{{Stealth Pun}}s in WesternAnimation.
----

* The ''WesternAnimation/AdventureTime'' episode "Return to the Nightosphere" begins with Finn and Jake [[WhatDidIDoLastNight waking up with no recent memory]] in a cage full of bananas. Turns out the demon jailer ''[[SolidGoldPoop pooped them]]'' out of his ears. [[spoiler:Shit was bananas, yo.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TheAmazingWorldOfGumball'':
** Penny is a peanut, and she has antlers. She's a [[spoiler:doe-nut]].
** Penny is also Gumball's girlfriend. Gumballs are commonly sold as ''penny'' candy.
** In "The Safety", when Darwin puts a profanity filter on reality, Gumball decides to test it by stomping on his brother's foot. Darwin's shouts are interrupted by a cut to [[RelaxOVision a series of images while soothing music plays]], but the images (a woman cradling a baby, a farmer with a pitchfork, a donkey, and a [[NonIronicClown party clown]]) imply Darwin was saying [[spoiler: "You mother-forking ass-clown!"]]
* Subverted in ''WesternAnimation/AmericanDad'':
-->'''Hayley:''' You have angina[[note]]This is a real disease[[/note]].\
'''Francine:''' Which according to Dr. Natterson sounds like vagina... I don't know about that, but he's the doctor.
** Another episode has a secondary story revolving around bees. What's another term for "[[TwoLinesNoWaiting secondary story]]"?
** Another episode has an extremely stealth one. When Francine takes an elevator down a shaft Stan built in his house to find Oliver North's gold, Francine comes across a donkey. Stan later says that he was all alone in the hole with only the donkey. A shaft, and a donkey. Whats another name for a donkey in a shaft? An ass in a hole, hence [[DontExplainTheJoke an asshole]].
* For years, the opening sequence of ''WesternAnimation/{{Animaniacs}}'' got away with showing Yakko getting lunchmeat shoved down the front of his trousers, while all three Warners sang "there's bologna in our slacks". Yep, they played "Hide the Sausage" in full view on a kid's show...
** An even clever one. The Warner siblings are referred to as the "Warner Bros." The period at the end is also called a "Dot", which explains the sister's name.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Archer}}'':
** A RunningGag in involves a Chinese restaurant that gives out a papier-mâché duck filled with "sweet-and-sour sauce." The other name of "sweet-and-sour sauce" is never mentioned.
** There's a global internet search engine called "10^100", i.e. [[Website/{{Google}} Googol]].
* ''WesternAnimation/AvatarTheLastAirbender'':
** In "[[Recap/AvatarTheLastAirbenderTheSouthernRaiders The Southern Raiders]]", after greeting Suki in a robe, under candlelight, a rose in his mouth, Sokka is seen wearing a flower necklace -- [[spoiler:he got lei'd, and Suki got deflowered]].
** In "[[Recap/AvatarTheLastAirbenderTheEmberIslandPlayers The Ember Island Players]]", a bad in-universe reenactment of the series thus far, the audience starts falling asleep during the sequence with the drill. It's ''boring''.
** An episode of ''WesternAnimation/TheLegendOfKorra'', the Waterbender twins Desna and Eska cover their boots in frozen water to slide down a mountainside. That's right, they made [[spoiler:ice skates]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TheBackyardigans'':
** Austin's fur color -- he starts out as a ShrinkingViolet.
** In the episode "Mission to Mars", Austin controls a Mars Rover named Rover -- there used to be a British car manufacturer named Austin Rover.
* ''WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyond'':
** In "[[Recap/BatmanBeyondS2E22AprilMoon April Moon]]", a villain whose wrists and knees have been replaced with chainsaws cuts open a door. He cuts the door three times -- two form a cross, and the third is a diagonal inward slash beneath the cross -- the Japanese symbol for "Saw".
** In "[[Recap/BatmanBeyondS2E19SneakPeek Sneak Peek]]", Ian Peek [[WhatTheHellIsThatAccent speaks with an ostensibly British accent that sounds vaguely Australian]], which, if it is the latter, leads to a truly twisted pun about his fate: [[spoiler:thanks to his [[PhlebotinumBreakdown malfunctioning]] {{intangibility}}, [[FateWorseThanDeath he's heading to the]] LandDownUnder]].
* ''WesternAnimation/BatmanTheBraveAndTheBold'': In "Deep Cover for Batman", Batman thinks he may have found an ally in The Scarlet Scarab based on a conversation he heard, but it turns out to just provide misdirection, meaning that the ''Scarlet'' Scarab was a RedHerring.
* ''WesternAnimation/BeavisAndButthead'' actually subverted this once. They find an injured bird, nurse it back to health, and Butthead sends it on its way by flipping it into the air. Beavis then takes the stealth out of the pun by telling him [[spoiler:"Hey, Butthead. You flipped the bird."]]
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Beetlejuice}}'': The episode "A Dandy Handy Man" has a rather ludicrous hidden MultipleReferencePun: An AnimateInanimateObject monkey wrench acts as a "monkey wrench in the works" to Beetlejuice... by acting like a MischiefMakingMonkey.
* Late in the third season of ''WesternAnimation/{{Ben 10}}'', Ben's antagonists consisted largely of aliens that resembled Universal/Hammer horror monsters, and he gained the ability to become each of them. First was a werewolf, which he cleverly named [[Literature/{{Beowulf}} Benwolf]]. (Insert Gwendel joke here.) Next, a mummy, which was called Benmummy in the credits. The third villain, Dr. Vicktor, turned out to be a Frankenstein's Monster pastiche. The credits called the resulting transformation Benvicktor, avoiding the more obvious choice: [[spoiler:[[Creator/BenStein Benstein]]]].
* In the third season of ''WesternAnimation/Ben10AlienForce'', Kevin ends up [[ShapeshifterModeLock stuck]] in a composite form, with various body parts made out of various materials, from metal to crystal. In particular, everything from his groin down is made of [[spoiler:wood]].
* ''WesternAnimation/BigHero6TheSeries'':
** ''Recap/BigHero6TheSeriesS1E04FoodFight'': When Hiro wants to know what Aunt Cass is doing so late, she tells him there's nothing wrong with cutting loose every once a while ([[DontExplainTheJoke and she is indeed cutting loose, and chopping loose, various foods.]]) Also, when Hiro is about to deactivate the gravity device that's making everything [[NoGravityForYou float weightlessly]], he warns everyone that things are about to get '[[LiteralMetaphor heavy]]'.
* In an episode of ''WesternAnimation/{{Birdz}}'', Morty Storkowitz remarks that he went to school with a peacock who [[Creator/{{NBC}} went into television]].
* On ''WesternAnimation/BobsBurgers'', Linda and Gale help Gene write a song about gravy -- "It's a gravy boat, not a navy boat..." They end up rolling with the latter idea and singing about "[[spoiler:sailors]] in your mouth." [[spoiler:(Why, what were ''you'' expecting?)]]
* In ''WesternAnimation/BojackHorseman'', one recurring background character is a Corgi in a sweater. In other words, she's a [[spoiler: [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardigan_Welsh_Corgi Cardigan Welsh Corgi]]]].
* [[GenkiGirl Maggie]] the housefly's older brother in ''WesternAnimation/TheBuzzOnMaggie'' is named Aldrin... for "Buzz" Aldrin.
* ''WesternAnimation/ChallengeOfTheGoBots'' features the ambitious warmonger and Renegade leader Cy-Kill, who suffers from a fairly obvious PunnyName already because he transforms into a motorcycle. What's never outright stated is that his brutal methods constantly escalating the Guardian-Renegade civil war means that he is literally [[spoiler:a vicious cycle]].
* In ''WesternAnimation/ChipNDaleRescueRangers'', the TeamPet is a fly named Zipper. The fact that this is a pun is never brought up.
* In the ''[[Film/{{Descendants}} Descendants: Wicked World]]'' episode "Pair of Sneakers", Mal and Freddie Facilier are searching [[WesternAnimation/ThePrincessAndTheFrog Dr. Facilier's]] shop for a jewel that belonged to Maleficent. One of the places they search is in a mobile hanging from the ceiling with bat-shaped figures on it. In other words, it's a [[spoiler: [[ComicBook/{{Batman}} bat mobile.]]]]
* The WesternAnimation/{{Classic Disney Short|s}} "WesternAnimation/PlutosJudgementDay", which is about WesternAnimation/{{Pluto|ThePup}} imagining himself going to hell after being scolded by WesternAnimation/MickeyMouse for chasing a cat. Pluto is actually the name of the Roman god of the underworld, as well as [[PlutoIsExpendable the former ninth planet]] in which the dog got his name from.
* Sise (pronounced "''size''") Fromm of ''WesternAnimation/{{Droids}}'' is a FatBastard.
* ''WesternAnimation/DuckTales2017'':
** In "Day Trip of Doom!", Huey, Dewey, Louie, and Webby are playing with dart guns, and Webby gets really into it. She spins an elaborate {{Backstory}} for her character in their game, a gruff black operative bent on avenging her men who were “captured in Peking”. [[spoiler: Peking ducks are a breed of duck bred to be cooked.]]
** When using the Barksian modulator in the season 1 finale, Donald Duck is voiced by Creator/DonCheadle, who plays War Machine, one of the Avengers, in the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse. This makes Donald a [[ComicBook/PaperinikNewAdventures Duck Avenger]].
** In "Last Christmas!", Beakley (a retired spy) is shown perusing the Ghost of Christmas Future, who resembles TheGrimReaper. Clearly, she flirts with death.
* Done ever so discreetly in ''WesternAnimation/EdEddNEddy'' during the episode "The Eds Are Coming". Once Ed emerges from the radiant goo, Kevin has a soapbox moment upon a soap box--as is the origin of the phrase.
* One that requires a little bit of backstory occurs in [[WesternAnimation/EekTheCat Eek! the Cat]]. Eek's girlfriend was a pink cat named Annabelle. A running gag in the show was that she was the largest character in the show, and everyone but Eek noticed. This was a bit unlike her original voice actress, who had at one time been an actress, [[{{Music/Whitesnake}} music video girl]], and general sex symbol. So there's some irony there, sure, but plenty of people play characters that they have nothing in common with. Only people who read the credits get this joke's punchline: simply put, Annabelle was a fat cat, but her voice actress was played by a [[{{Music/Whitesnake}} Tawny]] Kitaen.
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheFairlyOddParents'':
** The segment "Dread and Breakfast" has a cameo by two Shaggy and Scooby-Doo lookalikes. Not-Shaggy refers to Not-Scooby as "Doob", which would probably make "Doob"'s name [[spoiler:[[TheStoner Doobie]].]]
** Timmy's fairies are usually disguised as goldfish, so Timmy has [[spoiler: Film/AFishCalledWanda.]]
** In one episode, where Jay Leno is interviewing pop star [[Music/BritneySpears Britney Britney]], he says that he feels the same way about her as he does asparagus. As in, both of them being spears.
* ''WesternAnimation/FamilyGuy'':
** In "Holy Crap", [[StrawAtheist Brian]] and [[TheFundamentalist Francis]] get into an argument about God that ends with Francis beating Brian with the Holy Bible. [[spoiler: He's a literal Bible-thumper.]]
** In "Road to the Multiverse", Stewie and Brian go to a Disney universe, and this universe's Joe is a coffee pot. Joe. Coffee.
** In "Model Misbehavior", Lois becomes a model and walks into the Drunken Clam dressed up. After all the guys make (incredibly lame) puns about her, Joe tells her to take her jacket off. Eventually, all the guys in the bar are shouting a chorus of "jacket off, jacket off". Or, if you listen to it correctly, [[spoiler:jack it off]].
** In the episode, "Grimm Job", Peter, in a parody of Literature/JackAndTheBeanstalk, picks up a newspaper and reads, "Mary Davis gives birth to... lamb?!" In other words: [[spoiler: Mary had a little lamb.]]
** An excellent one in "Road to Germany". The nazi scientists displays their impressive collection of [[ThoseWackyNazis "Wan hundred luftballoons"]]. [[Music/{{Nena}} Then one goes pop.]]
* In ''WesternAnimation/FilmationsGhostbusters'', the TeamPet of the group is a little pink bat named Belfry. His name is based on the saying [[spoiler:"To have bats in the belfry", meaning "To be a bit crazy"]].
** Also, Jessica Wray is the fiancée of ghostbuster Jake Kong. Wray... Kong... does it [[Film/KingKong1933 ring a bell]]?
* A lot of the names in ''WesternAnimation/FostersHomeForImaginaryFriends'' are puns, especially when combined with other characters' names. For instance: Blooregard Q. Kazoo, thus Bloo Q. Kazoo [[spoiler:kukukachu]].
* The Central Bureaucracy of ''WesternAnimation/{{Futurama}}'' has a giant Rubik's cube made out of Rubik's cubes made out of offices. [[spoiler:I call it the Rubik's Cubicle]].
* In the [[WesternAnimation/GeneratorRex Generator Rex]] episode "Frostbite", the group takes a trip to a remote base called Paradise, which was destroyed by the end of the episode by an E.V.O. In other words, [[Literature/ParadiseLost Paradise was lost]].
* ''WesternAnimation/GravityFalls'' :
** In "Headhunters", at one point, when Dipper and Mabel are in a biker-bar-type establishment, they pass by a man with a [[http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m7uxj6vwAb1qciqjmo1_500.png cat drawn on one palm]]. Said fellow is hitting it with his other hand, so you could say that he's [[spoiler:pounding pussy]].
** In "Double Dipper," check out the dance move Dipper performs on Wendy in his {{Imagine Spot}}: He's ''dipping'' her.
** When L'il Gideon, a child psychic, [[spoiler:was thrown in prison]] at the end of Season 1, some fans suggested that it was a setup for the classic punchline [[spoiler:"small medium at large" when he inevitably broke out. Which he did, near the end of Season 2.]]
** In "Weirdmageddon", Bill Cipher decides that instead of accepting Preston Northwest as one of his new minions, he's just going to [[FacialHorror "shuffle the functions of every hole in your face"]]. In other words, he [[LiteralMetaphor rearranged Preston's face]].
* ''WesternAnimation/HarleyQuinn'': The season three episode "The Horse and the Sparrow" has [[ShowWithinAShow an universe movie]] about the deaths of Thomas and Martha Wayne where during his death scene, Thomas tells young Bruce "the story of the horse and the sparrow," which is about how some of the oats that a horse eats pass through it and get eaten by the sparrow with the urging for Bruce to be that horse. In other words, supply-side economics AKA trickle-down is ''literally horseshit''.
* ''WesternAnimation/HarveyBeaks'' has Bartleburt, a ghost stump librarian. It's very fitting, seeing how he's [[spoiler: a dead tree]].
* ''WesternAnimation/HerculesTheAnimatedSeries'' has one in "Hercules and the Poseidon's Cup Adventure." A pair of athletic shoes that Adonis wants to give Hercules as a bribe for joining his crew were "designed by the goddess of victory herself." The goddess of victory is ''Nike''.
* In ''WesternAnimation/JimmyTwoShoes'', [[{{Satan}} Lucius Heinous I-VI]] have all been [[HumanPopsicle frozen alive]] by their sons. So basically, {{Hell}} freezes over.
* In the ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeague'' episode "The Terror Beyond", Hawkgirl [[DefiantToTheEnd taunts Icthultu]] when he wishes to speak to her: "Nothing to say! I have a ''gesture'' for you, but my hands are tied." That's right, Hawkgirl wants to flip him the bird.
** In the episode "The Balance" Franchise/WonderWoman receives a message from Zeus saying "By Decree of Zeus Father of Olympus it is so ordered: Diana of Themyscira will travel to Tartarus and set right that which has been disturbed." She starts to respond with "He's telling me to go to..." but is interrupted by Hermes saying "Basically".
** The "fire at will" pun is used when [[WesternAnimation/BatmanBeyond Terry]] (voiced by Creator/WillFriedle) showed up in "The Once and Future Thing".
** And in "Epilogue", the team is up against another team called the Royal Flush Gang, who Ace gave powers to. One of them is wearing kabuki make-up, with a top knot and swinging a katana. By process of elimination, he's the [[WesternAnimation/SamuraiJack Jack]], and when depowered happens to look like Creator/PhilLaMarr. Ten looks like Creator/BoDerek did in the film ''Film/Ten1979'', Queen is a transformed guy (drag queen), and King looks like Jack "King" Kirby.
** In the ''Unlimited'' episode "Panic In The Sky", there's a stealth pun allusion to Galatea being the DCAU expy of ComicBook/PowerGirl when Supergirl defeats her by (fatally?) electrocuting her with a power cable.
** Doubling as a MythologyGag, in the episode "Hawk and Dove" Wonder Woman teams up with the titular duo to defeat Ares from instigating a war between two countries. [[spoiler: They are only able to defeat him by convincing both sides not to fight.]] So in other words, Wonder Woman [[spoiler: [[Series/WonderWoman made a Hawk and Dove stop a war with love.]]]]
* In ''WesternAnimation/JusticeLeagueGodsAndMonsters'', Superman was found by a family of undocumented migrant workers instead of the Kents. In other words, Superman is an illegal alien.
* ''WesternAnimation/{{Kaeloo}}'':
** In Episode 18, Kaeloo gets mad at Mr. Cat for [[spoiler:robbing a supermarket]] and winds up HulkingOut. After this, she starts biting him repeatedly offscreen. She's "chewing him out".
** The non-anthropomorphic sheep who appear in the show believe everything that Mr. Cat tells them. They're not only literal sheep, but they're also "sheep", as in they're easily influenced.
** In Episode 83, Mr. Cat decides to lie to Quack Quack to ruin his relationship with Eugly, and he slithers onto the couch on his belly instead of walking towards it. He was being a ''literal'' snake.
** One episode shows Quack Quack and Eugly playing badminton with Olaf as the birdie. Olaf is a penguin, making him a literal "birdie".
* In ''WesternAnimation/KimPossible'', when we are first introduced to Team Go, Ron asks why Mego wears a purple costume. Team leader Hego replies, "He's a shrinker," and drops the subject. He's a shrinking violet (but not a ShrinkingViolet, mind you); Warner/DC would not be amused.
** Mego's power is to shrink to the size of an action figure. He shares his name with a popular line of action figures from the 1970s and 1980s, including the unintuitive pronunciation.
** When we are originally introduced to Team Go, they are introduced as "Hego, Shego, Mego, and The Twins." The implication is that the twins are collectively "Wego".
** In "Big Bother", Ron is conflicted between his school assignment bag of flour and his new sister Hana (which is Japanese for flower).
** Was Mrs. Possible channeling Jill Valentine in "Day of the Snowmen"?
*** 'Grah! They know I have excessive power demands!'
** "Cute little trap, Professor."
* ''WesternAnimation/LittlestPetShop2012'':
** One of the ImagineSpot songs has Pepper Clark [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr_Pepper dressed up as a doctor]] for a doctor-themed 1980s-style jam.
** The episode "Gailbreak!" involves an attempt to break Zoe's sister (also a dog, of course) out of Largest Ever Pet Shop's day camp. [[spoiler:It turns out that it wasn't Gail at all, making the episode a ShaggyDogStory.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/LooneyTunes''
** In "WesternAnimation/AGruesomeTwosome", two alley cats try to fool Tweety by [[PantomimeAnimal wearing a horse costume]]. The one in front reveals himself and tells us, "I'm the horse's head!" The one in back says nothing, but is clearly [[spoiler: the horse's ass.]]
** "WesternAnimation/BuckarooBugs" has Bugs as a messenger asking which of the two characters lying dazed on the ground is Red Hot Ryder. Red points to his horse's ass before pointing to himself. "WesternAnimation/ScrapHappyDaffy" does a similar gag, with Daffy pointing at a horse's ass and exclaiming, "How do ya like that, Schickelgrüber?"
** ''WesternAnimation/BaseballBugs'' has one that doubles as a VisualPun -- the "screaming line drive."
* There were two instances of a Griffin named Merv who had a talk show in cartoons:
** The first was in "Hamelot," a ComicStrip/USAcres segment of ''WesternAnimation/GarfieldAndFriends'', where Merv was voiced by Creator/FrankWelker, and he was interviewing the farm cast (who were imagined as knights).
** The second was in Disney's ''WesternAnimation/HerculesTheAnimatedSeries'', where Creator/MervGriffin ''himself'' played his animated, mythological counterpart as he interviewed Herc. A CastingGag that went into ParentalBonus and ''literal'' MythologyGag perhaps?
* ''{{WesternAnimation/Metalocalypse}}'' shouts out to a lot of metal bands by naming people and places after them, but the episode "Dethtroll" has an especially stealthy example. The band inadvertently wake a troll sleeping in a lake by playing an ancient Finnish song. So it was a {{Music/Finntroll}}.
* ''WesternAnimation/MrPuzzlesWantsYouToBeLessAlive'' features the unanswered riddle "Which house turns into a hostel on a fully [sic] moon?" The answer would presumably be "[[FunWithHomophones warehouse/werehouse]]".
* The plot of the [[WesternAnimation/MoralOrel Moral Orel]] episode "Grounded" revolves around Orel electrocuting himself.
* ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagic'':
** In the first episode, "The Mare in the Moon", we can see that Twilight Sparkle (who is more interested in her studies than in making friends) makes her home in a tall, off-white structure (i.e. an ''ivory tower'').
** One of the stealthiest is Twilight's own name. [[Literature/TheTwilightSaga "Twilight... Sparkle"]].
*** And [[WordOfGod to top it off]], when Creator/LaurenFaust was [[http://comments.deviantart.com/4/1603670/2216411631 asked]] if the name was an intentional joke, her [[http://comments.deviantart.com/4/1603670/2216416237 response]] was "It passed legal."
** When Nightmare Moon was imprisoned in the moon, she appeared as a large dark spot on the moon's surface, and is referred to as The Mare in the Moon. A dark spot on the moon is known as a sea, or in Latin, ''mare.''[[note]]Yes, everypony knows it's pronounced differently, but still.[[/note]]
** There's also the more obvious pun behind her name where she's a mare who controls the night, making her literally a Night''mare''.
** The Wonderbolts are heavily based off of the Blue Angels (and other aerobatics teams), and utilize a winged thunderbolt as their logo. The dark-mirror Shadowbolts used, as their uniform Cutie Mark, a winged ''skull''. A winged skull logo was also used, at one time, by the ''Hell's'' Angels. Subtle, but very clever.
** In "The Ticket Master", when Rarity is ranting about how her fashion will allow her and Twilight to impress all the Canterlot elite at the Grand Galloping Gala, she has literal [[WingdingEyes stars in her eyes]].
** The two male ponies, Snips and Snails, are a pun based on the old adage that girls are made of "sugar and spice and everything nice," while boys are made of "snips and snails and puppy dog tails." Given this show's status as a kids' show, it's probably unlikely that we'll see a boy pony named "Puppy Dog Tails," but the other two can work as names in a fictitious environment.
** Pipsqueak is a British pony with a spotted coat, making him seem like a [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Spotted_Pony British Spotted Pony]] (though WordOfGod is that he's a [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pinto_horse pinto]]).
** In "Swarm of the Century", Pinkie Pie eventually leads [[TheSwarm the town-destroying parasprites]] out of Ponyville with music. Making her the Pinkie Pied Piper.
** Not very stealthy, but Twilight Sparkle really hopes the legend of Nightmare Moon is just an old 'pony tale'.
** In the beginning of "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E6BoastBusters Boast Busters]]", Twilight's magic abilities are referred to as "tricks," and Spike mentions that most unicorns can only do a small amount of magic related to their profession. Which, one might say, makes them "one-trick ponies."
*** And the other magically skilled pony in the episode is named Trixie. Tricks-y.\
The name "Trixie" is a diminutive of 'Beatrix', meaning 'voyager, traveller', and Trixie is a travelling performer.
** "You're like the queen of stares!" "You're the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stairmaster Stare Master!]]"
** In "Green Isn't Your Color", when Fluttershy is being chased around by paparazzi, one of them is a pegasus with a dollar sign as his cutie mark. Given pony naming conventions, this means his name is probably ''Money Shot''.
** Applejack's story in "[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E23TheCutieMarkChronicles The Cutie Mark Chronicles]]" details her attempt to move to the city to live with her Aunt and Uncle Orange. The CityMouse[=/=]CountryMouse plot is played completely straight, revealing to Applejack that she's nothing like the city folk. It's like comparing Apples and Oranges.
*** Similarly, she says "I'm so hungry, I could eat..."
** In [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS1E16SonicRainboom "Sonic Rainboom"]], Pinkie Pie decides to [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skittles_(confectionery) "taste the rainbow"]] but finds it not to her liking.
** In "Sonic Rainboom", Rainbow Dash pulls off the Sonic Rainboom and wins the Young Fliers' Competition with it. One might say she ''passed with flying colors''.
** "The book said when the five are present, a ''spark'' will cause the sixth element to be revealed." Spark or Sparkle?
---> '''Nightmare Moon:''' The spark didn't work!\
'''Twilight Sparkle:''' But it did. A different ''kind'' of spark.
** When defeating Discord, the mane six literally form a "double rainbow".
** Rarity is a pony who designs clothes. She's a ''clotheshorse''.
** Rarity owns a female cat named Opal, which is a type of gemstone. In "Return of Harmony", Rarity [[spoiler: brings home a large "diamond" named Tom]].
** In "Feeling Pinkie Keen", Twilight stops to stand on a crate and lecture Pinkie about why she has a hard time believing in the latter's "Pinkie Sense". Said crate originally had some bars and bottles of soap on it, which means Twilight ''literally'' got on a soap box.
** In "Lesson Zero", Twilight Sparkle shows the Cutie Mark Crusaders her toy, Smarty Pants, who comes with accessories such as homework. It also appears to be some kind of donkey, making it a [[ParentalBonus smart ass]].
** In "Over a Barrel", we see a train pulled by several ponies. We just saw the pony express.
** In "A Friend In Deed," Pinkie parodies a few lines from the song "Yankee Doodle Boy" (a.k.a. "Yankee Doodle ''Dandy''"). In the musical that popularized the song, the "Yankee Doodle Dandy" was a horse jockey.
*** The song also borrows lyrics from the folk song that inspired it, "Yankee Doodle." What did Yankee Doodle come to town riding on, again?
** "Oh, horse apples!" is a double pun - "horse apples" is a nickname for the fruit of [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maclura_pomifera the Osage orange tree]] and [[ToiletHumor a slang term for horse dung]].
** In "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000", Pinkie and friends hold a TicketLineCampout to be the first to get that season's Sweet Apple Acres cider...in other words, camping in line waiting for the yearly new Apple products.
*** From the same episode, who ever makes the most cider wins Sweet Apple Acres. Meaning that the Apple family ''bet the farm'' that they would win.
** The plot of [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS2E24MysteryOnTheFriendshipExpress MMMystery on the Friendship Express]] involves [[PinkertonDetective detective work by someone who happens to be pink.]]
** In "Sweet and Elite", when talking to Fancypants, after having mentioned staying at the princess' castle, she places Opalescence into one of her carrier-bags. Why? Because she let the cat out of the bag. (Admittedly not the same bag, but still).
** In "Secret of My Excess":
*** Spike goes on a greedy rampage through Ponyville. Part of that includes going to Sugarcube Corner and stealing all the cakes. Pinkie Pie immediately calls out, "How dare you take the cake!" This is a subtle reference to the phrase "taking the cake."
*** In the same episode, Spike's gigantic pile of wildly assorted presents includes a kitchen sink.
*** When the Wonderbolts are maneuvering around grown Spike, at one point they cut through his head barbs, with only a short bit that looks like a soldier's haircut remaining. That's because they {{buzz|ingTheDeck}}ed him.
** In "Read It and Weep", a hospitalized pony with a crazed expression and strait-jacket vocalizes like a dog - making her barking mad. Also, the fact that her cutie mark is a screw makes much more sense when you consider that she's literally screw loose.
** The day after "A Canterlot Wedding" -- in which Princess Cadance (sic) [[spoiler:is revealed to be a {{vil|eVillainSaccharineShow}}lain in disguise]] -- aired, a music geek discovered that one of the songs[[labelnote:*]](Namely, "BBBFF", ''not'' the VillainSong as is often circulated)[[/labelnote]] contains a chord progression known as a [[http://www.reddit.com/r/mylittlepony/comments/sm22p/a_spoiler_in_the_song/ known as a]] UsefulNotes/DeceptiveCadence. And then the song's composer [[http://twitter.com/#!/dannyimusic/status/193926339043147777 confirmed via Twitter]] that it was totally intentional.
** A bit of a FridgeBrilliance pun involving the princesses: Prior to the Season 2 finale, a lot of people wondered what Cadence's purpose was. Celestia and Luna basically run the sun and moon, respectively, but Cadence doesn't have any duty of that nature. Then the episode revealed that [[http://images.wikia.com/random-ness/images/8/83/My-little-pony-friendship-is-magic-brony-you-know-its-true.gif she was Twilight's foalsitter...]]
*** Also, she has love powers, and you know what they say... [[spoiler:love makes the world go 'round]].
** There's a point in [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS3E8JustForSidekicks "Just For Sidekicks"]] when Rainbow Dash's tortoise Tank is spinning on his back. Would you call him a [[spoiler:Tank top]]?
** In "Magical Mystery Cure," the song "What My Cutie Mark Is Telling Me" details results of the [[InAnotherMansShoes cutie mark swap]]. There's very distinctive transitions between stanzas, which appear in jazz and musicals. [[spoiler: It's known as a turnaround, which can also mean 'the reversal of a situation or circumstances'.]]
** In "Rarity Takes Manehattan", she may not have been expecting it, but of course it was by a fashion designer that she was [[spoiler:taken in]].
** In ''[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E25TwilightsKingdomPart1 Twilights Kingdom Part 1]]'', Discord appears in a FourStarBadass costume. You could say he's... ''General Chaos''.
** In ''[[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS4E26TwilightsKingdomPart2 Twilight's Kingdom Part 2]]''
*** When electricity crackles around Twilight, you might say that Twilight is ''[[Literature/TheTwilightSaga sparkling]]''
*** Rainbow Powered!Applejack has red cheeks as if blushing. You could say she's "apple-cheeked"
*** [[DraggedOffToHell Tirek is sent back to Tartarus]] by a WaveMotionGun, you could say he was literally blasted to Hell.
** A cutie mark is the essence of who a pony is. So when Starlight Glimmer steals them from the Mane Six in [[Recap/MyLittlePonyFriendshipIsMagicS5E1TheCutieMapPart1 the season 5 opener]], she's committing [[spoiler:identity theft.]]
** When Cheese Sandwich first appears, he's dressed as Clint Eastwood's character from the Film/DollarsTrilogy, which would make him [[spoiler:[[Music/{{America}} A Horse With No Name]].]] And as he was in sandy Appleloosa when the episode started, he has, in fact [[spoiler:been through the desert.]]
*** Another one for Cheese Sandwich: He's voiced by Music/WeirdAlYankovic, known for his parodies of songs. He also has many similarities to Pinkie Pie, including a food-related name (Pie, Cheese Sandwich), a mute animal sidekick (Boneless the rubber chicken, compared to Pinkie's Gummy the alligator), a "Cheesy Sense" (whereas Pinkie has a "Pinkie Sense"), and is a party planner, among other similarities. In essence, Cheese Sandwich is a ''parody'' of Pinkie Pie.
** And of course, waaaay back in G1, every female pony wore a bow on the base of their tail. In other words, every pony tail was also ''a ponytail.''
** A very meta example: It should be noted that the Dazzlings from ''[[WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirlsRainbowRocks Rainbow Rocks]]'' are [[OurSirensAreDifferent Sirens]]. When asked about their origins, WordOfGod [[https://twitter.com/stitchkingdom/status/492751813729210368 mentioned]] that "[Twilight] [[ShipSinking does not date them]]."
** In "Keep Calm and Flutter On", Fluttershy scolds a beaver for his language. While the beaver is TheUnintelligible, it seems a fair bet that the problem word was [[spoiler:dam(n)]].
** In "The Hooffields and [=McColts=]", the latter of the titular warring clans is presented as a family of skilled carpenters and woodsmiths. [[spoiler: Sawhorses.]]
** In the season 5 finale "The Cutie Re-Mark", Twilight and Spike discover Starlight sitting on Fluttershy's throne. [[spoiler: She's about to initiate [[ButterflyOfDoom the Butterfly Effect]].]]
** The epsidoe "It Ain't Easy Being Breezies" features tiny, fairylike equines who have transparent insect/butterfly wings. The fact you could therefore call them [[spoiler: horse flies]] goes unacknowledged.
** Sunset Shimmer from the ''Equestria Girls'' has a sun as her cutie mark, and is the former student of the sun goddess Celestia who left years ago and returns and reunites with her old mentor in ''Forgotten Friendship''. She's a ''Prodigal Sun''.
* In the ''WesternAnimation/OneHundredAndOneDalmatianStreet'' Episode; "D-Factor", Dylan gets paint dunked on him, causing him to snap. Many will quickly pick up on this being a Homage to "''{{Literature/Carrie}}''", but the Homage continues when Dylan begins making quips about those laughing at him; or, in other words, he "burns" them.
* ''WesternAnimation/OneHundredAndOneDalmatiansTheSeries'': During one of the group's attempts to break up Cadpig and Mooch in "My Fair Moochie", Lucky sets up a bogus ring toss booth while dressed as an old-timey boardwalk ''bark''er.
* In Chapter 2 of ''WesternAnimation/OverTheGardenWall'', Wirt and Greg find themselves in trouble when they run through a pumpkin field and accidentally ruin some of the crop. Basically, they were [[spoiler:[[Music/TheSmashingPumpkins Smashing Pumpkins]]]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TheOwlHouse'':
** "Wing it like Witches" has two of these regarding Amity:
*** When Amity initially turns down the offer to play Grudgby with the others and instead [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere takes off running]] after [[CovertPervert openly fantasizing about Luz]], [[ObliviousToLove Luz]] innocently comments "Well I guess she’s [[TransparentCloset out.]]"
*** Amity tells a backstory about Grudgby and how she left the sport, which ends with her falling on her ''back''.
** "Knock, Knock, Knockin' on Hooty's Door" also has two:
*** Eda comes to an understanding with the Owl Beast after confronting her past in her dreams. She quite literally made peace with her inner demon.
*** [[spoiler:Luz and Amity's RelationshipUpgrade (the first explicit same-sex couple featuring a main character in a Disney cartoon, let alone one that gets together long before the show's finale)]] takes place in a giant heart that Hooty tore into the earth. In other words, it's groundbreaking.
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePenguinsOfMadagascar'' episode "Jiggles" features a gelatinous cube which only eats fruit. It then proceeds to absorb the AmbiguouslyGay King Julien.
** At the end of the episode "Out of the Groove" there's a debate about MagicVersusScience, and Kowalski firmly believes in science. He also spends the first five minutes of the episode with his head stuck in a glass beaker.
* In ''WesternAnimation/PhineasAndFerb:''
** In "It's About Time", the man who (tried to) invent TimeTravel was Xavier Onassis. Say it slowly...[[spoiler:"Save your own asses".]]
** They boys begin their search for [[StockNessMonster the title creature]] in "The Lake Nose Monster" by following a literal RedHerring.
** In "Candace Gets Busted", the [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Go-Away-Inator]] zaps all of Candace's uninvited party guests to an undesirable location -- Doofenshmirtz's pants. And they're all still dancing. [[spoiler: In other words, he had a [[DoubleEntendre party in his pants.]]]]
** In "She's the Mayor", the two golf caddies are [[Music/KatyPerry Katy and Perry]].
** In "The Wizard of Odd", Candace reasons that her brothers are behind her sudden trip to Oz. Sure enough, Phineas and Ferb reveal themselves from behind the backdrop. Candace proceeds to ignore every attempt by her brothers to interact with her as she makes her way to Bustopolis, paying no attention to the men (well, boys) behind the curtain.
** "Summer Belongs To You" introduces Baljeet's uncle who runs a factory in the Himalayas that makes rubber bands and balls. It's never said outright, but he's literally making [[spoiler:India rubber.]]
** The show's creators have openly admitted to reading this very site, and a handful of these refer to trope pages. For example, in one {{Elseworld}} episode, [[spoiler:Isabella carries around business cards of various archetypes -- TheIngenue, [[AdventurerArchaeologist Amateur Archaeologist]], DamselInDistress, et cetera. The last one she gives reads "Dirty Double Crosser"]], making her a literal CardCarryingVillain.
** In "Meet Max Modem", Doofenshmirtz makes his (attempt at a) big speech standing on a literal soap box.
** At one point during "Escape from Phineas Tower", Phineas uses a bone to unlock a set of chains. In other words, [[spoiler:a skeleton key]].
** In "La Candace-Cabra", Buford dresses up as a goat to bait the creature; [[spoiler:he's a bully goat.]]
** In the HalloweenEpisode "Terrifying Tri-State Trilogy of Terror", [[BollywoodNerd Baljeet]] introduces his friends to his life coach, a {{cowboy}} named Rusty Britches. Get it? [[spoiler: Cowboys and Indians.]]
* In the ''WesternAnimation/PinkyAndTheBrain'' episode "It's Only a Paper World," the title characters attempt to TakeOverTheWorld by building a life-sized replica of the planet Earth out of paper-mâché and luring the population onto it so they can rule the real Earth without interference. All the music in the episode is based on themes from Dvorak's Symphony No. 9: [[spoiler:otherwise known as the New World symphony]].
** Similarly, an episode dealing with the art world used themes from Mussorgsky's [[spoiler:Pictures At An Exhibition]].
* ''WesternAnimation/ThePowerpuffGirls'':
** The full name of the Mayor's assistant Ms. Bellum is not often heard, but it's Sara. As in Sara Bellum.
** Him, a kid-friendly CaptainErsatz version of {{Satan}}, dresses like [[RougeAnglesOfSatin Santa Claus]]. He also has claws. This is never commented on directly.
** The septic truck in "Down N' Dirty" [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/_Dirty.jpg is full of it.]]
* In ''WesternAnimation/RecessTakingTheFifthGrade'', Spinelli tells [[{{Jerkass}} Becky]] that she hopes her classes are at obedience school. That is to say, she was calling her [[spoiler:a bitch]].
* The ''WesternAnimation/RegularShow'' episode "Access Denied" has Mordecai and Rigby trying to get into a club called "The Box". They get into the club by [[spoiler:thinking outside The Box.]]
* One scene in ''WesternAnimation/RobbieTheReindeer: Hooves of Fire'' has a singing seal… voiced by singer Seal.
* ''WesternAnimation/RobotChicken'' once had a shot of [[Series/DoctorWho the Fourth Doctor]] standing on the first base of a baseball diamond. After waiting a second, the Doctor says "[[WhosOnFirst Do ya get it?]]"
* In the [[WesternAnimation/RockosModernLife Rocko's Modern Life]] episode "Camera Shy", Rocko is shown literally '''nude descending a staircase'''. The only hint that this is a pun on the abstract painting ''Nude Descending A Staircase'' is when Heffer uses the word "descending" in a sentence.
* In RealLife, early computers had names like ENIAC, EDVAC, and UNIVAC. In the ''WesternAnimation/RockyAndBullwinkle'' side feature, "Peabody's Improbable History", the time machine is called the WABAC ('cause they go "way back" in time).
** Speaking of ''Rocky and Bullwinkle'', Boris Badenov's name was an allusion to Pushkin's play ''Boris Godunov''. The name is lampshaded in one story arc's next-episode titles: "Don't Make It Worse, It's Badenov."
* In Hanna-Barbera's 1972 show ''WesternAnimation/TheRomanHolidays'', the family son is named Happius, or Happy for short.
* In the ''WesternAnimation/{{Rugrats}}'' episode "Vacation", Chuckie can be seen running on a roulette wheel. In other words, [[spoiler:it's rushing roulette.]]
** Tommy and Dil Pickles' mother Didi [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Rugrats_characters#Adult_characters is Jewish]], making the children kosher Pickles.
* ''WesternAnimation/ScoobyDooMysteryIncorporated'' shows that the characters are divided as a result of their relationship issues. This would seem to imply that the gang is [[LetsSplitUpGang splitting up.]]
** In "Horror of the Hodag", Shaggy feels neglected because Scooby found a girl dog named Nova that he likes--much the same as he had done to Scooby when he was dating Velma. When he tells Velma this, she comments that "Payback, thy name is Nova." In other words, [[spoiler:payback is a bitch.]]
** And let's not forget "Mr. E".
* ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons''
** The traffic guy for Channel 6 News, Arnie Pie, who ''very deliberately'' avoids the painfully obvious pun on his name; his segment, live from the traffic chopper, is called "Arnie in the Sky".
** In "Krusty Gets Kancelled", Krusty mentioned that he and Creator/BetteMidler once owned a horse together, and named it "Krudler". For those who didn't get it, the more appropriate name is revealed in the DVDCommentary of the episode: [[spoiler:Misty]].
** In "E-I-E-I-(Annoyed Grunt)", Homer goes to a shop called "Sneed's Feed & Seed (Formerly Chuck's)".
** In the episode "'Sideshow Bob Roberts", the character playing the role of "Deep Throat" is [[TransparentCloset Mr. Smithers]].
** The "Flaming Moe" drink, formerly known as the "Flaming Homer". The names bear similarities to "'mo" and "homo" respectively, both contractions of "homosexual".
** "Hurricane Neddy" does a DuckSeasonRabbitSeason joke. Ned Flanders watches a film of his younger, aggressive, hyperactive self:
-->'''Young Ned:''' "I'm ComicStrip/DickTracy! Take that, Pruneface! Now I'm Pruneface. Take that, Dick Tracy! Now I'm Prune Tracy. Take that--" (''[[CurseCutShort is physically subdued]]'')
** In [[Recap/TheSimpsonsS18E20StopOrMyDogWillShoot another episode]], Homer gets lost in a corn field, and the family sends the dog to help. The music that plays is [[spoiler:"Freak on a Leash" by Music/{{Korn}}]].
** In "Wedding for Disaster," Homer is kidnapped and chained up in a cell. When his kidnappers return him back home out of guilt, he still has a chain on him. Marge tells him that they should take that chain off him, to which he responds, "Won't it just dry up after a while and fall off in the bath?" [[spoiler:Such is what typically happens to a ''bandage'', not ''bondage'']].
** In the first season episode "The Crepes of Wrath":
--> '''Bart''' (watching his pet frog): Ah, the life of a frog. That's the life for me.\
''Marge enters the room and asks if Bart would like to go to France.''
** In the retelling of ''Literature/TheOdyssey'' from "Tales from the Public Domain", Odysseus (Homer) is told by Circe (Lindsey Naegle) that to return to Ithaca, he has to travel through Hades, crossing the river Styx. Cut to Homer sailing down the river as Music/{{Styx}}'s "Lady" plays with skeletons headbanging.
-->'''Homer:''' [[TakeThat Oh, it truly is Hell]]!
** In "Who Shot Mr. Burns: Part 1", [[SoundEffectBleep the church organ chord used to censor]] Homer's AtomicFBomb is an F minor chord.
** In "Simpson Tide", Milhouse confuses gypsies with vampires - a.k.a. Romani with Romanian.
* Surprisingly, ''WesternAnimation/TheSnorks'' was full of this. Allstar's pet octopus, Occy, goes berserk when he's called icky. As in the [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ichthyophthirius_multifiliis skin parasite]].
* ''WesternAnimation/SouthPark'':
** The head editor of the dictionary in "The F Word" is [[Series/{{Webster}} Emmanuel Lewis]].[[note]]"Webster's" is the name of a highly popular dictionary, and Emmanuel Lewis was famous for starring in a 1980s sitcom named ''Webster''.[[/note]]
** In "Tsst", Eric's egotistical behavior becomes too much for Mrs. Cartman to handle. When reality TV shows like ''Nanny 911'' and ''Series/SuperNanny'' fail to subdue him, it is Cesar Millan the Dog Whisperer who shows Cartman that not everyone is willing to put up with his crap. That's right, the episode implied that Cartman is a "son of a bitch".
** The character Butters' last name is "Stotch" making his name Butters Stotch (Butterscotch) but he is rarely, if ever, called by both (his real full name [[AerithAndBob "Leopold Stotch"]] even moreso). Usually, it's either first or last name only.
** "Raising the Bar": Creator/JamesCameron, director of 1997's ''Film/{{Titanic|1997}}'', ventures deep underwater to find and raise the mythical "bar", à la ''Literature/RaiseTheTitanic''.
** "The Problem With a Poo" is a DoubleMeaningTitle. It refers to how Mr. Hankey the Christmas Poo's reception in South Park gradually becomes soured, but it also refers to [[spoiler:the CrossoverPunchline with ''WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons'' at the very end of the episode, which indirectly references the infamous documentary, Creator/HariKondabolu's ''The Problem With Apu'']].
* In one episode of ''WesternAnimation/TheSpectacularSpiderMan'', Peter hears a radio informing everyone about an attack by Sandman at the harbor. Then it says: "Now for an oldie but a goodie by the Chordettes" before the next scene. One of the Chordettes' most famous songs? '''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDXT7wC9jrc Mr. Sandman]]'''.
** Also, Sandman is trying to steal The Urn of Morpheus.
* In the ''WesternAnimation/SpongebobSquarepants'' episode "Karate Island", one of the enemies is named "The Tickler". He also happens to be French. Making him... [[spoiler:a French Tickler]].
** In "Pranks A Lot", [=SpongeBob=] and Patrick use a can of invisible spray to disguise themselves as ghosts and scare many citizens of Bikini Bottom. The final guy who shouts out "Ghost!" in fear is shown sitting on the toilet. Get it?! [[spoiler:They scared the shit out of him!]]
** In ''The Chaperone,'' when Mr. Krabs suggests that Pearl take [=SpongeBob=] to the prom.
-->'''Pearl:''' The frycook?? Do you know what that'll do to my complexion? People will mistake me for a planetarium!\
'''Krabs:''' What do you mean?\
'''Pearl:''' I... don't know. [[note]](She'll have so many zits, she'll look like a star chart.)[[/note]]
** In "Hooky", fishing hooks are depicted as a [[GRatedDrug G-Rated Drug]]. You can "get hooked" on them.
* ''WesternAnimation/StevenUniverse'':
** Before having her eyes accidentally healed by Steven's healing spit via an IndirectKiss, Connie wore pink-tinted glasses. In the episode her eyes were healed, Steven is recalling a Gem mission that made him worried about his future with the Crystal Gems. The last scene has her taking out the pink lenses before placing them back on her face. In other words, prior to this point, Connie saw Steven's adventures with the Crystal Gems through ''rose-colored glasses''. But, by the end, she is able to ''clearly'' see how stressful Steven's job is.
** While Pearl ''can'' drive a car (and has been shown doing so multiple times), the episode "Last One Out of Beach City" reveals that she doesn't have a driver's license. She explains that this is because she is from Homeworld, not from Earth, and therefore isn't a citizen of ANY country. In other words, she's an illegal alien. Two episodes later in "Gem Harvest", Greg's cousin Andy [=DeMayo=] does call the Gems "illegal aliens".
** The WhamShot from the episode "A Single Pale Rose" features [[spoiler:Rose Quartz's gem turning 90 degrees, [[TheReveal revealing]] it to be none other than the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brilliant_(diamond_cut) brilliant-cut]] gem of Pink Diamond.]] It is, quite literally, a ''brilliant twist''.
** [[Characters/StevenUniverseLapisLazuli Lapis]] is associated with the name "Bob" on a few occasions (most notably as her human alias in "Hit the Diamond"), which serves as a subtle pun about her bob haircut.
* ''WesternAnimation/SupermanTheAnimatedSeries'': Before she became [[ShockAndAwe Livewire]], Leslie Willis was a controversial radio host who wasted no opportunity to insult Superman. [[spoiler: She was a ShockJock.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitans2003'' has one of the first type in the episode "Can I Keep Him?" While fighting Johnny Rancid's new "pet", Rancid remarks that the beast is "kicking [Robin's]--", and is then interrupted by two green hooves to the gut. One shot later, it is revealed that Beast Boy has, indeed, [[spoiler:turned into an ass.]]
** Cyborg is incredibly good at video games. Why wouldn't he be? He's a [[ComputersAreFast computer player]].
** The spin-off ''WesternAnimation/TeenTitansGo'' had an episode called "Staff Meeting". The episode's plot was about a missing staff.
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheTick'', there is a running gag where several villains are never actually named, but they are very obvious visual puns. So we have an evil boy genius with a see-through plastic cranium, but never actually called "Brain Child". Or the man dressed as someone's granny, obsessed with stealing inventions is never called "The mother of invention".
** ''The Tick'' is pretty famous with this trope for villain names like Chairface Chippendale, a chair faced in a tuxedo (Chippendale is also the name of a furniture) and Milton Roe. Milt means fish sperm and Roe means fish eggs.
* "Ex Marks the Spot," the penultimate episode of ''WesternAnimation/TimeSquad'', opens with Larry behaving unusually happily, as if [[DidYouJustHaveSex basking in the afterglow of...something]]. He stuffs a turkey full of gravy until it overflows, then tops the dish with a cherry...which sinks into the gravy never to be seen again. In other words, Larry has [[spoiler:just lost his cherry]].
* One episode of ''WesternAnimation/TinyToonAdventures'' has a CreditsGag explaining that Plucky Duck was "inadvertently omitted from 'The Name Game'."
** In fact, [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Name_Game Wikipedia]] warns that using Alice, Dallas, Tucker, Chuck, Buck, Huck, Bart, Art, Mitch, Rich, Richie, Maggie, or Danny will result in "profanity or rude language."
* ''Franchise/TomAndJerry'': In the cartoon "Baby Puss", Jerry hides from Tom in a doll house. When Tom raises the house's window shade, Jerry pretends to be a woman taking a bath and freaks out at being spied on by Tom and hits him with his bathbrush. In other words: [[spoiler:He was acting like Tom was being ThePeepingTom]].
* Warpath from ''Franchise/TransformersGeneration1'' is an Autobot who is best known for his VerbalTic of adding onomatopoeia to his dialog... to the point where he might have Tourette's. The kicker? [[spoiler:He turns into a tank and his upper body is made from the TURRET.]]
** In the third season, the Decepticon leader Galvatron, who turns into a gun emplacement, is crazy and unpredictable, as likely to attack his allies as he is the Autobots. [[spoiler: He's quite the ''loose cannon''.]]
** And in the Japanese dub, the Cassetteicons often call Soundwave [[UsefulNotes/JapaneseSiblingTerminology aniki]]. In addition to being what gang members call their leader, it also translates to 'big brother.' So, since Soundwave is the Decepticon communications officer who reports treachery to their leader [[spoiler:that means that BigBrotherIsWatching you.]]
* ''WesternAnimation/BeastWars'': Inferno is a pyromaniac with an ant as his alt mode. In other words: a fire ant.
* In an episode of ''WesternAnimation/TransformersRescueBots'', the bots and Cody are discussing what to watch for movie night. Chase's preference? "I vote for an action film. Preferably with high-speed pursuits." Meaning he enjoys a good [[spoiler: ChaseScene]].
* ''WesternAnimation/TheVentureBros'' sometimes works these into the names of villains, especially those that are only seen or mentioned briefly.
** A lame villain named "Brick Frog" appears a few times, but only for a second or two. Since he wears an awful frog costume and throws bricks, you'd think the entirety of the joke is simply how bad he is at being menacing or making any sense. The GeniusBonus is that in masonry jargon a "brick frog" is the indentation in the top of a brick. Which, in a way, makes him [[FridgeBrilliance even lamer]].
** Season 6 introduced a new villain as Dr. Venture's primary archenemy. Since he is very large, has a blowhole, and uses a unified cetacean theme, it's natural to assume that his name is spelled "Wide Whale". If you pay very close attention, however, you'll spot that it's actually "Wide ''Wale''", which is a variety of corduroy fabric. His suit appears to be made of it.
** A villain dressed as a gecko in a track suit with the Polish coat of arms speaks briefly at a Guild meeting. It's left up to the viewer to deduce that his name is "Warsaw Gecko", a play on the Warsaw Ghetto that the Nazis established after occupying Poland. In the same scene, another villain is essentially baseball player Pete Rose colored purple. His name is "Purple Rose", making a play on PurpleProse.
** "Unicornelius", whose name is only known from WordOfGod, is a background villain who merges Cornelius from ''Film/PlanetOfTheApes1968'' with unicorn features.
** Sgt. Hatred initially marks himself by having a tattoo of the word "HATRED", with the H on his face and the rest of the letters going down his front, with the D ending up on his crotch. That's already a pretty solid StealthPun, but when he goes through a HeelFaceTurn, he eventually decides to remove the tattoo and replace the H with a V to show his newfound allegiance to the Ventures. However, by his own account, he can't get rid of the D due to its placement, leaving him with the implied name of "Sgt. VD"--"VD" being a common abbreviation for venereal disease.
* A French stealth pun for ''WesternAnimation/{{Wakfu}}'': the Havresac. It's a real word (haversack in English), but Ruel's is also a bag (''sac'') which provides a haven (''havre'') for the heroes.
* In ''WesternAnimation/TheWrongTrousers'', Gromit, a mute and highly intelligent dog, has his ''Bach'' (playing on the sound system in his room).
* From the pilot episode of ''WesternAnimation/WeBareBears'' when Grizz is trying to cheer up Panda after a breakup:
-->'''Grizzly:''' Cheer up! There are plenty of other girls out there! You're a Panda! You're cute. You're cuddly. [[Franchise/KungFuPanda You know kung fu]].\
'''Panda:''' I don't know kung fu!\
'''Grizzly:''' Yeah, you know what I mean.
* In ''WesternAnimation/YoungJustice2010'' during the final seasons, the Green Beetle of Mars is introduced, his real name is B'arzz O'oomm [[spoiler: A DC comics Martian style name based on Barsoom, the name for Mars used by the natives of Mars in Edgar Rice Burroughs' Jon Carter of Mars Books and their sequels]]
