* ArtistDisillusionment: Jeph generally likes his fans, but he hates his discussion forum due to its tendencies towards SeriousBusiness and Shipping (ironic, considering the shift in focus of the comic towards relationships and the frequent shipping by character of each other and fictional characters from other media). At one point it got so bad that he openly threatened to delete the whole forum should people keep posting that kind of stuff. He has considerably softened up since then, realizing that the phrase "You can't please all of the people all of the time" is quite accurate.
%%* CreatorBreakdown: It turns out that if you combine quitting smoking with an apocalyptic hurricane and some truly spectacular Website/{{Tumblr}} bullshit Jeph will [[http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2309 snap.]] Or stab.
* CreatorsFavorite: Jeph rotates through a '''lot''' of them. Dora, Hanners, Marigold, Emily, Claire and Bubbles have been the main ones so far.
* {{Defictionalization}}:
** Most of the T-shirts sold in the store were first worn by members of the cast.
** Jeph has released quite a bit of music under the Deathmøle name, enough for several albums, in fact. It's quite good -- wholly instrumental post-metal composed entirely by Jeph.
* DemandOverload: The first page of Jeph Jacques' new comic killed the servers for both ''Questionable Content'' and the new one.
* LyingCreator: Jeph once claimed that he was "trolling" readers by [[ShipTease repeatedly Ship Teasing]] Marten and Claire. Not 400 strips later, [[RelationshipUpgrade they're in a relationship]].
* TheMerch: When Jeph used to sell QC merchandise (most notably T-shirts), it was common that the characters in the comic sported a new funny slogan or t-shirt in a few strips, then Jeph talked about it in the info post, then it showed up in the Merchandise section. Doing a massive Archive Crawl, you could see this six or seven times in a short span. Plushies of Yelling Bird, Pintsize and Winslow were also made.
* MutuallyFictional: A really subtle one with ''Questionable Content'' and ''Webcomic/{{xkcd}}''. Marigold wears an xkcd shirt [[http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1625 here]] (and fangirls over someone who looks like Randall Munroe [[http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1527 here]]), and [[http://xkcd.com/574/ this]] xkcd comic shows one of Hannelore's Twitter posts.
* ShrugOfGod: When asked at a convention if Jeph will ever reveal if Penelope is actually Pizza Girl or not, his response was "I will... when I decide if she is Pizza Girl or not."
%%* TeasingCreator: After being asked one too many times about where Steve has been, Jeph gives us [[http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2407 this.]]
* TrollingCreator: Long story short, Jeph Jacques has ''fun'' with shippers -- so much that it was a tradition in the past to have "surprise kisses on Friday", because there wouldn't be update between Fridays and Mondays. When asked about one StoryArc designed to piss off shippers in particular, [[WordOfGod his response]] was "See my entire comic". ShipSinking is a common occurrence in the comic, but in Jacques' defense, breakups for real-life twenty-somethings can be just as sudden, so this trait makes the comic actually kind of realistic.
%%* WhatCouldHaveBeen: According to TheRant on [[https://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=4923 #4923]]:
%%-->there was originally dialog in the last panel but when I hid it to do the inks I burst out laughing at them just squinting in silence
* WordOfGod: According to Jacques, Sara, a girl with a crush on Marten who worked at Coffee of Doom, got eaten by an allosaurus, which was why she disappeared from the comic.
* WriteWhatYouKnow: A webcomic about a bunch of indie music fans, musicians and heavy drinkers with mental problems. All four descriptions suit (or used to suit) Jacques. As the comic moved away from the initial story beats, topics such as yoga and [[VirtualYouTuber VTubers]] gained relevance not long after Jeph expressed growing interest in them.
