Cushing's own wife had died shortly before he took the role, and he evidently insisted that he would be perfect for it. Ouch. And Grimsdyke's wife is named "Helen"-- the name of Cushing's wife.
4	* RecycledSet: The framing story was shot at Shepperton Studios, in the cave sets built for ''Tower of Evil'' (aka ''Horror on Snape Island'') earlier the same year.

FOX used to run repeats in their prime-time line-up during the mid-1990s (mostly on Saturday nights after the local news), and the series later turned up on basic cable channels, like the [[Creator/{{Syfy}} Sci-Fi Channel]], Creator/{{AMC}}, and Chiller. The show on all the non-premium networks was edited for gore, sexual content, nudity, violence, explicit language, and, of course, making room for commercial breaks.

21	** Creator/SamWaterston appeared in the Season 5 episode "As Ye Sow," playing an unscrupulous private eye who offered to (and did) hire a hitman on behalf of his client. He would debut on ''Series/LawAndOrder'' one year later in the role of Jack [=McCoy=], a prosecutor with an unshakable drive to see justice done.
22	** While it wasn't out of the blue for actors to take on directing episodes, like Creator/ArnoldSchwarzenegger and Creator/MichaelJFox, Creator/TomHanks takes the cake with his episode "None But the Lonely Heart" where not only does it feature him in one of his few horror roles with his small part as a Video Dating employee (Who suffers a brutal death), but it also has one of the series most detestable lead's and ending twists. Makes you wonder how'd things would go if he focused on directing horror more.
23	* PlayingWithCharacterType: Creator/JohnAstin in "Top Billing". His character is essentially [[Series/TheAddamsFamily Gomez Addams]], only if he was ''really'' a dangerously AxCrazy nuthouse patient instead of just seeming like one.
24	* PopCultureUrbanLegends: [[http://www.geocities.ws/imb210/fattuesday.html According to an as-of-yet-unconfirmed rumor]], the unreleased film ''Dead Easy'' (retitled ''Fat Tuesday'') '''was''' finished, but due to higher ups at Universal [[ExecutiveMeddling thinking the film wouldn't be commercially viable]], a script that called for a large African-American cast ended up being produced with a cast entirely of white actors. Out of fear of UnfortunateImplications, producer Joel Silver is said to have stepped in and locked the finished film away, [[OldShame hoping nobody would see or hear about it.]]
25	** This rumor was debunked by A.l Katz and Gil Adler. According to them Dead Easy never went past pre-production due to Universal pulling the plug on it and forcing them to make ''Film/BordelloOfBlood''.

Specifically, HBO has been incredibly stingy with exactly how much they own, particularly in regards to portraying the Cryptkeeper, and their meddling has put several attempts at a revival on the backburner.

31	** Besides ''Film/DemonKnight'' and ''Film/BordelloOfBlood'', there were plans for two more movies. ''Dead Easy'' (a New Orleans zombie romp) which would possibly have opened the following Halloween that year, and ''Body Count'' (about a documentarian who discovers his uncle's dark secret).
32	** ''Demon Knight'' was supposed to be the second film in the original proposed trilogy, but Ride/UniversalStudios thought it should go first because it was "the most ''Tales''-like" feature out of the three. Ironically, it ended up being the only one made.
33	** Creator/PeterJackson had his own pitch for a movie entry: ''Film/TheFrighteners''. Producers deemed it as being strong enough to be released as a completely stand-alone movie.
34	** During the show's run, "Two-Fisted Tales", another more action-based EC comics creation, was to be adapted as a television series and three episodes ("Yellow", "Showdown", and "King of the Road") were produced.
