->''hey there everyone, it's cat planet! hell yeah we're a lil angel girl there's a caaat! oh well hello there mr. cat! thank you for welcoming me!''

''cat planet'' is a [[FreewareGames freeware game]] by [[http://love-game.net sylvie]] available for download.

You play as a human girl with wings, and the last of your kind, and you must collect all the cats on the cat planet. While the controls are somewhat bizarre, in that any key will allow you to take flight, holding 'up' will increase your altitude, and holding 'down' will decrease it. While you can die, there are [[DeathIsASlapOnTheWrist no game overs.]] However, you can't save, so the game must be beaten in one go!

The game can be [[http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-16/?action=preview&uid=1081 downloaded here.]] A fansequel by the name of ''super cat planet'' can be [[https://www.indiedb.com/games/super-cat-planet downloaded here.]]

!!this planet contains cats of:
* AllLowercaseLetters: The title and the cats' speech follow this. [[spoiler: However, the strange kitties in ''super cat planet'' [[SubvertedTrope prefer to use proper capitalization]], which also applies to the 'boss' crow near the end of said game, and the [[TrueFinalBoss Dark Angel]] at the end of the BonusDungeon.]]
* BladderOfSteel: There's no save system, so it must be completed in one go. The fansequel averts this by incorporating a save system.
* DarkerAndEdgier: [[LiteralMetaphor Literally]] becomes this [[spoiler:after you open the gate by pressing both the switches]]. On ''super cat planet'', [[spoiler: this also applies to the BonusDungeon and a secret area in the canyon that's... best left unmentioned.]]
* DeliberatelyMonochrome: The cat village and underground jungle use this aesthetic. ''super cat planet'', aside from a few colors here and there, is mostly monochrome, [[spoiler:with the exception of the ending area, the [[BonusDungeon the secret p-switch dungeon]], and the [[WarpZone warp hub]].]]
* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: Five cats lined up in a row will greet you when you enter the factory segment.
* EternalEngine: The factory level, featuring moving spiked balls and spiky crushers. To quote a cat from the game, "what does this factory make? nobody knows!"
* FlipScreenScrolling: The game shows one screen at a time. Moving to the edge scrolls to the next screen.
* GottaCatchEmAll: You are tasked to find all the cats. The game keeps count.
%% * GraphicsInducedSuperDeformed
* JungleJapes: The second area, which, save for the green background and grass, isn't too jungle-like, but is called as such.
* LethalLavaLand: An area that can be reached from the jungle and factory features caverns with lava, jumping fireballs, and fire bars.
* NoNameGiven: The angel does not bear a name.
* NoPlotNoProblem: Find all the cats. Why? Why not, it's Cat Planet!
* OneHitPointWonder: The angel has only one hit point. If she touches anything hazardous, she dies.
* OurAngelsAreDifferent: The playable character is an angel girl who is a OneHitPointWonder and a friend to the cats.
* RespawnPoint: You respawn at the beginning of the same room you died in. However, ''super cat planet'' provides more straightforward checkpoints, so make sure to touch one if you can.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: The cats are round, friendly, and [[CuteKitten adorable]].
* ShoutOut:
** Some solid blocks look like the ! blocks from ''VideoGame/SuperMarioWorld''. There are also {{exp|y}}ies of firebars and podoboos.
** ''super cat planet'' has several costume changes that are obvious references to ''Franchise/TouhouProject'' characters, particularly for Flandre and Cirno. [[spoiler:The final boss of the BrutalBonusLevel outright challenges you to a danmaku battle. There's also a secret costume to become talkhaus mascot Demo.]]
* SmashingHallwayTrapsOfDoom: Spiked crushers appear in factory.
* SpikeBallsOfDoom: There are static ones that are mostly found in the jungle, and the ones in the factory that move around. They can be found in other places as well. ''super cat planet'' adds an additional red/blue toggle system to the spike balls and floating saws, as well as flowers that shoot pollen.
* SpikesOfDoom: These appear in [[spoiler:the final area with the crows, as well as the fansequel's [[BrutalBonusLevel very tough bonus dungeon]].]]
* UnreadablyFastText: The credits zip by pretty quickly.
