One of Creator/G4TV's flagship shows, along with ''Series/XPlay'', and one of its highest-rated, ''Attack of the Show!'' (also abbreviated to ''AOTS!'') is a daily variety program where the newest technological advances, tech news reports (including some parody reports), and exclusive previews of upcoming and highly anticipated video games, movies and digital media, among other things, can be found. The show debuted in 2005 as a retool of ''Series/TheScreenSavers'', one of only three programs from Creator/TechTV, which [=G4TV=] merged with in 2004.

The hosts were Creator/KevinPereira and Candace Bailey [[note]]Pereira would later leave the show in mid-2012, and Bailey along with a slew of guest hosts hosted the show during the remainder of its initial run.[[/note]]; the show was formerly co-hosted by Creator/OliviaMunn, and before her Kevin Rose, Sarah Lane, and Brendan Moran. Other personalities who showed up included Kristen Adams, Sara Jean Underwood (who handled ''The Feed''), Chris Gore (''[=DVDuesday=]''), Creator/AlisonHaislip, Will O'Neal, Chris Hardwick (''Gadget [=Pr0n=]''), Blair Butler (''Fresh Ink''), and Blair Herter among others. They also had numerous celebrity guest hosts, who brought their own, uh, ''unique'' spin to the show.

It was announced on May 8, 2012 that Kevin Pereira would leave the show; he eventually left on May 31, though. On October 26 of that year, [[http://kotaku.com/5955278/crisis-at-g4-studios-gaming-shows-will-be-cancelled-source-says it was announced]] that G4 was cancelling both ''X-Play'' and ''AOTS!''. (Like ''AOTS!'', ''X-Play'' had recently lost a popular host going back to the [=TechTV=] days - Adam Sessler.) Both ended their initial runs on January 23, 2013.

In 2021, after 8 years of being off the air, the show made its triumphant return in the fall of 2021 along with the rest of G4, with Pereira once again taking the helm of hosting the show, for the first time in nearly a decade, along with a slew of new hosts such as Kassem G., Fiona Nova, Gina Darling, and Will Neff. What's more, ''AOTS!'' now had multiple editions of the show -- ''Vibe Check'', a laid-back version of the show; the "classic" version of the show with bits, stunts, viral videos, and more; and ''The Loop'', a long-form podcast format interview show that aired for a few episodes.

In September 2022, Kevin Pereira left the show and handed main hosting duties to Wrestling/{{WWE}} Superstar Wrestling/XavierWoods. Unfortunately, he would only host for one show before G4 ceased operations in October 2022, ending ''AOTS!'' for the second time.

----
'''Recurring segments on the show include:'''
* ''Around the Net'': A countdown of the top five videos of the day as found on video sharing sites such as [=YouTube=]. A subset of the segment dubbed ''What Happens Next?'' was an interactive viewer quiz that tasked the viewer on what they think happens next in the viral video presented.
* ''The Feed'': A rundown of various news stories, usually three or four, related to movies, technology, etc. (This name was also used for a news ticker that would pop up onscreen during other G4 programming.)
* ''[=DVDuesday=]'': Chris Gore comes in and reviews newly released [=DVDs=], graded as "Buy", "Rent" or "Pass".
* ''Fresh Ink!'': Blair Butler reviews recent comic book releases, graded as "Buy", "Browse" or "Burn". In the revival, Kassem G. takes up the helm and gives a recommendation on a newly released graphic novel.
* ''Product/Gadget [=Pr0n=]'': Will O'Neal and later Chris Hardwick, Matt Mira and Kevin review and showcase the latest gadgets and gear, rated on a five-point scale.
* ''Game Break'': Kevin and a representative from ''X-Play'' (i.e. Adam Sessler) would review and discuss a game that came out. Essentially a mini episode of ''X-Play'' within ''Attack of the Show!''.
* ''[[strike:Great]] BREAK! Moments in De-Evolution'': Reviews of people doing ridiculous stunts, which usually end in bodily harm and/or property damage. Each video is rated on a scale of 1 to 5, with a different satirical value for each (e.g. "$.99 store home-pregnancy tests", "barbed wire tattoos", "do-it-yourself convertibles", etc.). This segment was, as the title implies, sponsored by BREAK.com for a time.
* ''As Seen On TV'': Kevin and Olivia test products that are advertised on TV, usually in infomercials.
* ''[[strike:The List]] Attack This!'': Various things that the [=G4TV=] hosts recommend the viewers to buy, download etc.
* ''What's Up With Japan?'': Kevin talks about the strange occurrences within Japan, from tech to popular culture.
* ''WTF?!'': In which very strange things are discussed. Often this would involve some obscure type of fetish.
* ''In Your Pants'': Sex columnist Anna David and Olivia Munn give intimate relationship advice and opinions. After the segment, Kevin Pereira makes a joked sexist statement followed by a rooster crowing and the quote "Cock-a-doodle-doo, bitches!"
* ''Epic Fail'': Typically the last segment of the show; they single out one video in which someone [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin fails in epic fashion]].
* ''The Loop'': An industry expert is interviewed via remote chat about a growing trend regarding the internet, politics or the economy.
* ''Found Footage'': Kevin would narrate and do a report on an obscure vintage movie.
* ''Website/YouTube Star of the Moment'': Kevin and Olivia judge along with the viewers at home which [=YouTuber=] is famous and viral and which ones are not
* ''Blog Watch'': Kevin Pereira reviews a variety of blogs on the Internet.
* ''MMA Chokehold'': The hosts discuss news and happenings in the world of MMA along with some guests in the MMA realm.
* ''TL;DR Theater'': Ovilee May narrates a summary of prior seasons of an anime, while the cast reenacts her narration on screen.
* ''What's Will Watching?'': Will Neff would share some of his recommendations and reviews pertaining to streaming movies and shows.

----
!!Attack of the Tropes....Attack!:
* AllJustADream: At least, it is to Leo Laporte in the closing sequence of the final episode.
* AnAesop: For some reason, Carissa Walford likes doing these, occasionally with a satirical bent. Olivia Munn is very prone to them.
* AndKnowingIsHalfTheBattle: Parodied, with their "You Just Got Learned" spots, which show a spaceship crashing into a blimp in space.)
* AsHimself: Wrestling/CheerleaderMelissa
* BackForTheFinale: The original two hosts, Leo Laporte and Patrick Norton, appear in the very last scene of the show. [=TechTV=] as a brand gets this as well.
* BerserkButton: Word of advice, don't bring Austin Creed a stuffed panda bear because 1) He has a fear of them and 2) He'll destroy it without any hesitation.
* BlackComedyRape: In a preview of their E3 2011 coverage, Candace read so much in a single breath that she "passed out". Kevin pulled off his jacket as he continued the segment, drawing a mixed reaction from the audience before he responded "It's for CPR, you perverts!"
* BrokenAesop: Happened from time to time, particularly when Raychul Moore and Olivia Munn presented it.
* BunnyEarsLawyer: Subverted with the show's official security expert Bill Scruff (of Bill Scruff's Tactical Defense!) a parody of [=TikTok=] self-defense channels, whose sole specialty is showing improbable and useless self-defense techniques that will either get the user killed or will never be useful.
* BurpingContest: Candace challenges Sara to one in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqay6UrBlbU Attack of the Show's 2011 Burp-a-thon]], [[spoiler: where Sara wins]].
* TheBusCameBack: Kevin Pereira is set to return to his hosting duties of the 2021 revival for the first time since his initial departure back in 2012.
* CasualKink: Once an episode. One of the major running gags will inevitably tie in to a fetish or kink culture famous or infamous because of the internet.
* CleavageWindow: Invoked in one episode where Sara wears a shirt backwards so the hole in the back would become one of these...[[LesYay to make it easier for Candace to motorboat her boobs]].
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: Sometimes intentionally invoked, to keep the joke going from a video clip, etc.)
* CousinOliver: Played with on one episode where [=AOTS=] gets one of their own, who constantly said that something was [[CatchPhrase Bitchin]] (followed by a guitar riff). Kevin quickly got tired of it as he locked him in the basement.
* DirtyOldMan: Drunk Uncle Ted (now shortened to "Drunkle Ted"), a white male clothing store mannequin with a porn star mustache and sunglasses. Perpetually drunk, he is constantly making sexual innuendo when not being outright degenerated. He has recently taken over Anna David's "In Your Pants: Sex in the Streets" segment which he refers to as "Sexist in the streets", giving astonishingly awful sex advice to men.
** Well, not so much giving advice as trying to pick them up. [[SoUnfunnyItsFunny It's equally awful.]]
** Drunkle Ted has officially returned for the relaunch, playing the part of DJ for the show's livestream while dispensing terrible life advice to chat and to the hosts.
* TheDitz: Candace. Oh ''lord'', Candace.
* EmbarrassingMiddleName: According to one bit, Kevin's middle name is Ashley. He insisted that isn't really his really middle name during the bit though.
* {{Fanservice}}:
** Olivia Munn was used for this a lot, including dressing in a French maid's outfit and diving into a massive pie.
** Layla Kayleigh doing "The Feed" in all different kinds of outfits.
** Sara Jean Underwood's turns as WesternAnimation/{{Stripperella}}...er, "Bustice". Not to mention her ''naked'' bike ride recently. [[SarcasmMode I wonder why it's one of the most viewed videos on the website.]] Except that she was obviously wearing [[NudeColoredClothing flesh-toned bra and panties]] underneath the digital censor strips.
* FanDisservice:
** See Fanservice. Oliva was followed by Kevin, who was ''also'' dressed in a French Maid's outfit. Every time Kevin takes off his shirt the man-lovin' fans rejoice. Him wearing only a sumo wrestler thong and getting manhandled by giant muscular men in one episode has pretty much become the fan service of legends.
** Post-relaunch, the crew engaged in a show long foot-fetish skit for Star Wars Day in which "Emperor Palpatoe" and "Gina Darthling" tried to get pictures of Will Neff's feet for... personal reasons. Between the Emperor dancing barefoot and the creepy stalker looks from Gina, the bit was equal parts funny and creepy.
* FullyAbsorbedFinale: The series finale of AOTS paid homage to ''The Screen Savers'' by revealing the entire show's run was a bad dream of former ''Screen Savers'' host Leo Laporte.
* GamerChick: Morgan Webb, when she drops by.
* {{Gasshole}}: Both [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candace_Bailey Candace Bailey]] and [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sara_Jean_Underwood Sara Jean Underwood]] show off their burping skills on the show, which naturally culminated in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqay6UrBlbU a contest]], [[spoiler: where Sara wins]] (See BurpingContest above). Both girls also have histories of loudly and proudly burping off the show.
** Post-relaunch, Kassem's love for carbonated water leads to this trope happening, causing Fiona Nova to fall into corpsing.
* GiantWoman: Discussed in a segment of WTF covering macrophilia and vorarephilia. The segment ends with a giantess crushing Sara and Hardwick under her [[HighHeelPower high heel shoe.]]
* HeliumSpeech: Rather, the inverse, the Sulphur Hexafluoride Speech, which was discussed at one point after seeing it on ''Series/{{Mythbusters}}''.
* HilarityEnsues: Tom Green not only was the first guest star, but returned for their 1,000th episode special. Sets were destroyed. Good times.
* IBangedYourMom: In one episode, Kevin says that he's "having an affair" with Candace's mother, and proceeds to tease Candace with this repeatedly. At one point, Candace's mom calls in to the show, and proceeds to play along, much to her daughter's horror. [[https://youtu.be/4m4lXpaV68s It's a must-see.]] If Candace herself was in on the joke, she does one helluva job not to let that slip through.
* ItCameFromTheFridge: In "Wonder Woman's Guide to Office Safety", Cheetah emerges from a refrigerator after being formed from an old lunch containing correct chemical components essential to creating her.
* ItMakesSenseInContext: During one episode's Feed, Sarah mentions that Candace ended up with a vibrator up her nose[[note]]At the office Dirty Santa party, after a lot of alcohol[[/note]]. Candace protests that she's making it sound weird, and Kevin asks the question on every viewer's mind: "Can you tell me the version of the story where you had a vibrator up your nose that '''isn't''' weird?"
* ItSeemedLikeAGoodIdeaAtTheTime: They tested [[Creator/VinceOffer the Sham Wow!]] and [[Creator/BillyMays the Zorbees]], and used substances such as [[{{Squick}} vomit]]. Kevin nearly threw up on camera.
** Don't forget the Slap Chops on ''pig eyes''.
** The Kitten Warrior obstacle course. Even with cat food to entice them through the course, they could barely get the kittens to go through the first portion of the course.
* MsFanservice: Formerly Olivia Munn. Later Sara Jean Underwood, who will occasionally and playfully draw attention to the fact that she was 2009 ''Magazine/{{Playboy}}'' Playmate of the Year.
** Sara wandered around Anime Expo 2011 [[CosplayOtakuGirl dressed as]] [[Manga/UruseiYatsura Lum]]. Just ''damn''.
*** And she spent the Halloween 2011 episode dressed as [[Film/TheFifthElement Leelo]], openly admitting that she was pretty much taped into the costume.
*** Again, the naked bike ride.
* MyFriendsAndZoidberg: Kassem is the butt of this joke at least once per episode.
* PermaStubble: Chris Gore.
* ProductPlacement: a literal character invokes the trope by way of Ripp Blazer, a pizza delivery guy from the future who often gives away Pizza Hut codes for a free pizza. What's more, he also says the slogan of Pizza Hut: "No one out pizzas the Hut!".
* ReTool: Was made from the remains of the beloved [=TechTV=] show ''The Screen Savers''.
* RunningGag: Post-relaunch, every time Jirard TheCompletionist is a guest on the show, he seems to kill one of the hosts or bit characters in a tragic "accident".
** At least once a month, the guitarist Marcin is featured on Around the Net. Chat inevitably review bombs the video, a BerserkButton for Xavier who insists that all of chat should in fact BOW DOWN before Marcin's talent.
* SeriousBusiness: We only heard about it after the fact, but while filming a segment about Sumo wrestling, Kevin managed to ''horrify'' his hosts by asking if he could break tradition and wear something under his mawashi.
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: Olivia and Clark did a segment once where Clark expressed his discomfort with some of the things Olivia did while he was around. One of these things was that she lounges around in the alltogether, not caring how uncomfortable it makes him. In his defense, she was clipping her toenails at the time.
* SkywardScream: Frequently PlayedForLaughs.
* StockSitcomGrandFinale: Kevin's last episode closes out this way, with him walking past a host of his older costumes before putting his jacket and tie on the last, undressed dummy, and then turning off the lights and leaving. Of course, he gets a more comedic sendoff by being offed by an old persona.
* SpinOff: ''It's Effin' Science'', based off of one of the show's recurring segments. Of course, like a like of G4 series, it didn't last long.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Kevin often gets portrayed this way.
* TakeThat: An offhand mention of 4chan in the last 10 seconds of one episode led to all of 4chan using G4 personalities as randomly generated user names. So AOTS took the Epic Fail meme and turned it into a show segment.
** The final episode brought back the original ''Screen Savers'' hosts, Leo Laporte and Patrick Norton, with the whole show being a dream of Leo's who comments how weird it was with [=TechTV=] being sold and the changes that had (and in reality, did) happen to the network. If that wasn't enough, the last shot closes on them flying on jetpacks to a building still sporting the [=TechTV=] logo. Apparently the staff shared the fans' sentiments on missing the old network.
* TheUnfairSex: [[ConversationalTroping Discussed]] in one episode where Candice brings up ''Film/TheNotebook'' and Kevin calls the protagonist a slut for dumping her faithful and dedicated fiancé in favor of Ryan Gosling just because the guy built her a house. Candice and Sarah both defend her, saying it was true love and "What woman ''wouldn't'' run off with Ryan Gosling?"
* VarietyShow: Per usual for each episode, it has a viral video review segment which is accompanied by an associated sketch, physical challenges in relation to a video or two, celebrity interviews, field reports, and live demos of products.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes:
** Olivia Munn is deathly afraid of popping balloons. Of course, Kevin endlessly exploited this in one episode. Once again, HilarityEnsues.
** In a more closer to the trope name example, in preparation for the release of ''Film/SnakesOnAPlane'' to theaters, one episode had them cover the entire set with snakes. And ended with a rock paper scissors duel over who has a barrel of live snakes poured on them. In the next episode Olivia furiously revealed through a slow-mo close-up of the duel, Kevin cheated.
** Candace Bailey revealed that she was ''very'' afraid of flying bugs, hissing cockroaches in particular. They exploited this and seemed to taunt Bailey with one. Naturally, she freaked out, only for it to be revealed it was a wind up toy in a brown paper bag.\
\
At a later date they actually brought on some ''real'' hissing cockroaches (along with some other bugs), to the distress of Candace and every other woman on the set. To her credit, Sara had the guts to let the handler put a roach on her bare hand, but Candace got so freaked out that she ended up crying (and getting comforted by Sara).
** Wrestling/XavierWoods aka Austin Creed has a fear of stuffed panda bears; whenever he sees a video or picture of one, he freaks out.
