4	* Lamika's death, having decided that she no longer had any reason to live if going on without her father meant she would no longer live as a noblewoman. D, knowing she has human blood in her urges her to decide for herself whether to go on living as a vampire or as a human, but Lamika instead vows to die as the noble she is. D looks upon her with his usual stoic expression, but perhaps slightly more saddened that she has decided her life no longer has any meaning as he watches her march calmly to her fate.
5	* Dr. Fehring's death at Lamika's hands, after having himself been transformed into a vampire. Before he is stabbed to death, Fehring acknowledges he once saw Doris as the closest thing he ever had to a daughter, all the while entertaining the idea of being able to suck her blood. Before falling to his death, he pleads a traumatized Doris to forgive him for his actions.
6	* The death of Doris' horse Luke at the start of the film, having been viciously mauled by a mutant and then dragged away to his violent end by a werewolf before Doris was able to rescue him.

8	!! ''Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust''
9	* Alone with each other after an attack from the Barbarois, D and Leila muse that no one will likely mourn the other. Leila suggests a deal to which D agrees: whoever lives longer should visit the grave of the other. At the end of the film, the nigh-immortal D [[IGaveMyWord keeps his end of the bargain]], arriving just after Leila's burial sixty years later. She didn't die alone after all: her grave is surrounded by her family, including her granddaughter. He refers to Leila as an 'old friend' and gives her granddaughter a smile when she asks him to come visit her family, indicating that they not only know who he is, but she hints that her father, at least, would be legitimately ''thrilled'' to see the enigmatic hunter, as Leila has apparently told them all about D. Although he refuses, due to his own personal hangups about being a Dhampir, the ending is actually kinda happy, despite the tearjearker way it occurs. There's at least ''one'' family out there who would welcome D as a friend and with open arms, if he could just bring himself to take them up on their kindness...
10	** In the scene where Leila and D make their deal, Leila wonders to D about why he does what he does when he clearly hates it so much. D's response is as simple as it is devastating:

12	* Charlotte's [[DiedInYourArmsTonight death in Meier's arms]] and his mourning. Even the hardened vampire hunter Leila, who kills vampires because ItsPersonal, couldn't bring herself to shoot him as he wept.
13	* After Charlotte's death, D and Leila leave Meier to mourn her inside Carmilla's castle -- inside which is a rocket that would take any on-board to the "City of the Night". As the castle crumbles behind D and Leila, the rocket (carrying Meier and Charlotte) fires.

16	* Leila -- understanding Meier's decision after seeing him mourn for Charlotte -- not only urges the rocket to keep going, but sheds tears as it escapes her sight.

19	* ''Raiser of Gales'' ends on a bittersweet note. Despite her hopes, Lila begins to disintegrate into dust shortly after she gives an impassioned speech to her examiners and to the audience about how she hopes the Nobility and humanity might one day be able to co-exist in peace, just after revealing herself to be a artificial hybrid. Although her death is tamer compared to her childhood friends' more gruesome fates, it's still a somber affair. That said, her speech did reach her secret admirer (the same one who gave her flowers who she hoped to meet before she died) yells to D as he leaves for the Capital that he intends to study the Nobility, likely to continue Lila's dreams for her.
20	* If you were hoping ''Demon Deathchase'' ends the same way as its film adaptation ''Bloodlust'', think again. Unlike in the film, Meier and Charlotte arrive at the castle to find...nothing. Their hopes for escaping to a better life are dashed. D and Leila catch up to them and the former intends to finish off Meier, [[HopeSpot only to stop just short of his heart and claim Charlotte's ring as "proof" of her death]]. Even that moment of happiness is torn away as Borgoff-possessed Machira kills Meier in full view of Charlotte. When D dispatches Machira and turns his attention to Charlotte, he finds her [[TogetherInDeath impaled on Meier's claws, having chosen to die with him than live without her beloved]].
21	* The ending of ''Pilgrimage of the Sacred and the Profane.'' After D, Granny Viper, and [[EnemyMine the Bullow Brothers]] manage to get the girl Tae to safety, Granny Viper is killed by an assassin hired by the same lawyer who'd hired the Brothers to kill D. The next day Tae and D take the old woman to be buried, Tae driving the funeral wagon and D walking along behind in the scorching sun with his hat off as the only mourner to attend. The lawyer rejoices at his plan working so well, since he knows that as a dhampir D is weakened by the sun, and encourages the Bullow Brothers to go out and take him down. The Brothers think about [[FireForgedFriends the pilgrimage across the desert they went through with D, Tae, and Viper]] and wordlessly head out, come up silently behind D... [[BaitAndSwitch and then take off their hats and fall in step behind him]].
