[[WMG: Norman and Norma will have sex before The End]]
Everything in their dysfunctional, co-dependent, emotionally incestuous relationship and crazy lives have increasingly pushed them closer and closer together to the point of becoming, essentially, one. We know this process will find it's ultimate expression in ''Psycho''. Norman and Norma are constantly jealous when the other has an intimate relationship with someone other than each other and Norman has already admitted to his mother that he is sexually attracted to her and she has brushed this off as perfectly normal. Having sex with his mother would be the ultimate way of becoming one in Norman's mind. Afterwards, this affair will cause Norma to feel deeply wrong and make her realize that she has ruined Norman and she will then refuse to have sex with him ever again and, seeking to push him away and entangle herself from him, she will start to have a relationship with another man. This time, Norman will be so enraged and broken by what he perceives as his mother's rejection of him and his jealousy and rage against this man for taking her away from him, that it will be the thing that finally causes Norman to consciously kill this man but Norma herself will be killed perhaps accidentally in the process, explaining the backstory about how he killed his mother and a lover in ''Psycho''. Of course, Norman's psychosis will be complete and he may not even realize he killed Norma as The Mother that he hallucinates makes him believe she is still with him as long as he lives. Otherwise, I can't see anything in the story justifying Norman ever killing his mother with how deeply in love with her that he is, despite all their problems.
* Norman doesn't have to kill Norma necessarily.
* Jossed.
[[WMG: The identity of Remo and Gil's 'big boss' is...]]
* Sheriff Romero
** He's in a position of power, he's corrupt, and he clearly knows more than he lets on.
*** Jossed in season 2. There are two drug organizations in White Pine Bay, and Romero is not the leader of either of them.
* Jake Abernathy
** He claims to be on the 'top rung'
** Jossed
[[WMG: Norman's hallucinations]]
* Does he have schizophrenia?
** If so, it's [[HollywoodPsych Hollywood Schizophrenia]]. Canonically, he has a dissociative disorder, but that's the [[SplitPersonality Hollywood version]], too.
[[WMG: The town of Fairvale does exist in the show's continuity.]]
* In ''Film/{{Psycho}}'' the town of Fairvale is said to be located 15 miles from the Bates Motel. However, in the show the motel is right at the edge of town, with a school bus stopping practically in front of it. This may be due to the fact that the show requires the motel and the Bates family to be closer to the town and be involved in its going-ons, while in the movie the Bates Motel is remote enough that an average Fairvale resident like Sam Loomis isn't familiar with Norman Bates, his establishment or his family history. By making it so that the Bates Motel is in White Pine Bay, they avoid continuity problems with the movie, as Fairvale would remain the hypothetical next town over, 15 miles away, where everyone is unaware of the shenanigans that took place during the show.
** Jossed. Marion Crane lives in Seattle in this version and Sam Loomis lives in White Pine Bay.

[[WMG: The town will eventually become Fairvale.]]
When Norma mentions [[spoiler: the new highway being built would ruin them.]] The town will eventually die out and all that would be left is The Bates home and Motel.
** Jossed. This never happens.
[[WMG: At some point, Norma will die, and the viewer won't be told]]
Norman will kill Norma and start assuming her identity, as per ''{{Film/Psycho}}''. The viewer will just see things go on as normal, which is what Norman believes is happening, then it'll be revealed as a twist that this happened ages ago. Watch out for a point when Norma stops interacting with people other than Norman, or only does so from a distance.
* That would be so awesome! Norman is already starting to act like Norma.
* Jossed. [[spoiler: Norma dies onscreen and the Season 4 finale is mainly about driving the point that she's permanently dead for both Norman and the viewer.]]

[[WMG: Cody is keeping her father's corpse.]]
She says that only her father lives with her, but we have not yet seen him (as far as we know). Maybe their relationship is supposed to mirror that of Norman and Norma in Psycho.
* Which would make Norman hearing them argue a mirror of Marion Crane hearing Norman argue with "his mother" in ''Psycho''. ''Possibly'' Jossed, unless Cody has become an UnreliableNarrator for her own scenes.
** Certainly Jossed. [[spoiler: However Norman killed him in Season 2's 6th episode.]]
[[WMG: Caleb is Cody's father.]]
That is why the viewers have not yet been shown who her father is.
* Jossed.

[[WMG: A spinoff will focus more on the drug-dealing in the town.]]
It will be called ''Breaking Bates.''

[[WMG: Dylan will become the "Norman Bates" of ''Psycho'']]
After the revelation about [[spoiler:his parentage]], he'll become increasingly unstable. Now that he knows why he's never been a proper member of his family, he'll get increasingly jealous and start identifying with - and impersonating - both of them.
* I've seen a theory similar to this before. Kinda reminds me of [[spoiler: Literature/TheWalkingDeadRiseOfTheGovernor]].
** Dylan knows how to sew up Caleb's hand, so they may be more alike than we know.
*** Also Norman is already a suspicious individual in White Pine Bay, and his genetic/physical data's already in national databases. The point of Psycho is that Norman is the opposite of suspicious even to the Sheriff and his wife, so Dylan would be a better fit.
** Jossed. Dylan remains as a GoodCounterpart to his brother.

[[WMG: Dylan is in love with Norma]]
The reason Dylan keeps telling Norman Norma's poison and he needs to get laid, etc... is that he wants to take him out of the way between himself and his mother. And instead of talking Norma into accepting that Norman's growing up and it's healthy that he has a life of his own, he's thrown Norman's sexuality in her face at least twice about Emma and Bradley, respectively (as in "Neener, neener, he likes a girl ("who isn't you" is implied). He's also usually trying to convince Norma that sending Norman away would be the best thing for him. When he had a blackout after Norma left them for a night, Dylan told her what happened with Norman, but instead of trying to have a conversation about her and Norman's relationship ("he needs you so much he goes nuts the second you aren't there), he acts like Norman's just a garden variety crazy.

Up until recently he had a very adversarial relationship with his mother and claimed to want to save Norman from her claws, yet he did everything in his power, including blackmail, to get his way back into those claws. If he thought his mom was poison, why would he research and travel across the country to be with her? He even blackmailed her into not throwing him out of the house after a fight with Norman. He also had a very sexualized insult for Norma: The Whore. While it's canon that she uses sex as a tool, she's far from being promiscuous. A normal insult from an estranged son would've been, for example, the annoying bitch, or the asshole. Not The Whore. And when Norman disocvered he had been harboring Caleb, Dylan went mental, ready to kill Norman over her.

And why did he have some flirtation with Bradley and is currently with Emma? Well, since he sees Norman as the man who stole Norma away from him, stealing a girlfriend from Norman is fair game.

This could tie to the "Dylan is Norman from Psycho" and the "Norma and Norman have sex before the end" [=WMGs=]. Norma and Norman have sex or formalize their romantic relationship, Dylan gets jealous, kills them, and assumes their identities and personalities.

* Jossed. Dylan forms a true romantic relationship with Emma.

[[WMG: Norman had sex with Ms. Watson ''after'' he killed her.]]
He is a necrophile.
* [[spoiler: Jossed. He killed her right after having sex with her.]]

[[WMG: Psycho 2 is in-continuity.]]
* Unlikely to ever be definitely confirmed in series, but it probably doesn't cause any more continuity problems than moving the setting to the 21st Century. Just interests me to know that [[spoiler: Norma's his biological aunt, not mother.]]
** Season two has a possible ContinuityNod to this idea. Norma tries to get more information on Norman's blackout by telling the doctor that her [[spoiler: sister]] is experiencing them. Obviously, we're supposed to assume she's making it up as a cover story, but it's possible that she might have been telling the truth about [[spoiler: her having a sister who experienced the same symptoms as Norman...because she's Norman's mother.]]
** Well, she is Dylan's biological aunt...
** Jossed thanks to [[spoiler: Norman's death.]]

[[WMG: Dylan's fate will be similar to that of Henry Gein.]]
Norman Bates is partially based on Ed Gein. Ed had an older brother named Henry Gein. Henry was critical of Ed's affection for their mother. Sound familiar? In real life, the two brothers burned vegetation, and then the fire got out of control. Ed reported Henry missing, and he was later found dead presumably of heart failure. Some people believe that Ed might have killed Henry. Regardless of whether or not Norman kills Dylan, fate may be tied with a fire resulting from the burning of marijuana plants since they are tied to his job.
** Jossed. Dylan lives throughout the series.

[[WMG: Norman will eventually kill Dylan.]]
Look at the WMG above.
** Jossed. Dylan lives throughout the series.

[[WMG: Alex Romero is DoomedByCanon.]]
And by that I mean that he will become Norma's lover. You know, the one whom Norman poisons along with his mother?
* Looking even more likely now that [[spoiler:Romero has accepted Norma's marriage proposal.]]
* [[spoiler: Confirmed. He dies by Norman's hand.]]

[[WMG: If the events of ''Psycho'' ever end up on the show, it will be a season long.]]
It would probably be the last season of the show.
* Jossed. The producers have explicitly said they will not be doing this.
* Actually confirmed. The producers have since said that Season 5 will be "colliding with certain events in the narrative of the film" and that Marion Crane will appear in multiple episodes.

[[WMG: Emma will die while having sex with Norman.]]
Whether that means from her condition or from Norman killing her directly since his mother disapproves.
* Jossed. The two never get together and most likely never will now that she's raising a daughter with Dylan.

[[WMG: After Emma dies, Norman will keep her corpse.]]
Similar to how he keeps Norma's corpse in ''Psycho.''
* Jossed. Emma lives throughout the series.

[[WMG: The password for Annika's flash-drive is...]]
* NORMAN
* DYLAN
* PSYCHO
** Jossed. We never see the password because Gunner hacks it.

[[WMG: The contents of Annika's flash-drive]]
* Information pertaining to a large sum of money.
* Porn.
** Jossed. The contents are revealed to be related to the drug trade.

[[WMG: Norma will have sex with the psychology teacher.]]
A relationship seems to be developing between them.
* Confirmed.

[[WMG: Norman did not give up turning Norma against Dylan.]]
After Dylan tells Norma about Caleb, Norman says, "You have to understand. It's his father." He was trying to get Norma to believe that Dylan was siding with his father and could therefore not be her favorite son.
* Jossed. He admits that Mother loves them both equally.

[[WMG: Norman will imagine that Norma came back.]]
Dylan will be looking after Norman, who will be hallucinating that Norma is back, possibly while wearing her dress.
* Confirmed.

[[WMG: Dylan will walk in on Norman wearing Norma's dress.]]
It would spark more drama.
* Confirmed.

[[WMG: Emma will walk in on Norman wearing Norma's dress.]]
That would be very awkward.
* Jossed. This never happens.

[[WMG: Norman will answer Norma's phone and emulate her voice.]]
He is starting to believe that he is his mother.
* Jossed. This never happens.

[[WMG: The show will have a total of seven seasons.]]
In this interview [[http://deadline.com/2013/05/carlton-cuse-at-bates-motel-panel-we-pretty-much-ripped-off-twin-peaks-496320/]] it is stated that the show is meant to do the 70 episodes of ''Series/TwinPeaks'' that are missing. There have been 10 episodes each season, so they must be shooting for a seven-season plan.
* Jossed. It will be five seasons.

[[WMG: Norman signed Norma's name instead of his own on the Pineview documents.]]
This will create even more complications.
* Jossed.

[[WMG: Chick Hogan will take the role of Milton Arbogast.]]
He has AwesomenessByAnalysis, which would make him a great detective. He's also made a HeelFaceTurn and has nothing better to do, so why not offer to help the people who come looking for Marion Crane? He's already crippled, so getting knocked down the staircase by Norman would be pretty believable.
* Jossed thanks to [[spoiler: his death.]]

[[WMG: Certain characters will turn out to be [[CanonCharacterAllAlong Canon Characters All Along]].]]
Dylan and Emma will meet Marion Crane in Seattle and befriend her. She will fulfill her ''Psycho'' storyline, winding up at the Bates Motel and getting stabbed in the shower. At that point, Dylan and Emma will take the roles of Sam Loomis and Lila Crane. As per the above WMG, they'll hire Chick Hogan to look into her disappearance, and he'll fill Milton Arbogast's role and death at the hands of "Mother." In the end, Emma, who hasn't been exposed to much of Norman's craziness, will be the one who finds Norma's body, and Dylan will overpower Norman top stop "Mother" from killing Emma. Dr. Edwards will fill the part of the psychiatrist from the end of the film as Norman is locked up in Pineview forever.
* Semi-confirmed with Sheriff Romero, who appears to [[CompositeCharacter take over the role as Norman's stepfather]].
* Jossed. Sam Loomis and Marion Crane do exist, Dylan and Emma are their own characters, and [[spoiler: Chick and Dr. Edwards are both dead before the finale.]] Other characters from the film were AdaptedOut entirely and the series takes a different turn from the original story.

[[WMG: Marion Crane will be [[SparedbytheAdaptation Spared by the Adaptation]] and someone else will meet her fate in the shower.]]
The showrunners and writers may want to surprise the viewers by not killing Marion Crane off, and will instead use another character to take her place and meet her end at Norman's hands. Perhaps Madeleine Loomis.
* Confirmed, [[spoiler: although it is Sam Loomis who takes her place at being murdered in the shower.]]

[[WMG: Chick Hogan will use the name Robert Bloch as an author name.]]
It sounds really lame, but it could happen seeing as how he's now writing about Norman.
