* AnimeFirst: Like the large majority of the franchise.
* CreatorCouple: Among the returning English cast members from previous Gundam series are husband and wife pair Creator/BrentMiller and Creator/NicoleBouma as Andrei Smirnov and Nena Trinity.
* CreatorsFavorite: Seiji Mizushima stated that his favorite character was Nena Trinity, largely because he previously worked with her voice actress Creator/RieKugimiya on Manga/FullmetalAlchemist. Although Nena's role in the series was largely unimportant and her fate was anticlimatic, she was a popular character in the series in Japan. Of course, in the West, to this day it's still a push between people who think she's cool and those who look at her as an evil bitch. Sometimes the former group thinks she's cool as an evil bitch
* ExecutiveMeddling:
** One of the main reasons for the change in the Gundams’ design from their unusually intricate styling in season one to the more traditionally blocky types in season two was due to Creator/Sunrise complaining that the former were too difficult to animate.
** Also, director Mizushima stated in an interview that the series was originally supposed to be set in the Universal Century but Sunrise vetoed it, so the series was rewritten into a new 'verse, hence the similarities: Minovski particles = GN Particles; Newtypes = Innovators; Cyber Newtypes = Innovades, etc...
** Gundam 00 as it was originally conceived wasn’t split into two seasons, with various events supposed to play out quite differently and at a different pace. Then Sunrise split the show into two 25 episode seasons...
* HeAlsoDid: Kenji Takahashi, who does both voice workAbel, Hong Long and photographyFor veteran Gundam contractor Creator/AsahiProduction for the series.
%%* PlayingAgainstType: Numerous seiyuus of past Gundam protagonists voiced antagonists this time around: Bad Amuro (Creator/ToruFuruya as Ribbons Almark), Bad Judau (Creator/KazukiYao as Aber Rindt), Bad Loran (Romi Paku as Regene Regetta), Bad Al (Creator/DaisukeNamikawa as Michael Trinity), Bad Eledore (Creator/KeijiFujiwara as Ali al-Saachez), Bad Sai (Tetsu Shiratori as Andrei Smirnov).
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: This show had a planned dubbed broadcast in Brazil in 2021, being the second Gundam series after Wing to be dubbed in Brazilian Portuguese. However, internal issues and negligence of the channel owners resulted in the dub being cancelled after seven episodes. After that the show has never been released with the dub in other media (in the country, it's only available with subtitles on Crunchyroll), and no one knows where the dub lasted since the channel itself provided it and is now defunct.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: According to WordOfGod, Gundam 00 was originally supposed to have been fifty continuous episodes like every past Gundam series and not two separate seasons. The story was planned to span 4 years, with the time skip happening in episode 32. The results of the split season were that the time skip happened after episode 25; the first part of the story ended up being put in the first 31 episodes; and the Lyle/Anew subplot was added into the story.
** The Gundams originally had more of a s. Their names have changed, but their roles have remained the same.
*** The Exia was the Pawn Gundam. With short, limited range, it serves its purpose best by charging into the field, annoying and disrupting everything. However, if it ever crosses the chessboard, its potential can become limitless.
*** The Dynames was the Bishop Gundam. Although possessing long range, its limited scope leaves it vulnerable to any unit that can reach it.
*** The Kyrios was the Knight Gundam. Able to ignore enemy defenses and attack with impunity, it serves to harass and break up fortifications.
*** The Virtue was the Rook Gundam. With long offensive range and powerful defensive capabilities, it not only is a dangerous unit on its own, but it is also the bodyguard unit for...
*** The Queen Gundam, or the Nadleeh. With the ability to reach anywhere and anything it wishes, the Queen can dominate the battlefield. However, she takes some time to deploy, and for all her power, she's not invincible and is a prime target to be captured. Also, note the Nadleeh's distinct feminine design, as well as Tieria's own androgyny.
*** The 0 Gundam was originally meant to be an active command-and-control unit, and thus fulfills the role of the King. By itself, it is extremely weak, but capture or destruction of that unit would lose the entire battle. It also helps that 'Oh' in Japanese means 'King' as well.
** In the DVD commentaries, Creator/AyumiTsunematsu mentioned her character, Marina Ismail, was going to have a significant part later on. Nothing happened in the end or in the movie.
** On the Gunpla side of things, all 4 of the season 1 lead Gundams had 1/60 scalethis scale is more along the lines of a 1/144 High Grade or No Grade as opposed to a Perfect Grade, which has the same scale but much more detail and is much more expensive kits announced, but only the Exia had a kit in this scale released. One possible reason for them not being released is that the scale was discontinued after the release of the Exia, meaning that plans to release the 1/60 Dynames, Kyrios, and Virtue were scrapped.
** Tieria was originally planned on being a Bifauxnen woman who dresses like a man, and there are some elements in the first season that foreshadow it early on, such as his name, suffering PronounTrouble when his masculine Gundam reveals a very feminine inner form, and appearing much more feminine when upset. However, this was scrapped. Another concept that was scrapped was for him to be even more effeminate than he already was in the final show.
