[[WMG:Edgeworth's memory of Case 4 is flawed from the blow to the head he took at the start of Case 3]]
Hence the sketchy tech level (flat screen tv+video tape).

[[WMG: Case 3 of [=AAI2=] will lead directly into [[spoiler:DL-6]]]]
More specifically, [[spoiler:once the case goes to trial, Manfred von Karma will receive his first penalty and take his revenge on Gregory Edgeworth]]. We already know that the third case will feature both [[spoiler:Gregory]] ''and'' [[spoiler:von Karma]], so when coupled with the precedent the first [=AAI=] set for copious amounts of ContinuityPorn, it seems natural that the writers would want to tie it in to a pre-established event in the series. What other event ''is'' there besides [[spoiler:DL-6]]?
* Looks like [[IKnewIt you guys are on the mark.]]

[[WMG: Franziska von Karma will be the one to investigate and capture Shelly de Killer.[[note]]Of course, this Troper has not yet played AAI2 and does not know if de Killer has been arrested.[[/note]]]]
More like wishful thinking; one of the games in the AAI series will involve switching to her perspective to track him down because ItsPersonal [[spoiler:(In 2-4, he shot her)]].
** In AAI2 [[spoiler: De Killer escapes, pursued by Lang.]]

[[WMG: AAI3 will feature Phoenix and the Gavin brothers and the events surrounding his disbarment.]]
[[http://aceattorney.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline When you look at the dates]], AAI2 ends only a week before Magnifi Gramarye's death and Zak's arrest. And consider the relatively small timeframe for the two games (less than four weeks between Turnabout Airlines and The Grand Turnabout).
* Alternatively, it will feature the disbarred Phoenix who simply gets involved in some sort of criminal incident (he IS still Phoenix Wright, after all) and resolves to solve it (with Edgeworth's help) regardless of his lack of court authority. The Dark Age of the Law would probably play a notable part in it.

[[WMG: What the names might be if AAI2 gets localized]]

* Manosuke Naito: Chester Knight ("Knight" to represent his being the "knight")
** Fan translation has it as "Horace Knightley."
* Gai Tojiro: Gerard Castle ("Castle" to represent his being the "rook")
** Another good one for Gai would be 'Rooks Hightower', thanks to his ChessMotifs.
** "Ethan Rooke" in the fan translation.
* Shuji Orinaka: Rocky Cage. ("Rocky" to represent his being a boxer, and "Cage" to represent the reference to a prisoner in a cage)
** "Jay Elbird" in the fan translation. They did call his pet bear Rocky though.
* Isaku Hyodo: Barry Friese ("Barry", which sounds like "Barry" to reference "digging one's own grave," while "Friese" sounds like "freeze," as a reference to ice sculptures")
** Fan translation has it as "Isaac Dover."
* Tsubasa Kagome: Robin Crane ("Crane" to match the reference to the rhyme)
** "Jill Crane" in the fan translation.
* Souta Sarushiro: Simon Yuki ("Simon" Because it sounds like simian and Yuki because it sounds like a monkey [[spoiler:And it means snow something that impacted his life]])
*** Alternatively "Simon Key", partly for the pun of "si(MONKEY)", and because [[spoiler: he's the "key" to solving the mystery of the entire thing.]]
** Close, fan translation went with "Simon Keyes."
* Teikun Ou: Rex Leonidas ("Rex" Is Latin for King and "Leonidas" Matches his Lion like appearance)
** Fan translation used "Di-Jun Huang," which is a simple transliteration from Chinese characters, just like Shi-Long Lang's name.
* Tateyuki Shigaraki: Clyde Polestar ("Clyde" Can mean warm or snug referencing that he likes to hug and Polestar means the middle point in contrast to Edgeworth)
** "Raymond Shields" in the fan translation.
* Miwa Marie: Patricia Rolles (shortened into "Patty Rolles" = "Patrols", similar meaning to the Japanese name)
** Fan translation used "Patricia Roland."

[[WMG: In "Turnabout New Year" in the manga, Gabriel's death was also murder]]
Their causes of death were the same, and considering that the killer seemed to want to set up there being a "curse" [[spoiler:so that Tucker would get scared and abdicate the presidency]], it stands to reason that Gabriel would be a natural start. As for why no one else figured this out, there are several cases in which past murders went unsolved until Phoenix or Edgeworth took the case (see DL-6, SL-9 and IS-7)

[[WMG: Desirée [=DeLite=] is the daughter of Bansai Ichiyanagi]]
* Because motorcyclists in red.

[[WMG: Franziska was in America with her father when the DL-6 happened.]]
Bansai Ichiyanagi notes that Franziska used to call him Oji-chama (in the fan translation, Unco Boo Boo), which means she was very young at the time Ichiyanagi is referring to (and at the time of the DL-6, she was two). Since Edgeworth doesn't recognise Ichiyanagi, it couldn't be after the DL-6. Of course, the problem wit this theory is that Franziska is never brought up as being in the courthouse at the time, but since her father was in court, and he and Ichiyanagi were friends, Manfred may have left his daughter in Ichiyanagi's care during the trial, and Franziska doesn't have many if any memories of this because she was, well, ''two''.

[[WMG: The Mastermind is the Phantom.]]
* More specifically, in GK2, [[spoiler: Simon Keyes]] is not yet the Phantom. However, the psychological trauma of the entire incident (and being shown to be a massive hypocrite) led [[spoiler: Keyes to abandon his own identity and suppress his emotions. He has the possibility of assassin training from Sirhan Dogen, and was able to impersonate Edgeworth's objection, suggesting that mimicry may be a talent of his. After escaping from prison, he spent years committing crimes as the Phantom until he was finally caught in Dual Destinies, by which point he probably doesn't even remember who he was or that Edgeworth had beaten him.]]

[[WMG: Justine Courtney is [[{{TabletopGame/Warhammer40000}} a time/universe displaced member of the Adeptus Arbites]]]]
It fits in with her more-than-borderline-religious view of the law; in her home universe, worshiping the Law as a manifestation of God(-Emperor) probably isn't even that much of of a notable quirk (believing that the Emperor is in fact an Emperess probably is, but nothing heretical given the gender-blind nature of the Imperium). After getting over culture shock, [[GoingNative she decided to make herself a permanent resident]] on the basis of how not-hellish the Ace Attorney universe is compared to her home, [[PrinciplesZealot although she's ideologically stuck in dogmatic and merciless application of the law]].

[[WMG: Colias Palaeno in Ace Attorney Investigations was in on the smuggling ring.]]
Everything that Palaeno did in the last case was to become the sole ambassador and go scot-free of all his crimes. The reason I believe this is because he had the statue with the plates inside. Another reason is because Manny Coachen was his secretary. I refuse to believe that he wasn't aware that his statue had plates in it or that fact that his own secretary was committing crimes behind his back. Everything he did in the final case helped to put suspicion on Quercus Alba. Palaeno allowed Edgeworth to continue investigating because he already had his secretary burn all the evidence that would indict him. He told Edgeworth about the properties about Babahlese ink which led to the conviction of Shih-na. He told Edgeworth that his statue was fake which allowed Edgeworth realized that the statues were switched. In the end of the case, he became the sole ambassador and made it so Quercus would be seen as the sole ringleader of the smuggling ring.
* This may be supported further by Palaeno's actions as described by Zinc in the ending: selling the art collector the fake Primidux statue under the pretense of it being real, just like Quercus did with the Red Alf statue. Considering what Edgeworth says regarding the remnants of the smuggling ring continuing on, even in disarray, Palaeno may have picked up when Coachen and Quercus left off.

[[WMG: The "Little Thief" system is a precursor to the [=MASON=] System in '''Apollo Justice''']]
'''First off''', when we first see the "Little Thief" system, we know it's before Apollo Justice for several reasons, one of which being that the Gavinners are the group playing on the stage in the kidnapping case.
So, what's to say that, during the break between [=AAI=] and [=AJ=] Edgeworth doesn't manage to get his hand on a version of "Little Thief". Somehow it gets to Phoenix, and Phoenix creates a virtual "time machine" that is the [=MASON=] System. That's why you may have to find something in the "future" before you can present it in the "past"- because you're not actually going between the two time periods in a logical, orderly manner!
* Also, it seems highly unlikely that Phoenix became a master programer before AJ. Alternatively, Kay could helped program the MASON system. Phoenix asks Miles for help with the jury system being reinstated and Miles contacts Kay to see if she could help with this project.
** Yeah, though with all the other stuff [[ChessMaster Phoenix]] gets into doing... Of course, that could (sort of) explan why Edgeworth was gone during the main events of AJ, he was getting the [=MASON=] system working for Phoenix, who was so cool he knew he needed it.

[[WMG: Klavier Gavin and Ema Skye will be part of [[spoiler:the Second Yatagarasu]].]]
To compliment a Wright-[=DeKiller=] WMG.
* Ema didn't actually flunk out of forensic school, she chose to come back to help Kay as a detective.
** That's why she's acting as security at the Gavinners concert, she's really watching for [[spoiler: evidence of the cocoon smuggling ring]].
* '''''OBJECTION!''''' [[spoiler:Kay specified girls of around the same age]]. Replace Klavier with Maya Fey. She would act as the defense attorney with Kay as the prosecutor. Kay said she wanted [[spoiler:the second Yagaratsu to be a team of three attractive women]]. With two previous WildMassGuessing devoted to discussion of how Kay and Ema are hot and considering Maya's sister, [[SheCleansUpNicely this could work.]]
** '''''OBJECTION!''''' Maya never meets Ema or Kay. Replace Maya with Franny. [[spoiler:The Yatagarasu needs three skillsets. Kay provides the infiltration and uses Little Thief, Ema is the investigator who covers up evidence and uses her mad science skillz, Franny controls the courts and uses her Interpol contacts to find the information for Kay to steal.]]
*** I vote for Ron [=DeLite=] being the third, personally. (You can't tell me he isn't pretty enough or girly enough! Not without lying.)
* Personally, I always thought it would be Kay, Maya and Trucy. The three sidekicks from each each arc, coming together as one. Kay would provide Little Thief, Maya would provide spiritual aid, and Trucy would provide her magical prowess.
[[WMG: The mysterious voice in the Gyakuten Kenji 2 demo, who calls Edgeworth by his first name is either Gregory Edgeworth (channeled by a medium) or Phoenix Wright.]]
Nobody else would have a reason to call him "Reiji/Miles". Also, it would for both of them make sense to ask Edgeworth [[spoiler: if he is sure that he wants to stay a Prosecutor, or if he'd rather return to his "old" dream and become a Defense Attorney after all.]] For Gregory, the reason why he would ask his son this is obvious. And for Phoenix, it would make sense as well, seeing how [[spoiler: Edgeworth himself asked Phoenix a rather simmilar question a year prior, making it a Meaningful Echo.]] Of course, the voice could also be Mikagami Hakari, A.K.A. [[FanNickname "Judgette"]], but one has to wonder why this hyper-formal woman would call him by his first name.
* '''''HOLD IT!''''' Are you referring to that new trailer for Gyakuten Kenji 2? The voice that's saying that part most definitely sounds like a man, so it's obviously not the "Judgette." Furthermore, it can't be Phoenix Wright or Gregory Edgeworth because the trailer clearly introduces a new character at those words - Tateyuki Shigaraki (the man with the brown shirt, blue tie, and hat). Apparently, [[spoiler: Shigaraki is a defense attorney who knew both Gregory and Miles Edgeworth from before DL-6, which explains why this new character refers to Edgeworth as "Reiji/Miles."]]
* '''''TAKE THAT!''''' This may all be true, but if you take a look at the date this WMG was made, you will see that it is just a few days ''before'' the latest trailer was revealed... Ergo... ''THE TROPER HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING ABOUT TATEYUKI SHIGARAKI'S NAME OR ROLE!'']].
[[WMG:Ace Attorney Investigations 2 takes place during Apollo Justice or after.]]
Come on, we need some plot, and it's not like we have some other places to put it. Hey, we might get to see the old characters again!
* {{Jossed}}. The game takes place a day after the end of the first Investigations game.

[[WMG:De Killer's role in AAI2 theory]]
After finding a successor and training them, it's time for their first job. Of course, Shelly would come along to supervise in case something went wrong. Probably why he's wearing his emblem so openly; to draw away attention from the real assassin and just freak us all the fuck out. Speaking of new assassins, I bet it's a girl... alias? Jane Doe.
* Or possibly he's hired to assassinate the case's victim but is beaten to the punch by the real killer, and part of the over-arching story covers trying to discover the client.
** [[spoiler: This section confirmed, in a way. de Killer is hired to assassinate the President of Zheng Fa, but the BigBad took care of thta years ago.]]
** Well, that's just as - if not more of an interesting thought. *scratches chin* Okay, so... If that's the case, then maybe Edgeworth will team-up with de Killer at one point to catch the real killer, [[Series/LetsMakeADeal but only if he doesn't arrest him?]]
* {{Jossed}} [[spoiler: sort of, depending on whether or not you classify de Killer giving Edgeworth advice in AAI2 as a team up.]]
[[WMG:Gumshoe is ObfuscatingStupidity.]]
One would expect that if he were really as dumb as he seems, he never would have made it through police academy, let alone still be on the force ''at all.'' [[FanWank Obviously]], his mother was a spirit medium and he decided to heat up a magatama to see what happened; it exploded, giving him a scar on his face and psychic powers by proxy. Hiding the source of his powers with an omnipresent band-aid, he deliberately "misses" important evidence when he knows the most obvious suspect is innocent.
[[WMG: Kay will next show up as a opponent for Apollo in his next game]]
Specifically she goes to law school to follow in her father's footsteps and becomes Edgeworth's apprentice. The game will be basically Edgeworth and Phoenix passive aggressively sniping at each other through surrogates like competitive parents vicariously fighting through their children. It will be hilarious.
* ... This sounds really cool. I might be disappointed if this doesn't happen.
** Also added to the mix could be Franziska's niece who was trained by Franziska.
*** And whose Courtroom Antic is her dog named Phoenix. Cue "Not you, the dog," and other related humor.

[[WMG: Kay will next show up in her own Investigations style game]]
Where she as Edgeworth's successor(and maybe part of the new Yatagarasu on the side) takes Edgeworth's investigative role and goes to trial unlike ''Edgeworth Investigates''. Having to deal with a competitive and lecherous Klavier, a older and even more bumbling OVER PROMOTED Chief Gumshoe, a surly and bitter Ema (who '''doesn't''' like that Kay actually managed to reach her dream) and goes up against Apollo and others such as older more disgusting Grossman. One case will be against a newly reinstated Phoenix defending Maya, which will be unwinnable, because Phoenix as his new [[TheChessMaster Chessmastery]] self will the universe's resident [[TheAce Ace]].
* '''OBJECTION!]]''' Isn't it because law is hindered and can't always bring about truth the reason that Kay becomes the Yatagarasu? One would think she'd find being the Yatagarasu more valuable than being a lawyer, and invest her full time in it. Plus, Kay comes across as a kleptomaniac even outside of stealing 'the truth', considering how she's always talking about stealing everything in sight (or even intangible things like lines and jobs).

[[WMG: Shi-Long Lang really is a werewolf.]]
He doesn't make much of an effort to hide it. This is because werewolves are in fact commonplace in the AA verse - that Phoenix and Apollo do not meet any in-game is mere coincidence.
* Possibly, the werewolves are unknown to the major public, and Shi-Long relies on RefugeInAudacity.

[[WMG: Shi-Long Lang is actually [[VideoGame/StarFox Wolf O'Donnell]] stuck in a parallel universe]]
Wolf flew a little too far towards the edge of the universe and ended up in Zheng Fa. The only way he can get back to the Lylat system is to take down the Interpol agents whom hold the secret to universe-to-universe hopping.

[[WMG: Kristoph Gavin defended [[spoiler:Quercus Alba]]]]
[[spoiler:Alba]] would want the best lawyer around to take his case, but seeing as Edgeworth handled the investigation Phoenix and his known associates would refuse the case as they would conclude that he's guilty. Who amongst defense attorneys at the time is both known to be exceedingly skilled and [[AmoralAttorney amoral]] enough to want to defend him? Not to mention, despite [[spoiler:losing his ambassadorship]], [[spoiler:Alba probably still has a lot of fame and wealth]]; a client of that nature would match Kristoph's M.O. to a T. Oh, and it even adds another layer to his [[spoiler:DisproportionateRetribution]]; we know from a credits sequence in ''Investigations'' that [[spoiler:Alba]] was found guilty, which would mean that Gavin lost to Edgeworth in court: [[spoiler:"Not only did I lose Zak's case to this second-rate defense attorney, he's even a known associate of that prosecutor I lost to last month! HE MUST PAY!"]]
* ...This is awesome.
* This is now my headcanon.
[[WMG: Calisto Yew is Kay's mother]]
I have no proof for this other than [[spoiler: this would be another [[Series/{{Lost}} Faraday]] threatened by their mother]].
* '''''OBJECTION!''''' Assuming her cited age in I-4 is correct ([[spoiler:it wouldn't be the only thing she's made up]]), she [[ArtisticLicenseBiology would have been twelve when Kay was born]]! A clear contradiction!
** '''''HOLD IT!''''' Assuming that [[spoiler: Shih-Na's age is correct then Calisto could be any age. The age of one fake persona should have no relevance on the age of the actual person.]] Ergo, the previous statement is based on false evidence and is circumstantial at best!
*** '''''HOLD IT!''''' Where's your evidence of [[spoiler:Shih-Na's age]]? It clearly says in [[spoiler:her profile "Age: ??"]]!
** Byrne and Tyrell only met Calisto after the KG-9 incident, Tyrell says that she knew Kay sice she was born, there was no reason at all for Byrne or anybody to hide that Calisto was his wife or Kay's mother and finally [[spoiler:Kay obviously knows who her mother was, seeing as she went to live with her relatives after his father's death, and nobody really knew Calisto all that well seeing as nobody figured that she wasn't Cece's sister until much later]], there is just no way she could be her mother.

[[WMG: The mysterious voice in the Gyakuten Kenji 2 demo, who calls Edgeworth by his first name is either Gregory Edgeworth (channeled by a medium) or Phoenix Wright.]]

** Point being? The theory is still incorrect.
[[WMG:Ace Attorney Investigations 2 takes place during Apollo Justice or after.]]

[[WMG: The reason why Edgeworth doesn't care about the law and only wishes to find the truth is because he hears of Wright's disbarment.]]
Because by finding out about Wright's disbarment, he would acknowledge that the law itself was imperfect and that only the truth is absolute. Of course, this troperette has no idea when GK2 takes place, so this could just be Edgey's take on things.
* ::''Taps papers. Grins.'':: '''''OBJECTION!''''' ::''Slams desk.'':: '''''[[http://aceattorney.wikia.com/wiki/Timeline TAKE THAT!]]''''' Phoenix's disbarment does not happen until weeks after Investigations ends!
* '''''OBJECTION!''''' Gyakuten Kenji 2 ends on April 9th 2019, a week or less away from Zak's arrest! therefore, it ''is'' possible!
** ... What is? The WMG is suggesting that the Phoenix's disbarment had an impact on Edgeworth's actions in the two Investigations games, despite, as you admit, every event of the Gramarye case happening after Gyakuten Kenji 2 had finished.

[[WMG:Quercus Alba is related to [[VideoGame/CastlevaniaOrderOfEcclesia Barlowe]]]]
While it doesn't show in their portraits, one look at Barlowe's sprite will tell all. Plus, they're both old guys with [[spoiler:more sinister goals than we initially think.]]

[[WMG:AAI 2 serves as a slight retcon to von Karma's penalty]]]]
Long story short, the official translation of the original Ace Attorney trilogy claimed that von Karma got his penalty for using forged evidence. However, in the fan translation for Ace Attorney Investigations 2, it seems to me that he got his penalty for obtaining a forced confession from Jeffery Master.

[[WMG:President Di Huang...]]
[[spoiler:...’s body double was in on the smuggling ring. Because he’s a horrible person... okay I have no evidence, but I do like the idea. Maybe the real reason why the real Di Huang was killed, was so the body double can help the ring more. Of course, once the ring started ruining his country’s economy, and thus lowering his approval ratings, he backed out. But once Quercus Alba was arrested, the body double came right back to take control. After publicly denouncing them, he planned to gain full control, and make sure it doesn’t lower his ratings this time. And he would’ve gotten away with it too, if it was for that meddling clown! Yay!]]

[[WMG:After AAI2, Kay becomes an actress playing the Great Thief Yatagarasu in movies or TV.]]
In the post-credits scene, she says that rather than [[spoiler:following in her father's footsteps]], she'll become a hero in her own way, but won't give up the title of the Yatagarasu. Maybe by this, she means she wants to play the Yatagarasu in fictional works. She already has film industry connections such as Will Powers and John Marsh, so she could get a leg up.

[[WMG: Why Yumihiko Wears Gloves]]
[[spoiler: Yumihiko is always seen wearing gloves. While he could just be trying to look fancy, he also could be hiding a deeper secret: scars. It’s known that his father, Bansai, was emotionally abusive, but it isn’t out of hand to assume he could have been physically abusive as well. Since he’s known for burning things with his lighter, perhaps he burned Yumihiko’s hands as a punishment, as a burn scar on the hand could be easily covered (with his gloves) or explained away (“oh, he just had a cooking accident”).]]
* '''''HOLD IT!''''' An interview with the developers of the game states that he wears gloves as to not get fingerprints on evidence when handling it. [[https://gyakutensaibanlibrary.blogspot.com/2021/07/is-shin-at-home-softie-for-his-son.html?m=1]]
