!!The [[Series/RobinHood BBC series]]
* ActorLeavesCharacterDies:
** Robin was killed off in the final episode after Jonas Armstrong announced he was leaving the series because he was "looking for new challenges".
** Allan was killed off in the final episode when Joe Armstrong left the series out of frustration with his reduced role.
* BillingDisplacement: David Harewood was given the third placement in the opening credits of Series 3 (the only series in which he appeared) though he ultimately [[DemotedToExtra had a very small role]] after episode three.
* CaliforniaDoubling: The series was shot in Hungary.
* {{Cancellation}}: The series was cancelled after three seasons when Jonas Armstrong decided to leave to move on to other projects. Despite an attempt to set up for a fourth series, what with the introduction of Clive Standen as Robin and Guy's half-brother Archer who could [[TakingUpTheMantle Take Up The Mantle]] in the wake of Robin's death, the fact that all but ''two'' of the show's original characters had been either KilledOffForReal or PutOnABus, ''and'' that [[ReplacementScrappy the slew of replacements had not been well-received by audiences]], meant that cancellation was all but assured at the conclusion of the third series.
* ChristmasRushed: The first season was rushed into production to capitalise on the success of the BBC's revival of ''Series/DoctorWho'', and features multiple occasions of very obviously dubbed lines to try to stitch scenes together in the edit, scripts that were written in a rush, and questionable decisions regarding costuming, directing and editing (particularly of fight scenes) that might have been sorted out with more time.
* CreatorBacklash: Though he doesn't go into any great detail as to why, the single paragraph devoted to his experiences on the show in his autobiography indicates that David Harewood wasn't very pleased with the role of Tuck:
--> ''I got a call from the BBC about joining the cast of their new series of Robin Hood as Friar Tuck. I ended up creating a sort of Ninja monk version of the friar, and they seemed to like it. A Black Friar Tuck actually made the evening news and was considered fairly controversial. Finally, a television part with a little imagination had come my way. But after a cracking intro, the experience didn't quite turn out how I'd hoped.''
* DawsonCasting:
** A minor example, but 18-year-old Will Scarlett was played by 22-year-old Creator/HarryLloyd.
** Joanne Froggatt (aged 27 to 28 at the time) plays Kate, whose age is never specified, but who is clearly meant to be a young teenager judging by the way she behaves and is treated by other characters.
** Archer, established as twenty years old as an important plot point, was played by Creator/CliveStanden, who was 26 or 27 at the time.
* DeletedScene: According to the DVDCommentary, the Season Two finale included a scene in which Djaq gives Allan the pigeon carrier that he is seen carrying in the final shot of the episode. This scene would have presumably given closure to the Will/Djaq/Allan LoveTriangle, but as it stands, the audience doesn't even get to see these three characters say goodbye to each other.
* KilledByRequest: Joe Armstrong asked for Allan to be killed off, as he grew frustrated by his character's reduced role.
* OnSetInjury:
** Creator/HarryLloyd was running through the Nottingham Market set when his cloak caught on the edge of a stall, he tried to wrench it out to avoid ruining the take and the entire stall fell over, causing an extra carrying a bucket of water to drop it on Harry's eye. Lloyd carried on running round the corner, unaware of how badly he'd been injured until Joe Armstrong caught sight of him and he saw his reaction.
** Gordon Kennedy tore his hamstring and was taken to a hospital whilst still in full costume (minus his trousers, which had been removed to pack ice onto the injury), resulting in the hospital mistaking him for a vagrant, and he was about to be deloused before a producer arrived to explain. Kennedy then sprained his ankle ligament on his first day back filming.
** Keith Allen lost a tooth during an action scene on the last episode of the first series. This was written into the script as the Sheriff losing a tooth and getting a bejewelled fake tooth, which actually become a minor plot point in one or two later episodes.
** Jonas Armstrong broke a metatarsal bone in his foot during a fight scene on the second series.
* OrphanedReference:
** It appears Kate was written as a young woman, or possibly even a teenager, only for Joanne Froggatt -- aged 27 to 28 during filming -- to be cast instead. The character in general makes ''far'' more sense viewed with this in mind, but there are several express references to the original intention; most notably, when Robin and Kate meet for the first time, Robin refers to her as "young lady" despite Froggatt actually being several months older than Jonas Armstrong.
** Likewise, there is a line of dialogue in the final episode (written by Simon Ashford, the same person who wrote the characters' first meeting mentioned above) in which Robin is told: "you taught her well" (referring to Kate after she's escaped the besieged castle and gone for help). As there were never ''any'' scenes of Robin training Kate in either combat or stealth, it gestures towards a relationship in which she was originally conceived as more of a young prodigy or pupil to Robin rather than the SatelliteLoveInterest she ended up as.
* ReleaseDateChange: The start of Series 3 was moved forward by a few weeks at the last minute, which had the notable effect that some episodes aired before post-production could be completed.
* SeparatedAtBirthCasting: Lara Pulver was an incredible physical match for Richard Armitage's sister, with the same dark hair and IcyBlueEyes. Oddly enough, she was widely promoted as Guy's LongLostSibling in the lead-up to Series 3, even though the episode in which she first appeared held back on the familial relationship and turned it into [[TheReveal A Reveal]]. Either way, plenty of viewers guessed her connection to Guy based on their physical resemblance.
* TroubledProduction: Several master tapes were stolen only a month or two before the first series was to start airing, necessitating some last-minute reshoots. This unfortunately made the affected episodes of the already ChristmasRushed show look even more rushed and sketchy.
* UncreditedRole: "Tattoo? What Tattoo?" does not have a credited writer, with the line producer's name going where the writing credit would normally go in the opening credits. The episode was written by Julian Mitchell, and he was credited in pre-publicity and listings magazines, but (for unknown reasons) isn't on the episode itself.
* UnderageCasting: Not a terribly egregious example, but it still fits; Creator/LucyGriffiths was nineteen when she played Marian, who is supposed to be twenty-one.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** Keith Allen has stated that he was offered the part of the Sheriff four days before filming started, without any audition or interview, indicating that another actor pulled out at the last minute.
** There was obviously an attempt to set up the show for a fourth season, what with the introduction of Archer as Robin's half-brother who was tasked with [[LegacyCharacter taking up his mantle]] and leading the remaining outlaws. [[https://twitter.com/mwrightwriter/status/1064819981622394881 According to BBC writer/producer Mark Wright]], Sally Wainwright had been brought on as showrunner, the entire production was set to move to Scotland, and some scripts had even been written before news of the show's cancellation. Given that the final scene depicted the outlaws preparing to raise King Richard's ransom money, and since it's a given that Isabella survived the castle explosion (the actress was signed on for multiple seasons), the proposed fourth season would have likely focused on finding funds for Richard and the unique set-up of the new Robin and the Sheriff of Nottingham being half-siblings.
* WordOfSaintPaul: Creator/SamTroughton once stated that he envisioned his character Much as being [[UsefulNotes/{{Asexuality}} asexual]], presumably heteroromantic based on his {{Love Interest}}s.
* WrittenInInfirmity: Keith Allen lost a tooth during the filming of the final episode of the first series, which was written into the script. Accordingly, the Sheriff now has a series of different false teeth, some leather or jewelled, which he plucks (there's more than one of them) from the skulls he has in his chamber.
* YouLookFamiliar:
** Several guest actors appeared multiple times for small parts due to the show being shot in Hungary; the actor playing Henry of Lewes also played a Locksley villager in "Too Hot to Handle" and turned up as a castle guard on half a dozen other occasions.
** The actress playing Forrest's wife in the second episode of the series had a twin sister who played Beatrice in the second season.
