''Wolfblood'' is an original Creator/{{CBBC}} drama that aired in Autumn 2012, with series 2 starting in September 2013. Set in Northumbria the series follows Maddy, a teenage [[OurWerewolvesAreDifferent Wolfblood]]. Wolfbloods are humans with enhanced senses and the ability to change into a wolf. She and her family have kept their secret for years but when new boy and fellow Wolfblood, Rhydian, moves in her secret and friendships are put into jeopardy. The series is allegorical, with the Wolfblood serving as a metaphor for other social outcasts.

!! This show provides examples of:
* AccidentalAthlete: In "The Call of the Wild", Rhydian is recruited to play goalkeeper for the school football team after he intercepts a wild kick in the playground that would have broken one of the school windows.
* AgentMulder: Shannon.
* AliensInCardiff: Werewolves in Northumbria!
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: Tom thinks Maddy is interested in Rhydian for this reason.
* AlphaBitch: Kara and Kay play this role to the hilt.
** In Maddy Cool, Maddy herself takes on this role, until she realizes she just doesn't have in it her to be this cruel.
** Depressed because her position of Pack Alpha was usurped, Jana also tries to be this, but ultimately, she realises that it isn't worth it.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: Maddy learns to dance better then Kay just by watching her do it for all of 4 minutes! It turns out she was using Wolfblood abilities to do it.
* BerserkButton: All wolfbloods share this and it's anything that threatens their existence or attempting to reveal what they really are.
* BloodKnight: Most of the wild wolfbloods are way too eager to settle their problems with violence and even taking up some AxCrazy like tendencies.
* BullyingADragon: Jimi and the K's love invoking this trope. Mostly directed towards Maddy and co, which is a very bad idea since their pack consists of three wolfbloods who could snap at a moment's notice.
* CallBack: In [=S2E3=], a forensic scientist investigating a Wolfblood skeleton, she asks whether they know what [[TitleDrop Occam's Razor]] is. Considering Shannon name-dropped it last series, Tom gives a pretty accurate explanation of what it is.
* CassandraTruth:
** In the first episode, when Tom sees Maddy wearing gumboots instead of shoes, he asks what happened to them. She tells him werewolves chewed up her shoes and isn't believed for a second. Her mother used one of her shoes as a chewtoy while in wolf form.
** Shannon consistently insists there is a "monster on the moors" and is never believed. It's always a Wolfblood in wolf form.
** Liam gets his own experience of this when he sees Maddy in wolf form and he tries to convince everyone she is a werewolf. Given that he was already known to believe in werewolves before this happened makes him even less credible.
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: Eolas can enhance a Wolfblood's natural senses to an almost psychic level of perception, but it's also incredibly addictive and will have detrimental effects on the mind of the user, not to mention if you use it around electrical energy fields, it's really going to hurt! This is why "tame" Wolfbloods agreed to conceal the existence of Eolas. Oddly, Rhydian uses Eolas with no ill effects and when questioned about it, all he can theorise is that he is somehow immune to the side effects. Somehow, Maddy uses it in season 2 with greater control.
* DumbBlonde: Katrina is so intellectually incapable that even academically challenged characters sneer at her stupidity.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: It's safe to say that Rhydian and Maddy had their fair share of roadblocks in their relationship; first, they had to separate when Shannon and Tom found out about them being Wolfbloods, and then when Rhydian returned to Stoneybridge from the wild, they had to separate ''again'', with Maddy and her family going to the wild while Rhydian stayed behind, thanks to Dr Whitewood's interference and research, before the Smiths are sent the Canada for their own protection, leaving Rhydian stuck in Stoneybridge. It isn't until the end of series 3 that Rhydian is able to move to Canada himself, reuniting with Maddy in wolf form there.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Alric cared for his daughter, Jana.
* FieryRedhead:
** Jana, a redheaded, wild Wolfblood who has a hard time controlling her temper. When in wolf form, her fur is red like her hair.
** [[InvertedTrope Inverted]] with Shannon, who has red hair but is usually very gentle and reserved. Also, she's ironically the [[BrainyBrunette Brainy Redhead]] to Maddy's [[FieryRedhead Fiery Brunette]].
* GirlPosse: The Three K's.
* GRatedDrug: In order to give Shannon a confidence boost to perform on stage, Jana gives her a bottle of werewolf healing potion and instructs her never to consume more then two drops. Maybe it isn't so G-Rated because Shannon quickly becomes addicted to using it and later in the episode, overdoses on it with the primary side effect being that she gains the sensory perceptions of a Wolfblood, the experience being quite similar to a drug high. She even ransacks Jana's home looking for more potion when she craves another dose.
* InsistentTerminology: "''It's Wolfblood, not werewolf. We're not monsters.''"
* InsultBackfire: When Rhydian holds Jana's hand to conceal her transformation veins, Katrina instantly starts the "got a girlfriend" chant. Then she trails off into silence as she realises that Rhydian having an girlfriend means he isn't available to be her boyfriend.
* [[ISeeDeadPeople I Hear Dead People]]: Jana has Anseim, the Wolfblood ability to sense the voices of those who died traumatically. She can also relieve their memories of the deceased by placing her hand on the skeletal remains.
* JerksAreWorseThanVillains: School bully Jimi is even more dislikeable than Alric, who is just trying to protect his daughter.
* KarmaHoudini: Apart from getting exiled by his own pack, Alric never really gets any comeuppance for trying to kill Rhydian.
* KeepingSecretsSucks: Maddy hates lying to her friends but has no choice but to.
** Al least until the end of series 1, where [[spoiler: Tom and Shannon find out]]
* MuggingTheMonster:
** Jimi is particularly susceptible to this error of judgement. He twice provokes a fight with the "weird new student" (Rhydian, then Jana), only to discover the hard way they're a lot stronger and ferocious then he is. When your intended muggee is a Wolfblood, the fight was lost before it started.
** Disoriented from the use of Eolas, Maddy is cornered by a mugger and her three friends. When she starts growling at them, their first response is to laugh. When her eyes turn yellow, it's not so funny anymore and they instantly backpedal.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: After delivering a spirit-crushing public humiliation to Kay in retaliation for an entire episode of backstabbing, Maddy realizes that no matter how much you despise someone, there is no excuse for making someone have an emotional breakdown on their birthday.
* NotUsingTheZWord: For wolfbloods, the word "werewolf" is more associated with the types you see in monster movies, and they're very adamant on this.
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: Obviously. Maddy even references this when Rhydian assumes he's a werewolf because he was bitten by one (it's because his parents are werewolves). Yet these types of werewolves aren't the monsterous types and are more correlated to be in touch with nature. Though wild wolfbloods subvert this as they are more viscous and territorial which causes them to act like typical werewolves.
* SecretKeeper: [[spoiler: Having seen Maddy transform from wolf to human, Tom and eventually Shannon make the choice to keep her secret.]]
* SheCleansUpNicely: When Tom sees Shannon in a party dress and without her glasses for the first time, his reaction is textbook tactless.
* ShoutOut: When Tom [[spoiler: gains Wolfblood powers due to an experimental serum]], he and Rhydian use the line [[ComicBook/SpiderMan "with great power comes great responsibility"]].
* SupernaturalGoldEyes: Whenever a wolfblood gets close to transforming their eyes turn yellow, similar to a wolf's.
* SuperReflexes: Another one of a wolfblood powers is having great reflexes.
* SuperSenses: Comes with being a Wolfblood. You can see smell trails!
** Then taken even higher with their "Eolas" sense: they can see, hear, and smell ''everything'' around them, even from miles away! However, this sense has two major drawbacks: being near technology (specifically, electrical fields) hurts them badly, and it's ''incredibly'' addictive. There's a good reason why tame Wolfbloods are forbidden from using it.
* SuperSpeed: Wolfbloods can run at very fast speeds.
* TaintedVeins: As with SupernaturalGoldEyes above a side effect of pre-transforming.
* TheMasqueradeWillKillYourDatingLife: In Season 3, always having to deal with Wolfblood-related issues without being able to explain why brings a quick end to Shannon and Tom's romantic relationships with Harry and Kay respectively.
* ThemeNaming: Lampshaded - three girls whose names all begin with "K" form a clique, so everyone calls them "the Three Ks".
* TheNoseKnows: Wolfbloods have incredibly an incredibly keen sense of smell, being based off of wolves.
* TooDumbToLive: Despite knowing precisely what it is, Shannon stands in the middle of a cloud of predator scent lure she is enthusiastically spraying around. Cue the arrival of an extremely aggressive wild Wolfblood enraged by the scent and if Maddy hadn't intervened to fight her off, it would not have ended well for Shannon.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: All wolfbloods love meat. This is due to them being natural born carnivores due to their wolf physiology.
* TransformationDiscretionShot: Whenever a character changes into their werewolf form, it starts with the camera zooming in through their eye as their veins and organs mutate before zooming back out to show they're already fully transformed.
* TroubledButCute: Rhydian.
* VomitDiscretionShot: In "Total Eclipse of the Moon", Shannon throws up a banana milkshake off-screen.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Jimi.
* WillfullyWeak: The tamed wolfbloods can be considered this as they reject their natural primal abilities that the wild wolfbloods learn from the living freely.
----
!! Episodes of this series provide examples of:
* LukeIAmYourFather: Random people turning out to be Rhydian's relations is practically one of the show's themes.
* TitleDrop: Lone Wolf, Occam's Razor, Wolfsbane, Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?
** Also seen in many episodes relating the the show's title, which is hard to avoid as they themselves are called Wolfbloods.
