* During the second part of the Hide-and-Seek test, Hoh denies ever being Bam's friend and proceeds to commit suicide in front of him and the other regulars (and Quant).
* After watching her grow as a character throughout the Floor of Tests, even developing what looked to be a genuine friendship with Shibisu, seeing Serena's journey come to an end as someone who failed to move on to the 3rd Floor with the other graduate Regulars can be quite a heartbreaker.
* Nia's death. The omake in which Wangnan visits a Chinese restaurant and orders some noodles, only to be reminded of Nia and break down into tears.
* Rachel betraying Bam. The utter look of shock on Bam's face sells it, especially since Bam sincerely looked up to her and promised to help her climb the Tower. The aftermath counts too. Despite everyone else passing the Submerged Fish Hunt test, Rachel included, [[PyrrhicVictory no one is happy]] (besides [[{{Jerkass}} Paracule]]), because someone important is missing in the group.
** Rak's reaction to Bam's supposed death is to wail out loud, all of his anger, frustration, and sorrow pouring out in his voice. For all his earlier talk of want to fight him, it was clear that Rak considered Bam to be his friend.
** Anaak, for the first time in years since her mother's death, sheds tears for Bam's disappearance. They may have gotten off on the wrong foot, and probably didn't spend too much time together, but she clearly appreciated Bam's presence and kindness.
* "Become the fence that protects Rachel. Always help her, be kind to her, and pretend to be "friends." But remember. Never get attached to her. Don't ever think of her as your friend. So that you can ignore her cries of pain one day. Despise her. Because she is the woman that killed my most precious friend."
* How much Bam has changed.
--> '''Bam''': ''(Pre-timeskip)'' Isn't there...a way to make everyone happy? Not a method like this...
--> '''Bam''': ''(Post-timeskip, he chillingly answers his own question)'' There is no way everyone can be happy. It's only possible that someone will be happy.
* Horyang's [[DarkAndTroubledPast past]] before he entered the Tower.
* Cassano stabbing Horyang in the back.
** Viole's reaction.
** [[http://www.webtoons.com/viewer?titleNo=95&episodeNo=131 Chapter 2/51]] takes it farther; not only did Sia Sia force Bam to turn his back on one of his best friends, but she blew up the Hand of Arlen anyways, and almost kills Khun. Meanwhile, Michael killed Gyetang in a borderline torture session, and Edin Dan gets stabbed by Rachel and looks to be dead. It's learned in a later chapter that while Dan lived, he will never be able to run as fast as he once could. Rachel made sure to stab him in the legs to take away his amazing speed. Dan says that Rachel left him alive on purpose so that he would lose hope and know what it was like to be stuck in a wheelchair like Rachel was. The whole things is just a cruel, downright tearjerker but does have some hope when Dan refuses to give up and asks Khun to let him on his team for the Workshop Battle..
** Viole ''crying'' over Khun's supposed death. To a lesser extent, Rachel asking what she did wrong - it's becoming less and less clear if she's outright evil or just ''very'' misguided.
* In [[http://www.webtoons.com/viewer?titleNo=95&episodeNo=145 chapter 2/145]] Bam outright says that he's already lost his will to live.
* In Season 2 Chapter 225, Rak apparently dies in the crossfire between Yuri, Evan, and Karaka. Though it's unknown if NeverFoundTheBody will apply.
** It does, but only after 32 chapters did readers get to know- AKA ''eight real-time months.''
* Unfortunately, Prince and Akraptor are killed far less ambiguously in Season 2 Chapter 227.
* Following Prince and Akraptor's deaths, Wangnan is tormented by memories of the friends who have died along his journey.
* Jinsung's capture. Defeated and about to try to pull off a HeroicSacrifice by holding off Kallavan and Maschenny from getting to the Last Station, he remembers his time with Bam back when he hadn't gotten fond of him yet, where he trained him roughly only to be impressed by his will, and with him now seeing Viole like a son, he solemnly think about how he wanted to apologize to Viole for putting him through all that, yet at that moment it seems impossible to do now.
** Viole's reaction to Kallavan proclaiming Jinsung's possible demise. He gets rabidly angry and activates the Thorn and becomes suicidal, attacking Kallavan without caring as he remembers the time he had with his master.
* The tragic familial relationship between Gado, Deng-Deng and Louie. Gado was actually Louie's true father, and Deng-Deng was just his adopted son meant to carry Doom's heart until the time came for Doom to be revived. While outwardly stoic over Deng-Deng's death, as he dies, it is shown that Gado really did come to care for Deng-Deng and regretted having to choose his true son over his adopted, especially the fact that his death would cause Louie pain.
** Bam's reaction to it is also quite tearjerking. We have to remember even now Bam is still a compassionate individual who sought to save people when he could, but this time his failure may just hit the new low with the fact that he ''can'' save Deng-Deng, but it would mean killing Louie, meaning there was no way for them to really get their happy ending. He bitterly laments about feeling like he is a Hypocrite as he can't choose one live over another like Gado can and cries when Louie tearfully asks him to succeed in saving people next time.
* If you think Bam hasn't been hit with enough hard dose of reality, his fight with White pushes him to the extreme. With the fact that his friends have been murdered and he didn't have enough power to defeat their killer, Bam comes to realize the harsh truth that his efforts to be with his friends side have instead repeatedly put them into danger and staying the way that he is will only make him unable to keep them. The whole title of the arc, A Dark Twist, essentially symbolizes how Bam ''willingly'' twists himself into using darker powers in a quite tragic attempt to prevent any further tragedy.
* Wangwang's death is easily a great tragedy. His instinct was to serve a master with all he had, and he was willing to be put through hell just to be a good servant to Traumerei. Just when it seemed things were getting better for him, Yasratcha in all his twisted desire to save and have Wangwang all for himself ruined everything. His own master killed his love and then coldly acknowledged him as a traitor and outright stated any care he may have had died when Wangwang acted impulsively. And yet despite that Wangwang still wished to be killed by his master if at least it would spare his people.
** Yasratcha being forced to kill Wangwang also counts. Sure, he definitely had it coming, but the fact remained that he did genuinely love Wangwang and seeing him being helpless to stop himself as Traumerei has him kill Wangwang, an act that the Family Head makes clear through his expression as being a MercyKill rather than a sadistic attempt to make it harder for both of them, can be quite saddening. The fact that he swiftly breaks down afterwards is quite deserved, especially as he ''still'' spites Wangwang in death by killing the Canines despite Traumerei granting them mercy and telling Yasratcha to take them away as he pleased, but his feelings can still be rather pitiable.
* While by no means justified, Traumerei's behavior is surprisingly pretty poignant. His attitude as a Jerkass ControlFreak was actually to deal with the bitterness and pain he felt over how everything changed since Arlen and V's betrayal and likely Jahad distancing himself from it, believing that the only way he could ensure the loyalty of his servants was by controlling them. This is made worse when counting the fact that Traumerei lost one of his kids during the war caused by his former friends and did ''not'' take it well at all, which makes how far he's changed, to where he doesn't even care anymore about his descendants and being willing to kill them, pretty sad and it's apparent he hardened himself so he didn't have to be hurt that way anymore. It's clear he didn't exactly start out as the cold-hearted control obsessed being that he was, but rather became that person after plenty of trauma.
** In a way, this makes his relationship with Wangwang quite tragic. Wangwang was quite likely the only person apart from members of his family who was truly loyal to him. It was probably the first time the Family Head experienced a lesser being that he couldn't control yet unconditionally devote himself to him. It was indicated at first Traumerei didn't know what to do with whatever feelings that came out of it, so he distanced himself and forced Wangwang through all the hardships he endured trying to see if it'll break him, if not even hoping it would. When it didn't, Traumerei couldn't hide that he was actually starting to develop a degree of fondness and appreciation for his dog and thus threw him a bone by giving him the freedom to fall in love with Nen Neya. His anger whenever Wangwang actually hesitated with his order makes it clear even if he would and ultimately did, he would not enjoy having to kill the first "lower being" that actually served him willingly. Ultimately, thanks to the cat that he apparently showed favor to simply because it would be easy enough to get rid of him if he ever betrayed him, it all came to nothing and yet again Traumerei had to lose someone he at least valued because of love, proving to himself insecurities and fears about love turning against him right. Even his last treatment of Wangwang, while utterly callous, looks more like a hardened father resigning that he had to dispose of his son, and in a way, he doesn't even deny that he did once care for Wangwang.
--> ''Traumerei'': ... In the end, you're baring your teeth at me too. Dog. I knew you would betray me. In the end, you're no different from the others. They all leave me when they fall in love and become obsessed with something. That's where your loyalty ends too. Even though you bared your teeth at me.... I can't kill the dog that i've raised myself.
** The first chapter released after SIU comes back from another hiatus starts... With Traumerei confessing about how he's having nightmares that are fragments of the memory that he threw aside to Leviathan. The man just sounds utterly despondent as he laments how he can never recall who it was with. One of the most "superior" beings in the entire Tower, and yet strip away at all the ruthlessness, obsession, and power, and Lo Po Bia Traumerei is ultimately a victim who can ''never'' truly escape his suffering. It speaks volumes that even ''Jahad'' is concerned enough to ask him about it.
