* ExecutiveMeddling:
** The Bat-Editors constantly threatened to yank Robin from the book unless the writers obeyed their edicts on how he could be featured; most notably, Robin could not be used in any battle that took place in public, according to the "urban legend" policy in the Bat-books.
** This resulted in a couple of TakeThat jokes during a reality show story ("Did the all-concealing shadows just say ouch?"), including Robin creating the hero identity of "Mr. Sarcastic," a shaved-head ShoutOut to Spider Jerusalem (and possibly to Protector, a Robin expy created for 80's ComicBook/TeenTitans PSA comics when licensing contracts prevented the Boy Wonder's use).

* TheMerch: The last few waves of Creator/Hasbro's JLA toyline, intended to act as this to ComicBook/JLA1997 also acted as this for this series, including figures of Robin, Superboy, Impulse, and Red Tornado.
* RecursiveAdaptation: The WesternAnimation/TeenTitans2003 cartoon was initially planned as an adaptation of Young Justice, but the number of Legacy Characters was too much of a problem. The solution: ReVision the Wolfman-Perez Titans in the style of Young Justice!
** And now we got a ReVision of Young Justice more in line with Geoff Johns' Titans. Make of that what you will.
* ShoutOut: Given the light hearted tone of the book they were able to cram these in at their leisure:
** Cassie's room contains a slew of shoutouts via thinly retitled band and TV-show posters (Frontstreet Boys=Music/BackstreetBoys, Space Girls=Music/SpiceGirls, Dalton's Creek=Series/DawsonsCreek, Wendy the Werewolf Stalker=Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer) and a recolored Pikachu toy.
** In Issue 20 Klarion watches the ParallelPornTitle The Bare Witch Project referencing Film/TheBlairWitchProject
** The "Wendy the Werewolf Stalker" show the team watches is a homage to Series/BuffyTheVampireSlayer.
** The cover of issue 35 states Lex Wants You! with Lex Luthor pointing at the viewer in front of an American flag.
** The cover of issue 48 has the text ComicBook/ADeathInTheFamily prominently displayed although the issue's actual title is "Fighting Maad, Part 2: D.O.A.".
** The cover of issue 49 has Empress shouting My name is Empress. YouKilledMyFather. Prepare to DIE! Missing only the Hello! of Inigo Montoya's trope laden quote from Film/ThePrincessBride.
* ToylessToylineCharacter: The JLA toyline didn't include Lagoon Boy, the Ray, or the female members of the team.
