Context Trivia / TigerAndBunny

* CastingGag: It's not hard to see why Creator/KeijiFujiwara (in Japanese) voiced Jake. He already voiced [[Film/TheDarkKnightTrilogy The]] [[WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold Joker]], the character Jake is based off.
* CreatorsFavorite: In the sixth [[https://youtu.be/3Txp_2S2BA8?t=1421 cast commentary episode]] for the show's second season, Barnaby's voice actor Creator/MasakazuMorita named Pao-Lin and Ivan as his favorite characters.
* CrossDressingVoices: Played straight in the English dub where Tony is voiced by Creator/LauraBailey, but averted in the original Japanese version where he is voiced by Creator/TsubasaYonaga.
* {{Defictionalization}}: In Japan, there was enough demand for Kotetsu's SignatureHeadgear that Sunrise decided they'd just [[http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2011-06-16/tiger-and-bunny-staff/kotetsu-hat-to-be-made-for-sale go ahead and sell it]]. Soon enough, Barnaby's jacket and the Christmas pin were also made into real items.
* DevelopmentGag: [[spoiler: The "''Black Suit'' Wild Tiger" from Episode 21 has glowing square dots on the waist, the shoulders are colored-in, and a lack of a chest insignia like the Wild Tiger suit from the pilot.]] Additionally, the green vest, white shirt ensemble that Kotetsu wears in one of the show's flashbacks is a call back to [[http://img607.imageshack.us/img607/972/katsuraconceptsketch.png Katsura's concept art for his character design]].
* DirectedByCastMember: The Latin American Spanish dub of the first season was directed by Cynthia Chong, who voiced Pao-Lin Huang/Dragon Kid.
* DuelingWorks: With ''Anime/PuellaMagiMadokaMagica,'' as both came out the same year, had no pre-existing manga source material, and both were {{deconstruction}}s of their [[MagicalGirlWarrior respective]] [[{{superhero}} genres]].
* ExecutiveMeddling: Splendidly averted. The staff was told to give up on the anime and to make the series about two young guys -- they refused.
* FanCommunityNickname: T&Bros.
* FandomNod: Each OnTheNext segment starts with either Kotetsu or Barnaby disclosing an entirely random fact about themselves ("Hi! I'm Kotetsu, the member of Tiger & Bunny who ends up falling for idols he sees in his dreams! / "Hi! This is Barnaby, the member of Tiger & Bunny who owns five pairs of the same glasses!).
* InvisibleAdvertising: This happened to the international (non-English) release of the first season of the anime by Creator/{{Netflix}}. While some websites noticed the release of the anime there on February 28, 2021, Netflix themselves didn't advertise it[[note]]except putting the series on the "Coming Soon" tab[[/note]] despite the fact they provided exclusive dubs under Netflix Post Partner Program, probably because of the upcoming 2nd season for the next year, [[IKnewIt which was subsequently confirmed that Netflix gained exclusive rights for it]].
* LGBTFanbase: As to be expected from a series with this much HoYay and at least one explicitly flamboyant gay character. ''The Rising'' even gave Fire Emblem a subplot of him confronting the trauma of his past regarding his sexuality and being embraced by the other superheroes as a true friend.
* MidDevelopmentGenreShift: Of the first variety. Originally, the series was supposed to be much darker and more morbid in its theme and mood, with heavy drama and tragedy, and different personalities for both main characters. The creators later decided to go for a more lighthearted story with an overall comedic theme accompanied by some drama; traces of the aforementioned serious tone can be seen in the second cour.
* NoExportForYou: The video game-based versions of the show are not exported outside of Asia.
* TheOtherDarrin:
** The English dub of Season 2 has Creator/CassandraLeeMorris and Aaron [=LaPlante=] take over as Dragon Kid and Rock Bison from Creator/LauraBailey and Creator/TravisWillingham.
** In the Latin American Spanish dub:
*** Agnes Joubert was originally voiced by Creator/DianaPerez. Due to PĂ©rez succumbing to kidney failure in April 2021, the role was permanently recast with Adriana Casas beginning with the second season.
*** Keith Goodman/Sky High was played by Patricio Pedret in the first season and by Ernesto Medrano for the second season.
* PlayingAgainstType:
** Most of Creator/MasakazuMorita's fans were surprised by the fact that he could go from being the seiyuu for HotBlooded shounen characters to voicing a character like Barnaby. Morita himself has expressed surprise that he was cast for the role, and says he sometimes felt that he might not be able to pull it off.
** Same for the dub. Creator/YuriLowenthal, who is known for voicing much younger characters who are more emotional such as [[WesternAnimation/Ben10Omniverse Ben Tennyson]] and [[Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann Simon the Digger]] playing a more stoic man in his 20's.
** While her main role in the show, Agnes, is more the kind of character she's known for, Creator/TaraPlatt also plays Samantha, a kindly old woman who was a nanny to Barnaby, who is voiced by her husband.
* RealLifeRelative: With the English voice cast, it seems that Barnaby and Anges' one ShipTease moment will be more ironic since they are voiced by Real-Life married couple Creator/YuriLowenthal and Creator/TaraPlatt.
* TheRedStapler: In Japan, products even tangentially related to the series are selling out -- such as a brand of wine called Brooks that uses an Ouroboros on its label and a brand of cologne with a similarly shaped bottle to one Kotetsu owns.
* SequelGap: Season 2 was released 8 years after ''Tiger and Bunny: The Rising''.
* ShrugOfGod: Regarding Kotetsu's actual age and the nature of Kotetsu and Barnaby's relationship.
* SleeperHit: Prior to its airing in 2011, it never got much attention until the first episode aired and the rest is history.
* StarMakingRole: Nathan[=/=]Fire Emblem was Creator/JohnEricBentley's breakout role as a voice actor.
* StudioHop: Season 2 goes from Creator/{{Sunrise}} to their parent company's [[Creator/BandaiNamcoPictures other in-house studio]]. To allude to this, the license plate of Kotetsu's motorcycle has the logo for BN Pictures on it.
* ThrowItIn: When the producers told scriptwriter Masafumi Nishida that he could write the characters any way he wanted, he jokingly asked if one of them could be a photobombing weeaboo. The answer was yes.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Kotetsu and Barnaby's powers were originally supposed to be memory manipulation and teleportation, respectively, making "Bunny" more of a MeaningfulName. But it was later decided that the two should be given similar abilities [[RedOniBlueOni to highlight the differences in their personalities and attitudes]]. Each also wore the other's outfit, but they were swapped at the request of the director. A reference to the latter can be seen [[spoiler:in the Season 2 finale when a now fully-powerless Kotetsu gives Barnaby his suit while fighting Audun.]]
** There was a ninth hero proposed early in development called Zen Beast, featuring a SplitPersonality. He was discarded because the creators wanted to have only eight heroes.
** Barnaby was called Barney in concept stages.
** Blue Rose's design was quite different in the PilotEpisode.
* WorkingTitle: The show was originally going to be called ''Busty and Bunny'' (presumably, 'bust' meaning 'destroy'). Of course, then the female producer did some research and found out that they couldn't call him 'Busty', because of the English meaning. Another proposed title was 'Seekers'.
