!!The film:
* AcclaimedFlop: The film was well received by critics (especially for a "giant crocodile" film), but grossed only $4.6 million on a $25 million budget.
* BillingDisplacement: Radha Mitchell receives top billing, but Michael Vartan is the main character and [[spoiler:the one who ultimately kills the crocodile]].
* DuelingMovies: With ''Film/BlackWater'' and ''Film/{{Primeval}}'', which were all released the same year, based on true stories, and about crocodiles, although ''Primeval'' left the last detail out of its marketing. Both ''Rogue'' and ''Black Water'' are also based on incidents in Australia. The similarities between ''Rogue'' and ''Primeval'' would cause the release of ''Rogue'' to be delayed in the United States.
* LifeImitatesArt: During filming, the boat did at one point get stuck in the river while surrounded by crocodiles.
* PlayingAgainstType: John Jarratt, the terrifying antagonist from ''Wolf Creek'', here plays a grieving widower and nice guy.

!!The game:
* KillerApp: According to the BSD developers, the game was one of the biggest uses of cycles on Platform/{{Unix}} systems back in the '80s. Many users of modern Unix-like systems likely have one of its descendants, such as VideoGame/NetHack or VideoGame/{{Angband}}, installed.
* NoExportForYou: Like a lot of later Platform/Commodore64 games, the 1988 C64 version was only sold in Europe.
!!The book:
* WriteWhoYouKnow: Lyn Miller-Lachmann has Asperger's and was lonely and miserable as an adolescent, but unlike Kiara, she didn't fight back against the bullies. [[spoiler:She also became an unwitting drug mule after she got her driver's license.]]
