* Despite him being treated as a joke villain (like everyone else), what happened to Doctor Two-Brains is pretty sad. An intellectual NiceGuy driven to evil and insanity by placing something on his head, voiced by Creator/TomKenny? Two-Brains is basically a science-y [[WesternAnimation/AdventureTime Ice King]] on a show with a younger target audience.
* A show-wide one that isn't dwelt on but is still present: Becky has all of the traits of [=WordGirl=] since she ''is'' [=WordGirl=], but no one ever gives her proper credit for them since she's just a normal girl. Is it any wonder she's so shocked to hear Tobey praising her in "By Jove, You've Wrecked My Robot"?
* Another show-wide one: Becky has to constantly sacrifice having anything resembling a life in order to fight crime as [=WordGirl=]. She even has to miss her own birthday party. Having to keep her SecretIdentity secret also causes her no end of trouble and stress. Miss Power makes note of this, but her (legitimate) point is dismissed out of hand in the name of the movie's Aesop. It does not help that the Narrator and Captain Huggyface will push ChronicHeroSyndrome onto Becky.
* Yet another show-wide one: no matter how long Wordgirl's been protecting Fair City, and the number of people she's saved, they have a bad habit of turning on her, especially when a villain gets involved. Even when she tries to tell them the truth, they refuse to listen to her at first.
* In "Tobey Goes Good": Tobey does as the name states; he enters an invention contest ''without'' any form of cheating or destroying or other kind of evil, and claims he's turned himself around for good. Obviously he's lying in order to achieve some evil goal, right? ''Wrong''. After losing the contest to what he sees as an inferior invention, Tobey goes back to destroying with his robot, but has this to say to Wordgirl:
-->'''Tobey:''' I have to hand it to you, Wordgirl, you were right about me. I hadn't changed into a ''no-good'' '''''do-gooder!''''' (cut to Tobey shows he's about to cry) It doesn't pay to be nice! After all, you try to be nice and not destroy things and look at what happens! You end up losing to an ''egg slicer!'''
** Then he almost ''kills'' Wordgirl, despite having stopped Dr. Two Brains from doing so when they teamed up just two episodes earlier. He was so upset about his apparent 'failure' to be good that he stopped caring about what happened next, even after saying he only turned good to win her affection.
** The worst part about the whole thing? Tobey losing the contest had ''nothing'' to do with him being [[DudleyDoRightStopstoHelp good]] or [[DickDastardlyStopstoCheat evil]]. The judges just liked another invention better than his. But he just cannot accept the reality that LifeIsntFair, it ''has'' to be because he made a wrong choice to be good.
* "The Rise of Miss Power":
** It hurts a lot to see [=WordGirl=] mocking Tobey, who is often somewhat of a FriendlyEnemy, and reducing him to an inability to move out of despair.
** The Butcher's frantic and confused pleading to know where [=WordGirl=] is when Miss Power is taunting him, saying that [=WordGirl=] isn't mean like Miss Power.
** [=WordGirl=]/Becky Botsford insults her closest friend Captain Huggyface/Bob by calling him "just her sidekick" after everything the two have been through. The fact that Bob gave up his life as the galaxy's greatest pilot to watch after and care for the alien girl just to be called "just her sidekick" is really heartbreaking, and the look on Bob's face further cements how hurt he is after hearing this. It goes from utterly crushed to furious within seconds. Becky immediately regrets this and tries to apologize but Bob pushes her away in anger, refusing to talk to her for the rest of part 2 and nearly all of part 3. He only comes back to Wordgirl when he hears the news that Miss Power has downed her. Although Becky apologizes after that to him, this still counts as a TearJerker.
** [=WordGirl=] is [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown beaten]] by Miss Power, is given a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech, is called weak, and even has her star insignia removed.
* "Rhyme and Reason":
** Violet finds out her best friend Becky is [=WordGirl=], and feels betrayed for being lied to. She tells Becky she's not sure if they can be friends anymore, making Becky cry. Even The Narrator is taken aback.
--->'''Violet:''' I'm only going to ask you once, and whatever answer you give me, I'll believe it. Becky... are you [=WordGirl=]?
--->'''Becky:''' ''(stammers)'' Yes. I'm [=WordGirl=].
--->''(Violet tears up and whimpers.)''
--->'''Becky:''' Violet, you don't understand! I didn't want to lie to you! I had to! It's... It's complicated!
--->'''Violet:''' No, I know. And I want you to know that I'm not mad at you.
--->'''Becky:''' ''[[HopeSpot (breathes a sigh of relief)]]'' [[HopeSpot Violet, I've got to tell you, that is... That is a huge relief!]]
--->'''Violet:''' [[WhamLine You and I just aren't friends anymore.]]
--->'''Becky:''' ''(stunned)'' W-wait... what?
--->'''Violet:''' In fact, I don't think you and I were ever really friends.
--->'''Becky:''' Okay, wait, wait, wait!
--->'''Violet:''' You're this whole other person. A person I don't really know.
--->'''Becky:''' Wha-- Yes, you do! I'm Becky Botsford!
--->'''Violet:''' And [=WordGirl=]!
--->'''Becky:''' But--
--->'''Violet:''' I'm sorry, Becky... ''[=WordGirl=]''. I wish I could believe you... but how could I? All you've ever done is lie to me.
--->'''Becky:''' ''(on the verge of tears)'' Violet...
--->'''Violet:''' Goodbye, Becky... [=WordGirl=]... ''(hands Becky the pictures)''
--->'''Becky:''' ''Violet...''
--->''(Looking as if she's about to cry, Becky leaves Violet's house along with a shocked Bob.)''
--->''' Narrator:''' Well, uh, this is, uh... Huh, I don't, um... I don't really know what to say, uh... so, um... stick around? Maybe? Because maybe we can resolve all this, get back to a little harmony? Hopefully? On the next episode of... [=WordGirl=]? Oh, goodness.
** Notice Violet's wording before she gives her ultimatum. She says that Becky ''was'' the best friend she's ever had, not that Becky ''is'' the best friend she has. Before she even ''tells'' Becky, Violet has ended their friendship.
*** Reason leaving Rhyme behind after getting fed up with her incompetent attempts at villainy. He doesn't just want to leave their criminal partnership, he wants to end their ''friendship'', and he returns half of their friendship necklace to her when doing so.
