Go To

* ActingForTwo:
** Creator/DonMessick voices both Dr. Benton Quest and Bandit.
** The voice actor for Race, Mike Road, fills in the voices for a lot of one-off characters such as White Feather in “Werewolf of the Timberland.”
* CanonDiscontinuity: Comics of ''Jonny Quest'' was created by a publisher called Comico in the 1980s. These comics attempted to provide Race Bannon's past history, an origin story of Jezebel Jade (in a self-titled limited series), and a backstory of Dr Zin.
* ChildrenVoicingChildren: Tim Matheson (Jonny) and Danny Bravo (Hadji) were 16 years old at the time of the series' premiere.
* CreatorBacklash: Doug Wildey disliked both Bandit and Dr. Zin, both for taking away the show's credibility, with the latter being his least favourite human villain due to finding the MadScientist seeking to take over the world a bad cliche.
* CreatorsFavoriteEpisode: Doug Wildey's favourite episode was "Shadow of the Condor", one of the best looking episodes of the series with powerful layouts and artwork and an entirely plausible story.
* FollowTheLeader: The main cast are iconic action/adventure characters although Jonny Quest's original show was designed as an adaptation and then a follow the leader of the radio series ''Jack Armstrong''.
** Some elements of ''Jonny Quest'' would become elements other Hanna Barbera shows would FollowTheLeader on as well.
* InspirationForTheWork: For inspiration Doug Wildey drew from the films of Creator/JackieCooper and Creator/FrankieDarrow, ''ComicStrip/TerryAndThePirates'', and, at the behest of Hanna-Barbera, ''Film/DrNo.''
* RemakeCameo: In ''WesternAnimation/TomAndJerrySpyQuest'', the President is voiced by Creator/TimMatheson, Jonny's 60s voice actor.
* TheOtherDarrin: As noted, Creator/DonMessick replaced John Stephenson as Dr. Quest due to creators feeling his voice was too similar to Race.
* ScrewedByTheNetwork: The show swapped nights with ''WesternAnimation/TheFlintstones'' so the latter show wouldn't get thrashed in the ratings by ''Series/TheMunsters''.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: The show was originally supposed to be an adaptation of the radio serial ''[[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Armstrong,_the_All-American_Boy Jack Armstrong]]''. The story is that Hanna-Barbera could not or would not get the rights resulting in the concept having to be reworked.
* WorkingTitle: ''The Saga of Chip Baloo'' and ''Quest File 037''. The latter is [[DevelopmentGag referenced in the pilot]] when Benton Quest’s file with Intelligence One codenames him “O37”.
* WriteWhatYouKnow: Or draw, in this case. One of the animators working on "Shadow of the Condor" was a UsefulNotes/WorldWarI airplane buff, and the Fokker Dr.1 and Spad are gorgeously drawn.
