Context Trivia / Snatch

Go To

* AwesomeDearBoy: Creator/BradPitt really wanted to work with Creator/GuyRitchie after loving ''Film/LockStockAndTwoSmokingBarrels''.
* CastTheExpert:
** Gorgeous George is played by real life boxer Adam Fogerty.
** Mickey's last opponent is also played by a real boxer, Scott Welch, who challenged for a heavyweight title just a few years before the film was made.
* CastTheRunnerUp: Creator/BradPitt was originally going to play Turkish. When he couldn't master the Cockney accent, Mickey was created.
* CompletelyDifferentTitle: Averted. The U.S. distributors considered changing the title to ''Snatched'' or ''Snatch'd''.
* DeletedScene: Scenes cut from the film:
** Turkish and Tommy go to a pub to meet Brick Top for the first time.
** Sol and Vinnie try to open Franky Four Fingers' briefcase before Boris the Blade comes to pick it up. They finally get Franky to open it and he manages to get the gun Boris gave him out of it, but the gun doesn't work.
** Errol and John (Brick Top's henchmen) go talk to Mullet to find out who robbed the bookies.
** Bullet Tooth Tony and Avi go to Brick-Top's pub to meet him. Tony has a beef with Errol and has to draw a sword to keep Brick Top's henchmen at bay.
** Brick Top tries to sell Avi the diamond that Sol and Vinny gave him. Avi examines the stone and immediately figures out it's a fake (the same one Lincoln tried to pawn at the beginning of the movie). He throws it into a wall, where it smashes into little pieces. Meanwhile Sol and Vinny, who are locked into Brick Top's office, keep arguing and trying to escape.
** Vinny and Sol go to the pikeys' camp to find the dog and ask Mickey if he's seen him, but the dog's not there.
* FakeIrish: Creator/BradPitt. (with [[WhatTheHellIsThatAccent a bizarre version of the Traveller accent]]). Supposedly, Pitt was originally offered the role of Turkish, but proved incapable of learning to speak with a 'proper' British accent, so Creator/GuyRitchie decided to go with that instead. English actor Creator/JasonFlemyng has a smaller speaking role as another Irish Traveller.
** To Pitt's credit, his accent isn't too far off some rural Irish accents, and considering American actors' track record on Irish accents, his attempt is like a breath of fresh air.
* FakeNationality:
** Creator/RadeSerbedzija, a Croatian, plays the Uzbekistani Boris. He doesn't look particularly like an ethnic Uzbek. Boris could be an ethnic Russian from Uzbekistan, making all of those times people call him Russian (including his own brother) actually true.
** Also, Puerto Rican Creator/BenicioDelToro as Jewish American Frankie Four Fingers.
* IronyAsSheIsCast: Brick Top is involved in dog-fighting. Alan Ford is a vegetarian and animal rights activist in RealLife.
* MethodActing: As he was playing a particularly scummy character, Creator/BradPitt made a point of rarely washing during the film's production.
* NeverWorkWithChildrenOrAnimals: According to the DVDCommentary, Bow, the dog was very difficult to work with. During the car scene with Vincent, Sol and Tyrone, the dog was actually attacking Creator/LennieJames (it seemed to think James' leather jacket was another animal), and James was bitten in the crotch by the dog but didn't suffer any serious injury. The dog was replaced after that incident.
* NoBudget: The producers couldn't afford enough extras for the boxing match sequences. Whenever a camera angle changed, the extras had to move around to create an impression of a crowded house.
* PlayingAgainstType:
** Considering how well known he is nowadays as a dangerous bruiser in Hollywood action movies, it can be a little surprising to see Creator/JasonStatham using his natural accent and playing a weaselly petty criminal and one of the few people in the movie who's ''not'' ever involved in violence.
** Handsome Hollywood leading man Creator/BradPitt plays a grubby, unpleasant, and unstable Irish Traveller, with bad teeth, worse hygiene and a [[WhatTheHellIsThatAccent nigh-incomprehensible]] accent.
* ProductionPosse: Returning from ''Film/LockStockAndTwoSmokingBarrels'' are Creator/GuyRitchie, Creator/MatthewVaughn, Creator/JasonStatham, Creator/VinnieJones, Alan Ford, Creator/JasonFlemyng, cinematographer Tim Maurice-Jones, composer John Murphy and many others.
* ThrowItIn: Creator/LennieJames actually hit himself in his private parts with the shotgun while blasting a hole in the wall at the bookies, but continued the scene. That footage was used in the film.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** The role of Brick Top was originally offered to Creator/SeanConnery. He liked the script and was curious to see ''Film/LockStockAndTwoSmokingBarrels'', so producer Creator/MatthewVaughn hastily arranged a screening for him at extreme short notice. Connery duly turned up and watched the film, before emerging with his judgment: "That is a good film", he said, "and (in a stage whisper) you're not going to be able to afford me." Cue Alan Ford.

* WordOfGod: Creator/GuyRitchie said at the 2015 Comic-Con that Bullet-Tooth Tony hesitates killing the dog because he grew up with dogs and had his dog shot by the police
