* Draco Malfoy in ''Theatre/AVeryPotterMusical'' is this trope through {{Flanderization}} of his original character and he's surprisingly more canon than DracoInLeatherPants. He's a bullying coward who believes the only thing keeping him from being the coolest kid in school is Harry and is constantly trying pose and failing ''spectacularly''. He does shape up and join the good guys later on in the show but he's still got the ego.
* According to sports blog ''Kissing Suzy Kolber'', Rex Grossman [[http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/2006/11/f-k-it-im-throwing-it-downfield.html is one of these]] (although [[http://kissingsuzykolber.uproxx.com/2006/12/rexstacy-wants-to-fulfill-your.html he CAN throw]] [[MemeticBadass lasers to Saturn.]])
* [[WebVideo/AtopTheFourthWall Linkara]] the character is this, berating his fans for asking his opinions on comics. Of course, out-of-character, an "I love you guys" is very quickly added. Lewis himself admits to having an ego, but he makes sure to refine his skills in order to stay on AwesomeEgo territory. One arc even focused on his arrogance being the first step on the path to a FaceHeelTurn.
* WebVideo/TheNostalgiaCritic also has shades of this (again, the character is an ass but his actor is lovely), and his is of the "big ego but easily - [[BreakTheHaughty and often]] - shattered self-esteem" variety.
* WebVideo/TheNostalgiaChick, Dr. Tease and The Makeover Fairy are all this, although the actresses - Lindsay and Elisa - are nice, down-to-earth women. Like Critic, the Chick's self-esteem is pitifully low and she abuses people to make herself feel better.
* WebVideo/ConfusedMatthew got considerable backlash for attacking Creator/RogerEbert and claiming he was either an idiot or a liar for recommending ''Film/MinorityReport''. And for attacking Creator/StanleyKubrick in his review of ''Film/TwoThousandOneASpaceOdyssey''.
* ''WebVideo/OnCinema'': Gregg, in his on cinema persona, considers On Cinema to be a highly respected institution, going so far as to call it "the premeire source in the United States and worldwide" for movie information and considers himself a "film expert". There is little evidence that anyone actually believes this and the one time an actual academic film studies instructor, film producer Larry Turman, is brought in as a quest, he critiques Gregg for lacking the expertise needing to be an actual film expert.
* ''WebAnimation/DSBTInsaniT'': Julie thinks she's absolutely flawless and goregous, but she really doesn't have much going for her.
* In ''WebVideo/TheSpoonyExperiment'' review of ''VideoGame/FinalFantasyX'', this was Spoony's take on Tidus.
--> "I'm the star player of the Zanarkand Abes! I should be rolling in pussy!"
** Overall, it's safe to say that the majority of Website/ChannelAwesome members have at least once played off that concept.
* Jimmy Brennan of ''Roleplay/SurvivalOfTheFittest'' is a mixture of this and MilesGloriosus. He's [[SarcasmMode definitely]] the most badass, manly, and awesome character on the island who can kick ANY ass!
* Matt in ''WebVideo/TwoBestFriendsPlay'' during the ''VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom3'' video. He had played the game beforehand and thought he would kick Pat's ass. He did at first, but Pat eventually learned how to play the game and did much better than Matt, and showed that he actually knew who the characters were. And that's not taking into account the ''incredible'' level of humiliation they ''both'' suffered at the hands of an unnamed third guy (later known as [[OnlySaneMan Woolie]]), who was far more intimately familiar with the game than either of them.
** In general, the Matt/Pat dynamic often has Pat acting superior to Matt and comically lording it over him or otherwise deriding him in some way, desptite it being shown on numerous occasions when the sitiuations are reversed that there's no significant difference in abilities.
* [[PsychoExGirlfriend Shannon]] from ''WebVideo/EchoChamber''.
--> "When will they see that their crappy little show would be so much better if I were acting in it? And writing it? And directing it?"
* Sonty Mick from ''Website/TheseWebComicsAreSoBad''. He constantly refers to himself as an "award-winning" critic, interrupts his reviews to describe his personal life, and encourages readers to send in fan-art of him. Sometimes he even claims that he could vastly improve comics by inserting himself into them.
* ''WebVideo/TheSharkasmCrew'' divides itself into smaller crews for Crew Battles. AMPS is easily the most outspoken about their confidence in winning said Crew Battles. They never do.
* Jim Sterling, at least the character with the same name as him he plays in ''WebVideo/{{Jimquisition}}'', ends every video with "Thank God for me." He regularly says things like "there you go, I have, once again single-handedly saved the video game industry." Although, it has to be noted that when standing on his podium next to the ComicBook/{{V For Vendetta}}-style background much of what he says is firmly in SarcasmMode territory.
* PlayedForLaughs in ''WebVideo/ThirdRateGamer''. He parodies how little credit ''WebVideo/TheIrateGamer'' gives to other people in his work, and often writes very self-centered things about himself in the credits. [=TRG=] also thinks the "Coolness Meter" in VideoGame/CoolSpot should start at 100% for him, because he's "The fucking Third Rate Gamer!" Still Played For Laughs, of course.
* Kirbopher in ''{{WebAnimation/TOME}}'', all the way.
** [[spoiler: The fact that he's Zetto's alternate account might have something to do with it, as Zetto was very arrogant in his early days of TOME before he encountered the Forbidden Power. ]]
** Made into a running gag on his character blog.
---> Kirbopher: "The best character in the show!"
* Greg Haiste's character in ''Podcast/TheJohnDredgeNothingToDoWithAnythingShow'', who feels he's clearly one of the greatest actors around. Unfortunately for him, nobody else shares that view…
--> '''John''' (''reading out a letter''): Dear Dredge, I'm a big fan of the Nothing To Do With Anything Show, but feel that the main supporting actor, Greg Haiste, is somewhat underused. What do you propose to do about it? Yours hopefully, Greg Haiste. Well Greg, we've taken everything you've said on board - and completely dismissed it.
* Holly, [[ItMakesSenseInContext the giant floating head]] from ''WebVideo/CaptainDisillusion''. She literally thinks she controls everything.
--> '''Holly''': "I control the animals, the people, and everything else in the universe. Even the random stuff."
* Anyone who's heard of WebAnimation/DrCrafty will recognize him as "the guy who does [[WebVideo/AtopTheFourthWall Linkara]]'s title cards". Crafty, on the other hand, thinks of himself to be the king whose empire would stand after all others fade to dust, even believing his show will last longer than Linkara's.
* Rhys from ''Roleplay/DawnOfANewAgeOldportBlues'' believes that he's better than everyone around him, and inflates his few achievements in his head to 'prove' it. The reality is that, while he's not particularly terrible at anything, he's also not much more notable than anyone else.
* ''Series/TheCryOfMann'': In-universe, Actor Sam Weiner, who uses the side-show as a vehicle to push himself and has an over-inflated ego, despite being disliked by everybody, kicked ''out'' of "Tanking Mann", and an implied [[TheAlcoholic alcoholic.]]
* Whenever Jian Yong shows up in ''Fanfic/FarceOfTheThreeKingdoms'', he complains about being such a minor character, and when he finally gets a larger scene, he immediately starts acting like a douchebag.
* Toothy from ''WebAnimation/ObjectOverload''. As explained on The Other Wiki, he is [='=]''self-obsessed and thinks he's the best thing since sliced bread''[='=]. However, he can't even evade a dodgeball, and he's not the strongest contestant either.
* Captain from ''WebAnimation/AmongUsLogic'', who has takes great pride in his (nonexistent) skills and intelligence. No one seems to actually respect him, though they follow his orders anyway, and he proves to be highly clingy towards anyone who is even slightly friendly towards him.
--> '''Captain:''' I didn't make it through 14 years of flight school for nothing!\
'''Mr. Egg:''' But isn’t flight school a 6-month course?\
'''Captain:''' Not for me.
* Creator/RossGrant frequently speaks against this when advising actors on building their online profile - saying when he first set up ''Act on This TV'', he made the mistake of sending emails "from the ''Act On This'' team" and trying to pretend to be bigger than he actually was. It's a minor BerserkButton for him to see people putting a 'the' or 'official' in their social media handles for this reason.
* Website/BabylonBee:
** After Russia invades Ukraine, Music/NeilYoung once again [[https://babylonbee.com/news/neil-young-threatens-to-leave-spotify-again-unless-vladimir-putin-backs-down-from-ukraine threatens to remove his music library from Spotify]] unless Putin gives in to his demands.
** PlayedForLaughs by way of SelfDeprecation when CEO Seth Dillon [[https://youtu.be/oHBK2TXidBU responded]] to the Steven Crowder vs. Daily Wire contract controversy by claiming that Crowder was talking about the Bee when he made vague references to "Big Con" and that the Bee was a global media empire MegaCorp that strong-arms its contributors.
* ''WebVideo/TitlePending'': One actor candidate tries to convince the two that he's already made it big on Website/YouTube and [[PleaseSubscribeToOurChannel hypes himself up]], despite revealing that his channel only has 32 subscribers and got no videos in years. When the two just ask him to leave, he tries to show his great talent of putting a large rock in his mouth and just can't do it.
* ''Website/NobodyHere'': Jogchem self-describes as such in "[[https://nobodyhere.com/justme/ego.here Ego]]", with the the text being surrounded with golden portrait frames.
-->I have a small personality, but I'm working on an enormous ego.
