!! Random Trivia
* To this date, this series is the first ''Gundam'' series officially translated to Latin American Spanish since ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing'', albeit GW still remains as the only one with a Spanish dub. Also, it was the first one broadcasted into a mainstream service (Creator/{{Netflix}}), rather than a niche streaming service like Website/{{Crunchyroll}} in the same region.
!! General Trivia
* ActingForTwo: A lot:
** Haro and Esther are both voiced by Creator/RyoHirohashi in Japanese.
** Creator/UnshoIshizuka voices Kirkus while also reprising his role as [[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Meran]].
** Mineva/Audrey and Haro are both voiced by Creator/StephanieSheh in English.
* AnimeFirst: Averted for only the second time in ''Franchise/{{Gundam}}'' since ''[[Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack Char's Counterattack]]''. It's an adaptation of a novel series.
* TheCharacterDiedWithHim: While it was already known that Syam Vist was fated to pass on peacefully [[spoiler:to activate the ''Magallanica'']], it coincidentally became this trope when his voice actor Creator/IchiroNagai passed away mere months before the airing of Episode 7.
* ChannelHop:
** Zig-zagged since this is the first Gundam series to air on Creator/TVAsahi since ''Anime/AfterWarGundamX'', and mind you TV Asahi was Gundam's original home from 1979 to 1996.
** After Creator/BandaiEntertainment closed down in 2012, their North American release of ''Unicorn'' went out of print. One year later, Creator/NozomiEntertainment negotiated a distribution deal with Creator/{{Sunrise}} to release ''Unicorn'' in its entirety on DVD and Blu-ray.
** Whereas the previous English dubs for the ''Gundam'' franchise were produced by Creator/TheOceanGroup in Vancouver and Calgary, this OVA marks the first time a ''Gundam'' dub was produced by Creator/NYAVPost in Los Angeles and New York City.
* CrossRegionalVoiceActing:
** The English dub used voice actors from the New York City and Los Angeles areas.
** The Italian dub also included actors from the Rome and Milan areas.
* DirectedByCastMember: In the English dub, Creator/MichaelSinterniklaas was the ADR director as well as Angelo Sauper's voice actor.
* EarlyBirdCameo:
** The Unicorn was shown in ''Gundam vs. Gundam Next'', joined by the Kshatriya in the home version.
** The Sinanju and Delta Plus join the party in ''Gundam Extreme Vs''.
* NetworkToTheRescue: This series was originally supposed to come out in 2009, but Sunrise officials said the authors needed to polish the episodes a bit more, and changed the schedule.
* NewbieBoom: The series revived popular interest in the Universal Century timeline after several years out of the spotlight. Despite its later position in the chronology, ''Unicorn'' was the entrypoint into the UC continuity for many younger Gundam fans.
* NoExportForYou: Australia is one of the countries not listed as part of the international March 12 release, to the annoyance of some fans. Others hope that Creator/MadmanEntertainment will be able to get distribution rights somehow, rather than having to KeepCirculatingTheTapes.
** As of June 2011 Madman have released the first episode... but only on DVD. No word regarding a possible Blu-Ray release.
** Of course, the Blu-Rays are region free anyway, which is probably for the best for Western fans given that Amazon US stopped offering them after the first episode and Amazon in other regions never offered them in the first place.
* TheOtherDarrin:
** In the Japanese version:
*** ''Unicorn'' marks Bright Noa's first speaking appearance in a major ''Gundam'' production since his voice actor Creator/HirotakaSuzuoki's 2006 death, with Creator/KenNarita voicing the character.
*** Due to Creator/YouInoue succumbing to lung cancer in 2003, Haro is voiced by Creator/RyoHirohashi.
*** Creator/YukoKaida replaces Creator/ChiekoHonda (who died of cancer one month before episode 6 was released) as [=Marida/Ple Twelve=].
*** Creator/AyumiFujimura replaces Creator/MikiIto as Mineva Lao Zabi/Audrey Burne.
** Due to the English dub being recorded at Creator/NYAVPost instead of Creator/TheOceanGroup, the characters from the previous Universal Century installments were inevitably recast:
*** Creator/ChristopherCoreySmith voices Bright Noa instead of Chris Kalhoon and Dave Kelly.
*** Creator/EileenStevens voices Beltorchika Irma instead of Onalea Gilbertson.
*** Creator/StephanieSheh voices Mineva Lao Zabi instead of Katie Rowan.
*** Creator/KirkThornton voices Hasan instead of Zane Sampson.
*** Kevin T. Collins voices Kai Shiden instead of Creator/RichardIanCox and Scott Roberts.
*** Creator/KeithSilverstein voices Char Aznable instead of Creator/MichaelKopsa and Tom Edwards.
* PosthumousCredit: Despite his fatal heart attack, Creator/IchiroNagai is still credited for voicing Syam Vist in episode 7, since he completed his lines months in advance.
* ProducedByCastMember: In the English dub:
** Creator/MarcDiraison (Meran) served as a production staffer.
** Creator/StephanieSheh (Mineva/Audrey and Haro) was the dub's production coordinator.
* RealLifeRelative: Creator/KeikoHan reprises her role as Lalah Sune, while her daughter Creator/MegumiHan has a minor role as an operator.
* RoleReprise:
** Returning from the original ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam'' are Creator/ToruFuruya as Amuro Ray, Creator/ToshioFurukawa as Kai Shiden, Creator/KeikoHan as Lalah Sune, and Creator/ShuichiIkeda as Char Aznable.
** Creator/MasaharuSato and Creator/MariaKawamura reprise their respective roles of Dr. Hasan and Beltorchika Irma from ''Anime/MobileSuitZetaGundam''.
** Creator/UnshoIshizuka reprises his role as Meran from ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack''.
* ScrewedByTheLawyers: A relatively minor example in the Zeta Plus garrison at Cheyenne Mountain. They get barely any screentime before being effortlessly dispatched by the Tristars Team due to Sunrise not wanting to pay too much in royalties to Model Graphix magazine, which partly owns the rights to ''Manga/GundamSentinel''.
* StarMakingRole : for Creator/KoukiUchiyama,as he now become one of the most prominent seiyuu in Japanese.
* WrittenByCastMember: Creator/MichaelSinterniklaas (Angelo Sauper) and Creator/StephanieSheh (Audrey Burne and Haro) are credited as co-writers for the English dub.
* YouSoundFamiliar:
** From ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam'', Creator/IchiroNagai (the narrator) is Syam Vist and Creator/KatsujiMori (Garma Zabi) is a diner owner.
** Hill Dawson is voiced by Creator/HideyukiUmezu, who previously appeared as Nelmarsen in ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamZZ''.
** Riddhe Marcenas's actor Creator/DaisukeNamikawa previously played Alfred Izuruha in ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam0080WarInThePocket''.
