRiderDragonKnight''.]]
King Lexian was the original Advent Master. Dex, along with the other 10 Masked Riders, are the ancestors of the Mirror World Kamen Riders that series.

[[WMG: Dex is an InvoluntaryShapeshifter.]]
This is why sometimes he resembles [[Series/KamenRiderBlackRX Kotaro Minami]].

[[WMG: The Masked Rider armour changes form sometimes to protect itself.]]
This is why it sometimes resembles that which was worn by ''Film/KamenRiderZO'' and ''Film/KamenRiderJ''.

[[WMG: Dregon left Earth to conquer another world by the time of ''Series/PowerRangersZeo''.]]
In the episode of ''Zeo'' where the Red Battlezord is introduced, Zordon says something along the lines that it is the last line of defence on Earth (now that the Zeo Megazord is out of action), implying that Dex has left Earth to fight Dregon elsewhere.

Mondo probably attacked his ship as well upon the Machine Empire's arrival to Earth, forcing Dregon to retreat in disgrace (much to Zedd's amusement upon hearing this) as Dex and Ferbus chased after him, knowing the Rangers would be capable of dealing with the Machine Empire themselves.

This also explains his absence during "[[Series/PowerRangersInSpace Countdown To Destruction]]"; he was fighting Dregon's forces elsewhere.

** Thus, Dregon and his forces weren't purified or destroyed by the Z-Wave, since they weren't the immediate threat as the United Alliance of Evil were.

[[WMG: The version of events we saw was a ShowWithinAShow in the Franchise/PowerRangers Universe]]
This is how Nadira got to watch the show in ''Series/PowerRangersTimeForce''. After defeating Dregon, Dex sold his story to some tv execs.

This also explains the differences of Dex's departure between "A Friend In Need part 3" and "Escape From Edenoi part 1". In the former episode, his grandfather tells him that there is no hope left for Edenoi, implying the planet is about to explode or something. Then in the latter episode, Dex is told by his grandfather to leave Edenoi again, without any sign the planet is going to go bust. It also explains why Doubleface acts as Dregon's second in command in the former, but not in the latter, how was Dex to know the chain of command inside Dregon's ship?

[[WMG: Doubleface got a demotion after "A Friend In Need part 3"]]
This is why he behaves as Dregon's second in command in that episode and why afterward he has the same role as the others.

[[WMG: The Masked Rider will return for ''Series/PowerRangersSamurai''.]]
It's been confirmed that ''Series/SamuraiSentaiShinkenger'' is getting adapted for ''Series/PowerRangersSamurai''. ''Shinkenger'' featured a crossover with ''Series/KamenRiderDecade''. Hopefully, if the writers will be mythos-savy enough to recall the ''Power Rangers / Masked Rider'' crossover and take advantage of this footage to have Dex appear in the new series, either as a reboot or a continuation from his arc. And they'll do it ''right'' this time. Please?
* Problem is, Decade's suit looks even less like Black RX's than ZO and J's did. If they use the Decade footage, it would make more sense for the Riders to be new characters. What they ''should'' do is adapt Double and then let the Goseiger adaptation cross over with ''that.'' A lot.
** HOWEVER! They may handwave it with that the Decade suit was made to replace the original Masked Rider suit because the original wasn't enough to fight the evil on Earth at the time or something.
*** They could also state that since we've last seen him, Dex has defeated Count Dregon, his father has passed away, and he's now the king of Edenoi, and that the Decade suit is his royal suit of armour. After all, purple is a colour of royalty, and magenta is close enough...
*** Remember that the past Riders were previous users of the same powers, pulled through time? Decade can be Dex's son, with the suit having changed to adapt to him.
*** Ultimately jossed - not only did Decade not make any appearance in Samurai, Dex himself didn't even make a cameo (somewhat ironic, since in ''Decade'', after the World of ''Shinkenger'', the next A.R. World Decade visited was the World of ''Black RX'' - the world of the source material for ''Masked Rider''). Besides, Tsukasa didn't transform into Decade during the episodes of ''Shinkenger'' that crossed over with ''Decade'' - he only transformed during the episodes of ''Decade'' that were set in the world of Shinkenger, and said episodes happen near the end of ''Decade''; if anything, it seems like ''Decade'' would've been adapted separately, then crossed over with ''Samurai'' to confirm the American adaptations of Kamen Rider take place in the same universe as Power Rangers.
*** Regarding the suggestion for a crossover between Double and Goseiger, that might have worked if Goseiger had been given it's own adaptation...instead of what actually happened, having Goseiger provide footage for the first half of Megaforce. Personally, this troper thinks it would make more sense to adapt ''Series/KamenRiderDrive'' separately and then adapt the Drive-Ninninger crossover as episodes of both the Drive adaptation and ''Series/PowerRangersNinjaSteel''[[note]]which is using footage from ''Series/ShurikenSentaiNinninger''[[/note]], then following that adaptation up with the Kamen Rider counterpart to the next Sentai series Saban adapts[[note]]If Saban adapts ''Series/DoubutsuSentaiZyuohger'' next, said counterpart would be ''Series/KamenRiderGhost''; if Saban chooses to continue the pattern of skipping even numbered sentai and adapting odd numbered sentai and adapt ''Uchuu Sentai Kyuranger'' instead of ''Zyuohger'', said counterpart would be ''Series/KamenRiderExAid''[[/note]].

[[WMG: Dex died on his way to Earth after "A Friend in Need Part 3"]]
Considering Masked Rider is likely not part of the official Power Rangers universe, and Dex was never heard from again. Instead of fighting Dregon on Earth, he sacrificed himself to destroy him.

[[WMG: The show is something {{Pilot}} Dex or his family cooked up to cover up fighting real monsters]]
I mean it's not like [[Series/PowerRangersNinjaStorm Power Rangers]] are real or anything
* Of course not, [[Series/PowerRangersInSpace Power Rangers]] [[Series/PowerRangersNinjaStorm are just]] [[ComicBooksAreReal comic books]].

[[WMG: The green suit Masked Rider keeps shifting into in the first episodes was his form "molting" to his default form]]

[[WMG: Albee being black despite being in a White/Asian family is a reference to the [[Series/KamenRiderBlackRX source material]].]]
The ''Series/KamenRiderBlack'' transformation was originally known as "Black Sun". [[FridgeBrilliance Albee is the Stewart family's]] [[IncrediblyLamePun black son]].
* [[WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy Except Albee's not a ninja...]]

[[WMG: The series DID get a proper resolution. Only it happened off-screen...]]

...during the events of "Countdown to Destruction". Zordon's Energy wave also destroyed Dregon and his forces.
* More likely it purified Dregon and Nefaria to good like Rita, Zedd, Divatox, and Astronema (all human-looking villains like the two of them) while destroying the rest of his forces. Afterwards, Dregon [[SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments reconciled with his father Lexion and nephew Dex]].

[[WMG: Tying into the above WMG (as well as the ones regarding Dregon's whereabouts during ''Zeo'', the one suggesting it's a show-within-a-show, and the one suggesting that this is a prequel to ''Series/KamenRiderDragonKnight''), Count Dregon was not a member of the United Alliance of Evil]]
Let's ignore the other 2 Saban series for the moment, since there's nothing to suggest that ''Series/VRTroopers'' or ''Series/BigBadBeetleBorgs'' exist/don't exist in the same continuity as either Masked Rider OR Power Rangers. The United Alliance of Evil either never had Dregon as a member, or he used to be one but left for unknown reasons. In ''A Friend In Need'', Lord Zedd clearly expresses his dislike for Dregon; however, he seems to get along with the other members of the UAE, as shown in the beginning of ''Series/PowerRangersInSpace'', and as evident by Rita and Divatox not getting along, we do know that some members disagree with one another. Therefore, Dex's ACTUAL battle began as seen in "A Friend in Need", with him being told that there was no hope left for the planet to give him a sense of urgency, and the battle was much more along the lines of a combination of the plots of ''Series/KamenRiderBlack'' and ''Series/KamenRiderBlackRX'', with Dex following Dregon to another world after Dregon left Earth due to not wanting to fight the Machine Empire AND Zedd; however, he eventually confronted Count Dregon around the time of Countdown to Destruction - and due to him not being a member of the UAE, Dregon did not receive any reinforcements, which allowed Dex to be his equal in combat. This led into the above WMG coming true. Dex then wrote his adventures down into a book, which he released on earth, hoping that it would allow people to see one of the struggles of his people and improve relationships between the Earth and Edenoi...but it was mistaken for fiction, but sold so well that it was adapted into the ''Masked Rider'' we know, and the ShowWithinAShow seen in ''Series/PowerRangersTimeForce''. Eventually, Dex had a son, but before he passed on the powers of the Masked Rider to his son, he let 9 of his vassals borrow them so that they could develop further - and the third vassal to get this power would go on to become the Advent Master. As for what power his son would eventually receive? Well, let's just say that if he had appeared in ''Series/PowerRangersSamurai'', he would have just been a [[Series/KamenRiderDecade Passing By Rider]].

[[WMG: The World of Masked Rider is an [[Series/KamenRiderDecade A.R. World]].]]

[[WMG: Dex's grandfather, King Lexian, was Z-Cross for his Masked Rider tenure.]]
It was likely the most recent previous incarnation of the Rider armor, and the title is passed down, so it would make sense.

[[WMG: The first two Riders were twins.]]
While we're on the subject of that armor changing for each user. The first two are nigh-identical. By ''Masked Rider'' rules, that would mean the wearers had to be nigh identical as well, right? Moreso than most relatives, as no other two look alike. (And, as mentioned before, ''one'' of the Riders, most likely ZX, was a younger Lexian!)

[[WMG: ...And Rider-1 met an untimely end.]]
However, there is only ''one'' set of Rider powers, passed down, which means Rider-1 and Rider-2 can't have been active at the same time.

[[WMG: Alternatively, Rider-2 was a hallucination.]]
Explains how Rider-2 was in the scene and spoke, even though he wasn't in the roll call.
