''My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic'' was a fanmade FightingGame being developed by [[http://www.mane6.com/ Mane6]]. It featured characters from the first season of the TV series ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic''.

The final version of the game was to feature 17 characters.

There is a forum discussion about it (and ''Them's Fightin' Herds'') [[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13153483010A48176300 here]]. A state-of-the-state overview of the game can be found [[http://www.gamespot.com/features/the-most-unlikely-fighter-youve-never-heard-of-6402004/ here]].

Production [[ScrewedByTheLawyers was halted]] on February 8th 2013 due to a [[http://www.mane6.com cease and desist order from Hasbro]], while [=Mane6=] attempted legal negotiations. On March 2nd of 2013, [[http://www.mane6.com/2013/03/m6v2.html Mane6 revealed]] that, although their efforts to get special permission from Hasbro to continue the game have met with nothing but dead ends, they still plan to finish the game in a different form (but retaining all of the game mechanics). To that end, ''Creator/LaurenFaust herself'' has joined the [=Mane6=] team to design all-new characters. Also on March 27, 2013, the ''VideoGame/{{Skullgirls}}'' Indiegogo campaign raised $725,000 USD, allowing [=Mane6=] use of that game's engine for free. In January 2014, Lauren Faust revealed the first un-finalized character design for a [[http://www.derpibooru.org/511707?scope=scpee316f3b2a51e214bf800e0c50efbbd918728eb11 reindeer character.]]

A Tribute Edition of this game (with complete character designs for Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy) can be found [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6k7ki1cCBU here]].

A Mega Edition of the game is currently being worked on. The most recent version includes Trixie (but not Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy).

On October 31st 2014, [[https://twitter.com/ManeSix/status/528386514754211840 an image]] of a [[TomeOfEldritchLore mysterious book]] with what appears to be a lamb peeking out of it was posted on [=Mane6=]'s twitter, and on August 28th 2015, [[http://www.equestriadaily.com/2015/08/mane6-announces-new-name-for-game-and.html the game's spiritual successor was revealed to be]] ''VideoGame/ThemsFightinHerds''. Please put all tropes pertaining specifically to that game on that page.

----
!!''My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic'' contained examples of: (Character-specific tropes go [[Characters/MyLittlePonyFightingIsMagic here]])
* AutobotsRockOut: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHglQRvbzOc Rainbow Dash's stage theme]] is heavy on the rock.
* BadassAdorable: Pretty much everyone.
* CrazyEnoughToWork: Well, it WAS a fighting game featuring the cast of ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic.''
** Even without the ''Friendship is Magic'' cast, the idea of quadrupedal fighters offers some unique ideas.
* DownerEnding: The cease and desist being a meta one...
** [[RayOfHopeEnding Then again,]] Creator/LaurenFaust joined the team to help design a SpiritualSuccessor. Not to mention they have access to the ''VideoGame/{{Skullgirls}}'' engine.
* {{Determinator}}: The dev team. Even though the C&D rendered the game's fate uncertain and was no doubt a major blow to them, they later stated (in a now defunct link) '''"We aren't done yet regardless of how this turns out, so please stay tuned"'''.
** Case in point: Lauren Faust came on board to help make a [[Awesome/ThemsFightinHerds brand new title.]]
** Also the fans who made the Tribute Edition.
* FightingClown: Unsurprisingly, Pinkie Pie had a pretty wacky looking moveset.
* FightingYourFriend: The developers promised a good reason for this when it still used the Mane Six.
* FixedFloorFighting: Fought in an "invisible box" typical for most fighting games.
* FlyingBooks: Twilight Sparkle fights along side a floating book which she uses to read spells and power up. Unlike [[VideoGame/ThemsFightinHerds The Unicornomicon]], though, this one is just a regular book.
* GameMod: There are a couple of bronies who wanted to continue with the original project and did so, by making Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Trixie playable.
* GuestFighter: While there are many fan-made characters, the [[SugarApocalypse odd man out]] is [[VideoGame/StreetFighterIV Oni]]
* HomeStage: The game was going to take this literally by having the associated stages be in or around the character's actual homes. Though Rainbow Dash had Cloudsdale.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Twilight uses a book, Rarity uses design supplies & accessories, AJ uses a lasso, and Pinkie uses everything her Party Cannon shoots out. Angel and the rest of Fluttershy's animal friends are used for her special attacks
* KnowsTheRopes: Applejack has a lasso as part of her moveset.
* LauncherMove: All characters have at least one, performed by pressing down-forward and heavy attack.
* LeftHanging: Who knows what the devs had planned for the future of the game, including the remaining eleven of the seventeen planned playable characters.
* LethalJokeCharacter: On a stream posted February 21, Fluttershy was shown briefly. Though she's obviously far from complete and has only one move, that move is [[OneHitKill the Stare]].
* {{Leitmotif}}: Each of the characters have music inspired by songs from the show.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIPOeXQ793Q Applejack's battle theme]], or rather the theme of Sweet Apple Acres, has hints of "Winter Wrap-Up" in it.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obJ21k3Hylo The theme of Twilight's library]] contain bits of "At the Gala," as well as a short section from the show's main theme.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ob5g2irAUdo Rarity's stage theme]] has a tiny bit of the song "Art of the Dress".
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vcPE8BJ8z0E Pinkie Pie's theme]] includes a piece of "Giggle at the Ghostly".
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHglQRvbzOc Rainbow Dash's theme]] features Rainbow Dash's verse of "At the Gala" quite heavily.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tB-o0Pnj1Tk Fluttershy's theme]] contains parts inspired by "Hush Now Quiet Now".
** [=Mane6=] has now confirmed that while the composers of the original music are still on board, [[https://twitter.com/ManeSix/status/308766231798874112 the new version will sport brand new pieces]].
* LimitBreak: Each character has Level 1 and Level 3 supers. Some have a Level 2 super as well, normally the Level 1 with something extra added on. We don't know how the new version of the game will handle this yet.
* ManaMeter: Each character has a magic meter that fills up when certain conditions are met. Magic is used to enhance certain attacks.
* MediumAwareness: Two victory quotes:
** Twilight: "Dear Princess Celestia, today I learned what O.T.G. means."[[note]]"Off the ground"; it refers to attacks that can hit the opponent's character after they've hit the ground.[[/note]]
** Pinkie: "I won! The screen says I won!"
* PerfectPlayAI: The CPU-controlled Twilight during the second livestream, according to the devs.
** This is more notable in the Tribute Edition of the game where the AI will block your attacks and counter almost all of them every time. Things get worse if the ai has a [[SpamAttack projectile attack]] like [[MagicMissileStorm Twilight]] and [[FlechetteStorm Rarity]].
* PowerCreepPowerSeep: Inevitable. Twilight Sparkle is the both incredibly gifted and extensively studied student of magic of Celestia, but her experience is combat is paltry at best. Rainbow Dash is one of the fastest pegasi in Equestria, but also has demonstrated no real combat proficiency. Applejack is quite strong and fit, but a good deal of her time is devoted to the management of a farm. Pinkie Pie has RealityWarper powers, but the show demonstrates that she's generally unable to use them to any practical effect. Rarity isn't afraid to get in a fight to defend herself, but would rather rely on her wit and charm. And worst is Fluttershy, who can become aggressive when pushed, but is basically a pacifist more often than not. In just the main six characters, fighting potential ranges from very high to none at all.
** Somewhat averted. Episodes like A Canterlot Wedding have shown all of the Mane 6 (besides Fluttershy) to be capable fighters. However, it's still played straight in that some of the characters, like Twilight, should be much more dangerous than others.
* RunningGag: When talking about what types of controllers can be used for the game during the second live-stream, using a [[VideoGame/DanceDanceRevolution DDR]] pad to play is jokingly brought up. The Mane 6 then proceed to joke about people actually USING it, asking anyone who does to post it on Website/YouTube.
* SceneryPorn: [[http://www.mane6.com/2012/05/bite-size-update-week-1.html#more This]] blog post shows that the backgrounds will be insanely detailed and destructible. How much will be changed in the new version remains to be seen.
* ShoutOut: [[ShoutOut/MyLittlePonyFightingIsMagic Has its own page]].
* SixthRanger: Lauren joined Mane Six to help with a SpiritualSuccessor.
* SpiritualAntithesis: To ''VideoGame/EternalFighterZero''. EFZ has an all-human cast from visual novels and grants them powers they didn't have in canon while [=FiM=] has an all-equine cast from a cartoon and uses powers from said cartoon.
* TeleportSpam: Twilight Sparkle is capable of this, as is Pinkie Pie, although Pinkie just runs off one end of the screen and wraps around to the other side. She's also somehow able to run off the side of the screen and deliver an elbow drop from above.
* VersusCharacterSplash: Not before the fight, but rather the characters each have a splendid splash art portrait in the character selection screen.
** Implemented into the character select screen as of Canterlot Gardens tournament.
* VictoryQuote: Most of the Mane Six have several.
* WingsDoNothing: Purposely averted by the dev team, who stated that pegasi would have been able to make use of their wings.
