->''Chrono Break Cannon, fire!''

''Anime/GalaxyAngel'', the comedy space anime, was originally based off a series of SpaceOpera DatingSim games published by {{Creator/Broccoli}} that dealt with Commander Tact Mayers and his adventures with the Angel-tai.[[note]]translated in the manga as "Angel Troupe," by the FanTranslation of the games as "Angel Wing" (which appears in text in-game but was until then widely presumed to be another name for Emblem Frames), and translated in the anime as "Angel Brigade"[[/note]] The (arguably more well-known) anime is a clear AlternateUniverse, being a parody of AdaptationDecay in general by throwing out practically ''everything'' the game had to offer on purpose. [[ScheduleSlip This was mostly caused by the combination of the timing of the anime deal and delays in the game's production forcing the anime to air well in advance of the game's release]]. See [[Anime/GalaxyAngel the anime page]] for more information on the show.

In the gameverse, brand new commander Tact Mayers, barely aware of his own job and responsibilities, is thrust into the position of commander of the Elsior and its five ace pilots, the Angel-tai. They're set to protect Shiva, prince of the Transbaal Empire, after the disgraced former heir, [[BigBad Eonia]], staged a coup d'etat. Shiva is more than he seems, too (but of course, you only realize this if you get all the special scenes), and all the while, Tact is falling for one of the Angels (If taking the Manga Canon Path, [[FirstGirlWins Milfeulle]], although the games do not have a set canonical route). ''Galaxy Angel, Galaxy Angel: Moonlit Lovers'' and ''Galaxy Angel: Eternal Lovers'' cover this point in time, as well as the non-{{canon}}ical ''Galaxy Angel EX''.

It has a sequel trilogy named ''VisualNovel/GalaxyAngelII''.

There is also a manga series. ''Galaxy Angel'' was based on the first game and ''Galaxy Angel Beta'' was based on ''Galaxy Angel: Moonlit Lovers''. Additionally two LightNovels by Creator/RyoMizuno were published based on the games in 2002 and 2003.

Also see the ''Anime/GalaxyAngel'' anime series; though all of the characters have either been removed or exaggerated and the plot is completely gone, a few tropes are still shared.

----
!!Provides examples of the following tropes:

* HundredPercentCompletion: Aside from the regular storyline [=CGs=] and those that you have to get to proceed through a girl's route, there are a few extra [=CGs=] that you have to work a little harder to get.
* AbusivePrecursors: The Black Moon is either an evil factory of destruction or a corrupted factory of destruction; the White Moon is therefore either its counterpart or its opposite. This makes whoever built it either the AbusivePrecursors trope or the NeglectfulPrecursors trope. This is later subverted in the second game by Noah when you learn that [[spoiler:the proper purpose of the twin moons ''combined'' is as a deterrent against the Val-Fask]].
* AccidentalKiss: Between Tact and Ranpha in the storeroom through the magic of Zero-G.
* AcePilot: Every single one of the Angels is this. Also the Hell Hounds.
* ActuallyThatsMyAssistant: When Tact and Lester first meet Prince Shiva, the latter assumes that the more professional-looking Lester is the new appointed commander of the Elsior. Tact has to introduce himself and clear up that Lester is his adjutant.
* AerithAndBob: Takuto Mayers has a Japanese first name (also romanized as the English word "Tact") and a surname that came from a brand of Jamaican rum. The main heroine, Milfeulle Sakuraba, has a first name taken from a [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Millefeuille type of French pastry]] and a Japanese surname. Everyone else, for the most part, has weird full names (though Chitose's name is of a similar structure to Milfeulle's).
%%* AIIsACrapshoot: [[spoiler:The Black Moon.]]
* AlasPoorVillain:
** Eonia, in the manga. Despite all the terrible things he did, the page that depicts his last moments makes the readers feel bad for him. Sherry and the Hell Hounds' final moments also count.
** [[spoiler:Wein]]'s final moments of him dying in a stretcher after delivering Unit 7, the Chrono Break Cannon, and Lushati safely back in Eden is nothing short of heartbreaking.
* AliensAreBastards: The Val-Fasq race of aliens act as a nearly irredeemable race of conquerors who have terrorized the home universe the first trilogy takes place in. They are long-lived, heartlessly prideful, utilitarian, war-mongering, and also incredibly disloyal to one another if it means achieving higher positions of power. As beings operating on logic, they would most assuredly walk the path that is most logical to them even if it would be the most despicable option. They're also covered in strange purple TronLines that reflect the use of their ability to control machinery.
* AliensSpeakingEnglish: Despite being entire parallel realities apart, everyone speaks fluent Japanese with a few sprinkles of gratuitous English for good measure.
%%* AllThereInTheManual: Manga again.
* AloofLeaderAffableSubordinate: Inverted between Tact and Lester. The former is more laidback and friendly while the latter is more serious. Characters often comment how Lester fits more the expectations of a military commander than Tact.
* AttackAttackAttack:
** For all of Tact's informed tactical prowess, this is essentially what your strategy turns into. All supposed "strategizing" usually ends up being "destroy all enemies" or "destroy X". That being said, only the very first GA game suffers from this, mostly because it was a new entry; subsequent ones do throw a couple of curveballs here and there to spice things up.
** Of note from the second game onward is that designated "target" ships are often very, very strong (Rezom's flagship for example, he might be an IneffectualSympatheticVillain, but his ship packs a ''hefty'' punch). You are usually limited to two ships in early game and as such, there were quite a bit of strategizing involved insofar you don't want to accidentally send your Angels into an early retirement by rushing headlong into battle. Another quirk is "enemy reinforcements"; Eternal Lovers in particular is rather fond of dropping enemy reinforcements right beside the Elsior's spawn point.
** Trope subversions and aversions become more common as the franchise progresses. One example of note is a battle mid-way through the third game where not only is Tact's girlfriend (and therefore strongest Angel in battle) out of commission, but the Elsior is at half health and must escape the battlefield. If you simply attack every ship in sight without carefully choosing which ships to attack and when, you can end up losing the battle very quickly. It doesn't help that some enemies in that level are [[DegradedBoss the previous stage's boss]].
* AttackDrone: Mint's ship, the Trick Master, is equipped with these. They allow her to attack even as she's ending one attack run and going into another, and her LimitBreak sees her release her entire stock to blast away at every ship in range.
* BaitAndSwitch:
** In the second game, Moonlit Lovers, it actually isn't very long before you manage to beat Rezom, the leader of the "remnants" that have been causing problems. This occurs not long after the Angel Wing reunites, so this seems rather early for the final battle. [[spoiler:It's not the final battle, as Nefuria reveals herself to be the true villain.]]
** In the third game, Eternal Lovers, [[spoiler:Noah reports that both Lushati and Wein have stolen GA-007 and the Chrono Break Cannon, which briefly will make the player think that both Lushati and Wein are evil, and our heroes have to prepare themselves to confront both siblings of EDEN. Actually, only Wein is evil; Lushati is being brainwashed and is an innocent pawn.]]
* BagOfSpilling:
** For some reason the girls lose some of the hearts they had from previous games making them weaker in combat. Especially awkward with whichever girl you've chosen to be your one true love. Seems they don't love you quite so much anymore.
** The Affection system from each of the first games, that lead towards choosing one heroine, are replaced with Trust point in successive titles that provide the respective Angel with boosted stats when it's time to fight.
* TheBattlestar: The Elsior mostly serves as carrier for the Emblem Frames, but is a pretty capable combatant in its own right. The Elsior in the manga however, was nothing more than a parade ship; its only "weapon" was a fireworks launcher.
* BecomingTheMask: [[spoiler:It's all but stated that this happened to Wein. So many years of pretending to be Lushati's brother made him develop genuine affection for her, which was solidified by his interaction with the Elsior's crew. Even in his last moments he doesn't seem to fully grasp why he did it]].
* BeehiveBarrier: Vanilla and Milfie's Emblem Frames have these, with Vanilla's being considerably more powerful.
* {{BFG}}:
** Milfeulle's Lucky Star has one equipped and firing it off is her LimitBreak. The large railguns on Forte's Happy Trigger and sniper cannons on Chitose's Sharpshooter also count (with said sniper cannons possibly being involved in ''their own'' limit breaks).
** The Chrono Break Cannon is roughly 1/3 the size of the Elsior, and when later mounted on GA-007, it was pretty much 99% of the entire ship.
* BigDamnHeroes:
** Luft Weizen does it ''twice'' in the first game. First in Chapter 5, when his fleet shows up to save the Elsior as it tries to escape an ambush, and later during the final chapter, attacking the Black Moon's engines to slow it down as the Elsior gets in range to fire the Chrono Break cannon.
** The Imperial Navy reinforces the Final Weapon suicide run in the final mission of ''Moonlit Lovers''.
** The last time, and in the most epic fashion, is the White Moon's [[GondorCallsForAid call for reinforcements]] that redirected the 8th Fleet during the desperate retreat from [[spoiler:Unit 7 being piloted by Wein after he stole it and the subsequent Val-Fasc ambush]].
* BigEater: Ranpha, Forte, and Chitose, when the occasion calls for it. In the first game, Mint sometimes teases Milfeulle about possibly getting fat due to Milfeulle's love of sweets, but in terms of pure volume Milfeulle doesn't really eat much more than Vanilla or Mint.
* BigFancyHouse: Mint's, though it is only seen on her route and mostly from the inside. As she's a heiress to her family's company, it's justified that she has one.
* BigFirstChoice: Due to the lack of OldSaveBonus, Moonlit Lovers and Eternal Lovers start out with the player picking which of the Angels is Tact's love interest.
* BossBattle: The game sometimes throw designated target ships that pretty much fulfills the role for a Boss Battle. Said target ships are often thickly armored (Val-Fasc Battlecarriers), heavily armed (Rezom's Flagship), have plenty of escorts (Rowil's Flagship), or all of the above.
* BossSubtitles: The manga provides captions with the names of each of the members of the Hell Hounds since, unlike their game counterparts, they don't bother introducing themselves with other than the team's name.
* BouquetToss: In Milfeulle's route in Eternal Lovers, she mentions how she and Tact passed by a small church celebrating a wedding during their vacations, and Milfie got so excited she actually tried (but failed) to catch the bouquet.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Pretty much every single primary character. More literally in Mint's case on the bunny ears side.
* ButThouMust: An interesting variation occurs at the beginning of the first game when you are requested to take command of the Angel Troupe. While you will inevitably end up taking the position, playing this Trope straight, the amount of times you try to refuse will have an effect on the girls RelationshipValues. To elaborate: Ranpha, Forte and Vanilla will be impressed by your dutifulness if you say "yes" the first time or if you refuse only once. On the other hand, if you refuse twice or three times, Mint and Milfeulle will admire the fact you carefully considered the offer before accepting.
* BridalCarry: One CG image in ''Moonlit Lovers'' depicts Tact carrying Ranpha this way, and another in ''Eternal Lovers'' has him doing it with Forte.
* CallARabbitASmeerp: Space Rabbits, {{Space Whale}}s, Space Roses, ''Space Roe'', ''Space Salmon''...
* CallingYourAttacks: The Angels in battle during their respective Hyper Weapon activations; Tact in the cut scenes when firing the Chrono Break Cannon.
* CavalryBetrayal: Villainous example in Eternal Lovers. The reinforcements Rowil was expecting end up turning back at the last second when he's about to be defeated, which doesn't go unnoticed by the Elsior's crew. [[spoiler:These troops later come back under Wein's command, who went up in the ranks with a KlingonPromotion]].
* ChangeTheUncomfortableSubject: In Moonlit Lovers, in Forte's route Chapter 5, [[TheTease she makes a few remarks leaving implications of what she would do with Tact in private]], to mixed reactions from the rest of the Angels and Tact's embarrassment. Fortunately, Chitose steps up to save him by asking when they're returning to the White Moon (to which Ranpha lampshades how she's just trying to change the topic).
* AChildShallLeadThem: Shiva Transbaal becomes emperor at the age of ten.
* ChildSoldiers: Ranpha (exactly 18) and Forte (22) are the only Moon Angels not to fall under this trope in the first trilogy, for Milfie and Chitose are both 17, Mint is 16, and Vanilla is 13.
* ConverseWithTheUnconscious: In EL when Tact's chosen Angel has been [[spoiler:shot down due to Val-Fasq treachery]].
%%* CoolShip: The Elsior.
* CryIntoChest: Tact offers his chest for Vanilla to cry in the first game [[spoiler:after her pet rabbit dies]], and for Mint in the second [[spoiler:when they reconcile after she gets jealous of Chitose]].
* CustomUniform: Every female member of the Angel Wing wears a stylized version of the regular military uniform that [=NPCs=] wear. The most customized uniform easily has to be Ranpha's, which consists of a red qipao and matching high heels.
%%* CutscenePowerToTheMax: Happens every finale, but only with the Angel Tact romances.
* CuttingOffTheBranches: The events of Shiva's sub-route in the first game are rendered non-canon in the second, as regardless of the chosen route Shiva assumes the throne of Transbaal [[spoiler:and reveals publically that she's a woman on her own accord]].
* CyberneticsEatYourSoul: Played up with the Hell Hounds, after [[spoiler:Noa merges them with their Emblem Frames]].
* DanceOfRomance: The first game has on each route an animated cutscene of Tact dancing with his chosen Angel at the Fargo ball. The only exception is Forte, who doesn't get the chance to do so due to her and Tact having to stop the assassins that go after Prince Shiva, though she does get a proper dance scene in ''Moonlit Lovers''.
* DarkestHour: While the cast come out of each conflict relatively safely, they have their own vulnerable moments where all hope seems lost.
** The earliest example from Galaxy Angel being right after Rhome, the current base of the loyalist fleets, is utterly decimated by the Black Moon's main cannon. The Angel Wing do their best to try and escort civilian ships away from the fighting but the Black Moon's automated facilities keep providing Eonia's forces reinforcements.
** Moonlit Lovers also has one brief one in the final chapter where despite all the positivity and faith placed on Tact and his chosen Angel to pilot the Unit 07, the Angel in question begins to have doubt over their chances of coming back alive.
** Eternal Lovers has two.
*** A fruitless battle against [[spoiler:Wein and the hijacked Unit 07]] leaves the Angel Wing in need of repair, the Elsior in need of reinforcement as enemies begin to close in while they were too busy with their main target. In what is considered the toughest mission in the first trilogy, which is saying something because the games are exceptionally simple, the Elsior already at half health must be escorted to a safe-zone while navigating against a hefty fleet of defensive enemy positions and long-range attackers. All of this while you're down one Angel who is your ace or possibly even your only healer.
*** The vessel carrying Gern's Chrono Quake Bomb is destroyed, but the bomb itself is intact without any signs of damage. The Angel Wing unleash their hyper weapons in a desperate attempt to stave off another apocalypse. Thankfully, Tact and his chosen Angel know exactly what needs to be done. While there is hope in the couple's eyes, the rest of the Angel Wing wildly protest to try and have their friends return to them instead of going after the bomb to stop its detonation up close.
* DatingSim: One of ''the'' early prominent examples, that isn't also a HGame, like many others.
* DefensiveFeintTrap: In Chapter 2 of Eternal Lovers, Tact uses this strategy in order to lure Rowil's fleet towards the Elsior, while taking a hidden route to ambush his flagship from behind.
* DefrostingIceQueen:
** Ranpha plays this to its greatest degree in her dealings with Tact, not trusting him at all and chewing him out for perceived slights in their initial encounters, but being the most lovestruck of the girls in the continuity where Tact pursues a relationship with her.
** Forte also does it to a lesser degree, as she considers Tact to be an EnsignNewbie at first, but eventually starts trusting him.
* DidNotGetTheGirl: Tact can nail the dance ball, lock himself onto an Angel's route, and solve their specific route problem down the line. All of that can be for naught [[LastSecondEndingChoice if he messes up a rather obvious final choice before the final battle with Eonia]] where he can potentially lose the Angel's trust and not end up with her, and instead be sent back to the Patrol Fleet with Lester like how the game started out.
* DisappearsIntoLight: What occurs to Tact and his chosen Angel, and her Emblem Frame, in the final battle in Eternal Lovers.
* DisasterDominoes: Milfie's luck sometimes causes this. The earliest instance is on the first game, when after being provoked by Ranpha into punching the sandbag, the chain holding it snaps and it pretty much tips over every single piece of equipment in the Elsior's training room.
* DoItYourselfThemeTune: The opening song of the first game Eternal Love, which is emblematic of the first trilogy as a whole, is sung by the five members of the Moon Angel Wing. When Chitose joins, the theme is updated to include parts for her as well.
* DoNotAdjustYourSet: Late in Moonlit Lovers, [[spoiler:Nefuria hijacks the whole Transbaal communications networks to broadcast her ResistanceIsFutile message]].
* EarthShatteringKaboom: [[spoiler:Planet Rhome in the first game, courtesy of Eonia. Wein attempts it on Planet Juno during Eternal Lovers using the hijacked Chrono Break Cannon, but thankfully this time the Angels are able to stop it]].
* EdibleThemeNaming: The Angels and several of the female supporting cast members are named after different kinds of sweets and desserts. Villains, on the other hand, are named after alcoholic drinks.
* ElevatorFailure: In Chapter 2 of the first game, one event has Tact and Milfie getting trapped in an elevator due to an apparent malfunction (caused by an enemy drone that infiltrated the Elsior). They're rescued by Ranpha who force opens the doors with her bare hands to get them out.
%%* {{Elseworld}}: Although, technically, the games were supposed to come first.
* EmpathicWeapon: The HALO systems in the Angels' Frames/Wings can read their pilots' desires, and shut down when the wrong person is piloting them or when the usual pilot has a [[HeroicBSOD breakdown]].
* EmpathyPet: Vanilla's "Nanomachine Pet". [[spoiler:This causes a problem in Eternal Lovers when Vanilla's fears about Tact someday growing bored of her go out of control, causing ''the nanomachine pet'' to go out of control as well.]]
* EnemyDetectingRadar: Mint's Trick Master has been stated to have been equipped with more powerful radars than other Frames. Coco, the Elsior's radar technician, also frequently warns about enemies appearing both outside of game battles and in them.
* EscortMission: Several civilian escort missions in the original Galaxy Angel, a single escort mission in Moonlit Lovers in Forte's route [[spoiler:although the escortee isn't who he appears]], and a single escort mission in Eternal Lovers when Lushati and Wein show up.
* EvilChancellor: [[spoiler:Noah in Galaxy Angel 1, Nephelia in Galaxy Angel Moonlit Lovers, and Wein in Galaxy Angel Eternal Lovers.]]
* ExpansionPack: ''Eternal Lovers'' included a mod for ''Moonlit Lovers'' that unlocked Chitose as an available girl. A similar scenario was added to the Galaxy Angel II trilogy to make room for Natsume.
* EyepatchOfPower: Parodied. When [[BridgeBunnies Almo & Coco]] ask Tact about the reason behind Lester's eyepatch, one of the possible answers is that he uses it to conceal a miniature laser ray.
* FerrisWheelDateMoment: At the beginning of Milfeulle's route in Moonlit Lovers, she and Tact have a moment at the Ferris Wheel while sharing some snacks. Sadly it gets interrupted by an attack on the park.
* TheFightingNarcissist: Camus is a Piloting Narcissist.
* FirstGirlWins: If the player as Tact picks Milfeulle as the love interest.
* FirstKiss: A major plot point in Milfeulle's route in Moonlit Lovers and is revisited due to another plot point in Eternal Lovers. Vanilla and Chitose get their first kisses near the end of Eternal Lovers, Mint first kisses Tact on the cheek while they're on the plane after Tact rescues her from being trapped by her father (no CG is devoted to this), and Forte first kisses Tact before the battle with Eonia (again, no CG is devoted to this). Ranpha's first kiss is by accident due to a zero-gravity malfunction.
* {{Foreshadowing}}: In the first game, when recommending that Tact take an Angel to the dance on Rhome, Luft says, "Who will your last dance be with...it may seem minor, but it could affect your entire future". As it turns out, it ''does'' affect Tact's entire future: the Angel he invites to the dance also becomes his girlfriend in the first trilogy and eventually his ''wife'' in the second trilogy (and even getting the normal ending in the first game still foreshadows Tact's entire future -- because that's what leads to him becoming romantically involved with Chitose).
* FunWithAcronyms: The [[CoolShip Emblem Frames]] piloted by the Angels are different from other ships in that each one possesses a '''H'''uman Brain '''A'''rtificial Brain '''L'''inking '''O'''rganization System or H.A.L.O. for short.
* FuroScene:
** Partially subverted, in the first game. The girls happily invite Tact into the furo so he can ogle their beauty...because they aren't naked. They're wearing bathing suits, so there's nothing embarrassing for Tact to see.
** The final CG of Forte's route in Eternal Lovers shows her bathing together with Tact in a hotspring. Doubles as a CallBack and BookEnds as the two are leaning back-to-back with each other, similar to another scene they share in the first game.
%%* GhibliHills: The holodeck and whale rooms.
* GlassCannon: Ranpha's Emblem Frame, the "Kung-Fu Fighter". Speedy and maneuverable, and with great firepower, but has the lowest shields among the squad and cannot take a lot of punishment.
* GoodColorsEvilColors: The Transbaal Military uniform is composed of White and Black in equal amounts as well as a bit of Gold. The Angels, [[CustomUniform in particular]], got one extra color each: Pink for Milfeulle, Cheery Red for Ranpha, Blue for Mint, Natural Green for Vanilla, Purple for Forte (this one is a surbversion since Forte is certainly not evil but rather more mature) and Navy Blue for Chitose. Takuto, as the commander, also gets some Blue and Cheery Red. Finally, their battleships are mostly White with some Blue, Gold and Natural Greens. The White Moon is mostly White with some Gold and the Angel Frames reflect their pilot's colors. As for the bad guys, there's Eonia and Sherry whom dress in Black and Purple. The Hell Hounds get Black, Bloody Red, Unnatural Green, Purple, Silver and Dark Blue. All of their ships are Black with Bloody Red or Purple. And finally, there's the Black Moon which is mostly Black with some Bloody Red. [[spoiler:And really finally, there are the Val-Fasq, who use varying shades of Unearthly Purple & Violet and explode ''green''. Even their hair and skin is varying purple/violet shades, usually very pale in their skin.]]
* GoodMorningCrono: ''Moonlit Lovers'' starts with Tact dreaming as he recounts the events that happened in the first game, and being woken up from his nap by his chosen angel (the only exception being Chitose's route).
* GoodScarsEvilScars: [[BloodKnight Red-Eye]] has a scar that goes from between his eyes down to his chest. [[TheDragon Sherry Bristol]] has one across her left cheek.
* GuideDangIt: Getting all the Shiva [=CGs=] in the first game. The problem is that getting the subroute where those [=CGs=] are unlocked from requires you to choose very specific responses and to visit certain areas that don't have portraits on them. You can screw it up as early as chapter 2. The only other CG in the relevant collection requires said subroute to NOT occur. To clarify, here's how to get the subroute: Step one, when you first meet Prince Shiva at the beginning of the game, you need to be honest with him (not fudging the truth) when he asks what's happened to the White Moon and planet Transbaal. Step two, in the Mint-centric chapter, during one of the free time segments you'll find both Forte and Shiva in the vending machines area. (You must buy Shiva a chess set). Both the top and middle choices increase Forte's affection; to set up more meetings with Shiva later, however, you need to pick the middle choice. Step three, every opportunity after that you get a free time segment, choose at least one time block to visit Shiva in the royal room. If you successfully pursue every opportunity, you should begin Shiva's subroute right before Tact has to pick a girl to ask to the dance. (This is the hardest part.)
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:Wein ends up sacrificing his life for Lushati.]]
* HelpingWouldBeKillstealing: In Moonlit Lovers, this is Forte's reasoning on not directly helping Chitose's inability for flexible thinking. Left alone, she will cause disaster sooner or later, as evidenced in the aftermath of a particular mission where she froze up, [[spoiler:never expecting the freighter she rescued was an enemy in disguise, despite nigh-blatant clues]]. However, telling her directly would most likely backfire; as Forte herself puts it, Chitose may even grow paranoiac and start suspecting even the regular coffee she drinks, thinking it is poisoned. Forte understands that it's not something you taught at the Academy, but learned through experience.
* HeroicBSOD: Each girl has such a major one in Eternal Lovers that it messes up their minds, causing Milfeulle to get amnesia, Ranpha to reflexively hit Tact if he touches her, Mint's telepathy to reverse itself and broadcast Mint's thoughts instead, Forte having panic attacks when trying to pick up a gun (the only case to not result directly from Tact shooting her down, but more from the hijacking that necessitated it in the first place), Vanilla's nanomachine pet mutating into a horrible wolf monster, and Chitose transferring her romantic feelings for Tact to Lester instead.)
* HeroicMime: Throughout the entire trilogy, Tact only gets to speak in certain pivotal scenes.
* HeroicSacrifice:
** Tact and his chosen Angel risk life and limb to save the empire in Moonlit Lovers in facing the O-Gaub supercarrier alone to utilize experimental technology to destroy it.
** Eternal Lovers does this again when Tact and his chosen Angel use their literal power of love to suppress the detonation of the Chrono Quake Bomb.
* HoldingBackThePhlebotinum: The Chrono Break Cannon, be it due to its impracticality, it's charge time, or the fact that it's a giant WaveMotionGun (the latter meaning it's so powerful if it fell into the wrong hands it would cause a tragedy). [[spoiler:Wein]] proves that to be true in Eternal Lovers.
* HumanityIsInfectious: [[spoiler:Wein]] learned it the hard way, just before succumbing to his injuries.
* InconsistentSpelling:
** The official source likes to change things around just when we've gotten used to the old spellings. ''Elsior'' was fine, it was around for a few games, but then all of a sudden, it's called the ''Elle Ciel'' instead, which doesn't even match the katakana. Also, many of the food-based names purposely misspell the food, like Milfeulle [millefeuille].
** Because the games have never been released in English, there are also a few terms with no consistent romanization at all. [[spoiler:Are the aliens from the [=GA1=] expansions the Val-Fasq, the Valfasc, the Varu Fasuku? Somewhere in between? No one is certain, and various spellings are even used on this very page.]]
* InsertSong: The final missions across each game, along with a handful of other missions, will usually feature the game's particular opening blasting as the Angels tear through the enemy fleets to save the day.
** The first Galaxy Angel's final confrontation features the first rendition of Eternal Love.
** Moonlit Lovers concludes with a rendition of Eternal Love sung by all six of the Angel Wing.
** Eternal Lovers' finale for the first trilogy ends with Angelic Symphony.
* InstantWinCondition: Both ways in combat -- if the ship Tact is on is ever destroyed, the mission automatically ends in failure. This takes precedence over victory conditions, so if you had just defeated that target flagship just seconds before, you still lose. On the flip side, if the Elsior is surrounded by enemy ships and all of the target opponents are defeated, the remaining enemies will just stop.
* IntimateLotionApplication: In Chapter 4 of ''Galaxy Angel: Moonlit Lovers'' the Angels [[BeachEpisode invite Tact to the Space Whale room and hang out at the beach]] and Forte flirtatiously asks Tact to put some sunscreen on her back, with Mint asking to be next, which causes Tact to get nervous.
* {{Irony}}: Five years before the start of the first game, [[TheEvilPrince Eonia Transbaal]] showed an [[AmbitionIsEvil abnormal interest]] in the LostTechnology of the White Moon and, as a result, he was stripped of his royal rights and exiled from the Transbaal Empire. Now, guess what he finds while wandering out there? He even [[LampshadeHanging lampshades]] this fact in the last-to-next chapter.)
* ItsAllMyFault: This is Tact's general demeanor after [[spoiler:being forced to shoot down his girlfriend, severely injuring her, because of a combination of Val-Fasc sabotage and an argument he had with his girlfriend before the battle in which that shooting was necessary]].
%%* KeystoneArmy: The opposing forces, all the time.
* LastGirlWins: If the player as Tact picks Chitose as the love interest.
* LeaningOnTheFourthWall: Luft does this to some extent when briefing Tact about the dance party on Rhome -- when going on about how "this decision could decide your destiny", it sounds like Luft is really addressing the player rather than Tact. Tact even briefly comments on this.
* LeaveTheTwoLovebirdsAlone: The final scene of Ranpha's route in the first game ends this way. Coco and Almo read the mood between Tact and Ranpha and decide to leave the bridge. Lester quickly follows, not wanting to deal with them being lovey-dovey with each other.
* {{Leitmotif}}: Every single Angel has her own musical piece; including slow and vocalized versions.
* LevelUpAtIntimacy5: The Angels get generally more powerful the more they like Tact (even when not on their "route"), and your chosen Angel will be ''bonkers'' powerful once you commit to them. This is ''in-universe'', too -- by the time ''Eternal Lovers'' rolls around, the Angels will be commenting on this phenomenon and the chosen heroine will be regarded as the squad ace & combat lynchpin. This fact is exploited to the max during Eternal Lovers by [[spoiler:Wein]].
* LifesavingMisfortune: In the second chapter of the first game, a malfunction in the Lucky Star's engine results in Milfie being unable to deploy for a mission along with the rest, forcing the engineers to fix it up. This turns in their favor when the Elsior is caught in an ambush by Rezom, and Milfie is able to deal with the enemies in the rear while the rest of the Angels are battling in the front.
%%* LightningBruiser: The chosen girl once her affection scores are high enough.
* LostTechnology: Pretty much lying around willy-nilly, apparently. The discovery of one by a disgraced Prince kicks off the plot of the first game.
* LoveConfession: As a dating sim, this is a given.
** Milfie has it when she and Tact end up trapped by a missile attack that impacts the Elsior's hull, after Milfie has been avoiding Tact out of fear of him getting hurt when her bad luck strikes. Tact assures her that he's willing to take the risks if that means he can be with her, and reinforces it by saying that she's his "Goddess of Fortune".
** Ranpha has it when, after a misunderstanding makes her think Tact isn't interested in her, she locks up in her room to cry. Tact goes off to find the diary she gave him before, and when he can't write his feelings he proceeds to tell Ranpha all the things he likes about her and declare out loud that he loves her.
** Mint has it when, after being kidnapped by her father, Tact comes to her house to rescue her personally. Tact declares to Darno that he'll take Mint with him and promises to take care of her, and she gives him a kiss on the cheek as thanks.
** Forte has it when she volunteers to take the mission to destroy the attack satellite to clear the Elsior's path, despite Tact's concerns for her safety. In this case, ''she'' is the one who confesses first that she fell in love with Tact and wants to protect him, doubling as a DeclarationOfProtection.
** Vanilla doesn't have her proper love confession until the second game, after spending the first two chapters with Chitose misunderstanding their relationship as being LikeBrotherAndSister.
** Chitose is the only one whose confession doesn't come until the final game of the trilogy, where she and Tact are finally able to tell their feelings to each other during the EDEN ball. [[HighPressureEmotion The scene shows Chitose beet red]] before she ends up fainting.
* LoveHurts: Eternal Lovers has this as a plot point on most routes. [[spoiler:Wein intentionally uses Lushati to drive a wedge between Tact and his Angel (by means of causing several NotWhatItLooksLike incidents), causing the Angel to start fearing that Tact would stop loving her, which later coupled with her Emblem Frame being sabotaged causes her mental damage. In the aftermath, Shatyarn explains that, the more you love someone, the more it hurts to be separated from them]].
* LoveMakesYouEvil: In the manga, it's hinted several times that the main reason behind Eonia's coup'd etat was [[spoiler:his love for the Moon Goddess Shatyarn.]] Averted in the game, where Eonia's motivation is to make the Empire [[UtopiaJustifiesTheMeans an utopia using Lost Technology]]
* MacrossMissileMassacre: Forte's ship, the Happy Trigger, gets one of these as her Limit Break.
* MathematiciansAnswer: In EL when Vanilla and Chitose are exchanging diaries, Chitose asks what type of woman Tact would like. Vanilla's answer? One that makes good coffee.
* MechaMooks: Played straight in every single one of the games, where the antagonist's army is composed mostly of unmanned ships with only a very few organic beings around. Probably done in order to keep [[BlackAndWhiteMorality the line between good and evil clear.]]
* MightyGlacier: Forte's Emblem Frame, the "Happy Trigger". In the original trilogy, Happy Trigger possesses the highest firepower and second best defense out of all available Emblem Frames. Correspondingly, it is also the slowest. Great for destroying heavily armored opponents, not good when pursuing fleeing ones (that's Ranpha's job).
* MilhollandRelationshipMoment: Done once in the Mint route in Galaxy Angel Eternal Lovers, the third game. Being a snarky telepath, having her powers reversed (essentially a thought broadcast instead of mind-reading) really puts Mint down. But after all is said and done, and the people whom she snarked about came forward with their own take on things, it all sets up for a big Aesop on trusting other people and honesty. Oh, and trusting your own lover.[[labelnote:Detailed explanation]]Mint's powers have malfunctioned as the result of a head injury, so instead of Mint being able to read other people's minds, everyone ''else'' has access to ''her'' mind. And she can't control it, so a bunch of insulting thoughts about the other Angels came tumbling out of her head. Due to a combination of this and other factors, Mint tried to isolate herself from everyone else. Tact's managed to lure her out with a heartwarming speech over loudspeaker, but Mint is still worried that the Angels will all hate her now. Then the other Angels actually show up, and Mint braces herself for the hatred and scorn, setting up the Milholland Relationship Moment...and instead of getting angry at Mint for her earlier negative thoughts, the rest of the Angels share ''their own'' negative thoughts about Mint! Forte doesn't like Mint's extra set of ears, since Forte is jealous that Mint is doing something nobody else can pull off. Ranpha is jealous of Mint's small body, but only because if Ranpha was small like Mint, Ranpha could wear cuter clothes. Milfeulle says sometimes Mint can be surprisingly harsh with her jokes and sometimes Milfeulle starts crying. Chitose thinks Mint should try to be less sarcastic. Finally, Vanilla asks Mint to please stop pulling on the space rabbits' ears when she plays with them. And Tact himself chimes in that he'd prefer it if Mint didn't enjoy teasing other people so much. Well, now they've all told Mint how they feel, does Mint hate them now? Mint says of course not...''aha'', in reality, sharing their real feelings with each other has made them all closer together! Mint should have a little more faith in them.[[/labelnote]]
* AMillionIsAStatistic:
** Played straight in the first game. The opening movie shows Eonia's army bombarding the surface of Planet Transbaal. And later [[spoiler:we have the Black Moon blasting Satellite City Fargo and Planet Rhome.]] Both scenes depict the destruction from orbit in a very detailed way, to the point even the good guys comment they cannot estimate the numbers. To her credit, though, Milfie is pretty freaked out by all the death occurring around her in the opening movie, and a small subcurrent of her plotline involves dealing with the staggering amount of suffering she's seen. (Ultimately, though, [[LighterAndSofter the game's a fair bit too light-hearted to really pursue the idea in detail]].) [[spoiler:After Rhome is devastated, ''all'' of the pilots will have some "cockpit chat" about what happened and how they're trying to cope mentally in various ways.]]
** Subverted in the second game during the fifth chapter. After they're forced to retreat when the O-Gaub [[NoSell shrugs off the Chrono Break Cannon]], the constant casualty report on ''entire'' systems makes Shiva feel extremely upset over not being able to do anything to stop it, and the Angel Wing's morale falls pretty low as well as a result. Even [[spoiler:Noah]] feels responsible for all those deaths, since [[spoiler:the Black Moon technology was supposed to protect them]].
* AMindIsATerribleThingToRead: Mint suffers from this, in multiple ways. Her ability to read minds caused her problems when growing up since she could see people's true intentions, and her ''father's'' mind-reading abilities caused problems when her father would read what Mint wanted but not ''why'' she wanted it. In Moonlit Lovers, she relies on her mind-reading so much that when it starts to fail, it puts a serious strain in her relationship with Tact. Finally, [[spoiler:in Eternal Lovers, after Mint suffers a head injury because Tact had to shoot down her malfunctioning Trick Master, her telepathic powers malfunction and broadcast her thoughts to everyone else.]]
* MissionControl: The Bridge team of Lester, Almo, and Coco fill this role.
* MistakenForCheating: Happens to Tact on every route (except Forte's, and Chitose's since they're still not officially together) in Eternal Lovers, due to finding himself in several awkward situations with Lushati, leading the Elsior crew to suspect he may be cheating on his Angel.
* MoodDissonance: The setting of the games span at least two realities each with their own history and culture. There's some genuine attention to world-building going on in the background, especially in the second trilogy where there's more political talk than ever, but it's kind of tough to look past how most things are just named Space-something.
** Consider that the opening seconds of the first game involves an empire's capital being bombarded from orbit and both its palace, emperor, and upper level figures are annihilated in a flash of light within seconds of the game's start, even before the opening exposition lines.
* MultipleEndings: The first Galaxy Angel game's epilogues all differ slightly in where the characters end up going before reuniting in Moonlit Lovers.
** Milfie's ending has her [[spoiler: believing that she used up all her luck to save the Elsior and Tact and has her retire from the military. Tact does the same to pursue her, leaving Lester to lead the Elsior and the remaining Angel Wing.]]
** Ranpha's ending, as well as Mint's and Vanilla's, has each of them joining Tact and Lester into continuing to survey the outskirts of the empire for Lost Technology.
** Forte's ending has her replace Lester as Tact's Second in Command.
** Tact's "Bad Ending" where he fails to solidify his relationship with his chosen Angel before the final battle with Eonia has him return to patrolling duties with Lester without the Elsior and the Angel Wing. This is the set-up for Chitose's route.
* MyDefenseNeedNotProtectMeForever: Pulled spectacularly by [[spoiler:Wein]]. After managing to [[spoiler:steal Unit 7, with the Chrono Break Cannon attached to it]], he was pursued by Tact and his Angel Brigade (sans one, who was out of commission). They caught up with [[spoiler:Wein]] who has rendezvoused with a sizable defensive force. After the battle is done, Tact corners him, only for [[spoiler:Wein]] to reveal that he can activate the superweapon that he stole, on top of holding [[spoiler:Lushati]] hostage. After he gets Tact and the Angels to back down, ''then'' he reveals that he has an even ''bigger'' fleet coming, and the whole thing was just a ruse to begin with. To top it all off, the superweapon gambit he pulled was not a bluff and he fires it at Tact, the effect of which makes you [[GameplayAndStoryIntegration start with much less health in the next battle]].
* MysteriousWaif: Some paths' Chitose, arguably, and ''definitely'' the manga version of her. Also Shatoyan and Lushati.
* {{Nanomachines}}: Vanilla's specialty is being able to work with nanomachines. While this is mostly used for healing, her control over it is such that her Nanomachine pet can be more accurately described as an extension of her self.
* NeglectfulPrecursors: Those who created the Black and White Moon are either this or outright AbusivePrecursors. It turns out that it's neither.
* NewEraSpeech: Eonia Transbaal broadcasts one of these after executing a coup'd etat in the beginning of the first game. Tact can respond fiercely against it, carefully consider all sides, or even agree with Eonia (which of course, carries a penalty to the girls' RelationshipValues).
* NightmareSequence: Ironically, the introductory mission in Eternal Lovers is part of one of these, as it ends with the Elsior and the Angel Wing surrounded by a huge enemy fleet that destroys them completely. Tact immediately wakes up in shock.
* NonLethalKO: If any one of the Angels gets shot down in battle, she automatically withdraws back to the hangar so her Emblem Frame can be fixed. But after the battle she scolds you for your subpar orders. The Transbaal Navy ships also automatically retreat when "destroyed".
* NotWhatItLooksLike:
** In Mint's route in Moonlit Lovers, she catches Tact in a rather compromising position when a half-asleep Chitose hugs him and mistakes him for her dad. This leads to Mint avoiding him for quite a while until they can talk things out.
** Happens on every route in Eternal Lovers (except Forte's), where Tact finds himself in several awkward situations with Lushati that make the crew and his Angel that he may be cheating on her. [[spoiler:In this case, it's intentional on Wein's part to drive a wedge between them]].
* NoRangeLikePointBlankRange: The Chrono Break Cannon is usually a long-ranged weapon, [[spoiler:but the finale of Moonlit Lovers has Tact and his Angel firing it at point-blank range to destroy the O-Gaub and Nefuria with it. Justified because they had to get close to disable the ship's shield with the Negative Field Canceller in order to destroy it]].
* OhCrap:
** Happens to the heroes side and the antagonists, in EL when [[spoiler:Wein makes Unit 7 grow wings]] is a collective moment for the Elsior and the Angels.
** Also Prince Eonia when he sees the Chrono Break Cannon coming right towards him.
* OlderThanTheyLook:
** Mint is practically an ''adult'', going by her age. On her route she actually comments with some despair that she seems to have stopped growing entirely, and seems partly worried about how that might reflect on Tact.
** [[spoiler:Noah, being either basically a computer program or a human held in stasis for centuries depending on the "Noah" in question, is also rather substantially older than her appearance suggests.]]
** Finally, [[spoiler:the Val-Fasc. Many are ReallySevenHundredYearsOld, if they're to be believed at all.]]
* OneHeadTaller: Tact to Mint/Vanilla if he pursues their respective routes. Due to what seems an animation oversight, a cutscene in Galaxy Angel: Eternal Lovers does this to [[StatuesqueStunner Forte]], of all people. Vanilla's case is due to her being the youngest of the team at the time, at 13, while Mint's is due to her worry that she stopped growing completely. Forte's is especially weird given she normally wears high heels.
* OneWayVisor: Or cockpit, in this case. The Emblem Frames don't have any visible outer windows on their cockpits, but from the inside the Angels have a perfect tridimensional view of their surroundings.
* OneWingedAngel: Though it's not the Angels themselves who pull it.
* OrbitalBombardment: The beginning of the first game has Eonia's fleet raining death over planet Transbaal, destroying the royal palace and every member of the royal family with it.
* PimpedOutDress: For the EDEN dance in Eternal Lovers, all of the Angels are given very fancy dresses, even more than the ones they wore in Fargo during the first game.
* PlanetSpaceship: The White and Black Moon. Although the Black Moon is shown explicitly to move through space, the White Moon was assumed dormant...until Eternal Lovers where it practically warps to your place.
* PleaseGetOffMe: One event in the first game results in Tact and Milfie ending up this way after a popcorn popper explodes on them, leaving them in a heap and a with lot of popcorn all over. Tact doesn't ask Milfie to get off him until they've actually eaten a bit of the popcorn and decided to take the rest to the cafeteria.
%%* {{Precursors}}: The Eden civilization
%%** The above are revealed to be predated by the Val-Fasq and the original residents of ABSOLUTE.
* PowerGivesYouWings: A prevalent theme in all the games. [[spoiler:The Moon Angel Squad Frames get a set of [[ColorCodedForYourConvenience feathery white]] [[GoodWingsEvilWings angelic wings]]; in the case of the Rune Angels, the wings are the same color as their ships. Finally, the Hell Hounds' [[EvilCounterpart Dark Angels]] get a pair of [[GoodWingsEvilWings skeletal]] [[ColorCodedForYourConvenience purple]] [[PureEnergy solid wings]] after their [[VillainOverride final power up]].]]
* PowerLimiter: Originally, the Emblem Frames were equipped with a Power Limiter before being removed by Shatoyan prior to their final battle.
* ThePowerOfLove: An important concept since the Emblem Frames are powered by the emotions and state of mind of their pilot. Whoever is Takuto's girlfriend is essentially an unstoppable killing machine, even {{the medic}} Vanilla.
** In the original game, Tact can choose to dump the girl (if it's Milfeulle, Ranpha, or Vanilla, or if it's Mint or Forte, make such a horrendously bad choice that he's the one who gets dumped). This makes her absolutely worthless in the final 2 battles and makes those two battles A LOT harder. On the other hand, since the Chitose path in Moonlit Lovers assumes you did this in the original game, it could be argued this choice makes the Power of Love possible for Chitose.
** By the end of Eternal Lovers, Tact's bond with the chosen Angel is strong enough for her SpaceFighter to create a pocket dimension to absorb the energy given off by a Cosmic-level Weapon of Mass Destruction all by itself.
%%* PsychoRangers: The Hell Hounds.
%%* PsychoForHire: The manga versions of the Hell Hounds.
* QuirkyMinibossSquad: The Hell Hounds are a lot more quirky than creepy in the game; the manga's got its characters like Lulu.
%%* RankInflation: For the [[CoolShip Emblem Frames]]' stats.
* TheRealRemingtonSteele: Happens with the character of [[spoiler:Noah. In the first game she is revealed to be a humanoid interface created by the sentient Black Moon in order to manipulate Eonia. Yet in the second game we find out there is effectively a human Noah whom was sealed in the, later salvaged, core of the Black Moon]].
* RealtimeWithPause: Of the plain variety. Everything is run in realtime, but you can pause the game, survey the battlefield, and give individual orders to your Angels before unpausing if you so wish to. It's explicitly stated in the tutorials as well. Simply entering a command will also momentarily pause the game as well.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Once the two incompetent examples are literally killed off, the entire series revolves around working with the highly respected and decorated war veteran Admiral Luft, the new ruler of the Transbaal Empire Shiva, and the Moon Goddess Shatoyan.
* RelationshipSabotage: [[spoiler:Having gotten wise of [[ThePowerOfLove how Tact and his chosen Angel defeated Nefuria]] in ''Moonlit Lovers'', the Val-Fasq send Wein to intentionally drive a wedge between them in ''Eternal Lovers'']].
* RelationshipUpgrade: Tact and his chosen Angel go through two phases of solidifying the relationship. First is whoever he dances with during the ball on Fargo and the second is before the final battle against Eonia where Tact has the possibility of saying the wrong line and ruining the relationship.
** Tact and Chitose technically have two occasions where they upgrade their relationship and they happen be Moonlit Lovers and Eternal Lovers respctively as they only become a couple by the end of the third game.
* RelationshipValues: The levels of affection/trust that the Angels have with Tact will directly influence their performance during the battle portions of the game. Naturally, the one chosen as the romantic partner [[TheAce will stand miles above the rest]].
* TheRemnant: ''Moonlit Lovers'' starts out with a fleet of raiders perpetrating attacks on the Empire's borders, the leader of which turns out to be an admiral from Eonia's forces who survived the events of the first game. Naturally, he's just an UnwittingPawn for the game's true antagonists.
* RemovingTheRival: Given the Valfasq aren't exactly known for having loyalty towards each other, they consider this a perfectly valid tactic [[KlingonPromotion to move up in the ranks]]. In the second game, Nefuria was apparently planning on disposing of her superiors, while in the third [[spoiler:Wein's method was to directly help the enemy so ''they'' would dispose of Rowil for him, and then he takes command of his remaining forces]].
%%* RivalTurnedEvil: At least in the manga, if you count the romance definition of "rival".
* RocketPunch: Ranpha's ship, the Kung-Fu Fighter, has this as its LimitBreak.
* RomanticSpoonfeeding: Several instances on different games (and routes):
** In the first game, Ranpha cooks a lot of food for Tact to feed him as a romantic gesture. Given his reaction to it [[LethalChef it seems it didn't turn out too well]] and he tries to stomach it just to see her happy, though she quickly sees through it.
** In Moonlit Lovers, Vanilla dresses up as a {{Meido}} and tries to feed tact a cake (apparently on Ranpha's advice). Milfie also does it with her homemade lunch during their date, at the beginning of her route, while they're on the Ferris Wheel.
** In Eternal Lovers, it's Lushati who does it with a cake, just in time for [[NotWhatItLooksLike Milfie to show up and see them]]. [[spoiler:In this case, it's because Wein intentionally mind-controlled Lushati to do this in order to drive a wedge between Milfie and Tact]].
* RulingFamilyMassacre: The first game opens up with the Traansbal royal palace bombarded by Eonia's forces, and the royal family (except for Shiva, who was at the White Moon at the time) completely wiped out.
* RunningGag:
** Milfie's luck causing rain when the team goes for a picnic. Mint is usually the only person who's ready for the chance.
*** Also, her oven exploding when she tries to bake a cake (she says it only happens one out of ten times).
** Ranpha either yelling at or hitting Tact whenever she thinks he's made a romantic mistake of some kind. Not on her own route though, where she acts lovey-dovey to Tact instead. Of course, then the running gag is Ranpha's endearing yet cavities-inducing constant invocation of romance tropes.
*** Her non-romantic running gag makes it into her route in EL, but not by choice.
** Chitose writes just about everything in her diary. Also, for someone who prides herself at being the perfect model for a soldier, she gets flustered very easily.
** Vanilla's Space Rabbits are absolutely adorable...and responsible for at least one hijinks involving threads in Moonlit Lovers.
** Mint's SweetTooth tendencies being responsible for the creation of the monstrously sweet artificial sweetener. How sweet? Try 10,000 times as sweet as sugar!
* SaveGameLimits: Galaxy Angel only has 10 save slots and this issue is dealt with in Moonlit Lovers and Eternal Lovers that boost it to well past 100.
* SchrodingersCast: The manga keeps [[spoiler:Eonia]] alive and pins the later battles on him instead of the Val-Fasq conspiracy.
* SeriousBusiness:
** In the first game, Ranpha and Forte have a "serious" argument over which is better: radish and carrot in the GA1. Saying that you (Takuto) [[TakeAThirdOption prefer potatoes]] instead is, for once, not a good idea.
** In ''Moonlit Lovers'', an argument over curry turns into an eating competition. It ends with Chitose embarrassing them both by winning the contest, and then pointing out to the stuffed Ranpha and Forte that it's rude to leave food on your plate.
* ShipperOnDeck: The BridgeBunnies, Coco and Almo are this with Tact and his chosen Angel. Coco sometimes ships Tact with Lester (who Almo has a crush on) instead, but this is a joke on Coco's part and Coco is as enthusiastic about an Angel romance as Almo is.
* SickeninglySweethearts: Ranpha and Tact, if you're playing Ranpha's route. In fact, in Moonlit Lovers and Eternal Lovers, it's even a ''plot point!'' In Moonlit Lovers, Ranpha is worried that she's asking too much of Tact and making him go too fast, so Tact has to prove her wrong by a cheer-leading declaration of love, and promising to speed up to catch up with Ranpha. In Eternal Lovers, [[spoiler:when Ranpha develops a compulsion to hit Tact when he touches her, Ranpha despairs ever being able to show physical affection again.]]
* SkewedPriorities: PlayedForLaughs in Chapter 4 of the first game. On the prelude to the EscortMission, Milfeulle, Ranpha and Forte are clearly more concerned about saving the Blancmanche Merchant ships because of the cargo they're waiting for. Tact has to awkwardly remind them they're supposed to save the people onboard those ships.
%%* SlidingScaleofIdealismVersusCynicism: Heavily Idealist.
* SlippingAMickey: On Mint's route, this is how Darno Blancmanche's servants extract Mint from the Elsior, putting a sleeping agent in her tea and hiding her in one of her costumes (a pretty easy feat given how small she is).
* SpaceNavy: The Transbaal Empire's fleets have designated ship classes and names for them. The first Galaxy Angel game is focused on combating the Black Fleet which utilized the same designations. Classifications include:
*** Spard Destroyers
*** Barmell Cruisers
*** Zem/Zarf Carriers
*** Gezel Missile Frigates
*** Sillius Fighters, later upgraded to Dark Angels
*** Serac and Stenoe Pursuers
*** Zell Flagships
*** Zerremund Satellites
** The Val-Fasq Fleet encountered in Moonlit Lovers also come with hull classes but are only teased as a scouting force. A proper invasion fleet of Val-Fasq ships are fought in Eternal Lovers where there are upgraded models as well as other designations.
*** At most, there are similar naming conventions where Val-Fasq ships will have the -Xio suffix for regular vessels and the O- prefix if it is a flagship.
* SpaceX: Anything you can imagine, there's a space version of it. The only thing that seems to be different from the normal version is that the space version has "space" in its name. The exception is the {{space whale}}s, who are some kind of magical animal.
* SpaceWhale: The Space Whale and Space Whale Jr. ''Telepathic'' Space Whale at that! Of course, they don't actually live in the void of space because that would just be ridiculous (though it's implied they're able to fly through the air).
* SpoilerOpening: The animated opening of Moonlit Lovers ends with a take of the six Angels and Nefuria behind them as an EvilOverlooker, the first clue that she's set to be the game's main antagonist.
* SpotlightStealingSquad: While the game had a route for each girl, the manga used [[FirstGirlWins Milfeulle]] as the main LoveInterest from the beginning and, therefore, focused mostly on her. Then Chitose came out of nowhere and got the second volume of Beta all for herself as well as plenty of the first and third; all while the rest of the team got only one chapter for each.
* StabTheScorpion: A double example happens in Moonlit Lovers. During the second chapter of Forte's route, enemy probes invade the Elsior taking on the appearances of the crew to confuse them. In the enginer room Chitose comes out of hiding and points her gun at Forte, who responds in kind. Tact at first is scared thinking that they'll shoot one another, but they instead shoot the enemy probes that were about to sneak up from behind them.
* SubspaceOrHyperspace: It's called Chrono Space in this case. The Elsior and the Emblem Frames can enter Chrono Drive mode in order to achieve FasterThanLightTravel, often used for long trips (and at least in one instance, to retreat from a losing battle and regroup).
* SuperMode: When the Angels have their Emblem Frame limiter's removed, they sprout wings as a result. More noticeable in the first game due to Moonlit Lovers upping the Ante by making endgame mooks very powerful.
* TakingYouWithMe:
** In the first game, [[spoiler:Sherry Bristol]] unsuccessfully attempts to do this against the Elsior and [[AlasPoorVillain dies as a result]].
** In the second game, [[spoiler:Rezom becomes an unwilling example when Nefuria takes control of his ship and sends him in a collision course to destroy the Elsior. It fails, and the Elsior's crew also feel pity for him]].
** The climax of the final game has Gern [[spoiler:revealing that the Chrono Quake Bomb has been linked to his brain and will activate if he dies, in order to force the Transbaal fleet to a [[MortonsFork surrender-or-die situation]]. Of course, he didn't count on Tact and his Angel redirecting the bomb's energy into Another Space]].
* TeamShot: One of the few bonus event CG in Eternal Lovers.
* TemptingFate: A rare positive example PlayedForLaughs happens in Milfie's route during the ball chapter. A random guest shows up and takes Milfie away to dance, and she reluctantly complies. Once they're out of earshot, Tact angrily muses that he wishes someone would pour champagne on the guy. Cue Milfie's luck causing an entire ''tower'' of champagne glasses collapsing on the guy.
* ThereAreNoTherapists: Subverted, sort of. The Elsior has a single counselor in Dr. Kela, though she's rarely seen playing that role specifically. On the other hand, the fact Tact is responsible for the mental health of his team of pilots without any qualifications beyond being a NiceGuy is a ''bit'' troubling. {{Justified|Trope}} -- in this case the mental health of the pilots directly influences whether or not the pilots can win battles. That last part ''is'' the responsibility of the commander instead of the counselor, so Tact is keeping the pilots' spirits up is in fact required in their particular circumstances. (The fact that Lester knows this is necessary is why Lester doesn't complain about Tact hanging around with a group of beautiful women while Lester works on the bridge.)
* TitleDrop: At the end of Eternal Lovers, during a chat between Tact and his chosen girl, he calls them "Galaxy Angels", as they've become the protectors of the entire galaxy.
* TimeSkip: Each of the game's sequels occur within only a couple months of each other.
* TropicalEpilogue: The final CG of [[{{Ojou}} Mint's]] route in Eternal Lovers [[https://i.imgur.com/UCLyDdS.png shows her resting on a beach chair in what seems to be a space yacht]].
* TrueCompanions: Tact and the Angels, it's stated that the entire crew of the Elsior and the Angels are this as well.
* UnbrokenVigil: Almost every route has Tact doing this for his Angel at least once when she's injured/incapacitated.
* UnstoppableRage: A few of the girls go into this during the final scene of the first game, literally blasting through hordes of enemy units all at once to rescue Tact. Ranpha especially. If it weren't a few years too early for it, you'd expect her to [[ActorAllusion yell]] '''[[Franchise/LyricalNanoha ZENRYOKU]] [[Creator/YukariTamura ZENKAI]]!''' during her FoeTossingCharge.
* VehicularSabotage: A plot point in Eternal Lovers during Chapter 3; [[spoiler:Wein]] tampers with the Emblem Frame belonging to Tact's Angel, causing it to go out of control and forcing Tact to shoot her down.
* TheWarHasJustBegun: The end of Moonlit Lovers is pretty much this.
* WaveMotionGun: The Chrono Break Cannon fires out a massive laser beam capable of obliterating the largest targets. In the first game, it's used by the Elsior to destroy Eonia's flagship and the Black Moon, and in Moonlit Lovers it's attached to Unit #7 to destroy the O-Gaub at point-blank range. Eternal Lovers implies it's powerful enough to destroy an entire planet [[spoiler:as shown when Wein attempts to destroy Juno with it, before the Angels block it with their wings]].
* WeAreTeamCannonFodder: During the first game, the remnants of the Imperial Navy might as well be annoying distraction against Eonia, due to how ridiculously strong the Angel Brigade is. [[TheCavalry Gloriously inverted]] in both Moonlit Lovers and Eternal Lovers. The Imperial Navy even pulls a BigDamnHeroes on ''you'' during the final battle in Moonlit Lovers, and are so effective in wiping out enemies they are basically responsible in destroying half the invading army alongside you.
* WebGames: When searching the Internet for the ''Galaxy Angel'' games, it is easier to find the Flash game Galaxy Angel Sim Date. It was created by English-speaking fans, and seems to resemble the anime's characterization (it may be an unintentional RecursiveAdaptation)... except for the [[ClusterFBomb out-of-character swearing]]. Bonus points for the creators who might have either played the games or the manga as Tact, Lester, and strangely enough, Almo and Shatoyan are present as playable characters in the player select.
* WeHaveBecomeComplacent: In the second game, [[spoiler:Noah considers that the Transbaal Empire has fallen into this, when Shiva calls her out on the destruction caused by the Black Moon in the first place. She outright says that "Just because there's no war, it doesn't mean you shouldn't sharpen your blade"]].
* WhatIsThisThingYouCallLove:
** A major plot point in Vanilla's Route, her being able to feel emotions and express herself is treated as a significant character development. Anise runs into this same scenario in her route.
** To a lesser degree, the cause of [[spoiler:Wein]]'s HeelFaceTurn.
* WhenSheSmiles: Vanilla plays this Trope to full effect.
* WingShield: In Eternal Lovers, the Emblem Frames use their wings to protect the Elsior and Planet Juno from [[spoiler:the Chrono Break Cannon fired by Wein in the hijacked Unit #7]].
* WorldOfTechnicolorHair: Blonde, red, pink, and blue are present among both Angel teams. For the Moon team it's Ranpha, Forte, Milfie, and Mint respectively, with the two extra colors being green (Vanilla) and a very dark blue (Chitose).
* YearOutsideHourInside: [[spoiler:In the finale of Eternal Lovers, Tact and his Angel are trapped in Another Space after stopping the Chrono Quake Bomb and saving the galaxy, until they're rescued. While it's not specified how long they were there, what seemed like just a few days for them were at least several months for everyone else, given their reactions once they come back]].
