The sheer power of rock kicks up debris in an old west ghost town the car flies through, and the band members fly off a cliff only to land on another vehicle.
3	*** Then there's the intro to ''Rock Band 2''. Rock band duel on speeding cars, anyone? The one dude has a mic ''attached to a flail''.
4	** ''VideoGame/GuitarHero II'' had an animated TV commercial in which a band plays "Woman" by Wolfmother. A giant asteroid headed straight for them is withered away to a pebble by the sheer power of their rock, capped when the guitarist catches it before slamming into the next phrase. The message appears to be that even an actual rock is no match for this trope.
5	** ''VideoGame/GuitarHero III'' has you battle the devil with, of course, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia". The intro has a guitarist literally climbing Mt. Olympus and defeating the gods of rock.
6	*** The intro movie of ''Guitar Hero World Tour'' has that same devil, this time in league with a [[LawyerFriendlyCameo Lawyer Friendly]] caricature of Kenny G (?!), defeated by an all-star rock band.
7	** ''Lego Rock Band'' uses this in a number of game challenges. Including destroying a building, defending a castle, and jump starting a UFO. [[spoiler:It runs on Rock-It fuel.]]
8	** The plot of ''Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock'' is to assemble the titular "Warriors of Rock" (six characters from previous Guitar Hero games, plus two newcomers) and do battle with "the Beast" and recover the legendary ax-guitar that is the key to freeing "the Demigod of Rock". It's the literal interpretation of the trope.

The majority are buffs or status effects, but the most powerful abilities nullify magic attacks aimed at the party or lower the cost of all spells to 0.
23	** In ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyXI'', the bard is [[GameBreaker very popular with parties]]. Not spoony at all.
24	* ''VideoGame/RevolutionX'' featured a more practical example of this trope by including ''a gun that shoots exploding [=CDs=]''. Needless to say, it was SoBadItsGood.

Otto plays what sounds like a rock guitar solo using Globox's arm instead of a guitar but this has no effect. The second doctor they visit, Romeo, plays a drum solo on Globox's belly, but this doesn't work either. The third doctor Globox visits conducts a classical piece, performed by Otto and Romeo (again, using Globox as an instrument). This is too much for Andre, who finally leaves.
45	* In ''VideoGame/SlyCooperThievesInTime'' Bentley blasts some heavy metal to piss off Miss Decibel as a ploy to bug her office. Needless to say that neither she or Salim Al-Kupar are fans.
46	* In ''VideoGame/EarthBound1994'', the only way to pass through the tunnel to Threed is to befriend a blues band, who will give you a lift on their tour bus, allowing you to barrel through the tunnel full of ghosts while playing happy music, preventing said ghosts from grabbing you and throwing you back to Twoson. The band appears again to save you from the Clumsy Robot by jumping behind it and flipping the switch. Not exactly the power of rock but at least it's done by musicians.
47	** Not to mention the main character's special attack is by default named "PSI Rockin." This is why it's very important to imagine Ness playing air guitar with his bat when you use it.
48	*** The prequel ''VideoGame/EarthBoundBeginnings'' takes this a step further. You actually have to use the ''sing'' command to defeat the BigBad.
49	*** AND AGAIN in the Japan-only sequel ''VideoGame/{{MOTHER 3}}'' the band DCMC sees through King P's false promises and helps you destroy him (and his little robots, too!) from the inside. Also, a member of your party played bass for the DCMC while donning an afro wig.
50	*** Also in ''MOTHER 3'', if you tap the A button to the beat of the background music when attacking in battle, you can keep hitting the opponent in a combo up to sixteen times. All at the same time.

AND! ROLL!!!]] at the top of one's lungs. And then proceeds to jump from the back of a (speeding) pickup truck into its cab by doing so.

All units jump up to maximum morale and proceed to rip apart the Ghost X-9's like no tomorrow.]]
64	** Speaking of Basara, as impressive as his singing is in his series proper, [[AwesomeButImpractical the actual usefulness of Fire Bomber is in fact very minimal]] in the VideoGame/SuperRobotWars games. In both ''[[VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsAlpha Alpha 3]]'' and ''VideoGame/SuperRobotWarsDestiny'', Fire Bomber is practically a group of stat-boosters normally and cannot attack enemies at all (Destiny) or only inflict status changes on enemies (Alpha 3). However, when Protodevlin bosses (and ONLY bosses, mind you) show up, Fire Bomber rises to LethalJokeCharacter status due to their music negating the natural defenses (normally, you'd need Valor or Soul just to do ''normal damage'' to them) of the Protodevlin.
65	*** Fire Bomber extends past this by exactly ONE boss in ''Alpha 3''. [[spoiler: This boss just happens to be Keisa Ephes, the final boss of the game and an amalgamation of dark emotions, wicked intent and all that stuff. Which is exactly why the Anima Spiritia of Fire Bomber is able to damage the monster, and even land the killing blow with them should the player wish. Yes, you can [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu punch out Cthulhu]] with this trope.]]

The modern-day Great Musician looks like a three-person rock band. This power of rock may not be supernatural, but it's definitely an example of the ''true'' power of rock: winning hearts.
81	** The same is true in the ''Gathering Storm'' expansion for ''VI'', which adds the Rock Band as a late-game cultural unit. Purchased using Faith, rock bands are sent overseas to tour, generating tourism for their home country and helping them win a cultural victory. Upon creating a rock band, you name it (with the randomized names all designed to evoke AGoodNameForARockBand) and give it one of several promotions that inform what type of music it plays, giving it various bonuses; for instance, GlamRock, {{reggae}}, and festival bands gain bonuses for playing at theater squares, water parks, and national parks respectively, [[ChristianRock religious bands]] can convert foreign cities, and [[IndiePop indie rock]] bands [[RebelliousSpirit reduce loyalty in foreign cities]] (great for when you want to flip a neighboring city with shaky loyalty to the civ controlling it).
82	* In ''VideoGame/GranblueFantasy'', this eventually calms the Primal Beast Xolotl, now reminding it of the happier past when the ancient Xochitl people had accepted it without fear. It requires a group of chosen idol girls sing its favorite song.

[[EverythingIsBetterWithExplosions Explosive]] wubs. Unlike most of the weapons in the game, the alternate skins on the weapon are actually functional, as they change the music of the wubs, and thus the frequency and firing rate of the gun.
86	* ''VideoGame/SkulTheHeroSlayer'': The Rock Star skull allows Skul to shred on his guitar, dealing rapid-fire magic damage at a very short range. Managing to [[EpicRocking play the solo for long enough]] without getting interrupted summons the rest of the Star's band, which deals massive damage to all enemies on screen. Secondary abilities include strumming an explosion and summoning amps to deal radial pulse damage.
87	* ''VideoGame/HeroesOfTheStorm'' has ETC (Elite Tauren Chieftan) as a playable hero. Naturally, he wields a literal axe (a guitar with an axe blade on it) and has rock/metal themed abilities, including [[InvoluntaryDance Mosh Pit]] and [[DynamicEntry Stage Dive]].

Without the tape, the maze just leads Jesse around in a small circle and spits her back out at the entrance; with it, completely new passageways open up to let Jesse through to Dimensional Research. The song explicitly references the backstory, directly namedrops Polaris and the Oldest House, alludes to the Hiss and Oceanview Motel, and maybe even causes the Ashtray Maze to start ''helping'' Jesse by turning against the Hiss as opposed to just letting her pass. After she's through, Jesse removes the headphones and declares "that was awesome", and it was.
91	* In ''VideoGame/{{Piratez}}'', a high-level equivalent of the Battle Flag is a badass guitar. Its main function is to boost Time Units of nearby characters.

97	* Narbash from the cancelled ''VideoGame/Paragon2016'' MOBA. His move set involves playing his drums to bolster allies and disrupt enemies, while using his massive drum sticks to pummel foes.

Since ''[[Literature/LordOfTheRings the books]]'' don't have easy healing or resurrection as in most similar games, players are instead said to have morale instead of health. They don't die, they just run away and feel bad for a bit, and bards don't do supernatural healing, they just inspire their allies to continue fighting. Except that when bards sing at an enemy, they clearly fall down dead just as if they'd been hit with a sword, and can have their stuff taken and body parts looted in the normal manner. So whether this trope is in play depends on if you believe [[AllThereInTheManual what the game tells you]], or what clearly actually happens during gameplay.
